- Here's the previous video (about creating a budget): • Creating a Budget
This is Step 2 of "basic/minimalist finances" for beginners!
Here are the 5 ways I talk about:
1 - automate everything
2 - address subscription services
3 - address lifestyle expenses
4 - address social expenses
5 - unsubscribe from emails and social media that makes you want to buy things
I source my royalty-free music from the rad dudes at Epidemic Sound: share.epidemics...
"After consciousness comes control" might be one of the best widely-applicable principals for life I've ever heard.
deep stuff
In my opinion, if someone shares their streaming service with you, you should voluntarily contribute to the cost.
Grocery pickup/delivery is THE most luxurious form of self care out there.
Not having to squeeze a giant metal basket between people for hours? Ugh. Effin spectacular.
Agree, also $100 worth of groceries is heavy to bag and to drag home. I have no car.
Having groceries delivered is well worth the membership. I also tip.
If you ever think of some further input on this topic, please tell us. I never get tired of this topic, I just click enthusiastically.
I love doing the cash envelope system it really helps when you physically have to hand over the money verses just swiping my debit card.
I prefer getting rewards money from my Visa card. Also, don't want to carry cash due to possibly of being robbed. It's crazy out there.
Home made banana bread made from heavily discounted bread bought at the end of the day. Sultanas, dated, and sugar and salt to taste. Can't be beaten.
You are so cute with glasses! :) Thanks for your videos.
Thank YOU, nexsolost! 😊
Really loved the tip on faking cancelation so you can get a discount! Gonna try that one on my phone bill, I'll let you know how it goes ;)
If you have an electric hot water system (especially a smaller one) try this! When you go to bed turn it off from the fues box so your not keeping water hot for all those hours that your not using it! In the morning I get up and I have coffee and I also turn the hot water back on.... it's amazing and it looks as though I might save about $100 per month (with smaller systems it only takes about 20 minutes to heat up)!
Oh one of the great things about cats is that they hate showering, and they are self cleaning! So cat's don't cost much, Lefie - have I ever told you that I thought you should get a cat?! :-)
lol cats don’t cost much... until you learn about FORL.
When I was 19, as a high school senior I had a part time weekend job that paid me $35 a week. I went to the bank every week and deposited that money. I never had money before. At the end of a year, I had almost 1k saved up for college tuition. It was very motivating and satisfying.
I found that tracking my expenses manually and not automatically gives me a better understanding of what I'm spending my money on. For example, I set a budget of €150 per month for eating out or getting food delivered, and the one month I didn't track my expenses, I went WAY over the budget.
I need all my money to support/protect lemurs :) Donations, Adopt a lemur, etc... :)
Sorry I took so long: went and watched the first video...then kinda got distracted listening to music after I clicked on your link! :) I was here 26 seconds after you posted and it's been an hour now and you have 1162 views!! :)
Great stuff Lefie! I like how you mentioned automation - keeping things simple helps maintain great habits :-) I recently got into grocery delivery and I can’t go back to regular store shopping anymore :-)
I would never unsubscribe from you !!!
😁
We are often tempted to do the opposite and that creates so much stress
I feel like I was just sent to the principal's office for not doing my homework
Thanks. That's a good base to start with. When I was younger I used to take my change and put it into my savings account. Those little bits added up. You can open an investment account as well and the interest will accrue. It's great how that works.
We will never unsubscribe from your channel! Till next time.
Even tho I started my financial health journey a couple years ago and feel pretty good about it - I still enjoy every video you put out about it.
Just to hear someone else's view. Also it's super refreshing to hear you talk about it from a very human experience.
i live for your content, thank you
😁 Thanks for watching, Sacar!
Seriously love your channel. Your uploads aren’t enough for me every month. Lol
Pls dont stop making videos
hi you're lovely. just here to say i'll support you and keep watching if you choose to branch out and make videos on another topic :)
I shopped around on my phone plan. I got more for 1/2 what I was paying. So that extra money went into upgrading myself to a new used phone. My old phone was 5 years old and I wanted a new one. Unfortunately I smashed it like 3 months later. That repair bill hurt.
These finance videos have come at such a good time for me! Big Love from the UK
5:40 Torrenting is love, Torrenting is life.
