    I love pumpkins. They were the first plant that showed me I could garden. (Notorious black thumb) I opened a pumpkin to process and it was sprouting, so I planted them and they grew! Gave me the confidence to build a garden this year, so pumpkins have a special place in my heart. Thank you for all the new information!

    I always make homemade pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and this year my number one garden goal is to grow my own pie pumpkins! This year I finally have the space to grow them myself, and I saved some seeds from the pumpkins I used last year. They're doing good so far so I hope they continue to thrive! Thanks for these great tips!

    I’ve ordered about 25 different varieties of pumpkin and gourds for this year… I have a question, as I usually used to buy started plants… some of the pumpkin seeds I ordered have like a green coating on them, most do not. What is that all about? I haven’t seen it on any other kinds of vegetable or melon seed I got

    Good information, but could have used fertilization methods. Are they heavy feeders? Use higher amounts of potassium, etc. Those plants are so green and healthy looking! My first time growing pumpkins and I’m just guessing. Thanks, from Georgia.

    • @SanDiegoSeedCompany
      @SanDiegoSeedCompany  2 года назад

      If you have good soil you might be fine since it's the first year growing there. They are heavy feeders, though, and you want to fertilize regularly. What nutrients you emphasize depends on the stage of the plant too.

    I grow Connecticut Field pumpkins every year to give away to the neighborhood kids for carving. They are very productive and uniform and make perfect Jack O Lanterns. I also usually try to grow at least one large pumpkin variety (usually Big Max) but this year I am trying a variety called Atlantic Giant which supposedly can produce pumpkins up to 150 lbs. My biggest pumpkin so far is 52 lbs. and my goal is to break 70 lbs. this year. Lots of good tips in this video, especially about manual pollination. Thanks for the great content!

    Hello, I put up my first ever cattle panel this spring and planted a zucchini on one side and a small watermelon on the other. So far so good. I am alittle worried about this summer heat this year though. Today I added some shade cloth but I put it right on the panel and I'm wondering how the plant will go up the panel if it can't grip it. We shall see. I would love to try pumpkins next spring. Great tips, Thank you!

    This is an URGENT request for help /advice....
    I have bred and developed a brand of pumpkin, that I don't believe has ever been catagorized before.
    Example :- maximum spread is approximately 1 Meter square,
    Maximum yield 12 to 15 x 1kg pumpkins per plant.
    Skin orange (fairly soft)
    Flesh orange
    300 + seeds per pumpkin.
    I have searched the Internet for a similar variety, but as yet, have been unable to find anything similar.
    I would appreciate advise as to weather or not, I have bred something "unique"?
