Giving a thumbs up is the same as saying, "Thank you". I have watched almost every one of Fugal Money Saver videos and can honestly say I have at least one take away tip from each and every one. So, thank you.
For years I have been using the "After Christmas Bargain Wrapping Paper" for all holidays including birthdays. (I only do this with my immediate family. 😊) The kids always got a kick out of it. So as a sweet gesture I wrapped my daughter's baby shower gifts for her two children in the Christmas wrapping paper. (I'm sure everyone at the party did not quite understand why there was Christmas wrapping paper on my gifts to her 😂) My daughter loved it. She said it just made her feel like home. In turn, she now uses Christmas wrapping paper for her own immediate family. 😊🌲 This has been a huge money saver for years. 🤑
For a very long while now I have only used non-holiday specific wrapping paper, for all gift wrapping for all occasions. For example: traditional plaids, stripes, prints, or florals. I try to keep the colors classic and the designs traditional, and they coordinate well when used together. I keep them in an umbrella stand in a corner of my office, with the spools of ribbon slid on a wooden dowel, also kept in the container. I only keep 4-6 rolls at a time, and one is always brown paper, and one in a light floral or print suitable for weddings and showers. I keep only cream, red, dark green, and navy curling ribbon, and a large spool of jute. I keep old greeting cards (just the fronts) to use to decorate packages, gift tags, as postcards, note cards, or even as recipe cards.
Hi Emmy! I've seen your videos on the food saver and wanted to get one. New ones are expensive! Today was my lucky day! I went to a yard sale and got an almost like new one for $1! It had the instructions with it and the lady selling it plugged it in and even showed me how to use it! What a bargain! What a blessing!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Mine is old and very basic, but I think I have had it for at least 15 years. I don't use it a ton as it is just me, but when I use it, I greatly appreciate it. They last for a while.
The weather in New York is too cold to get a starter going. Try when the weather is consistently over 85 degrees. Rye or bread flour is a more potent flour than AP flour for starter. Yes I’ve tried very hard to get a starter to be successful. Mine was a disappointing fail. If all else fail, ask your friends, co-workers, or neighbors to see if anyone has done discard to give you. My daughter’s ex-co-worker gave her some and I have been keeping it alive ever since. In fact, I have given my discards away for other people who asked. Is free and you only need a little bit to get started. I have to declutter, knit, keep my fig trees and herbs healthy this summer so I can reduce my fruits and produce bills down. Thanks for sharing! ❤
I work at my kids school and also coach fall and spring so summer is all about getting the things done we don't get too during the school year. I have my veggie garden going, deep cleaning projects, decluttering, and even a family trip to Gatlinburg where I spent today batch cooking all our meals we'll take with us and reheat at the air bnb! I also do something similar with my clothes except I do it January 1st where I turn all my hangers around and then come next January anything not hanging the correct way gets donated it! ❤ To you, Paul, Dixie and Loris!
The shelf would be great mounted on the wall! It is adorable with so much character. One thing I’ve learned from the Scandinavian countries is to bring things up on the wall (think IKEA storage options for ideas) and reduce storage/clutter on the counter and floor. My daughter helped me redo my office in the small corner of a bedroom a few years ago and the clutter free space helped me so much!
Your garden looks great! My husband took an old piece of screen and nailed it to a wooden frame made from scraps to sift our compost. This summer we’ll be gardening, decluttering, deep cleaning and spending as much time as possible with our grandchildren at Camp NanaPapa. 😊
Paul is an argument for cloning! It's so great how great you work together and are a team. I have been following you for the past year. I always learn something; but, even better, I come away feeling like I've spent time with friends. You're both treasures.
Emmy and Paul, Im so happy I found your channel. I am sixty-six year old retired teacher. Like Emmy, I love vintage dishes and especially tablecloths! My husband is on dialysis and needs a kidney transplant. Right now the dialysis is keeping him healthy. We just became grandparents to a precious little boy and are moving to California from Georgia to be with our children and grandchild. so my summer will be spent prparing to move. I enjoy your videos so much. Keep it up!
We are sprucing up our house on a dime by painting our shutters, and painting our boring white front door a pretty color. Then I am going to make a pretty summer wreath for the door. This will all be under 100 dollars, but give the house a nice facelift.
I freeze tablespoons full of olive oil in silicone molds. No more oil going off before I can use it all. So easy to pop a frozen cube of oil into whatever foods I am preparing.
I would like to try a very small container garden this summer. And as for summer outings, it is fun to find places of interest within 100 or so miles and make a day trip. That’s a nice way to “get away” and not have to spend money for a motel.
Hi Emmy and Paul! Now that I’m home full time I have a huge list of projects. I’m slowly decluttering. I’m also redecorating my house with re-found items I already have but shoved in closets for whatever reason. Some things I’m moving to different rooms for a refresh. Decorate with what I’ve got! Outside I’m beginning to work on my long neglected dream of a beautiful yard with flowers and veggies. All those working years I just had time for bare maintenance and never got around to creating my own “Secret Garden”, but now I am. I’ve set myself a small monthly budget and so excited to start planning. It will be a challenge with my limited budget but that’s part of the fun. BTW I have NEVER yet been successful with a starter and I consider myself a reasonably experienced baker.
