I cant convey how much I've struggled with laying out the topology for gun handles that have the complex stocks, but something clicked here where I've got it now. I would have liked to see how to add minimal topoloy rather than a lot of loop cuts but they may even be necessary so I can't complain. Edit: its ctrl + right click, you threw me off with the ctrl + left click at 3:00 , got it now.
Here, I am scaling the selected vertex down to move it to the 3d cursor, but I only want to scale it down on the Z and the Y axes, and not the X axis. So I press S to scale, then I press Shift + X to exclude the x axis in the scaling. You can also use this when moving an object with G. Try it out with the default cube.

Hey man, i don't know how to add the curve on the handle like you, still new to blender, what im talking about is on the handguard you selected the front and back faces, then you scaled them which made a curve, if anybody could help i'd appreciate it!
I just scale it to 0 on the Z axis. If you want to flatten it to an exact height, you set the 3d cursor to that point and use the 3d cursor as a pivot point when scaling to 0.
I need help ! So I created the part with the circle and make the trigger guard. Once I ran out of vertices I got stuck. I am unable to add new Vertices. My mouse broke and I’m on Mac trackpad so I’m not sure if that’s a problem but I cannot add any vertices/vertex using it. To make matters worse when I went to extrude the little bit that I made, (as a test) it was on an angle….. I have no idea why or how to fix it :(
Just Google L115 or AWM, or the name of any gun you want to model. Most pictures will be from the side and you can use them as a blueprint. Additionally, just add "blueprint" to the search if that's what you're looking for. Thank you
There are two ways. You can press F with multiple vertices selected to create a face between them. Or, if you select two vertices on an existing face, you can press J to create an edge that cuts through that face and connects the vertices.

Что бы небыло дыр, зайди в Edit Mode выделив все полигоны нажатием английской A, следом нажимаешь M и выбираешь Merge by distance. Готово) Еще же не поздно, да ?)

For those whose having duplicated vertex problem , please do merge by distance , it gives me like 2-3 hours to figure that out
