The way that Mark surfed through the peloton and then sprint like a beast was the cherry on top for his win, Congrats Mark !
I think I watched it like 20 times, over and over… It was a sprinting master class. I was so happy today I cried. I was always cheering for him, but after watching his Netflix doc, he became my second favorite of all times. Marco Pantani was first. And on Sunday I’ve had the luck and honor to be in Pantani’s hometown, watching whole peloton parading in front of Marco’s museum and around town. It was so emotional. And I took pic of Mark’s Wilier up close, and kept my fingers crossed that to be THE bike. And it was.
@@samozafejsbuk5527 I am on the same boat, after watching the Netflix Doc I became a big fan, cant wait to see what else happens on the tour, plenty of stages left !
His maneuvering was beautiful 👌🏼
@@samozafejsbuk5527 Probably watched 50 times today.
A clinic in bike handling and nerves of a fighter pilot, GOAT
Vinokourov needs a shout out! He gave CAV the opportunity two years in a row! I know the team got press because of it, but he gave CAV the opportunity when no one else did.
Great marketing, this stage win and maybe a couple more on this tour will be shown forever and a day with an Astana jersey. If I said to you ‘A Holsten Jersey’ you would say Merckx, in years to come they say Cavendish when you say Astana.
@@me-xj7etI'm booking my trip to Kazakhstan now.
Today Cav transcended sport. What a story. What a fighter. What a man. Glad I am alive to have watched all 35 wins over the years. Chapeau Mark.
Sir Mark Cavendish took the 35th like a boss, showing a clean set of wheels to the best in the world on the sports biggest stage! What a legend!
Haha, I was messaging my dad after the race - "SIR Mark Cavendish just won 35!.."
@@TheArimatheus i would send my dad that same message. I wish I still could. Bravo to you and your dad who share love of the sport.
The fight for this stage took 3 years of hustling for a team, trying and trying again, crashing, bad luck, fighting to make the cut time in multiple mountain stages. Thirty nine years old, most of us wanted him to win, most of us deep down doubted he could do it. I was on my feet shouting at the TV with thousands of others I am sure. What an inspiring emotional day!Well done Cav!
Couldn’t be happier. Cav didn’t need stage win 35 to be a legend, he cemented that long ago. Now he is a legend who just happens to have 35 stage wins. #manxgoat

Comment I was looking for!
yet you watched all of it....WTF
Public service at its best!
What an amazing day! It feels like a lifetime ago I watched Cav racing with George. It’s a testament to his athleticism and grit that he’s still beating the best in the world at 39 years old.
That’s Sir Mark Fucking Cavendish👊
The dude definitely earned that one.
Awesome.
I’ve watched all of Mark’s 34 wins, the 35th made my eyes watery. An embodiment of resilience and determination. Thanks Mark for making us witness this historic event in our lifetime!
Remarkable how he wove through the peloton at those speeds. That's Sir Cav. Fantastic.
People who don't understand cycling just don't understand how much can go wrong in those final 500 metres at 70 km/hr (most people have never seen 70km/hr on a bicycle ... it gets pretty scary). This isn't like being the best climber in the world, where your "finishing straight" lasts for 30 minutes up a mountain, this all takes place in 20 seconds, your entire day comes down to 20 seconds. To win 35 sprints is sort of statistically impossible when you think about all the variables. To me this means that Cav's brain is on another level, not just his physical attributes. His instinct, in split-second moments, is incredible. What a legend. Other "Greats" like Kittel and Greipel have come and gone, but Cav remains.
It was amazing! I didn't think he would get it. The team got split up a little. To go from a few wheels back and to get yourself the right position to get a clear line for the sprint is extremely difficult. He did great!
great comment!
Cav is a true legend .
Never give up.
Believe it.
CAV!!!!!! What a way to grind himself through that traffic and get 'er done. VERY happy for him.
Cavendish absolutely made history and we’ll never forget! 7X TDF Champion is history and trust we’ll never forget that either. GOAT goes to both of ya’ll. Deuces! Ya’ll killing it out there with this show. Come on now! Let’s go!
I've been watching Cav race since the Lance days. So happy Cav finally got this!
What an emotional finish! With all that he’s been through over the years, No35 was so well deserved. It’s a brave man that bets against another on this Tour.
He and the team will be so fired up. Go Cav - make it 36 or more 💪🏼
Fckn extatic for Cav. What a legend! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a way to take the record, probably his best sprint win in years, surfing wheels, all the sprinters present and when he went there was no doubt about the result… and if the line had been another 25 metres away he’d have still won because no one was close. Bravo Cav ❤
A French guy in his last Tour wins the first stage... Vino keeps up with Pogacar despite being off for a month... Now Cav breaks the record... seems more a WWF story line than a TdF...
Hahaha!
All a big stage
Hulk hogan was missing in the mountains
Astana qazaqstan team 👌 it was like watching mark from 2009 all over again this dude will be pushing for 36 + the yellow jersey of sprinters 🐐
i have been refreshing youtube for the last couple of hours, waiting for this!!
