I'm not sure how I stumbled on y'all's page, other than the Lord. I love how He leads when we pray for help. I have been struggling for a long time to cut my grocery budget and think differently about my spending, as we are a large family on one income. You two have certainly helped to guide me in a way that has proven to be lasting. I can't thank y'all enough and praise to God for having y'all pop up on my youtube.
I wanted to mention what I am trying for my 60th birthday next month. I saw a free archery class at a local State Park, actually on my birthday. I haven't done this since I went to camp as a kid. I am so excited to try this on my bday.
Happy, happy, happy anniversary to the both of you!!! What a milestone...25 years!! Think of all the good that's come from your decision to marry each other: your home, your children (should have listed them first!), your legacy to your family and community (including all the people you've touched online), all you've learned with and from each other, how you've shaped lives by letting people see how strong, loving and wondrous your marriage is... Oh my goodness.... what you've done with the last 25 years... and I only know the tiniest little sliver of it, maybe 0.01%! I love you guys! ❤️
Recipe for vanilla wafer cheese cake. 1 package of cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg and splash of vanilla. Mix and put in a cupcake liner with a vanilla wafer cookie as the base. Bake at 350 for maybe 20 minutes. Top with cherry pie filling. An easy dessert and definitely a crowd pleaser with my family.
Sinking funds are when you put money aside monthly for a specific item that’s due on a future date, so that you don’t touch your emergency fund. Such as your annual insurance, tires for your car, dental work, an air conditioner for your home etc. an emergency fund can be used for all of those things but you haven’t planned for it, it is money that has been put aside for a non specific item that breaks or needs to be replaced that you haven’t been specifically saving for, that’s why it’s called an emergency. 😊hope that helps to clarify ❤
My husband & I just celebrated 36 years as a married couple. What we did that day? Finished remodeling our kitchen! Nothing some would consider romantic, but it certainly made me very happy.
One of my husband’s favorite meals that I make is Chicken Marsala. The whole family loves it. I serve it with roasted potatoes for special occasions like birthdays, Valentines, and our anniversary. We will be celebrating our 24th anniversary next month!
I realized that I have all ten habits; most I do daily. The one that I still sometimes have trouble with, even at age 62, is #7. I like how you included giving back and practicing gratitude because I don’t often see others doing those things.
Yay it's Frugal Friday with Paul & Emmy!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and Many more, just as with Paul's parents! Please know that I keep you both in prayer and especially Paul's parents! I took notes on the 10 Daily Habits, especially in being organized. I tend to multitask and only half of each task gets done. Having a list, keeps me focused. May God continue to bless you to be a blessing. You remind me of something my girlfriend's mother told me 60 years ago. When you live life with a closed hand, nothing is going out, but nothing can come in either!"
Thanks for the video! I think the easiest and most anticipated thing I make, especially in summer, is Crockpot Smoked Brisket. I buy brisket when it's on special and cut it into three big chunks (that will fit into my Crockpot) and freeze. To cook it's so easy! Thaw a chunk of brisket. Place the thawed brisket into the Crockpot, fat side down. Shake on salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder to taste. Then add about 5 to 10 drops of liquid smoke. Cook on high for 4 hours then move to low for 5 hours; basically cooking all day. If your crockpot is very hot, then move to low sooner. Don't add water! It will create it's own juice and in the end you'll have tender smoked brisket that melts on the fork!! Serve it with whatever sides you like. My fellas like brisket with ANYTHING! The leftovers the next day are usually made into brisket tacos. So yummy!!
It's not a special meal, but rather a dish. My husband's family has me bring it to all their gatherings: Broccoli salad (originally broccoli and cauliflower). Chop up broccoli into small pieces (stems too!), about 1 1/2 to 2 heads, depending on size. Add 1 pound cooked and crumbled bacon, 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Dressing: mix together 1 cup mayo, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup sugar (I sometimes use Stevia or a combo of Stevia and sugar), 1 teaspoon of salt. Pour dressing over broccoli mixture and stir. Makes a lot for a crowd! Original recipe called for 1/2 pound bacon and one cup cheese, but for special occasions, I like to double those.
