I'm 72, and I still have just about evey item you mentiond in the video - plus! Some of them were my grandmother's and some were my mom's who is now 92. They are great to use and much easier to take care of and wash. Many of the modern appliances and tools take up counter space and require an electrical outlet nearby. The old tools work great, fit in drawers and cabinets, and clean up easily. Still have my mother's colored set of Pyrex mixing bowls as well as old blue canning jars that are lovely and useful. Everything was so well-made back then!
I'm 25 and I wish to be as frugal for the rest of my life like you! I embrace my vintage and old kitchen ustensils, either given to me or bought at such a cheap price. Thank you for the practical videos, and hopefully they inspire so many more people!
I just bought a 1936 vintage Singer Sewing machine model 15-91! 😮 It sews like an industrial machine for a 10th of the price! I ❤ it! Yes vintage things do last forever! Great advice 👍
I have mist if them. I'm still using them. My favorite is the metal ice creamer scooper. The new 🆕 nes are made if plastic and they break. I have my mother's peeling knife and her Carvel Hall Steak knifes that r like brand new there from 1960
Thank you for the info on the petunias, I never knew that. My old fashioned item is a rosette iron set I got at a flea market down in florida. The lady gave it two me for 2$ because I was the only one who knew what it was. It will replace my mom's set that got lost when we moved her. God is amazing at how he blesses us.
I love all these old kitchen utensils. I have three different vintage cast iron Dutch ovens!!! Love them. Great for even bread making too. They used to make things to LAST, but unfortunately nowadays it’s cheaply made so you have to buy it over and over which wastes money and fills the landfill. I’ve always said I was born in the wrong century 😂 because I love the old ways!! Our grandparents were the ultimate recyclers using glass bottles that were used again!!❤
From my grandma...a glass 2 cup measuring cup and flour sifter. From my mom.... a rolling pin, a set of metal bowls, a potato masher and a cutco knife. All bring me sweet memories. ❤
Wow. This video brought back alot of memories. We had almost all the same gadgets in our home and I still use some of them today. They sure were made better too. I loved when mom would bring the bed sheets in off the clothesline. They smelled glorious and I think I always slept better that night. New isn't always better. Thanks for all the time you spend researching and putting your videos together. I know your many viewers appreciate this as much as I do. You're the best.
Emmy and Paul, I found your site a few months ago and love your content - and you both! I believe it's never too late to learn and/or relearn. Today's ep[sode was a total delight! I have a few of the items you showed and remember using some others while growing up as a tenant farmer's daughter. I turned 88 years young at heart last week! Congratulations on your 25 years of marriage!
I don’t use an electric can opener. I use a good quality hand held can opener. One thing I miss is an outdoor clothesline. I don’t have one know but did in the past and I LOVED using it. Do you remember the metal poles that could be used to support the clothes lines? My grandmother used them.
Pastry cutters are HARD to find outside of the speciality stores now too; I've got one again! In my younger years, half the time I tossed the pastry cutter aside as I raced through things. I'm finding the advantage of one in terms of flakey etc...
When I graduated from college, one of the gifts my mom got me was an old potato masher, likely an antique, that Mom found in an antique store or boutique. It has a wooden handle and the masher part has slots and looks a little like a question mark when you turn it to the side and have the handle pointing down. (I hope that makes sense). It looks a lot like ones my grandmother and great grandmother used. I love it! Who cares about a few tiny lumps. That's what tells you the mashed potatoes are homemade! 😋 😋
I really use my grandmother's apron when baking with the grandkids, and still use the old rolling pin! Congrats on 25th anniversary and GOD Bless you guys, have a great weekend and 4th!
I don’t own an electric can opener!! Lol!! I have one of my mothers cookbooks, iron skillet, cornbread cast iron which you make the little cornbread in shape of corn, some knives, my daddy’s old homemade Chester drawers and many more things! I’m 73 y/o. I really cherish everything. It means so much to me. I collect anything old. They don’t make things like they use to that’s for sure. I had my grandmothers things which I lost during the hurricane.
I love your blouse, Emmy. Really pretty. I am spring cleaning my Mom's house at the rate of one room per week. She told me if there's anything in the kitchen that I want, to take it. She's 81 and has mobility issues and can no longer cook. I brought home a potato slicer exactly like the one you showed. She has many vintage gadgets and I love them. She also has many pretty little dishes like candy dishes, etc. and I brought home the one I remember always having on the coffee table when I was growing up. She also has tons of cookbooks (some of my Dad's Mom's as well) and we brought home a few of those. Really great cookbooks! Great video as usual!