I was just thinking how blessed I am to be one of your subscribers. You are such good, kind-hearted people, with great content! I've been watching or letting the ads play - I know that helps! ❤ God Bless you, both always!
You are such a ray of sunshine! Thx for all your frugal tips. About the sourdough the water and flour quality is key. Many people take it for granted that the water out of the tap is ok, but many places it is not, so try bottled mineral water. Sometimes tap water is full of chemicals to suppress bacteria...and some flour is made from gmo and pesticide sprayed wheat against which the beneficial bacteria for sourdough won’t stand a chance. If everything fails, please go to an artisanal bakery and ask them for a starter. Good luck with everything I am looking forward to see your homemade loafs of healthy sourdough bread :)
I give a Christmas card with each gift instead of using name cards. Each family member also has their own paper design, in case they have more than one gift, also no need for name tags. Paul I love your garden it is great.
The removed shelf would be a great closet or bathroom shelf or wallhung to store all pet supplies and hang collar, leash, etc. There are some great and cheap vinyl tiles you could use for the top surface or fill in the gaps with woodfiller and just repaint it after. A fresh coat of paint will make the full unit look brand new and there are great cheap furniture paints out there where one small can will cover three pieces of furniture so a great money saver. For the summer for us, it will be a mix of working on all the projects around the house we have been gathering items for the past few moths and spending time out in the garden, we got a golf set for free so we will be digging a few holes and create our own fun mini golf course and I will read myself through a pile of books on the sun lounger, heaven...
Wow, those nine slices of pizza were huge! What a blessing. I need to go through our closets and donate some of our clothes too. My husband has so many shirts that he doesn't even wear. I have a ton of clothes that I have not worn in years as well. We will box them and send them to his family in the Philippines. This summer, a few coworkers and I signed up for an 11 week ukulele making class. We just had our third class Friday night and our ukulele's are coming along nicely. We also plan to spend a lot of weekends at the beach with our son and his family.
To save money, we are having a family reunion at my son's house in Ohio for vacation. All 16 of us!! We will take turns cooking supper and supplying that meal. For recreation we will going to the beach, hiking in state parks, and visiting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Watching the sunset over Lake Erie will be a highlight that we are sure to enjoy.
Just a thought about decluttering paper. I have gone paperless for all my bills and it saves a ton of paper coming into the house and paying bills online from my bank account is so easy and fast. I know some people still like paper and cheques but once you get used to paperless bills you won’t ever write another cheque again.
I am continuing with gardening, eating from our pantry, etc. We have been frugal and hubby semi retired, so we have been saving for our summer trip to the Canadian Rockies this summer. A dream trip for us for sure.
If you can hold on until Nov-Dec with thst wrapping paper, charities that accept unwrapped gifts often seek wrapping paper donations. Also those whomare wrapping gifts as a fundraiser will accept wrapping paper donations.
I find that since I'm retired and living rurally, I seldom wear dresses and skirts. So I gave away all but a few this spring and made room in my closet for mix and match tops and pants and jeans. 👍👵🤗
The desk hutch can be mounted on wall, say close to entrance or garage. Put on a few hooks for jackets or purses. With a new coat of paint, it will become a vintage Pottery Barn style piece.
I have a garden planted of the following, 25 tomato plants, 30 potato plants, two rows of carrots, 2 rows of onions, 6 pepper plants and 8 hills of cucumbers and it all is doing fantastic! I plan to can a lot this summer and a project I am trying to get caught up on is my scrapbooking.
Thank you Emmy and Paul for another wonderful video! Your frugal life inspires me and motivates me. I have so much more gratitude and joy for the small things after watching.
Years ago, My parents gave me their roll top desk that they got at an unfinished wood store. When I needed a place to use my computer my dad cut the top off with his jigsaw. It's a perfect desk with lots of room. Still use it 30 years later!
Thanks for the video. I loved the hanger tip. Honestly, I think I could donate almost all of what is hanging in my closet! My life has changed so much in the past 3 years that I really don't wear any of my nicer clothes any more! I think I'll keep my little black dress (just in case) and let the rest just go. Oh, boy!! This could be interesting!! 😊
Hi Emmy and Paul. Love your channel. To answer your question: this summer I'll be spending a few weekends creating a small patio area outside my back door. I'm clearing out the grass (more like weeds) and replacing with pea gravel and flagstone to make a little lounging area. doing it myself to save some money. I'm still about 5 yrs away from retirement, so after working hours, just trying to spend more time with friends and family.