I've never seen so many riders congratulating a stage winner!
Two GOATS in my book- Lance and Sir Mark!
Lance is no Goat wipe that shite from your eyes
What a story. Highs, lows, doubters and doubts. Glorious wins in monuments, 1 day and stage races.
Fun starts at 6:01
👍👍
Appreciate it.. Thanks

@@scotthouser9064 Thank you
Thanks so much
For those who don't know. Honey Stinger chews don't freeze. At altitude and below freezing temperatures. They don't turn into a rock. Used them on Kilimanjaro.
And by the way, Tadej Pogacar was 10 years old when Mark Cavendish raced his first Tour De France
That's an amazing stat
35 ! Cheers Cav!
always nice to watch history rewritten and written! amazing finish, way to go Sir Cavendish!
Busted the chain too. Insane
That was just because he went from 1200w pedaling at 110 rpm to suddenly stopping pedaling as he crossed the line. The chain kept moving and hopped off the big ring. It’s happened several times before with Cav. He just stops pedaling completely
Had not seen that good eye
Watching racers dropping like flies, Cavendish bobbing and weaving, and bang wins #35. What a final sprint. Congrats Mark !
Such a huge achievement. I always hoped but I never believed that he could beat Eddy's record...but Mark did! Just an amazing day for cycling. Chapeau Mark.
Great to see Cavendish get the record and to see home so happy. So many cycling fans have enjoyed watching him over his career and are thrilled to see him achieve this record.
The Cav Netflix show is really good. He was in such a dark space. Makes today even better!!
casually receiving a phone call from Sir Mark Cavendish in the middle of the show is a FLEX no other podcast can deliver! Love you guys!
It was beautiful and breathtaking. I screamed at the top of my lungs, and I'm a brother who doesn't even own a bike, lol. I'm so happy for him.
🔥 Tour de CAVVVVV!!!! 🔥 ... and he crossed the finish line WITH a broken chain!!! ... Congratz!!!
Not sure it was broken. But his high rev high torque sprint finishes and the momentum in the chain and a slight back pedal movement often ends up in his chain coming off at the end of the sprint. It was analysed a few years ago
Amazing Cav, it wasn't even close!
This is exactly what makes the TDF, and pro sport generally, great. Cav seemed like a long shot to many on paper to get the record, but the winner on paper is not always the winner on the road, track, field or court. The unlikely does happen. Cav got his chance and did what he has always done, intelligent and savvy though he is: charge ahead like a man possessed. Congrats to him.
They covered everything I was thinking, so there's really nothing left to say except. I just couldn't be happier for Mark. His name will be around for a long time.
Thought it was footage from some other year, SO happy for Sir Cav!!
Cavendish's team did an amazing job getting him there...what a win!
WAY TO GO CAV!!!!
Amazing for Cav!
COME ON Lance!!! Where is the BOOM STICK?!?!?!
This is one of your best podcasts, celebrating one of the best moments in cycling! Thanks for this content!
Love it so happy to see Cavendish break the record
Mark’s 35th was amazing. But in the context of his entire professional cycling career, 35 was the most inspiring accomplishment by anyone in any professional career. People need to understanding the last 10 years of Mark’s life to truly appreciate what he has done. I hope people take the time learn about him. If they do, 35 will teach them something very special.
Never been more elated: Cav is such an amazing, down to Earth fella 🍻 hats off, mate! You're a class act - much love from #AVL #WNC 💚🍻💚 Thanks to #WEDÜ Team for amazing content, love you ALL.
I want to extend my thanks to His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of Kazakhstan, for having faith in Sir Mark and investing in him through the cycling team 🇰🇿
When I was a kid around 10 I did a 10 mile time trial in Charlotte where I grew up. Eddie Mercx was there and rolled up with me about half the way to the finish! I also many years later did a ride with Lance both of them being my hero’s. Now I wish I could ride with Mark and life with my hero’s would be complete. Chapo Mark!! And thank you George, JB and Lance for bringing The Move to us here in San Antonio where I live now. What a win today!!
I get to eat crow. I said father time was against Cav. BOY was I wrong and thank God I was. The greatest sprinter of all time
Lol wipe that egg off Lance's face while eating that crow😂😂jk
💉💉💉💉
@@Vlad88822 Yes, we all know Armstrong was a terrible doper and a terrible person.
Yes, we all know that almost all cyclists doped at that time. What ever said and done Lance Armstrong was the best and greatest cyclist ever. He's a true legend. 👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️
@@tonyvanderstraaten1040 No. LA was the greatest TdF racer. not just his strength but also his bike handling to avoid crashes. He didn't do enough other races to warrant GOAT of all cyclists.
🇮🇲 well done, Sir Mark Cavendish. The Manx Missile from the Isle of Man.
Sir Mark Cavendish! The man! 35 Tour de France stage wins across 15 tours spanning 17 years! History folks! Lance can definitely appreciate thus, being a 22 time TDF stage winner himself. 🏆
Go Cav!
In the NBA or any stick and ball sport perhaps, Mark Cavendish would be known and feared as a "Big Game Player."