I don't have an electric can opener, i have a swingaway can opener and use it all the time. My kids don't even have an electric can opener, they're so used to using a manual one it never occurred to any of them to buy an electric one? I have all those you showed plus manual knife sharpener and that hand beater you're looking for, got mine for a dollar at a flea market in a box of old gadgets and no one knew what it was lol. My favorite vintage item is my grandmas 1940 cookbook with all her notes written all throughout the book, makes me feel like she is cooking right along side her again 😊. I hope you and Paul had a wonderful anniversary!!
My mother-in-law is getting ready to turn 81 years old in just a couple of weeks and she always says to us if there's anything I have let me know and I'll leave it for you, LOL she has a small collection of recipe books and that famous metal recipe box with all sorts of clippings in it. She knows how much I love to cook and told me that I could have all of it one day❤❤
I would give $100 for that recipe file!!!! I just love things like that!!!! I've never known anyone who understands the quality of clothes pins! I DO! I have always hung out ALL of my laundry for 47 years. Rainy? I hang them on a retractable clothesline in the garage. Deep purple petunias are my all time favorite flowers. Not roses not lillys....I know they aren't a flower you can cut and put in a vase. But there is something about them that I love!! This was a great vlog. I enjoyed every minut!! Lisa in San Diego
Vintage? Older items in good condition from the thrift store? You've got my attention ... those are the items I love! I also have my mom's old recipe box with her handwritten recipes and yep, recipes she clipped out of magazines back in the day. I love STURDY old clothespins too!! What a beautiful vintage apron you were gifted. I know you treasure it. Oh you two, I just loved this episode. I use my mom's old can opener, potato masher, egg slicer, ricer and let's just say almost everything in my kitchen is either vintage or was my mom's or grandmom's and I absolutely love using all of them!
I still have a VCR and videos that I watch. And a dvd player and dvds. I have several record players and lots of records that we play often. Radios in every room. We love a local community radio station. Local news and our kind of music. No apps or subscriptions for us. I have my mums and my husband's grandma's linen table cloths. My mums vintage singer sewing machine. And a semi grand piano thats about 100 years old . We also have my husband's grandma's dinning table and chairs, kitchen dresser, wardrobes and day bed which noone wanted and were all hand crafted and beautiful.
Well, my kids and grandchildren are growing up. I used an old cast iron waffle maker. It was a stove top. My oldest grandson loved it and asked for it. I gave it to him. Finally he graduated from the culinary so now my oldest thing is my dad‘s old fruit stand hanging scale I still use it. I love it and it reminds me of him every time I use it.
Hi Emmy and Paul, Linda from England, I love your videos, your joy and enthusiasm is contagious and I always feel smiley and happy when I have watched them. The old fashioned gadget that I use all the time is the very thing that you are on the hunt for, I have a hand held whisk where you have to turn the cog which in turn turns the mixer. It belonged to my grandma who passed it down to my mum and I have now inherited it. It looks basic and ancient but I love it. Congratulations on your landmarks: 25 years of marriage and 50k subscribers to your channel!
I have my great grandmothers apron!!! She passed in 1965 but I feel like I knew her because my mother and grandmother kept her memory alive. I inherited her garden hat and apron and her singer treadle sewing machine!!
I'm still using a 1950's Sunbeam Mix Master that I got at Salvation Army 20 yrs. ago for $25.00. It came with 2 stainless steel mixing bowls, and 3 different types of beaters (bread hook, beater and some sort o f square beater). The whole mixer is stainless steel with the top that comes off and turns into a hand mixer with a bake light handle. I've always wanted a Bosch mixer but I can't part with this gem. Everyone that sees it wants it.
I have all of those items in my kitchen! I also have the rotary beater, We traveled a lot in a motor home and now I use them in my kitchen. Love each one!
I have a very unusual old-fashioned item it is a 12 in jar with two 4" rings 1/2 " a part with a long metal pole that connects to the jar lid, there is a turning device outside the jar lid What does this do? It whips cream in no time flat, the cream tastes so much better because it cannot be over whipped. My garden began late I have a ton of cucumbers for pickling, I have tomatoes, and I have cosmos, and hummingbird flowers, I am not done, I planted everything from seed, my peppers, basil, oregano, and strawberries did not germinate, I use Neptune's Harvest fish emulsion because that's what MOM did. The Pickling cukes are gigantic, everything else grower at a lesser pace. Even though gardening starts here, we still have 3 months of grow time here. Congratulations on 50K it won't be long till 100k. Kate
Congrats on the sub numbers. I remember when you first started. Well done. Your recommendations and your conversational style is what makes you popular.
