Extreme G has a great soundtrack. Sometimes I play it just for that. And to be honest, in Star Wars episode 1 I never bought anything from the scrapyard. I remember as a kid my plan was: first invest in some repairbots, then save up to buy the best engine, so I can go as fast as possible and let the repairbots deal with my lack of handling xD
Beetle Adventure Racing is easily my favorite racing game on the N64 :) That game really surprised me when I first played it. And it's still an absolute blast to play.
I loved the graphics back then, no racing game had such vibrant, colorful and deep detailed worlds to explore. If a racing games rewards exploration i like it being slower (just a bit) if its arcadey cruis'n style then i want FULL SPEED IDC ABOUT GRAPHICS IF IM GOING 200MPH TBH.
The Extreme-G series is so underrated. The 3rd entry on the GameCube is fantastic. Anyone remember the competition N64 Magazine ran where you could design a bike for the game and the devs would include it into the final game if you won? Suffice to say, my design didn't make the cut.... I actually don't know if the devs went and included a fan design in the end.
Hello Glenn! I just wanted to let you know that i’ve watched about every single one of the videos on this channel, and I love it to death. I’ve been a minor game collector for years now, and just recently got super into the n64 about a year ago. I’ve discovered a ton of great games from your channel that are now some of my favorites of all time, let alone on the n64 (Space Station Silicon, Bust a Move 2, MSS Goemon, Mischief Makers, ect.). I feel as if I know almost everything about the console and it’s game library thanks to you. I also noticed there are still a couple games you haven’t fully reviewed yet, one being Hercules. I’d love to see some more content on here :)

Just watched almost every video over the last few weeks. I like the fair and objective method of your reviews. Reopened my eyes to some titles I passed over over the years and now that I've stepped up my collecting these have been useful. While you have your general must have/pass on it conclusions in many of the videos (which in most cases I agree with when it comes to the games I've played), you also provide enough detail that we should be able to figure out if we would like them ourselves anyway. Great videos. Looking forward to your return!
Thanks Brandon, that’s why I never went down the giving scores etc as i often feel it’s better to give my views and let others decide for themselves if it’s something they should check out. Over the years people have got a feel for if they agree or disagree with my opinion which defo helps then make a decision. I’ll probably be back by year end fingers crossed
My favourite racer on the N64 is probably Mario kart 64 followed very closely by F-Zero X, these two always switch around for my number one slot. Beatle Adventure Racing would be my third. F-Zero GX is hands down my favourite GameCube game.
Extreme G is the fastest racing game. Play with the right bikes. Nothing is as fast as this game. Futuristic levels and amazing Weapons. Even the weird fog of the N64 blends into the enviroment. And on top you have a great unique soundtrack. No comparison to Extreme G 2.
Hey Glenn, hope all is well with whatever life has you going through. I have a bad memory, so I'm enjoying watching all your vids again for the first time!
-Is Glenn currently stuck on Majoras Mask? You could do special what are the N64 games you tend to play on winter, spring, summer and autumn. Then we could compare our preferences.
Extreme-G 1-2 had such a unique atmosphere. I thought they were the coolest games as a kid, well still do. The futuristic bikes, the tracks and the backgrounds. All just blended so well together. Also really liked the items. It's rare a game which focuses so much on speed, also has items. Idk which is better, but the first definitely had the best soundtracks imo.
I bought F-Zero on the Snes and loved it from the first go, so when it came out on the N64 it was a must buy game for me. F-Zero is, even to this day, an amazing game! My character was Jody Summer's with the White Cat car if anyone can remember her. SW Ep 1 Racer is also a great game and a favourite of mine. XG2 I prefered to the original. Wipeout didn't get much gametime and so comes in last place for me. Favourite TOP 10 racers: DKR, MK64, WR64, Beetle Adventure Racing, Roadsters, F-Zero X, SW Ep 1 Racer, Hydro Thunder, 1080 Snowboarding, Micro Machines 64..
I would much rather have a fast and smooth experience especially on an insanely fast futuristic racer, so Nintendo made the right choice with the visuals in F-Zero X.
With F-Zero the seemingly minimal graphics of the game were probably tailored to get the highest framerate and sense of speed, it never really bothered me. Oh how I would love to see how it would turn out on current gen!
