  • In this very short video tutorial I will be showing you how to make a pistol in Blender 3D using the addons Boxcutter and Hard Ops! Yes I don't have screencast keys enabled, but all my new videos with blender will have it enabled!

      Just Go to edit mod and press ctrl t to triangulate, because games Will triangulate.

      @@OCanalDeVideoGames Most engines will do it automatically, and that's the easiest part of it. You have to make a low poly mesh and bake the normals on it, all of that after unwrapping. Then you can texture if you want.

    Started with the holo one, banged that out almost realtime, this one is a bit more pausing but so far so good :D and just when i started scratching my head about topology you mentioned masterxeon so thats where im off to next.

    Do you 'only' use boxcutter and hardops? Have you tried MeshMachine, Decal Machine and Mira Tools?
    I've recently started using Mira Tool's curve stretch, it's pretty useful

    kind of difficult to follow along. would be nice if you were explicit about which booleans you left live vs which you applied. you applied all your booleans except the initial small bevel. I found that out the hard way because I applied that one after I saw you apply every other boolean.

    So with a good picture like this, why not convert the image to an svg, import it to blender convert to mesh and go to work from there?

    Great video I just wish I knew how you are doing half this stuff. Screencast Keys is a great addon for showing what you press during tutorial.
    For example how did you do the bevel on the lower part of the gun. How did all the lines apear?

    A question: I am fairly new to Blender and always get told that N-Gons are a no go for modelling. I don't really understand in which cases N-Gons are viable and in which not, could you clarify? Does it really make a difference if I do not care if N-Gons are created while modelling?

      Ngons a perfectly fine for modeling for still renders and some type of videos. But for video games and any texturing software it needs to be quad or tri

    Pretty sure the trigger safety is in case you drop the glock, that way theirs no way in hell it can fire unless the trigger safety is also depressed somehow.

      You can still do that, but the best method is triangulate them, ngons are fine in todays age. You can even use them as game assets

    Great one. Thx. I have a question? Do You export the model to substance with bevels applied or not?
    I am using 3dcoat and i have a lot of shading problems there when I export a model (after hardops worklfow). Shading looks ok in Blender m. In 3d coat i see strange shading on triangulated parts. Any idea why?

      Depending on what i want for the project I will either export the model with bevels or without, if you are having shading issues then I would quad it out. I dont have any experience with 3D coat so im not sure how to help

      @@stellar-techindustries thx for the answer. Honestly I have no idea what causes this bad shading. I use sharp edges etc in blender and it looks perfect with many n-gons and smooth shading (in Blender). I export with bevels applied. But in 3dcoat even curvature map has strange problems when the mesh comes with ngons. I do not have substance in order to check if this is a software problem or the way I prerpere a mesh. But I guess You export your gun to substance as it is, without any quad retopo, yep?

      You need to unhide the cutter you want to edit, then you can TAB into edit mode and begin editing the cutter obj

    When I use mirror Ithe gun split on two parts and that line in between the two parts ruin everything because any modification on a face (bevel, scaling) doesn't apply on it, help please

      I am actually just doing this tutorial now, but you probably have a giant face in the middle of your object. Just delete an outside face or zoom in to the middle of your object to find that middle face. Hope this helps.

    First time watching one of these and my only question is, is this an exterior asset that can be coded into other games? What I mean is, could I use this to make a weapon, animate it then put it into a game like cod for example?

      you would have to bake the model onto a lowpoly and rig it for games

    I've always wondered why people make Blender tutorial videos using addons? Beginners won't understand how to model if you teach them to model with addons instead of vanilla blender...

      Hardops addon has a function that detects and adds sharps to edges

      Press any number pad button
      or click on top left
      0 numpad = camera view
      1 front view
      3 side view
      pressing cntrl on any numb pad apart from camera will face you the opposite side
      for example cntrl 3 will put you in opposite side view
