  • After being gone for 5 days, I take you along as I find out if my giant pumpkin plants survived my absense. I was definitely nervous as the 1643 New and 1931 Turner plants were just planted in cold, wet soil right before I left.

They faired well without any attention. Good luck getting that wet patch in shape.

In case that wet patch is too much of a challenge, I just put a backup plant in the old pasture at my parent’s farm. You will probably see that in my next video. That won’t get a soil test, amendments or really much attention.

I’m joining you on this journey out of sheer curiosity. I’m not a giant pumpkin grower, but I’m totally intrigued by the process. Did I hear you correctly, in an earlier video, that you’re in WI?

This rainy weather must not be helping to dry that patch.

Not helping at all. I will probably remove more water after this next round of rain. I would really like to get more of the patch amended before I have to worry about where the plants’ roots are.