If you have a PC I highly recommend Redout. It is very much like a modern F-Zero, brilliant through and through, very polished, amazing soundtrack. I think there is also a playstation 4, xbox one and nintendo switch release.
I brought my N64 with Extreme G to school for "show and tell". I convinced my teachers to let me do it because it's science and technology! Everyone was in awe of the graphics and speed! I still think ExtremeG has the best sense of ups and downs and depth of any N64 racing game. Those clouds when you plunge into a ravine still look pretty convincing. While XG2 had some REALLY cool innovations, like breaking the sound barrier and quieting the music, the music, track design, and frame rate ultimately made it a worse game. I had XG2 for PC, and despite running smoothly, I still would rather play the original.
@@n64glennplant Nah, I kept it in the AV room with all the TV's and VCRs, and only rolled it out when the teacher said it was ok. But I did get to play N64 all lunch that day!
Ridge Racer 64 is also pretty fast once you get to the higher engine classes. It's a tough game and didn't sell particularly well at around 300,000 copies worldwide. What sucks is most people who own the game have yet to unlock one of the cars, because it requires two human players on a team finishing first and second against 4 AI opponents, on either of the final two courses.
Hey Glenn, I just wanted to say I really appreciate all of your content and have been going through them over the years to great enjoyment. Like I said, really appreciate your content and am always looking forward to the next video.
Fun fact about pod racer. If you only have 4 upgraded parts (song side your 4 pit Droids) they will never break. So you can use the scrap yard to conduct a bunch of buy and selling to get tones of trugets. My record is over 300000 trugets in a play through. You also don't even need to upgrade any parts to come first in every race.
I don’t know for you but I would play most of these these games through rentals. I would rent them two days straight and somehow manage to prepare myself to complete them in that single we.
I played all these, F Zero X and Star Wars were my personal favs. The others did not have the same sense of speed or overall quality. I never even noticed the lack of graphics in F Zero X as a kid, I was too busy going fast.
One of my favorite N64 racing games was MRC. It had so many cool shortcuts on the tracks. Like driving through a waterfall.. i have fond memories of that game.
@@n64glennplant you’re probably the first person I’ve ever found that even knows of it lol. I just ordered a new copy of it since I lost mine years ago. Hoping it’s as good as I remember from my childhood
Excellent video dude! Yeah the 64 had some of my favorite racing games! Never had FZERO X but I have played it and appreciate it! Extreme G was def my favorite out of the futuristic racers
So nice hearing from people with similar nostalgic memories. I've got too many happy memories with different people... N64 though, it was my best friend Ben. At the time I couldn't appreciate what a class time I had burning the summers away on Mario 64, ocarina and smash bros, laughing my tits off with Ben. He tragically died a few years ago so I suppose those memories are a little extra special. I had similarly great memories with the psone and my dad, he also let me bunk off school to play medal of honour all day with the curtains drawn and volume cranked to the max. He also sadly passed a few years ago; so again, special memories. Moral of the story - appreciate everyone you love whenever you get the chance. Go hang out with them for no reason, and make a few memories; you never know when it'll be for the last time. Sorry for your loss mate, enjoyed the vid, will check out more!
My favourite F-Zero character is Zoda, pretty much in every game he appears in. He has some of the most ridiculous dialogue in GX, being the token supervillain foil to the heroic Arrows. One of my favourite quotes from him is when he's asked what his hobby is outside of racing, to which he responds "I like to grow flowers. Flowers that KILL PEOPLE!" In F-Zero games, I tend to prioritise top-speed, and my track memorisation usually compensates for the lack of control I would have got if I prioritised acceleration, which is why Zoda and his machine, Death Anchor, are perfect for me. The Death Anchor isn't the hardest vehicle to get around corners, but his superior top-speed can make it challenging, which makes Zoda a good high risk/reward character to pick.
Man, I remembered playing Extreme G 2 on a demo N64 in the kids section of a Sears. I could never remember the name of the game, or what it was, until like now, like 20+ years later lmao. Thanks!
This is still my favorite channel on youtube. Even without new content. We miss you Glenn! I stop in pretty regularly just to see if you've commented, in hopes to see you're doing well.