I had that SAME cookie press!!!! I still have all the flat pieces. Sadly, I used it so much that it broke. I was heartbroken. That was many years ago, after I got married! Hubby bought me a Super Shooter I think it was called? Killed that too! I made many cookies all those years for parties and for friends as gifts. How fun!! I used it for Jello cookies, red and green for Christmas, the tree design. The camel was my favorite design. Thanks for sharing, as it was SO FUN to see these all again. I just adore your fun videos, with so much information. Blessings...
I have an old fashion corn tortilla press and a cast iron grill my uncle welded for me to cook tortillas on he passed away so I have kept as a memory of him I love you guys your both awesome .
Hi, Emmy! I remember mom ironing the delicate tops like you did with the ties from the apron, by placing a fabric on top of it. It warms my heart seeing you do the same things like my mom ❤
I have two things to thank you for. First, I downloaded the Flashfood App and I used it. I got a 7lb chicken, eye round beef and 4 chicken legs/thighs for $12. The chicken alone was more than that at full price. Second, I made the chicken today and used your frugal roasted chicken recipe from 12/15/19. It was so good. It was juicy, flavorful and just perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes and information with us. ❤
After seeing you cook from the vintage Betty Crocker cookbook I went on a mission to find one. I was thrilled to find the three ring version for $5 at a flea market. The meatballs you made are called Waikiki Meatballs in this version. Cant wait to make them! Thank you for the inspiration!
I use an old fashioned carpet sweeper on my rugs. No electricity is needed. I have never owned an electric can opener 😄 I use quite a few of the same manual kitchen tools that you do. Thanks so much for the petunia tip!
My comment would be how great cast iron pots and skillets are. I have several as I can't bear to get rid of them! I use them in the oven and on the stove for all sorts of cooking and baking. Keep them clean and oiled and they'll last forever!
Hello Emmy and Paul! I am a new subscriber and am so happy I found you! I have been a semi-frugal person for many years, and since the pandemic have become a full-fledged frugal person! Your videos have taught me so much, and for that I thank you greatly! Congratulations on reaching 50K subscribers....so greatly deserved! Have a wonderful weekend and 4th of July holiday!
Congratulations on 25! We just had 33!🎉 I have so many non electric gadgets from our parents that we love and use. My husband uses his mothers peeling knife. She had 8 kids . A lot of potatoes 😂 I use a glass juicer that always works best and also glass 1 cup measure with the numbers part of the glass...so they will never fade. It also has 3 pouring spouts! ❤❤❤
I have a lot of my mom’s recipes and one of her aprons. It’s so teeny tiny. She married in 1940 and was an itty bitty thing. ♥️ I believe the fabric on the back of your apron is organza. So pretty.
Oh I recall the excitement when the French fry cutter came out! Such a rare treat due to all the oil involved. Now I can envision doing a bunch of root vegetables and roasting them in my oven. This video is a treat!
What a pleasure it was to watch this video! So many warm memories! And yes, I used a hand held can opener literally yesterday 😅 We still use many kitchen tools that came from our grandparents! 😊 Congratulations on your milestone 50K subscribers! 😊
I still use the set of pots and pans that my mom bought in the 1960’s, and I love them! Congratulations of 50,000 subscribers!! I was so excited to see it 🎉🎉🎉🎉
So many memories of using the crank meat grinder that hooked on the kitchen table. My mom would take inexpensive cuts of beef and we would grind it down for hamburgers or meat loaf. I think I’m going to look for one of those next flea market.I still have my vintage coffee pot. Came in very handy when Sandy hit.We cooked everything on our camping stove and barbecue. Very enjoyable video. Keep ‘em coming👍
I am still using two heavy-gauge stainless steel mixing bowls my mother had when I was a child; I'm now 79. Nothing today equals their quality. And I still use aprons--the old fashioned ones that aren't so heavy and hot. Congratulations on your 25th anniversary, you kids! Wishing you many, many more years together.
I use a rotary hand crank mixer (like you’re looking for), a hand held can opener, as well as potato masher. I feel like they’re easier to use and to clean than they’re modern counterparts.
I'm hopeful that I can find my mom's hand crank mixer in one of the boxes from her house but I think it was tossed out with most of her stuff when she moved.
I have my mom's old stainless steel electric skillet she bought from Amway back in the early 70s. Still heats up and cooks great. Also, my mom's hand frech fry cutter. Doesn't look like yours. Mine has legs on it and made of plastic and medal. I remember my mom using it as a kid, and that was back in the early 70s also.
Hello Emmy and Paul, I use the hand held items that you showed today except for the nut crusher. I use my caste iron pots too. Thank you for the petunia tip. I do not use pesticides of any kind on my garden….. just water and sunshine. Your you tube channel is so inspiring, and it is my favorite subscription. Thank you and God Bless✝️❤️🇺🇸
Loved this video.. wanted to say I really liked the old fashioned apron. When my husband's grandmother passed away her daughter gave me her handmade aprons. I treasure them. There were several so I decided to hand them as curtains in my kitchen. I have had so many compliments on them over the years. Glad you shared how to care for them.
