This thing in the center of the sensor broke off when I wiped it off, Will the car go into limp mode or can I drive when waiting for a new part?

Without being able to see the part I can’t be sure, but that would not be recommended… it probably would go into limp mode or maybe create a diagnostic trouble code that you would need a computer to reset…

@@bigtalltim it seems to work without it. Now im curious what this tab in the center is

If you mean the cage kinda thing on the tip of the sensor (the bit that goes into the pipe and is black and oily in this video) it is probably just to stop lumps of sludge getting into the pressure sensor itself…

@@bigtalltim Oh okay. Then I might aswell run it until I notice its starting to fail! Thank you for your replies and sorry for my bad explanation :)

If it was me, I still wouldn’t - you can’t be sure that something isn’t going to fall out of the sensor and get lost somewhere in the engine… probably undue concern, but it is a cheap enough part - I’d just slap a fresh one in! Cheers

Hi - what engine do you have? For the 3.2 petrol it is located on the lower part of the intake manifold - at the electronic throttle module

Hi, did you replace as part of regular maintenance or was there some other symptom?

    • @bigtalltim

Hi - that is a great question! I usually replace these at the same time as the MAF sensor, but didn’t the last 2 times… this has been on my list for a while - I usually swear by the old adage “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, but this has intermittently given a DTC (error code P0106) so it was due. Thanks for watching!

Would this be the same location as a 2008 3.2L XC90?

Hi Adam - no… as I recall you will find yours at the bottom end of the intake manifold… right next to the electronic throttle module… thanks for watching!

Depending on your engine of course, (and Im basing this on the 3.2) try the bottom end of the intake manifold… right next to the electronic throttle module.

We have a boost sensor issue on our 53 plate xc70 and there's literally no space to even get a tool to it. It's Asif something maybe bent. You have much more room than me... The sensor is almost touching the chassis.

Yep… that stuff is packed in pretty tight; I’ve had the same issue with a v70 and S60. those little universal joint things can really help - and yes… very happy to admit that the xc90 has me spoiled for ease of access!

at least it shouldn’t be in too tight, but I’d still open with a squirt of penetrating oil, and give the end of the extension bar a few light taps with a hammer to help loosen things up - good luck!

Definitely only use enough grease to lube the grommet, but you won’t believe how much of a difference it makes to fitting the new sensor!
