- Never ruin another drawing by using the wrong paper with copics and promarkers! In this video I test 14 different types of paper for common problems such as feathering, bleedthrough, blending and of course price.

The verdict for me is Canson Bristol Paper then! I was looking for the best paper for copic sketch markers since I will be buying a set next year to work on my comics and illustration. Thank you so much for your much needed insight! I grately appreciate! 😁
Ideal paper for alcohol markers is Color Copy by Mondi (uncoated). Super smooth and very nice for gradients.

Interesting results. In my testing I found Strathmore 300 smooth Bristol to come out on top as slightly ahead or equal to Canson Bristol.
The very best I've tried is Strathmore 500 series plate surface, the 11" x 17" (the one with the dinosaur on the front). But it's mad expensive.
i have different options available but this helps me know what to look and test for. thank you!
Yeah I've found thay bristol smooth has the best balance between blending and minimum bleedthru. I was always hoping for something completely invisible on the opposite side of pages but it seems best for single sheet art pieces rather than in a sketchbook as I'd naively intended 😅

Loved this video I use promarkers to make Christmas cards but keep getting bleed through I'l be getting Canson the wall paper in future it don't bleed through thank you

I've just started using W&N Brushmarkers and was wondering what their marker paper was like. I think I must be blending wrong because I used Neenah and was disappointed with the result. The other I have used is the Canson Bristol paper. Out of interest also tried my Aurora hot pressed watercolour paper which worked quite well. I think I'll trust your judgement and persevere with the Neenah. Now to and learn how to blend properly!
You should try Canson The Wall, it is a fabulous paper for alcohol markers !

Hello just the video i was searching for☺my sharpies get a good workout trying to draw caricatures with minimal lines. Nine thumbnails first in graphite. Then sharpies on clean drawing paper with scrap paper under the drawing paper in my sketchbook. But Michael's Art Store is Artist's heaven. Or switch to digital ? We tested acrylic paints in Art Design class. Dollarstore type to expensive Liquitex brands.

Hi just wondering why 220 gsm paper at 8:32 was not bleed through, but higher gsm like 270 gsm is getting bleed through why that happend ? Can you help me which gsm is the best to stop the bleed through when using markers ??
@masonvu718 So this is a super late answer but I've found that it's more to do with the paper composition. Things like the texture and coatings seem to be the main factors. I think it's why the Copic marker paper holds up so well at only 70gsm.
Hi, what do you think about Strathmore Bristol vellum paper, to use with Promarkers?
I've done my own test and found (with Olomarkers, Arteza, W&N and Copic) this is the best paper - 400 series, 300 not so much. I plan to test the 500 series but for now 400 is the best. And surprisingly Etchr 100% cotton mixed media sketchbook! The Wall is good BUT with Olomarkers the ink pools on top because those markers are pure liquid inside (no wick/foam to slow the flow), so the ink comes out at a high rate. And it absolutely does NOT bleed through. This is the only paper I've used that looks good, is bright white and actually does what it claims. You can use both sides with heavy layering.

For the canson Bristol one, is it the smooth or the other one?

I feel the very imperfect approach to blending (not having the brush nib too) might have butchered results on some papers 😔
I got sucked in because the title says "copic markers" and yet you only use the winsor newton promarkers. I don't know if there would be a difference in the test but you may want to edit the title to indicate you used promarkers and not copics. JMO.
Canson Bristol sucks up so much marker juice, similar to watercolour paper(Big no no for full marker drawings people)