I make chili that is often requested. I raised 4 children who frequently had friends around so I usually make a LARGE POT! Since we are now empty nesters I freeze dinner size portions for myself and my husband for nights when we don’t want to cook, but don’t want to go out either! Pro tip, you can use chili in so many ways (mine is really thick) as a dip for chips, as a topping for nachos, hotdogs, in a bread bowl… a family fall favorite for sure.
I go to the store once a month, and the cab ride is $40.00 round trip, I used to have a ride to the store towards the end of the month but it did not work out, so I now place an order with Schwan, I was able to get enough food for 20 days, they give you $35 dollars off your first order if your order is over $100, the shipping reduces to $9.99 from $19.99. so my order after the discount came to $98.63 after the discount so I added dinner that fed 6and I paid $123.00 for a package with a value of $158.00 so dinner and dessert was $6.00 including vegetables, potatoes, or rice with dessert, I thought having my freezer fillled, I could reduce my grocery bill about $100, I would have food all month long without having to beg a neighbor to take me out. Have a great week Emmy, and Paul, That Chicken dish looked wonderful. Happy Anniversary.
I hope you both DO decide to do something to celebrate in your own special way and not just do nothing. This is a milestone to be celebrated and praising GOD for! Love and hugs.
We recently bought an air fryer. One of the cheaper ones but we love it! Doesn't heat up the kitchen and cooks fast. Just used the dehydrate button to freshen some saltines that had gotten stale with humidity. Awesome results!😊
New here, I downsized so I'm loving all these frugal living videos.. we a big family but kids are starting to fly the nest so trying to learn to live a little more.. looking forward to your videos
Hi Emmy and Paul. Happy 25th Anniversary 🎉🎉 In the Fall, we will celebrate our 45th and like you said today, we don't really do anything "special", but we consider each day together to be a blessing and very special. That's more than enough for us. Enjoy your day 💜 God Bless.
If you forget to organize dinner there is always breakfast for dinner! Another thing: you mentioned once that you stopped buying olives because price has gone up. Senario: No meet defrosted. Put out crackers, cheese, olives while meat defrosts in water for 30 minutes. Then cook the meat and a frozen veggie. The olives paid for themselves by allowing you to make a "best" choice!
I love doing 'quiet time' meaning I sit with my eyes closed, relaxation music playing, and thanking God for all the blessings that have been bestowed upon me. I have a cup of tea along with this quiet time. I also love helping out my elderly neighbor lady as her kids (one passed away just last year) are far away. They have thanked me for looking out for their mother who is also a widow. I am sorry I missed today's episode. I finally got the chance to watch you now. I feel so richly blessed with what God has given me and shown me especially when it comes to friends like you, Emmy and Paul.
I sit on my balcony sometimes as early as 4:30 and listen to the birds while I drink my coffee😊 I have not heard Marry me Chicken in a good long while! I'll have to try it. My eggplant parmesan is my daughter's favorite and my grandsons always ask for my baked pasta ( I don't use ziti I use the medium size shells) My son in law loves my chicken noodle soup. Happy Anniversary to you both! 🎉
When my kids were young, their favorite meal was Chili, chips and cheese. I would make chili in the crockpot (or canned if in a hurry), serve it in a bowl, put some shredded cheese on top (usually medium cheddar), a dollop of sour cream and then used Fritos scoop chips to scoop it up with. Leftover chili was then used for tacos and sometimes when there was a good batch left over, I would use it as a starter base for spaghetti sauce. My kids are now adults but they still love this meal. Another meal that I learned from my mother-in-law was to start with a base meat of beef or chicken, fry it up with a can of cream of chicken/mushroom soup, open the fridge and take out all the leftover veggies, toss it in with the meat. Serve it over white rice/Spanish rice. We called it Concoction. Delicious!
Happy Anniversary 🎉🎉. We are an early retirement couple (55 and 51) no mortgage , no debt but only one small pension and finding your channel was our miracle so thank you. We will be 36 years married in the Autumn and we will (hopefully) manage to get all the family together for a meal. That's my perfect gift. Have a wonderful day ❤
The lettuce you bought is a beauty, looks like a bouquet. One of my best meals that goes over well is just a meatloaf, mashed potatoes with a side veg. My son loves it when he comes to visit and my mom does too.