Great vid guys , Cav made my day unforgettable. Fellow brit in France. Keep up the great work 😬
He made my day !
When are we going to get Ben Stiller on the podcast?? He's a big Mark Cavendish fan, and cycling fan in general, according to his social media. Know him and Lance were both in the all-time classic movie Dodgeball together, so looking for Lance to call in some favors.
Mark ❤❤❤.i dident see this comming really❤❤❤. amasing 🥰
Another great one, many thanks
This is like the first landing of man on the moon. I'm just so ellated about this historic event in sport.
It is already the best tour in history
Love this show!!! Thanks!
Hey guys and girls. U are all #1 in this show. Thx for making it for us abroad. Cheers from Denmark.
So F...... epic to see him take that 35 win! Great team, that is build up around him, with Michael Mørkev in, as a lead out leader, with all he´s experience in the peloton. Michael also had a huge role in the more nerdy stuff, regarding the bikes. He has a brother who has a cyckling team, and knows EVERYTHING about bikes, and had used him to "get up to speed", with the newest and the best gear for the cause. He F...... did it. We are of course very concerned for Mads P. I hope he race tomorrow? Get well. Cheers from Denmark
It was a An 'Awesome' Stage 5, So Glad I home from Work to see 'History' being made ,"Congratulations 🎉 "Mark Cavandish "35th Stage Today , Yes His the "GOAT" Cycling History Today!!!
How cool is that "small teams" are the ones winning so far... (apart from the UAE)!?!?!?
Agreed
I was so happy when I heard he won (couldn't watch live), I was expecting this because I belived he will win his 35th stage. Congratulations to him, Astana team and Vinokurov for believing in him 👏👏👏👏. This is the best stage from this year's TDF.
I'll never be a Vino fan, but all the respect for hiring Mark and believing in him. Thank you, Vinokourov.
What a fantastic tour so far!
Yesssss!!’ So happy for him🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
I hope Mark can survive, and maybe win another, rather than pull a Cipolino. Not that I'd blame ANY sprinter for getting his win(s)... and what a TREAT to hear from Mrs. Cav.
Armstrong obviously is a certain type of character, but George is a special guy. He’s not a pushy guy. He’s a laid back guy, but when cav’s wife and son contacted George that shows you how much George is respected within the cycling community, and of course, especially with the British🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸
Still waiting to hear about that Richard Mille George is wearing….
ASO should give Cav his own jersey.
Georgie with absolute zingers today!
Wow. This was special. The show has been fabulous so far. Then the Cavendish family calls in?! Wow.
MC does it, how killer is that.. epic
and a award goes to old mate who bunny hopped the rider who crashed at the end of the sprint, mad skills
Incredible..truly
Awesome. Legendary
Mark executed his move precisely! Congratulations to him and his epic accomplishment!
Great win for Cav no doubt. Did anybody else see the crash behind him inside 100m and the remarkable bike handling to miss the fallen rider!?!
Lance he s 39 not 35 ….. unbelievable to keep going after the many injury s he has sustained , months n months recovering , think he s broke just his collar bone 7 times !! Chapeau to him
A big shout out to Cav's team and sponsors!!!
Talk about the comeback of the century. Kudos to George he always said Cav had more in him after his low period.
Congratulations to Mark Cavendish! Absolute legend! And kudos to his team, and family for all the support. History made.
Congrats Cav! What an incredible victory for him!
Awsome Job Cav!!! You had lady luck on your side as your chain was off the crank just before your crossed the line and turned off the gas. Look at the NBC slow motion. WOW! Get on those mechanics.
That happens pretty much every time he sprints hard. The torque and revs then sudden stop with a bit of a back pedal. It's been analysed quite deeply and happens on different bikes and group sets
I wouldn't mind having a beer with you, Lance :) Congrats to Cav, amazing feat to watch!!
🎉great show 👏
I got into cycling because of Lance in my early 20's I remember watching Cav dominate back then. We are the same age. Incredible what he as accomplished. How many times he had been counted out, including the story George mentioned that I didn't know about. It's crazy. After he came back a few years ago and won several stages and tied the record. I have never counted him out after that. Mark is something special and so was today's performance. He was getting boxed out, by all accounts he shouldn't have won. Somehow he pulled it off. Incredible
Kudos guys for your long term support of Cav.
A Legend!
No mention of the bunny hop? ha ha. Congrats CAV!
Yeah that was crazy. He looked back at what I believe was his teammate like, "did you see that?!" 😂
Well shucks- gotta say- looking forward to every stage , and…. then the Move, July is my favorite month of the year. Appreciate the rhetoric and no better insight boys. 💯💯💯🙏🙏 - Happy fourth 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Historical…. I watched the race with my Daycare kids and they all was screaming He won He Won He did it 😅😅 Awesome
35 and counting.💪💪💪💪
Bravo Sir Mark Cavendish
Cavendish a legend.. can make a movie out of it❤
CAV CAV CAV CAVENDISH!!! Alleluja ! I knew he could do it !!!
