    most important thing in a racing game is good controls that feel right for the game you are playing, excitebike 64, out of all on your list, I think nailed that the best.

    • @n64glennplant
      @n64glennplant  3 года назад +3

      I’d probably agree with that for best controls

    • @JeremyRiedel
      @JeremyRiedel 3 года назад +4

      "Excitebike 64", like "Wave Race" before it, had extremely nuanced controls for arcade style racers, and to this day these two still stand tall for that reason.

    I'm one of those people that like XG-2 more than XG. I mean, they're both good, but nostalgia pulls me more towards the sequel, with all its weapons to use, and great track design. I do agree with the analysis of the games graphics and framerate though.
    Many great classics on this list! Glad to see you're back after the hardship you've been through.

    • @SirChocula
      @SirChocula 3 года назад +1

      My complaint with XG is that you could just hit your turbos and let go of the controllers and the walls would bounce you back to stay on course. I didn't find any fun due to that anymore. In Mario Kart for example, you'd be knocked into a pond or elsewhere and had to get picked up, I didn't feel the punishment in XG which killed the sense of a good course design.

    Road Rash 64 is awesome. You can jam your weapon into the spokes of the opponents wheel and make them go flying. I never see people do it in their videos but I use to do it all the time just for laughs. If you do it with super bikes on the straight track, they would fly so damn far.

    EDIT: Forgot to mention that Extreme-G's performance can be vastly improved as well. As far as I know, there are no gliches that occur in Road Rash 64 and Extreme-G due to the frame rate setting of the emulator, unlike Conker's Bad Fur Day... I did find Extreme G -2 battle mechanics rather interesting, but often the tracks difficult, if you have played the game you know what I mean. I do think however in XGTR they were able to find the right balance.
    Despite the pure sense of speed with Extreme G III, Extreme G remains my favorite, would be nice to see it on Nintendo's Online Service.

    Glenn your take over Road Rash reminds me that game received an High Resolution Texture Pack. Off course this would not run on original hardware, but I ask myself If playing with these Graphic improments makes the experience better overall.
    Did you consider make a series about these homebrew "improvment packs" for N64 games. My computer was not strong enought for playing these games with High res Textures (and I admit playing N64 with anything but a N64 Joystick is always a mission) but maybe is not the case for you. Have you tried them?