First of all, Happy, Happy Anniversary! 25 years and still going strong, I can tell! I got scared because I thought you had gone off the air but it turns out my notifications had gotten turned off for some reason. Glad to find you again! My old fashioned-style household item is a clothes rack. I do not use a dryer but instead dry on the rack. It saves alot of money on energy, keeps my clothes newer longer, and I can do it in any weather. Also, a cheese grater is helpful and saves and a lot of money. Emmie, would you mind if I made your mother's recipe for mulled cider this Christmas? Well, keep up the good work! Blessings, Miko from Maryland.
Lovely to spend time with you both and I will add my congratulations for your Anniversary. Delightful video as usual. You and Paul are like the best next door neighbours. Bless You both too.🙏♥️😄
Congratulations on reaching 50k I just sat down to watch you after cutting up a watermelon into pieces so it’s really to go and making peanut butter cookies, seasoning bread crumbs and croutons. Doing some house work in the morning when it cooler. I have been working on having home made meals os that when I to busy to cook I don’t have to order food. I have been enjoying our hummingbird feeder it’s so much fun watching them. I so happy to have clothes drying racks back as mine had broke I was able to get 3 folding racks from marketplace for $15 Canadian dollars for a 3 two are made very well and The other one is wooden one as live in a apartment os the dryer racks help keep laundry cost down .
Hello everyone. Thank you Emmy & Paul. I have been watching from my phone for a while now & just created a channel today in that I can communicate with the community. I enjoyed seeing your tools. I also enjoy the "old fashioned" tools because I prefer more hands on when cooking/food prepping. I only use a non-electric can opener. It is a Swing A Way brand. Excellent quality. I use all the tools you mentioned except the cookie press & nut grinder. One of the tools I use is a non-electric egg beater/batter mixer. I have copied down many of the vegetarian recipes that you have posted. I appreciate your sharing. Have a great weekend.
I have the potato masher and the meat hammer, I also have the old fashioned post hole digger where you turn the handle on top and it drills into the ground I also have an older thick blade knife that I use as a can opener when needed . I have a stove top perkilater. And an old heavy metal hand made grill. Old fashioned iron, And more
I love using a vintage aluminum measuring cup, 1/4 cup size. It fits in my utensil drawer and I can use it for most measurements (just use mulitples for more than 1/4 cup.). It reminds me of my childhood since that's what mom had. Also vintage aluminum measuring spoons on a ring. My apron was made by my Grandma when I first married 39 years ago. And I have several glass bake refrigerator containers for leftovers. Bringing the 1940's into my kitchen!
I still use my grandmother's soup pot, from the 1940's. She gave it to me when I married in 1966. Ware Ever was a company right here in West Bend , Wisconsin !
Hello, Your Mums potato chipper, I would bet, never made a French Fry in its life. My Ma had one and used it to make chips (not crisps, potato chips, as in Fish and Chips). I don't think she knew what a French fry was. She would have probably said, "You mean those horrible skinny things?" I had never encountered a line separator, we have a prop. The current version is a metal and plastic rod that lifts the line up high, keeping the washing off the ground and, if there is a breeze, letting it dry the washing. In olden times, straight branches with a forked end were used. Another lovely video. Thank you.
I still use the heavy metal manual vegetable and meat grinder to grind cranberries for my Mom's cranberry salad recipe. Grinding the cranberries added juice that was caught in a bowl which added more flavor to the salad. I keep it in a wooden box my Dad built for it. Also I inherited the variety of spoons my Grandpa carved for my Mom, which I also use.
I only have an electric can opener now because it was my mom's and I grabbed it when their house was being emptied. It's nice for larger cans but most often I prefer to use the handheld one.
Congratulations on reaching 50k subscribers! I am in my 60's and use my grandma's solid glass celery holder as a flower vase. It's really heavy and well made and reminds me of my grandma when I use it x
I have a 1900 cast iron hand crank corn shucker/thresher. We used it up into 2009 when we grew corn for animals and selling. It works and will certainly keep your arms tone! Like you I have quite a few of the old kitchen utility tools that I still use. I have crank apple corer, sausage grinder, etc. If I'm ever in an antique store, I make sure to check the antique kitchen utensils out.
I have a hand can opener, potato masher and meat tenderizer! I also just purchased an old fashioned mower, no engine!! I use aprons a lot, and just found a lovely, hand embroidered table cloth!!