Paul is a gem!! That crockpot chicken looked delicious. Now when you declutter with cards! Remember and pass the cards completely!😅! I’m trying to declutter clothes as we speak now. I just cannot imagine how I ended up with so many!!! So I am a mess right now. LOL!! Love your videos. Always learn a tip or two each time!! Ty
Hi Emmy and Paul! Yet again I really enjoyed your video and found it so interesting to watch. Loved what Paul did with that desk! Just amazing! Also loved the hanger tip for deciding what clothes to keep or not. I did have to smile when I saw all your rolls of wrapping paper, but they weren't as many as the number of mugs I used to keep in my kitchen cupboard! Some while ago I just had to keep our most favourite ones and give the rest to charity. A couple of them I kept to use as a pen pot holder. I now only allow half a shelf in my cupboard for mugs and that's it. How lovely to see Lauris and Dixie by the way. For Summer we have 2 weeks of holiday off work. For some of that time we will be on a walking holiday in Switzerland. Back in our home town we will be enjoying various parks, having picnics and lovely walks. No particular projects, but the usual regular cleaning and tidying to do. I also declutter regularly and don't shop unless I really need something. By the way that food app you use is amazing and that was wonderful that you got so many pizza slices. Fantastic and it's great that you can freeze them and enjoy pizza for weeks to come! Thanks again for such an enjoyable video. I wish you both a wonderful week ahead and may God bless you. ❤😊
were a touristy area. we work, work, work in the summer to make enough to get through the winter. This makes no spend/low spend a necessity because I don't have time or energy for shopping. this lets us work through our preps and restock in the fall before winter. also we try to make the most of the little free time we have by getting outside for camping, hikes, beaches, bonfires with friends and family.
Hello Emmy &Paul; you folks are such great inspiration! Loved your video today. From now on i will focus on gift wrap that is neutral and can be used for more than just one holiday. If the gift wrap is neutral will be able to use for holidays, graduations & birthdays! Love the crockpot meal you shared! Yum! I agree with other posts in this community mounting the top part of the desk to the wall above computer screen would give extra storage for books, journals, envelopes, etc that have to do with computer station space!
We are staying home more this summer! This week my husband had a weeks holiday and we planted, tidied and painted garden furniture and also decorated our guest bedroom! So much done and we spent very little money!
I'm getting ready for a garage sale in a couple weeks. I am really trying hard not to spend money. Got only 65,000 left on the mortgage. I noticed there was no water in the slow cooker yet the chicken came out. I think I might make that soon. I love all the gardening tips. It's been so hot here in Michigan and I pray for some rain (before the sale of course). Have a great weekend.
I do almost the same thing with my hangers. I live in Florida and we don't have seasons like y'all do. January 1st I turn ALL my hangers backwards. When I wear something I turn the hanger around the "right" way. Late in December almost all clothes still with the hanger the wrong way get gifted to the thrift store. (It is possible I haven't had to wear something like a dress for a funeral, wedding etc, so I'll give that another year in my closet ONLY IF it fits.)
Thanks for the video, Emmy & Paul! I have some pet-friendly ideas for the desk parts that you removed: 1. If you attach hooks to the shelf part before mounting it on a wall, it could hold Dixie's leash, your keys, etc. 2. If one of the drawers is big enough, put a cushion and blanket in it for a pet bed. 3. If they fit, you could also put caster/ wheels on the drawers for under- the- bed storage. See you next time! :)
Thank you. I appreciate all of the work you and Paul put into these videos. My summer projects include downsizing flower garden beds and decluttering more closets. We are focusing on budget-friendly travel plans with day trips around our region.
I have my container garden going, I’m going to decluttering my garage, organizing my cupboards and sewing and quilting every day. I’m going to get my unfinished quilt project done, reading more and extending my early morning walk with my little pup. Another wonderful video. Thank you Emmy and blessings to you both❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌻
This summer I am trying (for the 3rd year in a row) to grow tomatoes and cucumber in my garden. I had a friend start the seeds for me and I have a better place to plant them this year so hopefully I can get at least 1 harvest out of them. I am also taking swimming classes and making craft projects to sell at my local zero waste store.
We are looking forward to spending time with our grandchildren, taking them biking , berry picking ,to the park and the public pool here close to home. …Lots of fun free things to do with littles ones.
I empathize with you about the starter. I have tried to make starter so many times using different techniques. Maybe it is my environment, but when I evaluated how much flour and time I had wasted I decided it was not for me. I hope you are eventually successful.
Hi Emmy- I'm a SD baker and I really recommend just getting some starter from a friend or even asking a local bakery. We all have to discard so most people are happy to give it away. You can buy some from King Arthur Flour but you should be able to get it for free. If you have a PO box, I suppose I could mail you some of mine. I'm in SC so maybe next time you're down here so it wouldn't have to travel as far. I have mailed it the past with good success.
Great video as always. We just moved into a new home so we will be working on landscaping. A friend from church has a 2 acre flower garden and graciously gave us all the flowers we needed to get started. What a dear. In August we are going to Canada and are really looking forward to that. We also just got back from a trip to DC and had a wonderful time. God has truly blessed us with good health and resources to make traveling possible. We love making memories and seeing new things. I'm also in a women's Bible study and a women over 50 luncheon that meets monthly. I must admit that I hate spending money eating out but the time with other Christian friends is so uplifting. (I try to get small plate dishes or a bowl of soup) We also walk, ride our bikes or have friends over. Often instead of a big meal we'll have coffee and dessert. Life is good!