I kinda already do most of these things but hearing you talk about it is just fun, i love it, you're very good at it hahah :3
morning good morning
you look lovely this morning - It’s mostly because you seem happy and your eyes are really clear and untroubled - that’s all i think
Love the videos .. your videos look so simple !!
Between my household and my parents', we get so much shared accs. Spotify, netflix, xbox, prime, Funimation, etc. It really helps
I need to go rewatch you budget video hahahaha your beginning reminded me in the best way! Youre spot on with your content these days - ty so much for the time you put into these (thumbs up!!!)
Fantastic content, as always
Once I turned 30, I automated my IRAs, 403b, and investment accounts. No brainer, paid myself 1st.
Can't grasp how anyone likes to live in such a bare apartment. I get, that you like the white/grey/black backbone. But nothing is added. Not even photography in the same non-colors.
This is what my husband picked, since he is colorblind. He was afraid he would make mistakes (and indeed he did make some very funny ones). But now color and warm wood surrounds us and some, mainly faux, plants. Looks like a home, instead of a place to sleep. Can recommend it.
I stopped overdraft too.
i want to know more about lefies awesome skincare routine. she radiates so much goodness from her.
Thank you for the adobe tip, just saved 25 a month.
Go and study marketing. If you're anything like me, you'll get so disgusted with their methods you'll have to overcome yourself to buy anything.
11:34 aight that's all i needed to know thanks and goodbye
Oh yeah, stopped video at 12.36 to go online to buy black socks. Back now xxx
Dave Ramsey talks about behavior with a budget. I havent really heard anybody else talk about that
I think you've probably heard Kate Kaden talk about it, Scott! Xxx
Don’t tell me to watch another video my thumbs are tired. I’m here to stay.
I would never unsubscribe to you! But I am going to my email right now to start unsubscribing to all those stores that send me junk mail everyday 😉
Someone said “want to know the way to double your money?” “ fold it in half and put it back in your pocket” lol
Damnn u glowinnn
👍👍
Having everything on direct debit is the only way it works for me...
yoooooo i'm early
The subtitles are so out of whack I can't piece it together.
People who aren’t social being told not to do something if it’s not with other people: 👁👄👁
Here algorithm, have a meal on me: 🍕🍔🍟🧁🥤
It may be an unpopular opinion here but I would urge people to pay for their own subscriptions. I know people like to get things for free or "stick it to the man" by sharing credentials but there are real people at the end of the day making a living at those companies.
the streaming services are the middle men, so if you're really worried about artists urge people to support them directly, either via direct downloads (like Bandcamp for musicians) or by signing up to patreons of people they like. Or donations, or merch even.
Or by going to shows, festivals, etc. Currently not an option a lot of places, but just saying that streaming doesn't equate to actual support.
Look into how Spotify distributes the payouts and you'll realise it's not in the interest of the general artists, but rather in large labels and mainstream artists.
Do you like Kimchi? If so, you should consider making it, filming it, and showing us.
What's up,?
1. don't buy anything
2. eat from the garbage cans of others
Is it ok to hoard money and be a minimalist? This is out out of the blue , I know.
It's okay, but hoarding money sounds like you have a deepmseated fear of losing it. Maybe address that fear first and foremost 🤍🤍
The best way to save money is use cash and to never think about money, but instead question the need for expenditure when expense is required.
This will make you tight... Just keep being tight!
Its that simple.
@Bleh cash in the hand is a physical way of making a transaction. If trying to save you are conscious of the transaction in a more objective way.
Transfering 200 pounds/dollars is no different to transfering 20 pounds/dollars when using the card (with exception of the physiological aspect). Handing 200 in cash is clearly differnt to handing over 20.
Try to use cash and be tight with it as best you can... Trust me it's the best method to saving.
With savings money, it depreciates over time... So saving money is pointless if inflation can't be met inline with by the banks.
So then you need to think about how to invest in items or other assets that will generate a return.
Good video. Always good to discuss the subject. When it comes to money though, the theory is always straight forward when the reality is different. This is because of the 'impulsive' nature of human beings.
Last year I bought an original signed poster for 100pounds. Recently seen another from the same band signing up for sale for 10,000 pounds. Better I spent that 100 hundred than saved it in the bank.
@Bleh look love, piss someone else off or go swig a gallon of diesel or something. Sadly the internet invites everyone... including morons!!
Am I really First?