I see you’ve made 50K subscribers….that’s fantastic and much deserved! Nothing vintage in my kitchen, but I do have a newer potato masher and a hand can opener…..I do have, and use, a vintage clothespin bag which belonged to my grandmother….the wings looked mouthwatering! Thanks for all you guys do for your subscribers….
I have an old fashioned bun warmer. I use it all of the time. My mom used it every meal. I haven’t seen one in a while. The one I have is well used for sure.
Congrats on the 50K and I still use the wooden cabbage shredder I smuggled into my luggage from Europe many moons ago. All these items you showed are so simple and logical and when there is a blackout they really come in handy. Your garden is looking lovely and see you next week, many blessings and enjoy the week. 😉
I still use my grandmothers tea kettle every morning. It’s copper bottom whistling basic kettle. I’ve also picked up several old copper bottom Revereware pots and I love those. I use manual can opener and cast iron skillets & Dutch oven but those are all newish. When it comes to pots and pans I’ll use cast iron or vintage any day over the new stuff.
This showed up in recommended videos. What a pleasant surprise. I use all those tools you showed and more. I did update my cookie press with a new old fashioned press that doesn’t use that turn knob. I found it in my hardware store. The French fry cutter can be hard to press down, but makes great fries. I switched to cutting them with a knife. I use 1970s food chopper. It has that 1970s orange handle.
I have a couple that I use. There has been a market in Philly that has been in business for many years. My ancestors had a vegetable stand and a butcher stand close to each other. They met, fell in love and married. I have some extremely old knives and a ladle that I use. Also, when we were kids, once ina while we were allowed to put our potatoes thru a hand river. It made those plain potatoes the greatest thing ever. (At least we thought it did.). I still use it to this day. I love old things so I have others as well including an old set of nut crackers and nut tools. Have to try those wings! They look amazing!
Thanks so much ! Definitely agree those old school pieces of equipment were certainly built to last ❤️we still use an inherited jaffle iron to make toasted sandwiches, and a mini, ironing board which is meant for sewing to do small bits of ironing while watching telly at night. It sits perfectly on Fhh e coffee table and hey presto the ironing is done before you know it. Lots of love.
Yes please, may I come and taste one wing? It looks that you had a great day, your smiling all the way, I am happy to see. Cooky jars keep amazing freshness to produces. Old baking tins are the best to bake crisp and dilicious pastry. Castiron pots make the best stews and soups, the heat stays in it so the cooking is very even
I have a potato masher that is round with holes. I use it to mash hard boiled eggs for egg salad. I use my old fashioned grater to mostly grate cheese and wore out my flour sifter. I bought a pounder from italy that you add a piece to if you want to put little holes in meat. It also has a part to form hamburgers. I have all the cookie cutters that go back to the 1930's and a donut cutter or biscuit cutter that has a wooden handle. The cookie cutters also have wooden handles. We used clothes props to keep the lines up. Long thin boards that had a V cut out of the end. The clothes prop man walked through the whole city selling them. I used them until i moved in 1998. I am sure people still use them in Camden NJ if they hang their clothes out.
🎉First of all... HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on 50K Subscribers!. I bet when i first started watching you a few years back during the pandemic that you never dreamed youe channel would have grown so fast...😮🎉 I have and use all your "vintage" appliances you showed except the spritz cookie. Hope you find the hand rotary mixer...i love mine...it was my moms.... Yes hand can openers are the best! I always use my OLD and very loved aluminum measuring spoons and cups that I have had forever. Even though I have newer fancy ones...thats what I reach for..lol. I love my copper ones too that were my mother in laws. I still search and collect vintage utensils that are NOT mass produced. Though now trying to be selective since I am decluttering too. Ha ha... Like the pyrex...and corning ware...how much do i need at my age? If you lived closer than on the opposite coast I’d give you a rotary mixer since I have an extra one that I snagged at an estate sale 😅 Happy Fourth of July!
A neighbor who lives down the road from us several years ago had a yard sale. At the end of his yard sale he put out a box that said free. I did not go to his yard sale but I did stop at that box later on. Inside he had a manual can opener that he was just giving away for free. That was probably 10 years ago and I'm still using that can opener.❤
We are having a cooler then usual Summer as well here in Indiana. It has just gotten "hot" the past week or so. We have had some hot days but cool nights, which tomatoes, corn and peppers all enjoy hot nights. But things are coming along , we have had green peppers, some cherry tomatoes, harvested 2 bushels of potatoes, 2 bushels of sweet onions. We harvested snow peas, radishes and lettuce earlier this Spring. Just planted turnips and will put out another planting of lettuce, radishes etc. Great buy on those wings. Love wings but they are too expensive most of the time. I remember as a teen they used to practically give them away.
