fantano is part of the reason i started listening to power trip when i first saw this video. shortly after i discovered that they were playing near me and it was one of the best shows i had been to in a long time.
@@AntColston damn. they were incredible every time i saw them. the pool pit they caused at psycho las vegas was something to behold. i wish you could've gotten that experience too

His reviews are always based around 5 being completely average, not like in school where a 7 is average. So him giving an album a 7, especially a modern metal record which he is always extremely hard against, is pretty damn good.
@@AntColston How is a 7 "average" in schools? How can you even determine what "average" is for school grades? I'm sure the average is much lower than a 7 (70%) in a lot of schools.
No fucking way in all the depths of Hell is Iron Reagan heavier than Power Trip. Power Trip isn’t trying to be Punk they’re straight up HardCore… WHAT THE FUCK IS UP DENNYS!!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
I wish he would because he really knows his stuff and i've found a few cool metal bands because of his reviews. I couldn't give a shit about hip hop to be honest.
i care about metal too, but be honest, most people dont, its nowhere near as close as popular as the hiphop/pop stuff the melon reviews, simply because more people listen to that rather to metal
Metalheads are not his primary audience, so it comes as no surprise. I'm just glad he still does review metal, and takes it seriously - even though he knows it won't gain the same traffic as anything trap/hiphop/pop related.
This is one of the only reviews I'm going to have to entirely disagree with you. This is one of the best metal albums released within the last 10 years
Would rather hear a "badly" produced album of a good live band than the opposite. That was the beauty of old school thrash/hardcore bands. If the riffs sounded awesome out of a shitty cassette boombox, or crappy car stereo, you knew the show would be that much better.
this album is so fucking good. I thought their debut was OK, but this is way better. It's not innovative or that unique, but eh... hooks are memorable and the production is great.
I disagree about the political commentary - Power Trip might have less than other bands but lots of their songs are political and/or do comment on society, especially in this record. Check out Waiting Around to die, Ruination, If not us then who, Crucifixation... they all sound 100% political to me. Also.... RIP Riley Gale, man, so sad
Agree so much with this, I think it's clear that Anthony didn't catch what Riley was doing with his lyrics, something you have to sit with for awhile. 10/10 album for me in every way.
Anthony, I love the enthusiasm and poetry you brought to this review. 3:14 "They have this chunkiness to them that reminds me of some of Anthrax's best releases back in the day, but, of course, these guitar riffs are executed with a speed and aggression only a punk could love." 3:57 "This song will do to a moshpit what a giant canister of gasoline will do to a wildfire."
These guys are the Sublime of thrash metal. They’re just getting recognized on the scene an Riley’s life is cut short. The grief when I found out I’d never see them! RIP Riley
How do you give so much praise and say "if i had to pick a leat favorite track.." and compliment everything but its a borderline 7? Holy crap, tough critic
Milo Hempel it was a good album overall but i dont think the slower songs like blinded by your grace and cigarettes and cush suit stormzys style, although im a playlist guy so im happy to take mr skeng, cold, lay me bare etc to add to my playlist, 7/10 overall. it would have been better if it was like wileys new album where as anthony said it was "unadulterated fucking grime" because that album was a 9/10 for me although some may say im being narrow minded and putting him in a box by saying his slower songs sucked thats just my opinion though.
robbie maclean yeah you pretty much nailed it I think. Mr skeng goes hard af I liked one or two of the slow songs though, velvet was cool. And yeah, godfather fucking bangs
I feel like stormzy has become repetitive, his hit songs all sound the same to me. The hook is always centred around one word, (cold, standard, scary, shut up etc.) he fits into the category now I like to call "mainstream grime", which is a category i feel is he doesn't suit
This album should have been a light nine at the least front to back it’s amazing and holds up so much and even more now since the recent and unfortunate events Riley forever
I think the 7 Anthony gives here is one of the most positive 7s I’ve seen. Wondering if on a revisit he might score it a bit higher. I’ve only grown to love it more with time.
Tied with Laster's album for favorite metal album of the year so far. I always struggle to fully get into the Thrash sound, but this thing fuckin' bumps.
The best metal album I heard in '17. Yes it sounds retro, but in a modern way which is what all of us who grew up with that style of music want. Deserves an 8 at least.
It really slays and has interesting song structures with very atmospheric moments. I love the agitated feel and the energy is up there, sincere, love it.
At 3:10 you say "like a semi going full speed with the brake lines cut" but semi trucks use air brakes, and the air releases the brakes rather than actuates them. If the lines were cut on a semi the brakes would lock up and it would slide to a stop.
Saw these guys a few days ago on tour with Iron Reagan and was very impressed. Their live show is dazzling without trying too hard. They seem like cool guys too, so that's always a plus. Go see them if you get the chance!
Can you please review Jidenna New album? I didn't know about his music until you reviewed his single and I liked his new album. I was wondering if you think he ended up mixing the old and new in a interesting way. The idea of the chief was pretty hyped for me.
i just discovered this album yesterday and i've gone through it about 3 times. i really like it alot. this is the best thrash album i've ever heard not from the original era. every song will make you want to bang your head, play air guitar, and wild out.. anthony nailed the comparison btw these guys who are true to METAL/hell/speed and the other bands who sound more hardcore/city/clean. this album is a 9.
Hey Anthony Im not a regular commenter, but I'm a huge fan of music and appreciate your honesty when it comes to music, I hate to bother you but I think you would like the new they record, Nu religion-hyena, I liked it and wanted to see your opinion, keep up the good work Anthony!!
You know I'm surprised Mongol Horde wasn't covered by melon head when it first came out. Really fresh post hardcore, metal imo, album. Did you catch it Anthony? I just think it needs far more love.
Hey Anthony, I've been watching your videos for a while and I really enjoy the way you execute your reviews. From your video editing to the review itself, its all pretty dope. I know you haven't reviewed much hardcore punk, but can I get your opinion on /Parachutes/ by Frank Iero and the Patience? It's one of the MANY bands that former guitarist of My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero has been apart of. I personally really like the album, but I wanna know your thoughts on it.
