The Cube lightning and aeros are Sam price full spect canyon bikes but this is the Standard price. At least in Germany. I am very happy with my cross race c62 pro. But I suspect they don't pay GCN enough to be mentioned.

I just bought a new Factor Ostro VAM (not in IPT colours) which felt like a huge purchase for me, but seems like a bargain compared to some of those Oli and Manon mentioned. The costs of the Bolide make a strong argument for time trials being ridden on regular road bikes.
I was sponsored in 2007 and had the exact same TT bike BMC was using in the TDF time trials and it was insane. Zipp wheels, Zipp handlebars, Zipp crank, Powertap rear hub... we estimated it was worth about $8,500 back then. So maybe $12,000 now? But that Pinarello is insane. Are they all dentists?
How many times: They. don't. have. to. pay. for. them. ! All the bikes are supplied to the teams as part of a contract that highlights the bikes in front of potential customers in race coverage. Sometimes it's at net no cost, other times (dependant on the team's standings/UCI points aggregation/national champs jerseys/etc etc.) it's at a total package cost, budgeted for in the team's yearly expenses, which bears no relation to the RRP that even the best looked-after retail customer has to pay.
I have a genuine 1973 tour de france bike (lejeune) running original campagnolo components. It still rides great and the frame will last for decades in not a century. These modern tour bikes have frames and components that literally will not be rideable in decades to come. Because one : digital shifting componentry will be superseded and hard to get parts for, and two : the carbon frames are only good for ten years!! So much for cycling being a sustainable sport !!
I remember seeing and drooling over an Olmo frame and fork set in a Schwinn shop waaay back in 1986 that was partial carbon fiber for what was an astronomical price of $800. Keeping in mind, my little Schwinn Tempo cost $360 complete 😂

can we talk about how many of the pros in the tdf are stopping and changing their bikes for seemingly small technical issues? I'm surprised how many seem to want to swap bikes, thinking the visma team on their yellow bikes instead of the special blue ones they always start the stage with.

Question about the bike costs in the peloton. How much of the bikes and componentry is given (as part of sponsorship) and how much are the teams paying for it? Some of that bespoke componentry can't all be gifted.
Notice you guys didn't add the Trek Madone SLR in there. And you should have put TT bikes in another category because they a usually more expensive that an average bike anyway.
I feel like we need a bike tier list video to sort out this debacle. S-Tier are all the baller max spec S-Works' and Colnagos' then Specilized Comps and Trek Madone Comp spec in the A tier and so forth down. Anything over C is raceable at amateur level essentially. - Thoughts?

Check out tbe Merida Scultura team-e for £8000 that you never talk about. I have been riding this fantastic bike for two years and its a little rocket. Always talking up mainstream stuff. Remember merida are the biggest bike manufacturer and own specialized.
I know we dont really do e bikes on gcn tech (leave that to the mb guys) - but I had a thought the other day - has anyone come up with an integrated ebike where you can upload your gpx file (say your commute to work - and you flag it as a commute so it knows it needs to do the return journey) and then it intelligently applies power based on the route to be as effective as possible and last the whole journey (not relying on the user to turn down power and turn it up)?
Given how long riders are out on the road in the sun, the 'batman' nose has a very distinct benefit of reducing the chances of skin cancer later in life. I realise that poms have no idea what the sun is, but as an Australian (and also let's remember Jayco Alula are essentially an Oz team) we're VERY aware of skin cancer and sun damage. They may (in fact do) look like nerdy speccy four-eye tat, but the long term benefit should in no way be under-estimated. Melanomas are just fucking nasty!

If you swapped the Bolide F for the Bolide F HR, the price gets stupider.
