Great review of a really great project. One thing to note music wise, Deja Vu was for long time fans. It’s an alternate version of the Fade Away beat, a more uplifting iteration. He includes bars incorporating the old song title and even ends with a direct reference to it. As someone who was a long time fan all the way back in the datpiff mixtape era, but fell off a bit during commercial run Logic, this song gave me chills. His whole progression from No Pressure through now makes me so damn happy for the guy. You hit the nail on the head when you said he finally made the album he’s been trying to make for years. Gorgeous production, the most introspective bars I’ve heard from him, and stellar showcasing of flows and deliveries. Fucking fantastic project. Worthy of the yellow flannel
Even tho Logics buzz got a bit lower the past years, you see the views of this review are so much higher than the last uploads from Fantano. People saying Logic fell of from the numbers or the music is literally brainless and sad. The man is still relevant and I love the message of this new album.

I'm glad to see logic getting some love. it's easy to forget but logic really was running the game to an extent back in the late 2010's. I feel like the retirement did happen, but in a different way: he stopped being a musician for money (which much of his late-2010s music was) and is now making what he actually has a passion about. That shift definitely benefitted the music quality.
Paul Rodriguez is probably the best opening track of the year. Glad Logic finally realized that he's much better at being a Lupe than being a Kendrick.
@@delsix1222 Oh no shot yeah ofc. (For the record though, he made the Lupe comparison himself: "Aye check is this that Lupe in 06") It's a comparison not for biting flows but for where he decided to take his rapping. He didn't need to be a savior of hiphop like Kendrick, he just needed to rap about himself and spit hot bars like Lupe.
Anthony please check out Madison Cunningham’s newest album “Revealer” and maybe review her next one. The guitar work is gorgeous and so unique and the production is so tight. The kind of music you can play for your grandparents but still feel super cool listening to
I really love how Fantano actually liked this album. He seemed to be excited talking about some of these tracks and it made me feel good, because I liked the album too. It's nice to see melon have fun reviewing again
For me, Logic was matured a lot since "No Pressure", compare to Eminem, Eminem at this moment still blatantly re cycle his old idea especially with his Slim Shady, persona and sell it to his Stan.
A few observational notes: 18:00 Im surprised that City In the Stars was listed as least favorite. In my opinion, Logic has a good ear for talent and the feature was incredible. Logic sounded fresh as hell on this mellow spacey classy glossy beat, the content nicely wrapped up Logics perspective on his come up and where he is now which is a common theme in the album but it goes over nice here. One of my personal favorites. Im also surprised Peace Love & Positivity didn’t get any talk. A big theme of Logic’s career (sometimes unintentionally) is his battle with identity. This song to me reminds me of a b-side from TPAB (yes i said it). The glossy beat reminds me of These Walls with the lyrical content of Complexion off the same album. Definitely inspired but not a cheap imitation like some cuts off his earlier stuff. Peace Love & Positivity is a cut that definitely belonged to Everybody but im glad it showed up on this album because Ultra 85 is definitely a “coming of age” album for logic. This song is pretty compelling to me. Another note, antidote and 44ever are tied for my least favorite here however i didnt care for them much anyways because they didnt play into the theme of the album. I just brushed them off. I liked the hook on teleport, the joke got a little stale after the first listen but it was still fun. Skits were hard to sit through purely because of voice acting and the story progression didn’t do much for the Logic-verse. Still a light 9 for me because the real meat of the project was amazing.
City of stars was good but I think fantano didn’t like it mainly of the last verse when logic was spitting that dictionary rap which tbh we didn’t need
@@manolakiosThat's the way every day goes... 🤷♂️ I don't even really comment on these videos, I just saw an opportunity with a positive logic review and took it
I feel like with logic, explaining the whole music as an escape revelation that he explains finally is the WHOLE POINT of Ultra 85. The point is to grow closer and closer to the listener with his previous albums, explaining his mindset and relating, and then finally letting the listener in on a secret: if you do what you love, you don't need drugs, alcohol, lust, any sort of temporary high to make your life fulfilling. You don't need to prove anything. He lived it and showed it: anxiety, depression, and any mental struggles we go through can be conquered if you stay true to yourself, are honest, stay close to your loved ones, and just find a healthy coping mechanism for life. Everyone goes through shit, so you can't just try to suppress it. Find something you love and practice it, hone that shit, work towards goals, and use alcohol or weed to ENHANCE your life, not escape from it.
Dude, I was fully set on ignoring this new logic album drop and this review made me heavily reconsider, I loved his music, beats, and the topics he covered especially from No Pressure, but I always felt like he was always surface level with what he talked about, your review made me really excited to listen to his new album. @@jumpsurferbeen listening too Hip Hop my entire life you have no idea what your talking about Logic is a great Hip Hop artist
Bro LOGIC got an 8, 2024 really is the best year for hip hop
i predicted 2024 would be his year when vinyl days came out.
"Best year for hip hop" is what a delusional hyperbeast would say🤣🤣🤣
@@iangarcia1585 I mean recently, not all time
Logic gon cry when he sees the yellow flannel
Paul Rodriguez is probably the best opening track of the year.
Glad Logic finally realized that he's much better at being a Lupe than being a Kendrick.
at being himsef*
@@delsix1222 Oh no shot yeah ofc.
(For the record though, he made the Lupe comparison himself: "Aye check is this that Lupe in 06")
It's a comparison not for biting flows but for where he decided to take his rapping. He didn't need to be a savior of hiphop like Kendrick, he just needed to rap about himself and spit hot bars like Lupe.
Biggest compliment to logic because Lupe> Kendrick
@@doomdeadshot1179 I wouldnt say that.
Lupe's been acting extremely bitter as of late. Sad to see someone of his caliber go this route.
@@radicard5193 bitter how the dude is the best lyricist of all time no one comes close to
Anthony please check out Madison Cunningham’s newest album “Revealer” and maybe review her next one. The guitar work is gorgeous and so unique and the production is so tight. The kind of music you can play for your grandparents but still feel super cool listening to
If he had named it “To pimp an ultra 85” fantano would’ve given it a 10
Imboutafindya
the ultra 85 situation is insane
I could almost see this seriously happening
Logic got an 8 before GTA VI
This is the only funny "before GTA VI" comment I've seen thus far fs