I love your videos Emmy and Paul 😊. The tips are always fantastic and your vase of flowers in the kitchen background look so beautiful ❤️. Well done and keep up the great vids. Sending so much love Sarah and Mikey xxxxx
My husband and I make vegan pasta carbonara with mushrooms when we have guests and they rave about it 😍😍😍😍 we want to say that your meals always look delicious, you are a great cook 👩🏻🍳😍😍
Emmy, your early morning video was breathtaking. I love the birds chirping, it's so refreshing. Thank you for the frugal tips. I'm going to try to do weekly menus and the Good, Best, Better idea.😊❤
Happy Silver Anniversary next week! And thank you for your tips. One clarification: "emergency fund" is for something unexpected happening (such as changing a side mirror after an accident); "sinking funds" are preparation for future purchases (such as a car - there's been no accident, but you will buy a new one in a year, so you start putting money aside for that).
Happy Anniversary! And oh my goodness, thank you so much for introducing me to Too Good to Go and Flashfood! Using To Good To Go, I was able to pick up a massive bag of fruit for only $5! What a game changer. My husband and I enjoyed fresh strawberries, cantaloupe and pineapple for a couple days. The rest of the pineapple I crushed and put in the freezer for later! (I'm thinking carrot-pineapple muffins!) My most requested recipe is actually a dessert, my pumpkin pie. In October, we pick pumpkins and make a bunch of puree that we store in the freezer. I actually use the Keebler recipe (if you search "Keebler Perfect Pumpkin Pie" but the secret ingredient is using GRAHAM CRUST instead of the regular crust. I also add 1/2 a teaspoon of ground clove, and instead of the 15 oz can of pumpkin puree I use 2 cups of the homemade. It is absolutely delicious, and I make it each Christmas dinner and throughout the year because everyone asks for it!
Another great video for us! That Paul approved chicken dish looked so delicious…..I’m sure he’d marry you all over again! I think I heard Dixie asking for a taste 🤗
Sinking Funds aren't emergency funds they are separate things. So you set aside a nominal amount each month to pay for annual costs like insurance, Christmas birthday's etc. And only spend it on specific categories the money was set aside for. Emergency funds are well just for emergency
I have gotten sun dried tomatoes at Dollar Tree. They are not in oil so I reconstitute them buy soaking them in a small amount of warm water. I put them in the dish along with the water. They are quite tasty and only $1.25.
I make bread in my bread machine at least twice a month and I cleaned out my entire bathroom last Sunday. Only needed two nail items. I have lots of samples of everything to use up.
My mother's recipe for tarragon chicken! Place your chicken skin side down in a bit of butter and brown until the skin is crispy (you are only browning the skin, not cooking the chicken). I prefer using a cast iron skillet so that I only dirty one dish. As soon as the skin is nice and brown, add 1 cup of dry white wine and a rounded tablespoon of dried tarragon. Cover the chicken closely and bake in a moderate oven (about 350 degrees) for 40 minutes. Remove the chicken take off the skin and discard it (it's given up its flavor to the sauce) and set the chicken aside to stay warm. Place the skillet back on top of the stove and bring the sauce to a rolling boil. Reduce by about half. As it's getting to the half-way mark, add a slurry of cornstarch and white wine. Only cook another minute or two. You want it to thicken, but still retain the brighter flavor of the uncooked white wine. Season to taste. I usually serve it nestled on rice, smothered in the sauce, with peas on the side. Super easy, but tastes 'fancy gourmet.'
Janet here from AZ. Happy Anniversary to you both! Love watching your videos and learning new recipes. My husband and I do the same thing, eat at home most of the time and enjoy our vacations!
For the good better best scenario, I love keeping a bag of frozen meatballs on hand, because you can heat them up on the stove top with the spaghetti sauce… And then boil a pot of pasta on the side 👍
Emmy! Vanilla Wafers! Make Banana Pudding! When your bananas are perfectly ripe (no green), cook up a vanilla cornstarch pudding with a couple of egg yolks for richness, and while it is still hot, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas and pudding. The heat from the pudding will draw the banana flavor into it. This would be the American South’s contribution to the world of Triffle. Enjoy!
