I recently had a bad map sensor in my Chevy. It mainly acted like it wanted to cut off at idle and had hesitation when hitting the gas.
T - Thanks for sharing your experience!
Hi, I have an Abarth Punto with EVAP fault codes. I also have a fault code for Overboost and Turbo Vacuum. I’ve done a smoke test and it’s got no leaks from the manufold/EVAP side and also the turbo system.
Plugged my TopDon in and on live data, I noticed the Air Pressure was reading at 25000Mbar on idle snd 8000mbar when idling. Is this a sign of a failed MAP sensor?
So im having a issue with my 2008 ford focus in the beginning i had a p2196 code for a 02 sensor bank 1 sensor 1 stuck/ rich biased code i was having rough start ups sometimes its struggles to start and sometimes it starts right up and when it does the rpm's drop then fluncuate then idles and when i put it in drive the rpms drop and slightly struggle to rise and when i try to drive the car it stutters ,hesitates, jerks and has low power and cant really get higher than 4k rpm's and if im at a stop light the car may or may not stall and if it does i smell feul amd get a banana check engine light i replaced the 02 sensor and also put in a new valve cover gasket due to a leak and new spark plugs wich had a light colored charred color on them And after the new sensor the code and check engine light went away but im still left with the same syntoms and when the car stalls i get the p2196 code and check engine light again but when i start the car back up the check engine light is gone but still poor engine performance. Im lost between sensors, feul and air and could really use some guidance
Thank you very much, good information indeed!
L - Thanks for the feedback! We hope it was helpful.
Can a weak battery cause this code to come up? Recently needed a jump and didn't have an engine light until after the jump.
E - Do you have any engine codes? Not likely.
Could a bad maps sensor make one of my coil packs keep going bad. I have a 2012 dodge avenger
C - Not likely, but it can make your engine misfire.
Ok thanks, I got an Avenger that keeps having the same coil go out. Trying to cover all my bases
C - Keep us updated on this.
My map is 27 years old. It didnt throw a code but in testing with a good scanner its showing way to much voltage and nesrly no kpa at any given time. I bought a new one and it resolved the problem what you left out is it causes tons of misfires snd csn even mske your transmission not shift at all or very improper. My 2.2 Chevy now gets much better fuel mileage and it fixed several other issues. No more misfires no more not going into lock up and it nearly doubled my gas mileage.
T - Thanks for sharing this insight. It will certainly help future viewers.
Would you recommend buying one from a wrecking yard? Those sensors are super expensive. My Hyundai accent needs one
K - Probably not. But they aren’t that expensive, not sure where you’re looking.
I’m getting map sensor symptoms but not getting any map sensor codes. I have gotten fuel is too rich and misfire on cylinder 6. Truck runs fine unless I have a load or I accelerate too fast. Truck will start jerking/shaking and will lose power, Engine light will blink. When I let off gas and and either coast or come to a stop the light will stop blinking and truck back to normal
J - interesting. It could be the MAP sensor. An easy test would be to clean it and see.
@@8020Media forgot to mention, I pulled the map and it was dirty. Cleaned it with the spray and it still looked like crap. Put it in, truck ran a lot better for couple days but back to doing the same thing. Replace the map?
J - Might be your best bet. It's not a very expensive part. Keep us updated.
I’m having the same issue. Did you replace the sensor? If so did it fix your problem
@@jacobbirket6120 have been too busy to get to it but I’ll probably do it next weekend. I’ll let you know if it fixes the problem
Can 36F400,36F600 codes be related to bad MAP sensor?
Thanks

@8020Media, thanks for your reply. Yes, I already saw this video, but the thing is ,he didn't really tell what he did. He stopped at Egr and said he needed to inspect ,check that ,but after not even saying what the problem was with egr....
A - We do think it is EGR related. However, it seems like this code is quite vague, so we're going to have to do some digging.
@8020Media mine been in for recall 3 months ago, so shouldn't be clogged etc...
Car in drivetrain and can't get it out of it! 😢😮
A - Sorry to hear. Hopefully this gets figured out for you!
Limp mode please help can't get it past 30
C - Any engine codes?
@@8020Media well it did say throttle sensor 1992 k1500 gmc 454 big block limo mode none electric I have carb I'll try map sensor replacement first
I'll try replacement map sensor

I had my engine light come on right after replacing the timing chain on my F150. Used a cheap OBD II reader and found it was turbo over pressure reading. Cleaned the sensor coming from the air box and problem solved. Looked like the mechanic changing out the timing chain might have got some dirt in there. I already had a can of MAS cleaner on hand, so cheap fix. I'm sure if I took it back to fix the problem it would have cost at least a $125 diagnostic fee. 😅 7:16
A - Love hearing this. Thanks for sharing your experience!
04 2500hd silverado map sensor is 138.95$
J - Thanks for the insight.
No check engine light 💡 comes on -I have to pump the gas pedal a few times for my truck to start if I don’t it won’t turn over 2. It kill’s while I’m driving -- someone in the comments help me out 🙏
Sounds like your throttle body might be stuck or something. You might still have a code hiding in there even if you don't have a check engine light so try reading codes
@@8020Mediaok thanks- I changed the MAP SENSOR AND ITS DOING BETTER BUT STILL KILLS WHILE IM DRIVING SOMETIMES- it’s been 2 days since I changed it
B - What do you mean kills while I'm driving? Like it's stalling? If so, this video may be helpful: ruclips.net/video/7bqAIbYRdnc/видео.html

Can you clean it
J - You can certainly do this before replacing to see if cleaning it fixes the issue.
@8020Media hey there! Just wanted to make sure I heard you correct. You CAN clean MAP with MAF like crc? also do you know of a Cleaner I can use for Mitsubishi? Because CRC product says not to use on Mitsubishi 😅😢
@@LL-eb7bnyes. You can use MAF cleaner for MAP sensors.