Great video Glen. The day I bought my N64 I got it with Mario 64, 007, Banjo-Kazooie and F Zero X and I remember that it was F Zero X that finally made me pick up the console with all those must play games. F Zero X just blew my mind away, but then again, so did most games during that generation.
F-Zero X is one of my favorite racing games, period. I 100% it not too long ago, got the cutaway title screen and all. I could play that badass game for hours.
Love seeing Extreme-G getting some well deserved recognition. It is a really fun game with a KILLER soundtrack, one of my favorites on the system, and I'm not even that much into electronic music in general lol
The physics in Extreme G2 felt so inconsistent and unfair to me. Like, I would scrape the side of the wall and I would flip out facing the track backwards. Maybe the first game was coded better? Also that F-Zero X commercial is so boss.
I just found your channel and i love it! I found my brothers old n64 and decided to start collecting more games now. I remember when i was really little watching him play all these games, and honestly even though i never fully got to experience it, the console is iconic in gaming and even makes me a little nostalgic. I feel like i almost use game consoles and games as time markers in my life now XD
Off topic, but have you considered doing a "making of/behind the scenes" video of your video-making process? Showing us where you play, on what kind of TV, how you transfer, your writing/recording process, etc. Im a huge fan of the channel and would be super interested to see how you work! All the best and keep up the amazing work.
The best trick I found to upgrade on the quick for Star Wars Racer was to put your money into pit droids early on and then buy high tier, heavily damaged parts from the scrapyard. Before you know it, those parts are back in working order and you just got a monster part for dirt cheap.
I was always a fan of Bio Rex for the look of the craft, but Blood Falcon for time trial. Crank that accelaration down to the left and drift boost round corners was a wonderful hidden mechanic that opened up the game a lot and made it even faster and more exciting.
I actually enjoyed San Francisco Rush. The music and sound effects were perhaps not the best but it was a lot of fun dinging with the other cars around all the city circuits and you could find hidden shortcuts and secret locations as well as drive through windows, knock down parking meters and get really airborne. The circuits were also not too windy so you could really floor it and clock up some serious speed. All in all, it was a great little game.
Thanks for the great content Glenn! I hope you're feeling better. Just know that we are always here to support you :) Have you ever thought about doing a video ranking every N64 game when you return (though that would be a lot to take on)?
The first Wipeout also came out on Sega Saturn and was a really good port. It's interesting that everyone remembers it as a Playstation exclusive but, at least the first one, came out on all next gen systems at the time. (N64's I think being different than PSX and SS though)
As you have already reviewed a lot of games individually, I am now starting to look for videos like this.... i still would like you to release a hardware pusher video... many of your reviews are great...
Awesome channel. I just subscribed. I know you do mostly N64 games but honestly I would be down to see videos from other consoles too. Please make more videos 🤩
XG3 is to Extreme G1 what XGRA is to XG2. The 1st and 3rd games have a different way of working compared to the 2 and 4. I prefer the sensation of speed of 1 and 3 by far. I should investigate more but I think the major difference is that the camera on the 1st and 3rd is absolutely rigid on an axial position behind the moto, but on the 2 and 4 this camera is flexible and independent. This flexible movements of the camera breaks the effect of speed, because it feels like we are in a dron following the moto, while in 1st and 3rd we are attached on an axis behind to the moto.
As someone who was fairly young back when F-Zero X came out, I rarely read gaming magazines, so I'm surprised to hear people disliked the game's visuals. I really like it.
Hey Glenn, I've really been missing your content, man. I'd love to see you maybe revisit some of the reviews you did early on or visit another Nintendo console.
Extreme-G by far. I love everything about the first game^^ I prefer the first to the second. It is faster, has a much better soundtrack and the racing is better because of the fewer combat options. Less is more^^
Pod racer was awesome. Extreme G I liked a loved the graphics and speed but felt a massive disconnect between the awesome fast bikes and the repeat sharp corner out of no where tracks.

Love seeing Extreme-G getting some well deserved recognition. It is a really fun game with a KILLER soundtrack, one of my favorites on the system, and I'm not even that much into electronic music in general lol
Extreme g is a futuristic sci fi racer i still play to this day, it was also the 2nd game I reviewed on my channel!