RIP Beatrice. You gave it your all while you were here and we hope you are enjoying your time in the great bakery in the sky. 😉. We are wrapping up what has turned into a two year remodel of our home. We have decluttered, repurposed, reorganized, scrubbed, patched, sanded, and painted and soon we are going to be able to unpack all of our stuff that’s been shoved under beds, in closets, etc. and put our house back together. Plus I’ll be tending our vegetable and flower garden.
Wow!🤪👍 What a great video! The tip with the hangers in the closet was just what I needed. Thanks!😀 I am gardening like my life depends on it...well, you never know these days. My working space is also messy...so, now I know how to get going...great video! We have a saying in Sweden, that we are deathcleaning, when you through away and clean out everything unnecessary, so the children don't have to clean out so much when you die. This is a good way to downsize and declutter. That is my goal for the summer...when I'm not gardening...😜👍.. Greetings from Sweden🇸🇪
😂 I had to laugh..so loud... when I saw your wrapping paper stash🤣 Because I'm right there with you!! I bet you I've got 20 rolls🙄 Oh, the shame..lol. AND I saw a roll on sale for 25 cent at Tractor Supply last week😬... but I restrained myself. I am going to donate all but 2 rolls. Like you, I just don't buy presents like I used to. And those I buy often don't require wrapping. To save money, I've been watching my portion sizes. Often, like most Americans, my meal portions have been super sized. And portion size has really helped. I just portion out my recipe into the serving sizes and place in individual serving containers.
I would hang the shelf above your desk higher then your computer monitor. You could still keep your papers there. Of course add a piece of wood to the bottom of the shelf and paint white. ❤️
Hi Emmy, Re: note cards - when I have friends that are ill, I send a few pre-stamped cards they can use for thank yous to those that help them. Blank cards work well too. My container garden is doing well. I started the seeds 3 months ago and several tomato plants have blooms as well the peppers.
Can’t wait to make your slow cooker chicken. Have you heard about “mirin”?It’s a Japanese seasoning wine with a sweet undertone, available in the oriental section of grocery store. I would add 2 tablespoons of mirin for more sauce. You can make homemake Teriyaki sauce with it and some of the ingredients you already have in this video.
Hi Emmy and Paul. Another great video 💜 I think I will try the slow cooker chicken ... I was looking for something new and different. This year, hubby planted broccoli and cauliflower in the ground. Everything else ... potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, basil, oregano, parsley, mint, and rosemary are in containers. Biggest garden we have ever had. Got our 1st strawberry today! Have a great weekend and enjoy the summer. God Bless.
I know what you mean about all those cards and rolls of wrapping paper! I use it to cover picnic tables using clips to hold it secure. I also have litte grandchildren so when they come over i cut a piece to cover their little table to color on or to play doh, and kids love it when you cut the wrap into place mats at the dinner table! Clean up is a cinch, just toss in trash! Kids love projects like covering a tin can with glue or tape and put a plant in it for a gift! Include a card for the kids to write in. I also use the wrapping paper to cover the inside of dresser drawers, kids love it and so do i!😊
I'm with you on the sourdough starter I have been making my own bread for years and have never been successful keeping a starter, but you can use a no knead old-fashion recipe and let it rise for about 18 hrs in a cool place and it will have that taste you are looking for , not quite as start but still very good❤🙏 good luck and God Bless
I’ve not had success with the starter either. It’s too cold or too hot or it’s Tuesday… I also do not like that most of them waste a ton of flour. I am finishing my backyard this weekend. Changed from rocks to DG for the back part where I have garden beds, saved HUNDREDS of dollars. Doing the work saves $ too!
I've got a couple of closets in my sights and helping at Vacation Bible School. We already made a trip to the ocean about a month ago (we now live in the deep south). God bless 💖🙏👑✝
Oh my, I had to laugh when you showed Christmas wrapping paper!!! With gift bags in recent years, and we give much fewer gifts, I have had wrap for years! I’m with you, no more purchases until almost gone!
I would have used the top of what Paul has removed from the desk to use as a wall shelf above the desk, and I would have put all the papers that was there in little baskets or file boxes on that new shelf, freeing some floor space next to the desk...
I like how simple Paul made it to remove the part of that desk and yes, what a difference! I have the same struggle you have with wrapping paper and cards, with pens and notebooks! I will never fill all the notebooks I already have, but some of them are such good deals and they're so cute. Yep, I also have to say enough is enough.
I buy cards for all occasions to give as a gift for my mother which she appreciates . She is a card sender as am I . I include 2 books of postage stamps . She more than loves it . Linda
I’m gardening , cleaning out my raspberries. I got some more baby chicks to add to the flock which I am really excited about. Not much travel planned but having fun with the garden yard and chickens
I dry my eggshells and then grind them with a mortar and pestle. It gives the plants quicker access to the calcium and avoids the “litter look” in my garden.
