      It’s not a serviceable item as in it’s not included unless there’s a real issue where this sensor could be faulty. Same for the Air flow sensor in the air intake pipe which also should be cleaned

      recently bought a 2.4 D5 s60 215 bhp well serviced showing 99.000 miles and 30 mpg on the average trip., one of my first jobs was clean this sensor nothing else then run and see if the mpg improved (Tip clean with EGR spray) and yes 10 mpg improvement and a smooth tick over! then move on to the MAP sensor, all oils done/filters changed the car runs great! well pleased

When the power loss happens there is no turbo a hesitation of power and if you give minimal reves you can sometimes feal the power come bake in again as it builds up and the turbo fires again and all is dandy .. putting foot hard to floor just reduces power most of time .. ive serviced it myself new filters all round fuel air oil etc ..I have volvo vida on lap top but I haven't got the cable to interact with the car ,looked on ebay and they about 150 notes at moment .. any advice from you guys would be much appreciated..thanks

    Just had this replaced, car feels smoother and mpg has gone up a bit.
    Symptoms that started before I took the car to a volvo garage :
    * When engine became warm, there would be revving but no acceleration, had to press the gas pedal hard to initate a kickdown, then it would accelerate fine for a few minutes then same thing would happen.
    * Lower MPG than what I was expecting
    Hopefully this helps someone to look at this sensor first and not worry about the gearbox which the garage thought it was at first.

      Is the fuel consumption actually worse or does the processor in the vehicle engine management system THINK that it has got worse? When your on-board computer suggests a fuel consumption figure it will take in loads of parameters, do some processing work, and throw out a number. It does not count the molecules of fuel passing before a sensor, for example. If your pressure sensor is choked it CANNOT be a bad thing to clean it. You probably has a false reading before and now you know the truth.

    UPDATE: it's under the airbox and air intake duct. It's right down the bottom of the car. Some people have suggested you remove the bumper or the under tray to access it. You will need a torch to see it clearly. Basically, if you have a 2007 or 2008 model, it's not as easy, so give yourself plenty of time to remove it and clean/replace it.

      Does your engine make an extra noise like knocking? I also own a 2008 d5 and 2 years ago it started a little knocking noise when I push the gas pedal. Two different mechanic couldn't find any problem but this "sewing machine" noise drives me crazy

    • @Legalaxe01
      @Legalaxe01 3 года назад

      @@hattorihanzo8549 Mine do not make that noise no. Any other side effects to it besides what you mentioned? Gotten any worse since then?

    • @hattorihanzo8549
      @hattorihanzo8549 3 года назад

      @@Legalaxe01 It does not cause any other problems. Fuel consumption, performance, acceleration, everything is normal when driving at a constant speed. There is this noise until the car reaches a constant speed, noise is strong when you start driving the car. The exhaust pipes, battery, axles were checked but could not find anything. It only decreases a little when the engine warms up, but still continues. I thought the problem might be about EGR but then mechanics say it would then ignite a fault code. But no fault codes either. Thanks for the response

      Had the same problem as you are experienceing .
      Was desperate and then i have changed the top engine hydraulic mount.Cheap part and did it my self.
      The knock disappeared instantly and also no more vibrations in the steering wheel at idle.
      The engine mount does not trigger a fault message,but instead it gives strange symptoms that ressemble more like bad injectors,bad valve lifters and pistons.
      For me it was a 40€ part.Others went to mechanics that didn’t know how to coreectly diagnose this and before getting to the real Volvo mechanic that solved it,they changed injectors,high pressure fuel pump,egr with no result.
      This hidraylic pillow collapses and the engine touched the frame,so hence the knocking.When you dismantle it you will see marks on there.This is located on the right side of the car,simehow under the coolant reservoir.You can also change the one on the top.It the aluminium one that you can see.It is easy to change and cheap.That is the one responsible with the movement of the engine,back and forth.Counterbalance.
      Also on the left side of the car there is the one that sits between the chassis and the gearbox.Also hydraulic.Kind of expensive part,tho,but that one does not fail that often.
      So,begin by changing the first one in the link that i have sent you.You will thank me later !

    Put a new air filter in aswell those are cheap enough, the sensor itself is ~40€ here.
    If its really nasty the entire intake manifold and EGR Valve needs to be cleaned aswell.

      Tricky to get to but yes, have a look at the right side of the intercooler. (Right as if you're standing in front of the car). Easy to see, not so easy to get the screw back in. Still worth doing as access is a little bit of a pain and most peeps dont bother.

    First time owner of volvo. Got d5. Disappointed with that engine noise like fuck me i dont like even putting my foot down especially on take off as the engine noise just makes me feel like there is something wrong with engine even though notting wrong. That noise could be refined. Louder then most other diesel engines out there. Not very relaxing when stuck in traffic listening to that engine rattle. Otherwise good. 👍

    Q2: what about inside of the engine block? (Place where put the sensor). I saw lot of shit there. Should I clean it to?