can we talk about that cover art real quick? it looks so beautiful 🥺
Sam spratt pops off on logic covers. He always has great art

Looks a lot like the cover art of 'Monster Movie' by CAN (1969)...

I really love how Fantano actually liked this album. He seemed to be excited talking about some of these tracks and it made me feel good, because I liked the album too. It's nice to see melon have fun reviewing again
Calling Steve Blum, who is Spike from Cowboy Bebop a bad voice actor is… an opinion. Def an opinion.

The evolution of Logic-Fantano relationship has reached its peak/new high here. Lovely. Just lovely.

U think maybe fantano is kinda losing passion and getting burnt out too so he sees himself in logic?
A much deserved 8. One of his best albums to date.

Logic's new album is better than Eminem's new album, the student surpasses the teacher
For me, Logic was matured a lot since "No Pressure", compare to Eminem, Eminem at this moment still blatantly re cycle his old idea especially with his Slim Shady, persona and sell it to his Stan.
Eminem isn't really a major inspiration to Logic; Wu-Tang, DOOM, Kanye, and Cole seem to all be more influential on him
@@meowcat7124Logic mentions Eminem all the time as an inspiration
@@meowcat7124he literally mentions eminem on this album

Especially since he mentioned him a lot in the album
A few observational notes:
18:00
Im surprised that City In the Stars was listed as least favorite.
@@BrianJr_Can you blame it if the flow is that strong?
Logic is still crying happy tears because of this video

I know you're not a narcissist, Anthony, but giving an 8 to your own album doesn't help the argument.

This was the whole point of his first 3 albums
Saw the yellow flannel and seriously thought he was talking about some other guy who's also named Logic for a moment.
Would’ve never expected Logic as the next guest reviewer
Dude, I was fully set on ignoring this new logic album drop and this review made me heavily reconsider, I loved his music, beats, and the topics he covered especially from No Pressure, but I always felt like he was always surface level with what he talked about, your review made me really excited to listen to his new album. Ty so much
Do it. You will REALLY enjoy this one and honestly it was WORTH the wait. Took 10 YEARS but it was worth the wait good sir. Hope you enjoy it! Love and respect!

@@mequana Vinyl Days as Logic's BEST album? Over Under Pressure & The Incredible True Story? That's wild to me.