🌻Hi Miss Emmy & Paul, hope you're having a wonderful summer so far and enjoying the beautiful weather! This weekend we took a road trip to a town nearby with a plethora of historical buildings and museums. It was so fun just to get out, take pictures and get our ya-ya's out! HaHa! I also started a blog which has been a fun and creative way to kind of relish our experience and journey. You guys are so inspiring! ~ Lisa
I my experience, sourdough is difficult to get started and to learn the rhythm of feeding, discards, etc. BUT, once you get it, you get it and it's an easy routine. Keep trying and it'll be fine.
Wow your desk now looks so spacious 😍😍😍 I love how Paul fixed that 😍😍😍 this summer I hope I can go visit my family and I will keep it frugal just enjoying the beach with them 🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely loved the tip with turning the coat hanger backwards! My closet is in desperate need of reorganizing! One of our plans this summer is having a yard sale. Our whole (very small) town has a town wide yard sale. People come from all over. Great way to declutter. We also will be having a container garden, moving our driveway to make it more handicapped accessible, installing a new back door, and if able, paint our kitchen cabinets!
Nyssa from “Our Small Footprint” makes sourdough all the time and has at least one video from start to finish. She’s off grid in Australia and has to make almost all her own bread for her family of 8. Can’t hurt to check her videos for tips.
Better to keep all the hangers going the same way. If you are evacuating in a hurry, you can grab a whole load at once. Maybe put all the turned hangers in a group together.
I also put a clothespin around the hook of my hanger whenever I wear a dressier piece of clothing for special events that I do not wash with each wearing. Sometimes I may only wear a clean item for church which is worn approx 3-4 hours. That way I know it’s been worn but not yet ready to be washed. Linda
I totally enjoyed your video packed full of so much variety of frugal tips and such!! Thank you! Our garden is flourishing. Planted zucchini, tomatoes, cantalopes, pumpkins, sunflowers, peas....Basil, strawberries, artichoke and rosemary are in pots. I'm so happy. Lots of flowers and hummingbirds nesting in the trees.... Summer is here...hurrah. Love your Tuesday Shorts...great job! 50K is just around the corner🎉🎉
Thanks so much Sheryl! Yes, our hummies (as we call them) are back too! We are again attempting pumpkins! Different area, different seeds, same determination lol! Hopefully this year!
You can make baskets by sewing together greeting cards with blanket stitch. Cut acetate to lay over the size of the card before stitching through hole punched holes. The holes could be reinforced with paper circle reinforcements. I’m going to make a container garden.
I'm late watching this week, but I'm glad I watched today. I have leftover whole chicken and needed something to with it. I think your saucy chicken will be perfect. I have leftover rice too. Just need sauce and veggie. I didn't do a garden this year. Haven't had much luck the past few years. Planning to do another section of our wooden fence. Doing it in stages as we save up the money to pay cash. I have lots of wrapping paper to use up. Since I have grandchildren, I use the same Christmas paper I get 1/2 price, for their birthdays. They don't care. They just rip it open and throw it in the trash.
WOW! that was a very generous pizza box! So nice of them! Those slices are at least $5 each. I’m loving the app as well and i got my bagels today lol. Im seeing more restaurants joining the app as well. I’m so thankful that you mentioned this app. I’m really enjoying it. Have a great weekend 🎉
Great hanger tip. Definitely going to use it. Your garden is great can’t wait to see them grow. I still wish you were my neighbors ❤. Love your channel. Such a sweet and caring couple. Have a great weekend and week and see you next Friday. Your pizza haul was amazing wow.
Thanks for all your inspiratie ❤️ My project this year is to extend our vegetable garden with extra containers. And have more discipline to fill up an empty space to grow another vegetable when I harvested. I also want to extend the period of growing food in my garden until late in Fall or longer. I live in The Netherlands. Its mostly not that hot or cold, but we have few daylight from November till February. I feel blessed with my garden. Yes, I would loved it to be a bit langer so I could grow more and have some chicken, but it has a warm micro climate.
Loving your delight at the TGTG app. Here in the UK during lockdown in 2020, a local wedding venue branched out to become a greengrocer. When some of our restrictions lifted, they started listing on TGTG and I paid £10 for a mystery bag. I was a bit worried because £10 is a lot of money for something that might not be all that great. I needn’t have worried. We got two large paper bags of organic fruit and veggies, a block of vegan cheese, and a 25kg (55lb!) sack of potatoes! It was brilliant but we were giving away potatoes to anyone who would take them. 😂 I like the TGTG bags from our local coffee shops as they often have sandwiches that I can freeze for lunches for those days when I’ve not been very organised or if I feel under the weather. Loving these videos, thanks so much for your efforts in making them. 💚
I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't been able to succeed with sourdough, I felt I wasted alot of time and money. Same for fishing, I couldn't do that either, 😂
Organizations I donate to constanty send me greeting cards, wrapping paper, etc. I don't use gift wrap or greeting cards much any more so I donate about half my stash to a local charity. And still always have plenty in stock!
