I'm the 3D lead for a small PA game studio, and the artist on a large FPS project built all his rigs in Blender- which means I have to animate in Blender instead of MayaLT, since the rig itself won't translate over. This tutorial was VERY well made, and it also shows me where the UI is and how to create different animation instances/actions. This answered something like 70% of the questions I had going into this project- thank you so much! Very concise and easy to follow.
your pacing, volume and clearness of your voice was perfect to easily understand everything you were saying I'm glad you made a easy tutorial learning this stuff is usually a pain for people
This is a lot more well made than other tutorials. Most just hit the record button and don't really explain what certain instructions are even doing or meant for, they just roll with it and they're tougher to follow. Hopefully I'll be able to become proficient and create the animations I always thought about
Currently making a game and you just helped me avoid alot of research. Thank you. Great work fitting all of that in one video. And all of it being under 14 minutes
Dude, thank you your way of making bones for the gun is sooooooooooooooooooo much easier and faster than the way I did it before like, turning it from an hour to 10 minutes
I've gotta say, I'm so grateful for your tutorial. This has been the easiest and least complicated one I've had to follow, and I've almost made an animation thanks to you! And thanks for all the useful links, without them, I probably wouldn't have been even able to do a reload animation in under a year! You go bud!

Polybagel sent me here, But Holy shit!! How the hell do you covered all this in one tutorials. Great Content. how can i animate the camera shake? everytime i try to animate the camera it looks like im just moving the gun forward and backwards.
thanks, for camera shake if you're just moving the camera in object mode that could definitely cause some issues. you should be using some sort of bone constraint system. thermite's rigs in my repository use a system similar to hyper's css rig, not sure how it's set up off the top of my head though sorry
@@jaimedelasmontanas Yeah this is better, since if we’re doing it through code, we can disable the headbobbing/camera shake completely using settings menu in game, and it offer greater flexibility later on
A good way to make sure the mag is exactly where it was before turning off the constraint is to put press shift S and choose "Cursor to Selection", then doing "Selection to Cursor" after turning off the constraint, then copying the rotation of the parent bone for the whole gun so the mag is the perfect orientation
Been a while since I animated and need to really get back into it, thanks for making this updated tutorial. Tired of seeing people make good anims while I cry about not managing to do anything 😂
Very good tutorial for those who want to learn how to import, texture, pose and export, but basically nothing about the animation process itself. Can you make a more in depth follow up vid, would be really cool to know how to work with graph editor.

Hey anyone that is interested! I found a good solution to the issue where you have to "Try to get the bone back to it's position best you can"! Simply set the constraint weight to 1 and on the next frame instead of keying the logrotscale you should key it as "visual logrotscale" on the same menu. Then change the influence to 0. Works perfectly for me!