Thank you for the tip about cutting petunias. Guess I was taught wrong but now I know! I still have my MIL’s old rolling pin that lost its handles but I just use it without and it works perfectly well.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching!
I'm 25 and I wish to be as frugal for the rest of my life like you! I embrace my vintage and old kitchen ustensils, either given to me or bought at such a cheap price. Thank you for the practical videos, and hopefully they inspire so many more people!
So wonderful you are here!! With your positive attitude you will be frugal for sure lol!! Thanks for the kind words!
I just bought a 1936 vintage Singer Sewing machine model 15-91! 😮 It sews like an industrial machine for a 10th of the price! I ❤ it! Yes vintage things do last forever! Great advice 👍
Oh how wonderful! What a wonderful find!
Isn't that the truth! He is so faithful!
Yes, exactly! We have become a society of disposable products!
From my grandma...a glass 2 cup measuring cup and flour sifter. From my mom.... a rolling pin, a set of metal bowls, a potato masher and a cutco knife. All bring me sweet memories. ❤
Wonderful, Robin!
So many things to celebrate! 25 years, 50,000 subscribers! Both were accomplished with hard work and love!!
So kind Mary! Thank you!
Sheila, thank you as always for all your encouragement!!
Happy Belated Birthday Dear Shirley!! So happy you are a part of our family! Thank you!
Hey, I’m a Shirley ,too! It’s a old fashioned name now, guess we were both named after Shirley Temple. I am 74.
I love old kitchen gadgets. They are made so well. We have our old Swing-A-Way manual hand crank can opener that we love.
Yes, we agree!
I don’t use an electric can opener. I use a good quality hand held can opener. One thing I miss is an outdoor clothesline. I don’t have one know but did in the past and I LOVED using it. Do you remember the metal poles that could be used to support the clothes lines? My grandmother used them.
My dad actually made my mom one out of a tree branch that supported hers lol!
My old fashioned item is a hand sifter for flour. Congrats on your 50K subscribers and your anniversary. We love you guys.
So kind! Thanks so much!
Pastry cutters are HARD to find outside of the speciality stores now too; I've got one again! In my younger years, half the time I tossed the pastry cutter aside as I raced through things. I'm finding the advantage of one in terms of flakey etc...
I use my old hand sifter too!! My grandma always did and so do too!!!❤
When I graduated from college, one of the gifts my mom got me was an old potato masher, likely an antique, that Mom found in an antique store or boutique. 😋 😋
Love your attitude! So true...homemade is wonderful!
I really use my grandmother's apron when baking with the grandkids, and still use the old rolling pin! Congrats on 25th anniversary and GOD Bless you guys, have a great weekend and 4th!
Thanks so much Connie, you too!
I still use my moms old fashioned nut grinder. Makes me think of her every time I do. ☺️
I have my grandmother's wooden rolling pin
The memories associated with these items are so precious!
No, they really don't make things that way anymore!
So kind that you are helping your mom! Love that!
Oh that cookbook is a treasure!! Thank you!
My mother-in-law is getting ready to turn 81 years old in just a couple of weeks and she always says to us if there's anything I have let me know and I'll leave it for you, LOL she has a small collection of recipe books and that famous metal recipe box with all sorts of clippings in it. She knows how much I love to cook and told me that I could have all of it one day❤❤
Oh how wonderful and special!
Lisa, thanks so much for all your encouragement! A good clothespin is priceless lol!
I love your flowered top. Gorgeous print-looks great on you.
So kind, thank you!
I wouldnlove it if you did a series of economical meals from the vintage Betty Crocker cookbook!!
Oh that's a fun idea!
I second this idea. That would be great.
Yes!!
Thanks so very much! It was a fun video to create!
Oh what wonderful treasures!! Thanks for sharing Barbara!
Oh how wonderful! So precious you pass these treasures along!
So kind! Thanks for the well wishes!
I have my great grandmothers apron!!! She passed in 1965 but I feel like I knew her because my mother and grandmother kept her memory alive. I inherited her garden hat and apron and her singer treadle sewing machine!!
Oh what lovely memories! Thank you for sharing!
50K!!! Congratulations !!! 🎊🎉🎈🍾
Thanks so very much!
Oh how wonderful! I bet it's great!
I have all of those items in my kitchen! I also have the rotary beater, We traveled a lot in a motor home and now I use them in my kitchen. Love each one!
How wonderful Eileen!
Kate
Kate thank you!! Oh that little cream whipper sounds amazing!
Pretty outfit, Emmy! Great color on you!
So kind Cynthia, thank you!
Congrats on the sub numbers. I remember when you first started. Well done. Your recommendations and your conversational style is what makes you popular.
So kind! Thanks for sticking with us LOL! You re appreciated!