Great video! I've put in a big garden, with native plants all around the property border. Inside I have nine raised beds with flowers, vegetables, fruits, and herbs, and I'm using about 15 grow bags too. I also have two grapevines that stretch about 40 feet on a trellis that are now three years old. That means they should be heavy producers this year. Very likely I've bit off more than I can chew. I'm working on a schedule to be able to maintain it all and plan to share extra food with family, friends, and the food bank. The latter is always looking for donations of great fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. I love to give flower posies and starter plants as little gifts to celebrate birthdays and just because. Wish me luck!
Giving a thumbs up is the same as saying, "Thank you". I have watched almost every one of Fugal Money Saver videos and can honestly say I have at least one take away tip from each and every one. So, thank you.
Agree completely! Great tips in every video :)
Bella thank you so much!! Such an encouraging comment!! We appreciate it!
So fun! Love that Helen!
That totally made me tear up!! It’s so wonderful when our kids “get us” and appreciate their odd childhood from their Mum’s whims 😂♥️
Hi Emmy! I've seen your videos on the food saver and wanted to get one. New ones are expensive! Today was my lucky day! I went to a yard sale and got an almost like new one for $1! It had the instructions with it and the lady selling it plugged it in and even showed me how to use it! What a bargain! What a blessing!
YAY!!!!! Darlene patience pays off! So happy for you!

Love that you bath cook for your trips!! What a money saver! ❤️ right back!
Decluttering, No spending and finding frugal fun things like free concerts.
Us too Amy! Sounds wonderful!
That's a great idea!❤
On the wall right over the monitor on desk and can still use for your papers
Thanks Ruth!
I thought the same
Love you guys! Your honesty with viewers and your dual mission of living an economic lifestyle while encouraging others is so uplifting!
Thanks so much Jennifer!! Your comment just encouraged us lol!
Im saving money by using solar lights outside. Solar bank to charge my mobile. I brought a solar oven to bake bread for free
Wonderful! Great savings!
Your garden looks great! My husband took an old piece of screen and nailed it to a wooden frame made from scraps to sift our compost. This summer we’ll be gardening, decluttering, deep cleaning and spending as much time as possible with our grandchildren at Camp NanaPapa. 😊
That's a great idea!❤
Love that Kimberly!
Paul is an argument for cloning! It's so great how great you work together and are a team. I have been following you for the past year. I always learn something; but, even better, I come away feeling like I've spent time with friends. You're both treasures.
YAY! Kelly, we love when our viewers tell us that! Thank you so much! That is our aim!
Keep it up!
Oh what blessing!! So happy you found us too! Thank you!
We are sprucing up our house on a dime by painting our shutters, and painting our boring white front door a pretty color. Then I am going to make a pretty summer wreath for the door. This will all be under 100 dollars, but give the house a nice facelift.
Love that! We REALLY need to paint our shudders too! Thanks for the reminder!
I freeze tablespoons full of olive oil in silicone molds.
No more oil going off before I can use it all.
So easy to pop a frozen cube of oil into whatever foods I am preparing.
That's a clever idea!
I would like to try a very small container garden this summer. And as for summer outings, it is fun to find places of interest within 100 or so miles and make a day trip. That’s a nice way to “get away” and not have to spend money for a motel.
We love that 100 mile for a trip to Phyl! So fun!
Sounds like some wonderful projects in the making! Yes, that's how I feel! I bake some nice bread...not this time lol!
I was just thinking how blessed I am to be one of your subscribers. You are such good, kind-hearted people, with great content! I've been watching or letting the ads play - I know that helps! ❤ God Bless you, both always!
Oh goodness thank you Tina! So kind of you to say! Also, thank you for watching the ads it really helps!! God Bless you as well, thank you!
I even used bottled water from the start for Beatrice! No idea why she wouldn't thrive AT ALL :(
Hang the back part of the desk on the wall above the monitor so you will not need the baskets to the left
Yes! Thanks!
I give a Christmas card with each gift instead of using name cards. Each family member also has their own paper design, in case they have more than one gift, also no need for name tags. Paul I love your garden it is great.
So smart Lisa!
Great tips NJ on the shelf! Thanks! Nothing better than reading in the sun!
Oh my goodness! Paul would love that class! How creative and unique! Good for you!
Oh my gosh that sounds so wonderful! Enjoy!!
Just a thought about decluttering paper. I have gone paperless for all my bills and it saves a ton of paper coming into the house and paying bills online from my bank account is so easy and fast. I know some people still like paper and cheques but once you get used to paperless bills you won’t ever write another cheque again.
Yes! We do that with most of ours too now!
I am continuing with gardening, eating from our pantry, etc. We have been frugal and hubby semi retired, so we have been saving for our summer trip to the Canadian Rockies this summer. A dream trip for us for sure.
Oh how wonderful! Sounds like a magnificent trip!
If you can hold on until Nov-Dec with thst wrapping paper, charities that accept unwrapped gifts often seek wrapping paper donations. Also those whomare wrapping gifts as a fundraiser will accept wrapping paper donations.