Happy Anniversary. 25 is a big milestone! We will be 54 in October! God is so good. I like your tip about learning something new! We are going to try Cinnamon Rolls. Bless you both❤
My friends all love vegetarian chili salad. I make the veg. chili in a big batch and freeze some for future meals. Over a bed of romaine lettuce, I spread chopped tomatoes and a handful of crushed Fritos or tortilla chips. I spoon on the chili and grate parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast on top. Always a crowd pleaser. For appetizers, I make regular or roasted beet hummus and serve with cut up vegetables. An alternative is to pop a handful of popping corn for 2.5 minutes in a brown paper bag and season with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Chocolate cookies or fresh fruit for dessert.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful chicken recipe, I’m going to make this for my family. Emmy, you can sprinkle some homegrown chopped parsley on the chicken if you have. I have been keeping a diary of dinner to help me better on meal prep. I started by repeating the recipes after two weeks, then later three weeks, then four. This really helps to limit eating out and save money.
This was one of your BEST videos! The 10 items list has been my guide-to-live for the 48 years I've been married. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EMMI & PAUL!!! ❤❤❤ Love you & your channel. Lisa in San Diego
My most often requested thing isn’t a meal really, but it’s buffalo wings. I basically make them exactly like you do. I found the recipe years ago and everyone that has ever eaten them says they are the best they’ve ever had. I have to agree lol. It’s in my top 3 of favorite foods. My son takes them to work for their superbowl party and I make him like 20lbs. People start eating them in the parking lot as he’s walking in lol. 20 lbs of wings go fast, but I refuse to make more lol. If I need the kids here to help with a project we have going on I send a simple text that says wings, and give them a time lol. Works every time.
My favorite recipe is stroganoff made the way my mother used to make it. Which is my option is the poor mans way, but it taste sooo good. We make ours with flank stake instead of ground beef and for the sauce you take a can of cream of mushroom soup and about half a cup of sour cream and mix it in with the cooked meat and serve it over egg noodles.
Happy Anniversary Emmie and Paul!!!🎉 One of my struggles is not planning meals ahead. My goal is to do your suggestion & decide that morning what ill make for dinner & get the meat set out ahead. That would make the day go much better 😊.
I look so forward to your heartwarming videos with frugal tips and recipes. Thank you for sharing the joy in your heart while sharing your story. You are a welcome calmness and a joy to watch.
I love sitting on the back porch in the early morning with my coffee 🥰
So peaceful!

I wanted to mention what I am trying for my 60th birthday next month. I saw a free archery class at a local State Park, actually on my birthday. I haven't done this since I went to camp as a kid. I am so excited to try this on my bday.
Oh how wonderful! Happy Birthday!
Happy Anniversary to you both!
You are such a lovely couple and are a huge blessing to all of us on here!
Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes Sheila!
🎉❤🦒
This made me remember the commercials in the early 70’s, with Johnny Cash asking drivers to drive 55. “Slow down, you’ll get there.” 😁
It's so true!

Shout out from one Buffalo NY resident to Paul!!!! Let Go Buffalo.
Oh yeah!!!
We have been actively clearing extra things. We sold $324 worth of "stuff" in a yard sale over the weekend...extra things we won't miss.

Happy early anniversary! 24 years how wonderful!
I realized that I have all ten habits; most I do daily. The one that I still sometimes have trouble with, even at age 62, is #7. I like how you included giving back and practicing gratitude because I don’t often see others doing those things.
Thank you! Yes, being thankful for what we have is 90%!
Me too. I do but not in that way. I like how it is thinking of others every time you go to the store.

Would love to see Paul construct the clothesline.
I don’t have a clue. Paul’s a excellent teacher
We already have the clothesline. The separator is just to keep the top and bottom lines from separating.
I'm anxious to see how it works too. I don't understand the logistics. Please show us when it's all connected. Thanks!
Another great video for us! That Paul approved chicken dish looked so delicious…..I’m sure he’d marry you all over again! I think I heard Dixie asking for a taste 🤗
Of course! Dix always gets a nibble!
So close to 50k subscribers!!! Thanks for all your videos and encouragement, you guys are the best ❤️
So kind Carrie! Thank you!
Sinking Funds aren't emergency funds they are separate things. So you set aside a nominal amount each month to pay for annual costs like insurance, Christmas birthday's etc. And only spend it on specific categories the money was set aside for. Emergency funds are well just for emergency
The bread looks good!!!