Oh thanks for sharing your memories! I don't use that press enough lol!
God bless you both and all of your viewers. 🙏🏻
So kind! You as well!
Thank you!
Your videos are so much fun and entertaining I could literally watch all day long .
So kind!! Thank you so very much!
Have a safe and fun weekend! Congratulations on 25 amazing years with your best friend. I also wanted to congratulate you on 50k subscribers.
Rebecca, thank you so very much!! Yes, he is indeed my best friend!
I have an old fashion corn tortilla press and a cast iron grill my uncle welded for me to cook tortillas on he passed away so I have kept as a memory of him I love you guys your both awesome .
Oh how wonderful Beatrice! What a treasure!
Hi, Emmy! I remember mom ironing the delicate tops like you did with the ties from the apron, by placing a fabric on top of it. It warms my heart seeing you do the same things like my mom ❤
Thanks so very much!
50,000 subscribers! Woo hoo! Excellent anniversary present. Thank you for sharing so many great tips with us. Mille grazie!
Thanks so very much! Prego!
I’m 65 and have almost all the items you showed. I love the french fry cutter and have used it for over 45 years.
Wonderful Debbie! Thanks for sharing!
YAY!!! Love to hear that! So glad the app saved you so much! Isn't that chicken wonderful!
After seeing you cook from the vintage Betty Crocker cookbook I went on a mission to find one. I was thrilled to find the three ring version for $5 at a flea market. The meatballs you made are called Waikiki Meatballs in this version. Cant wait to make them! Thank you for the inspiration!
YAY! Great find and price! Enjoy!
I use an old fashioned carpet sweeper on my rugs. No electricity is needed.
I have never owned an electric can opener 😄 I use quite a few of the same manual kitchen tools that you do. Thanks so much for the petunia tip!
You are so welcome! I love the idea of the carpet sweeper!
Paul’s Umbrella is so decorative! Great video as always.
It's mine LOL!!!!
My comment would be how great cast iron pots and skillets are. I have several as I can't bear to get rid of them! I use them in the oven and on the stove for all sorts of cooking and baking. Keep them clean and oiled and they'll last forever!
Absolutely right Janet!
Welcome Lori! So happy you found us! Thank you! You as well!
Eileen, that juicer sounds great!
I have a lot of my mom’s recipes and one of her aprons. It’s so teeny tiny. She married in 1940 and was an itty bitty thing. ♥️ I believe the fabric on the back of your apron is organza. So pretty.
YES!!! I couldn't think of that word! Thank you!
@@FrugalMoneySaver 💕
Oh I recall the excitement when the French fry cutter came out! Such a rare treat due to all the oil involved. Now I can envision doing a bunch of root vegetables and roasting them in my oven. This video is a treat!
Thanks so very much Maureen!
What a pleasure it was to watch this video! So many warm memories! And yes, I used a hand held can opener literally yesterday 😅 We still use many kitchen tools that came from our grandparents! 😊 Congratulations on your milestone 50K subscribers! 😊
Thanks so very much for the kind words!
I’m still using a very old cast iron fry pan and a hand held masher. The wooden handle was painted but the paint is gone. Great video today.
Thanks so very much!
I still use the set of pots and pans that my mom bought in the 1960’s, and I love them! Congratulations of 50,000 subscribers!! I was so excited to see it 🎉🎉🎉🎉
So kind Sherry! Thank you!
I think they made everything better decades ago. Good for you still using your moms pots and pans. My mom had the same fridge for 20 years
Still have my Moms metal egg slicer. It still has original wires. Its awesome.
Thanks so much for the encouragement!
Paul is a little trooper out there with his cute umbrella! The wings looked delicious.
Isn't he though lol!
I really like the old-fashioned graphics you’ve been using lately on your promo pages. Ah, the good ol’ days. 🙂
So true...! Thank you!
Thanks so very much!
Boy! Those wings do look delicious!
So good!
I use a rotary hand crank mixer (like you’re looking for), a hand held can opener, as well as potato masher. I feel like they’re easier to use and to clean than they’re modern counterparts.
Yes! Linda, I agree!
Wonderful little kitchen helpers for sure!
Happy Anniversary! I still have my grandmothers recipe box with her recipes in her handwriting. 😊
That is awesome! What a treasure Cindy!
Love the vintage apron Frugal money savers. Thank you for sharing. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Hello Emmy and Paul,
I use the hand held items that you showed today except for the nut crusher. I use my caste iron pots too. Thank you for the petunia tip. I do not use pesticides of any kind on my garden….. just water and sunshine.
Your you tube channel is so inspiring, and it is my favorite subscription.
Thank you and God Bless✝️❤️🇺🇸
Maureen, what a lovely compliment! Thanks so very much!