Great idea Terry!
I find that since I'm retired and living rurally, I seldom wear dresses and skirts. So I gave away all but a few this spring and made room in my closet for mix and match tops and pants and jeans. 👍👵🤗
My plan is to retire in 18 months. I will not need 1/2 of the clothes I have in my closet then.
So smart Janet! Keep what you use!
Your meal ideas never disappoint!!!!!
Thanks so very much!
The desk hutch can be mounted on wall, say close to entrance or garage. Put on a few hooks for jackets or purses. With a new coat of paint, it will become a vintage Pottery Barn style piece.
Yes! Thanks!
Wonderful garden!
Thank you Emmy and Paul for another wonderful video! Your frugal life inspires me and motivates me. I have so much more gratitude and joy for the small things after watching.
YAY! We love to hear that! Thank you Elyssa!
I became a widow last year so my plans for the summer is to down size our life of 55 yrs together to move to a much smaller house.
Oh Anne! I am so sorry for your loss...
Another winner!!!!love love love
YAY! Thanks Cheryl!
Years ago, My parents gave me their roll top desk that they got at an unfinished wood store. When I needed a place to use my computer my dad cut the top off with his jigsaw. It's a perfect desk with lots of room. Still use it 30 years later!
So smart!
Rye flour with your sourdough starter ..had bakeries for years ..don't give up
RIP Beatrice 🤣 I killed 2 starters, a friend gave me some of hers and so far I’ve kept it alive!!
Yes, we were so sad! I am hoping someone I know has some to share!
Isn't that true! I think we all keep more than we use!
Sounds wonderful! Thanks for sharing Barbara!
Ty
Thanks so much for the encouragement Jackie!
Sounds so wonderful! Thanks for sharing! Yes, we will be eating more of that frozen pizza when our son comes over tonight lol!
were a touristy area. we work, work, work in the summer to make enough to get through the winter. This makes no spend/low spend a necessity because I don't have time or energy for shopping. this lets us work through our preps and restock in the fall before winter. also we try to make the most of the little free time we have by getting outside for camping, hikes, beaches, bonfires with friends and family.
Thanks for watching and sharing Jennifer!
Yes! I didn't show you those rolls of paper LOL!!
We are staying home more this summer!
This week my husband had a weeks holiday and we planted, tidied and painted garden furniture and also decorated our guest bedroom!
So much done and we spent very little money!
Oh I love time spent like that! So rewarding Sheila!
Yes, the chicken released it's own juices!
Yes, great tip!!
This summer I'm working on my traditional romanian blouse which I'm making from scratch, embroidery included. It's gonna be haute couture worthy😁
Oh how amazing Elis!! Sounds spectacular!
Thanks for the video, Emmy & Paul! I have some pet-friendly ideas for the desk parts that you removed:
Thanks Steina! I wish the drawers were bigger but they are teeny lol!
Thank you. I appreciate all of the work you and Paul put into these videos. My summer projects include downsizing flower garden beds and decluttering more closets. We are focusing on budget-friendly travel plans with day trips around our region.
You are so welcome! We appreciate you watching MOS!
My husband and I are camp hosts at state parks in Washington. we get to camp free for 28 hrs of work at the park cleaning up camp site
That is wonderful!! What a great deal!
I have my container garden going, I’m going to decluttering my garage, organizing my cupboards and sewing and quilting every day. I’m going to get my unfinished quilt project done, reading more and extending my early morning walk with my little pup.
Another wonderful video. Thank you Emmy and blessings to you both❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌻
Dana sounds like some wonderful activities! Blessings right back!
Erin good for you! Love that you make and sell your crafts!
Man, you scored with the Pizza .. Awesome
We are looking forward to spending time with our grandchildren, taking them biking , berry picking ,to the park and the public pool here close to home. …Lots of fun free things to do with littles ones.
Sounds wonderful Angela!
I empathize with you about the starter. I have tried to make starter so many times using different techniques. Maybe it is my environment, but when I evaluated how much flour and time I had wasted I decided it was not for me. I hope you are eventually successful.
Yes, we will try one more time...
Good tip to check locally Hannah! Thank you!
(I try to get small plate dishes or a bowl of soup)
We also walk, ride our bikes or have friends over. Often instead of a big meal we'll have coffee and dessert.
Life is good!
Sheila, that money spent eating lunch with your friends is money well spent!! So glad you are in your new home and getting settled! God is good!
LOL!! Yes, poor Beatrice! Donna, sounds like you are one busy lady! The results will be well worth it!
Welcome back beatiful house 🏠 beatiful gardan🎉and faboulous food 😋 frugal couple apleasure and joy to watch always 😊❤
Abida thank you dear one! So kind as always!!
Wow!🤪👍
What a great video! The tip with the hangers in the closet was just what I needed. Thanks!😀
I am gardening like my life depends on it...well, you never know these days.
Gina, sounds like a very productive summer!!
😂 I had to laugh..so loud... when I saw your wrapping paper stash🤣
Because I'm right there with you!!