Welcome! It’s been a while since I’ve been uploading to this channel but I aim to return some point next year
@@n64glennplant i look forward to it!
YESSSSSS THANK YOU!!!! Bro I’ve been trying to figure out what game it was, wipeout 64 was soooo sick, music was even better
Love your videos, sir. Thank you for all you shared. Wishing you luck and happiness in this grim year!
Thanks Ivy 🙏🏼
F zero x is my favorite racer next to Wave-race 64 and if couese my favorite character is captain falcon.
Uh mazin!
I think you mean Mario Kart 64 is your favorite.
Extreme G was my jam
If you turn the weapons off, it was just a fantastic racer with an awesome soundtrack.
The best trick I found to upgrade on the quick for Star Wars Racer was to put your money into pit droids early on and then buy high tier, heavily damaged parts from the scrapyard. Before you know it, those parts are back in working order and you just got a monster part for dirt cheap.
I do remember there being a few magazines back in the day that suggested that too 👍
I was always a fan of Bio Rex for the look of the craft, but Blood Falcon for time trial.
Man POD racer and Fzero were my 2 favourite racing games on the N64, I cannot wait to one day buy another console. Great video
Thanks, I’ll maybe be back in a few months
Where are you man?!?!?!?!
Will be back in a while 👍
Awesome channel. I just subscribed. I know you do mostly N64 games but honestly I would be down to see videos from other consoles too. Please make more videos 🤩
Welcome 🙏🏼 may be back this year at some point
fzero64 is one of the best looking games ive ever played, what do people complain about?!
Ridge Racer 64 in the later speed classes with a car like the Ultra 64 is insane.
I hope Glenn gives us his opinion on Multi Racing Championship soon.
As someone who was fairly young back when F-Zero X came out, I rarely read gaming magazines, so I'm surprised to hear people disliked the game's visuals. I really like it.
Thank you sir for providing gameplay from real hardware so we can compare it to emulators for accuracy's sake.
Thank you for caring as much as I do
Hey Glenn, I've really been missing your content, man. I'd love to see you maybe revisit some of the reviews you did early on or visit another Nintendo console.
I’ll aim to be back some point this year I expect 🤘
Extreme G needs a reboot!
Wild Boar was always my go-to machine in f zero x
Hope we get some n64 nostalgia for Christmas :)
:( 8 months no new videos
Maybe sometime later this year
We need you back Glen we have missed you!! Plus i need my child support
Haha thanks, maybe sooner rather than later but nothing in the can right now
Star wars was the only one of these games I've played so far hope to try out the others at some time👍
miss you!
Aight, like Bruce Wayne in dark knight your gonna have to come back haha. Should try to do playthroughs, that would be dope but time consuming.
F-Zero X is my favorite! Me and my brothers would spend hours playing that thing! Great memories!
N64 had tons of amazing racing games, that's for sure
Hello I’m a huge fan and I love the channel but I was wondering if you are going too upload soon I would love too see more games
Yeah I plan to again just taking a break for now
Extreme-G 1 and the Second game
I love those games
I forgot how much I loved these games! Thanks for the reviews, Glenn 😊
And thanks for watching 👍
I've prefered extreme G 1 compared to XG2 because the music was to me superior and as you said the track design and overall gameplay was more fluid.
the music in G1 was exciting, but it G2's music helped me focus better when i was practicing. not like it mattered though because i still cant beat G2
Extreme-G by far. I love everything about the first game^^ I prefer the first to the second. It is faster, has a much better soundtrack and the racing is better because of the fewer combat options. Less is more^^
Pod racer was awesome. Extreme G I liked a loved the graphics and speed but felt a massive disconnect between the awesome fast bikes and the repeat sharp corner out of no where tracks.
did you prefer extreme g 1 or 2 on n64?
My favourite N64 racing game is Mario Kart 64 and F-Zero X. No question about it. I'm actually playing F-Zero X right now.
Who’s your character?
@@n64glennplant Mighty Gazelle in F-Zero. Love his character design. In Mario Kart it's usually Mario or Luigi. Do you have a character you typically use?
Pico is my usual go to
One thing I do in F-Zero X is go into training mode and make my own death race