WWWWEEEEEEEE
Congratulations on that starter!!
And that beautiful bread 🍞
YAY! Thank you!
You are such a good example, encourager!🦒
Thank you, so kind of you to say
I have gotten sun dried tomatoes at Dollar Tree. They are not in oil so I reconstitute them buy soaking them in a small amount of warm water. I put them in the dish along with the water. They are quite tasty and only $1.25.
Me too!
Thank you to both of you! 👍👍
Happy Anniversary. We are celebrating 24 years in August.
Oh how wonderful! Thank you!
Mama mia that looks delicious! Happy anniversary 🎉💞
LOL!! Thanks so very much for the Anniversary wishes!
I make bread in my bread machine at least twice a month and I cleaned out my entire bathroom last Sunday. Only needed two nail items. I have lots of samples of everything to use up.
That is wonderful Latesha! Good for you!
Happy Anniversary! Wishing you many more years of happiness and memories!
Thanks so much Lorraine!
Happiest of 25th Wedding Anniversary wishes to you! May God grant you many, many more🥰
Thank you so much Mary 😊
Chicken wings, Beef on Weck and Sahlens hot dogs ! This former Western New Yorker says "hello" !
Lisa, one of Paul's faves is Beef on Weck!
That sounds amazing! Thanks so much Linda for taking the time to share!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Thanks to Mom. Nonnas rule!

Vie-day-lia onions is how we say it in Georgia!😊
Oh gosh thanks! I'll try lol!
For the good better best scenario, I love keeping a bag of frozen meatballs on hand, because you can heat them up on the stove top with the spaghetti sauce… And then boil a pot of pasta on the side 👍
Perfect combo!
Emmy the video of the morning with all the birds I enjoyed that here a few early ams too I love early mornings.
Thanks so much Sandra!
Love chicken!!
So many great hints and tips! Thanls Emmy and Paul. 😊❤😊
You are so very welcome!
Enjoy!
Oh Brother Sam would love that!! 4th of July maybe?
Happppy Anniversary 🎉🎉
Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes!

Happy Anniversary. 25 is a big milestone! We will be 54 in October! God is so good. I like your tip about learning something new! We are going to try Cinnamon Rolls. Bless you both❤
Thanks so much for the anniversary wishes! Bless you as well!
Sounds wonderful!
I am watching this a couple weeks after this was posted. That chicken dish is perfection! Hope you and Paul had a Happy 25th Anniversary!
We did, thank you!
Happy anniversary kids! I wonder if mushrooms would be good instead of sun dried tomato.
I would love that! Paul on the other hadn't won't eat them lol!
Wonderful idea!!
Great video just full of goodness, esp that chicken!!!!
So kind Gail, thank you!
This was one of your BEST videos! The 10 items list has been my guide-to-live for the 48 years I've been married. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY EMMI & PAUL!!! ❤❤❤ Love you & your channel. Lisa in San Diego
Thanks so very much for the anniversary wishes Lisa!
Happy 25th anniversary! ❤
Valerie, thanks so much!
Oh yes! They are so good!
I just made your version of marry me chicken. It was blummin delicious! Thanks for another great recipe!
YAY! So happy you enjoyed it!
Looks amazing
My favorite recipe is stroganoff made the way my mother used to make it. Which is my option is the poor mans way, but it taste sooo good. We make ours with flank stake instead of ground beef and for the sauce you take a can of cream of mushroom soup and about half a cup of sour cream and mix it in with the cooked meat and serve it over egg noodles.
Sounds wonderful Erin! Thanks!
Happy Anniversary!! How awesome
Thanks so much for the Anniversary Wishes!
Dawn -a new beginning- dusk- cool of the day- best times of the day!
It sure is!
One of our favourite meals is slow cooked pork belly crisped up in the pan!
Sweet potato mash, green beans and applesauce!
I have only had pork belly once and it was soooo delicious!
Happy Anniversary Emmie and Paul!!!🎉 One of my struggles is not planning meals ahead. My goal is to do your suggestion & decide that morning what ill make for dinner & get the meat set out ahead. That would make the day go much better 😊.
Thanks so much Debbie!