Congratulations on 50,000 viewers and happy 25 th wedding anniversary . Love your show .
Thanks so very much Mary!!
What a clever idea!
So glad you found us again! Yes, those notifications are so important!
Lovely to spend time with you both and I will add my congratulations for your Anniversary.
Delightful video as usual. You and Paul are like the best next door neighbours.
Bless You both too.🙏♥️😄
Thanks so very much Merryl! you as well!
Sounds like a wonderful productive day!!
So happy you can be a part of our sharing community Pamela! Thank you!
I have the potato masher and the meat hammer, I also have the old fashioned post hole digger where you turn the handle on top and it drills into the ground I also have an older thick blade knife that I use as a can opener when needed . I have a stove top perkilater. And an old heavy metal hand made grill. Old fashioned iron, And more
Sounds like some wonderful treasures for sure!
Congrats on 50K! You both deserve all the good, we appreciate you!
Oh how wonderful! That apron is priceless!
I still use my grandmother's soup pot, from the 1940's. She gave it to me when I married in 1966. Ware Ever was a company right here in West Bend , Wisconsin !
Oh how wonderful Judy!
Hello,
Your Mums potato chipper, I would bet, never made a French Fry in its life. My Ma had one and used it to make chips (not crisps, potato chips, as in Fish and Chips). I don't think she knew what a French fry was. She would have probably said, "You mean those horrible skinny things?"
I had never encountered a line separator, we have a prop. The current version is a metal and plastic rod that lifts the line up high, keeping the washing off the ground and, if there is a breeze, letting it dry the washing. In olden times, straight branches with a forked end were used.
Another lovely video. Thank you.
You are probably right about the fries!! Thank you!
That is awesome!
I have the first 4 items you showed. I never wanted an electric can opener to take up space! Thanks for a great video.❤
Oh how precious! I bet it is lovely! Thanks so much!
I saw on another video, someone was using manual pastry blender to make mashed potatoes. I thought WOW! That would work!❤
Great idea!
Happy Anniversary! Love your channel! I have a manual can opener that "came with my husband." We've been married 39 years and it's still going strong!
Yes, so many people don't think to look for those kitchen items! Thanks for sharing!
I have a hand can opener, potato masher and meat tenderizer! I also just purchased an old fashioned mower, no engine!! I use aprons a lot, and just found a lovely, hand embroidered table cloth!!
Oh how wonderful Sheila! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sticking with us Carolyn! Much appreciated!
I have an old fashioned bun warmer. I use it all of the time. My mom used it every meal. I haven’t seen one in a while. The one I have is well used for sure.
Hi I am 54 I can relate it's good they were good quality and best part no electricity
Hi Kerry! Yes, saves money!
I still use my mother's electric knife from the 1960s that she used to cut roast on holidays. Now I use it to cut the turkey on Thanksgiving!
I use an electric knife to slice home made bread. Makes it simple. 25:28
That's a treasure!
I like to use a wire hand wisk to beat eggs! Congratulations for the big number of viewers and the 25th wedding anniversary!!
Thank you so much Janet 😀
I have a meat tenderizer, masher like you showed, and aprons. I'm grateful for them.
Aren't they special!
Thanks so very much Hilda! You as well!
What a gem that tea kettle is!!
So happy you enjoyed the video! Thank you!
Oh what a great story! Yes, the wings were very good!
Oh waffle irons are the best!
Yes please, may I come and taste one wing?
It looks that you had a great day, your smiling all the way, I am happy to see.
Cooky jars keep amazing freshness to produces. Old baking tins are the best to bake crisp and dilicious pastry.
Castiron pots make the best stews and soups, the heat stays in it so the cooking is very even
Of course you can come taste one!! Thanks for the kind words!
I just loved this video . I have all the old fashioned gadgets you showed except for the French fry maker. They are great and still used
That is awesome Susan!
Wonderful comment! Thanks so much for sharing!
🎉First of all...
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on 50K Subscribers!.
I bet when i first started watching you a few years back during the pandemic that you never dreamed youe channel would have grown so fast...😮🎉
I have and use all your "vintage" appliances you showed except the spritz cookie.
If you lived closer than on the opposite coast I’d give you a rotary mixer since I have an extra one that I snagged at an estate sale
😅
Happy Fourth of July!
Thanks so much Sheryl! One can never have too many Pyrex LOL! So kind of you to say you would share! Happy 4th!
Isn't that wonderful!
Oh my goodness Allison! Your garden sounds amazing!
Thank you for the tip about cutting petunias. Guess I was taught wrong but now I know! I still have my MIL’s old rolling pin that lost its handles but I just use it without and it works perfectly well.
You are so welcome!