I bet you I've got 20 rolls🙄
Oh, the shame..lol.
R N at least I am not alone! Yes, portion control is a real thing for sure!
Great idea Holly!
No, I will look into though! Thank you Helen!
This was HANDS DOWN one of the BEST videos you and Paul have put together for us! I learned SO MUCH!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️😎🤩
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
God Bless.
Oh how wonderful! A strawberry already! God Bless you as well, thank you!
I also use the wrapping paper to cover the inside of dresser drawers, kids love it and so do i!😊
Wonderful tips Linda! Thank you!
You could bundle a set of greeting cards with some ribbon and a nice pen and give them as a gift. 😊
Your gardening technique is so neat and organized. 😊 Good job.
Thanks so much Yolan!
Yes, us too! I have great luck with yeast breads!
Don’t waste flour, just feed it when you need it...and keep just half a cups worth in the fridge between activations
Michelle YES! Exactly! What the heck right! I think it was because mine was a Monday LOL!
I've got a couple of closets in my sights and helping at Vacation Bible School. We already made a trip to the ocean about a month ago (we now live in the deep south). God bless 💖🙏👑✝
Yes, I have a few closets in sight as well LOL! God bless you too, thank you Cindy!
Oh my, I had to laugh when you showed Christmas wrapping paper!!! With gift bags in recent years, and we give much fewer gifts, I have had wrap for years! I’m with you, no more purchases until almost gone!
Yes! Thanks Jeanne!
Yes, Paul is very handy! It helps a lot!
I buy cards for all occasions to give as a gift for my mother which she appreciates . She is a card sender as am I . I include 2 books of postage stamps . She more than loves it . Linda
What a perfect gift!
Great video 😁. The desk idea was genius ❤
Thanks Karen! Paul is super creative that way!
I’m gardening , cleaning out my raspberries. I got some more baby chicks to add to the flock which I am really excited about. Not much travel planned but having fun with the garden yard and chickens
Oh baby chicks! Wonderful!
So relaxing to watch you teach frugality. Realized I didn't have the alert bell on😒!! The fridge cleanup video was just what I needed. Thanks
So happy you enjoy our videos! Thank you!
I dry my eggshells and then grind them with a mortar and pestle. It gives the plants quicker access to the calcium and avoids the “litter look” in my garden.
Thanks!
~ Lisa
Lisa that is so wonderful! Good for you!
I my experience, sourdough is difficult to get started and to learn the rhythm of feeding, discards, etc. BUT, once you get it, you get it and it's an easy routine. Keep trying and it'll be fine.
Thanks for the encouragement!
The pizza ruler, again!!! I’m snort-laughing! 😂😂😂
LOL!!! YUP!! Glad we made you smile!!
Wow your desk now looks so spacious 😍😍😍 I love how Paul fixed that 😍😍😍 this summer I hope I can go visit my family and I will keep it frugal just enjoying the beach with them 🥰🥰🥰
The desk is so much better!
So many tips and tricks and I LOVE one pot meals a in the crock pot!!! Have a happy weekend 😊
You as well Gail! Thank you!
Oh yard sales are the best Andrea!
Linda
Great tip Linda! Thanks!
@@FrugalMoneySaver Enjoy your anniversary month😊
You could do a small giveaway for your subscribers. Give a pen and a packet of greetcards
You can make baskets by sewing together greeting cards with blanket stitch. Cut acetate to lay over the size of the card before stitching through hole punched holes. The holes could be reinforced with paper circle reinforcements. I’m going to make a container garden.
Very creative! Thanks Raelene!
So true! You can even turn it inside out so it's'white lol!
WOW! that was a very generous pizza box! So nice of them! Those slices are at least $5 each. I’m loving the app as well and i got my bagels today lol. Im seeing more restaurants joining the app as well. I’m so thankful that you mentioned this app. I’m really enjoying it. Have a great weekend 🎉
We are too Melissa! You have a great weekend as well!
Can you give me the app link please?
Great hanger tip. Definitely going to use it. Your garden is great can’t wait to see them grow. I still wish you were my neighbors ❤. Love your channel. Such a sweet and caring couple. Have a great weekend and week and see you next Friday. Your pizza haul was amazing wow.
Melody thank you! We would of definitely shared our pizza with you lol!
Thanks for all your inspiratie ❤️
My project this year is to extend our vegetable garden with extra containers.
Your climate sounds wonderful! Garden sure give back to us for our work!
Love the idea of a mystery bag!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that hasn't been able to succeed with sourdough, I felt I wasted alot of time and money. Same for fishing, I couldn't do that either, 😂
LOL! Yes, it's been a struggle!
Organizations I donate to constanty send me greeting cards, wrapping paper, etc. I don't use gift wrap or greeting cards much any more so I donate about half my stash to a local charity. And still always have plenty in stock!
Yes!
I'm so impressed with Paul's practical solutions with his DIYs!
He's pretty amazing!
Oh how wonderful!! I am sure it will just flourish!
