  • 7 th Gen Celica stock air box... What are the Three plugs for?
    The vent hose at about 3:12 mark, A small filter could be put on that hose. It just draws in filtered air when the system purges the evap canister.
    The blue plug and the black plug (center one in pic at 0:20) can be swapped (same shape). If they are it will cause start/ idle problems especially after filling with fuel. Happened to my GT-S

    It’s very important not to accidentally put the blue plug on the vsv valve. I made that mistake and everytime I put gas in my car it would stall and it’s because the blue plug caused the vsv valve to stick open and suck raw gas through the line stalling finally fixed the problem a while back but it’s an easy mix up since they’re the same design plug and will swap places if not done correctly

    This saved me tons of time and headache. Thank you for explaining each part. I was able to install a ram intake with the info. The info about the last plug was extremely helpful.

      Thanks for the comment. I've seen these plugs not connected on a few cars. So I thought this would help someone.

    Purchasing an 03 with a short ram,but live in S.Florida and when it rains it pours and i don't trust the short ram in wet conditions.........will be going back to the OEM airbox... would rather loose a few horses than lose an engine......thank you for the explanation.

    What is the part specifically called that connects the the green wire?

    I recently installed a short ram intake and found out I don't have a vent valve and only 2 plugs (vacuum and butterfly valve). If it had been removed by the previous owner, I'd have no idea why they would've done that

    • @TSRGarage
      @TSRGarage  Год назад

      That is strange. Usually they are just disconnected and left hanging.

    What purpose does the the big hole have (when looking at it: bottom, lower right nozzle) Is there a hose i need, or need to connect ?

    I find these motors so inconsistent, my 2005 1zzfe has the rocker cover brether hoses connected straight into the throttle body

    Do you have a video about how to install a aftermarket intake on a 2zz engine? And where the vacuum holes are connected

      Just Anon I covered what I know about it in the video. I just checked.. a Google search of "2000 Toyota Celica vsv diagram" will get several good diagrams.

    What does the little breather valve do the one that gets filtered air

    • @TSRGarage
      @TSRGarage  5 лет назад

      It's all part of the fuel tank vent and purge system. So I would guess it is air intake for evap purge cycle.

    So.. Scott, what would happen if the vacuum valve isnt plugged?

    • @TSRGarage
      @TSRGarage  7 лет назад +1

      If your refering to the vucuum port on the intake (with the hose hooked to it). possibly high idle or the idle will not be steady (rev up abit and drop)

      OK. See i asked because I have a short ram intake and run rich. This how I got the vehicle from the previous owner. Also its the GTS, and in M mode downshifting, or any decreasing speed if I touch gas or tap it continuously, it pops and gurgles, sometimes spits flames. Exhaust is straight piped with CAT and resonator. I changed the muffler to a Jaguar triangle shaped one to quiet it down a bit. I like the pops and flames, but I haven't figured out why it does this. It is really fun to drive tho. Any idea why it would do this? I even rebuilt the engine, same thing happens.

    The vacuum valve plug on my 2001 Celica has one of the wires severed from rough handling. Am I able to simply solder the wires (or even use electrical tape) or do I need a full replacement?

    • @TSRGarage
      @TSRGarage  5 лет назад

      Yes you can just repair the wire
