MY 5-STEP FORMULA FOR HEALTHY SMOOTHIES:

► Step 2 - Fruits (1.5 cups)
► Step 3 - Veggies (1 cup)
► Step 4 - Thickener (optional, 1-2 tbsp)

#1 - APPLE KIWI GREEN SMOOTHIE (520 calories for 2 glasses)
LIQUID:
► Almond milk (1 cup or 250 ml)
FRUITS:
► 1 green apple, cored & sliced
► 2 kiwis, peeled & sliced
VEGGIES:
► Spinach (1 cup or 30 g fresh / 110 g frozen)
THICKENER:
► Avocado (half)
► Frozen ripe banana (half)
BOOSTERS:
► Ginger (1/4 inch slice)
► Hemp seeds (1 tbsp or 10 g)

Great choices! I have to make meal shakes for my dad because he's 92 and bed-bound. He has two smoothies per day. I add water and almond milk and a bit of pineapple orange juice. I switched up the fruits and vegetables and always I'm sure to put in flax seeds, hemp seeds and chia seeds in every smoothie as well as either vegan meal powder or vegan protein powder and everything that goes into the smoothie is organic.❤

As a side note, if you are using a NutriBullet, the steps need changed since you put in the ingredients differently:

Thanks so much for watching! Yes whey protein powder can definitely be used as well - in fact, since it typically already contains sweetener, you can use it as a substitute for maple syrup and reduce the sugar content in the process (with the benefit of extra protein)! It's a great choice :)

For someone using a bullet blender instead of a full sized one, how would you suggest changing the proportions?
Hi there! Great question. It would depend on the size of your bullet blender (mainly the size and capacity of the cup) as I've seen quite a variety of different sizes. I have a Nutrubullet that comes with a 24-oz cup, and I find that it generally works well for the quantities suggested. Again, depending on the ingredients you use - if you use some larger ingredients (like the large, bulky frozen spinach blocks that I use) and find you run out of room in the blender cup, you may just want to reduce everything by 1/4 or 1/3 to start. Hope that helps!

Hi there! I typically use vanilla natural whey isolate protein, I like it for its clean nutritional profile! I like brands such as ON, which is one of the better tasting brands to me. Hope that helps!

Is there a way to suggest what meals person could eat to balance out the day in healthy ways?
That's a great suggestion for a future video! Thanks for sharing and I'm glad to hear there's interest in more healthy recipes. Generally, I like to stick to whole foods every meal - a typical meal for me has some source of protein (chicken breast, turkey, fish, etc.), a portion of carbs (brown rice, quinoa), and unlimited vegetables. I can definitely come up with more content in the future to offer more suggestions on how to achieve this, but I hope that helps for now!

I actually got mine from Walmart! Perhaps it may be a store-by-store (or regional) thing as far as availability goes? I'm in Canada, and they're called Great Value Natural Chopped Spinach Nuggets here :)

I have a question ,am watching from Kenya, I went to shop for a blender and was told there some that cant take frozen stuff as it will mess it up so they said I need higher wattage how many watts is your blender?
Great question! My Vitamix blender (the one shown in the video) is 1500 watts, but I also have a small Nutribullet Pro that's 900 watts that works for frozen fruits/vegetables in smoothies as well. Hope that helps and hope you'll be able to find something that works for you!

Used this formula for my own green smoothie and LOVED it! However, I found it generates a LOT of liquid - like 3/4 glasses. Way too much for one sitting. Anyone else found d this and what do you do? Fridge or freeze the remains?
Hi there! Typically each recipe makes about 2 large glasses - you can certainly refrigerate the remains if consumed within a short period of time, however it's best to freeze them. I like to pour them into ice cube trays - it makes them super convenient, easy and ready to blend whenever you feel like having a smoothie!

I've heard repeatedly that watermelon,Canteloupe and another which slips me now are whole fruits and should be had by themselves. Are you aware of this information?🙄🇯🇲
How come frozen foods are healthy?
Great question! While not all frozen foods are created equal, and some are definitely packed full of preservatives and other unhealthy things, frozen fruits and vegetables are not one of those! In fact, research has shown that frozen fruits and vegetables can have just as many (and sometimes more) vitamins when compared to fresh. Plus, they offer the convenience of being able to eat out-of-season fruits, and preserving their shelf life in the freezer so you can enjoy them any time. You can also buy your own fresh fruits, and then freeze them yourself for the same benefit. Hope that helps!
