This is a video that I know most people will benefit from I know that I just did , been weighting for a video like this one to explain this procedure and you did it well Ernest . Thanks buddy .
Looking at your post which is one year old , have you done this tune process and how was your result ? I have my MKII on the way and want to know everything about this PCP to get the best accuracy with a given slug , I will be purchasing the slug power kit to get a little extra velocity !
@@JackAgainski I added the Huma transfer port & the FX slug probe since my purchase with a power setting at 115 bar ! I plan on testing a 31 grain .218 NSA slug to shoot @ 940 FPS in the future .

I love FX so much but can’t own it’s.. but still in love it’s..here in Thailand so expensive...I will follow ur channel keep doing uploads more about FX.. thank you sir.. fan of Fx..
Thank you for doing this video is Ernest. It means a lot to a lot of us. Speaking for myself I personally love my impact and never regretted my purchase, I’m just glad that with FX his help and your master classes I’ll definitely get the most out of my impact. Thanks again.
Ernest, this is very nice tutorial clip! Thanbk you very much, this will help a lot to everybody... I hope we can see soon guid lines for every size of pellets and slugs... Greatly appreciate you Masterclasses.
I've watched your entire series, I think it's fantastic. Please do a video on rebuilding the FX Dreamline. I will use that video to make a decision on whether I buy one or not. Thank you very much.
You are a good teacher for this . It appears to be you have done this more than once . Nice job . Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience .
Thank you Ernie great video. I will buy a Daystate Red Wolf HP definitely. I do not want get crazy and frustrated like most of the FX Impact owners. If Daystate Team wins most of the competitions there must be a reason. However, thanks for the video it was very helpful.
I am about to buy my first FX Impact MKII and am watching everything I can find on tuning. I would greatly appreciate it if you would make a more basic video than this one. Maybe explain why you are doing what you are doing, how the reg pressure interacts with the hammer adjustment wheel, why you do them in the order you did, etc. Why did you start at 920 and then drop down? Where did you come up with those numbers and why? Basic stuff that you guy take for granted, still needs explaining for those of us who are still learning. Thank you.
This instructional video is outstanding! I learned more from this single video than from all other sources combined. very well done! thank you Ernest!!
Thanks Ernest, that's awesome. That's really scientific with all those instruments to calibrate it. I remember when I was in the Philippines I just tried to approximate the spring tension of the air rifle hammer vs the CO2 tank air pressure, and it was a long process of trial and error, and patience. The FX M3 is really amazing, one of the best air rifle so far when it comes to fine tuning and accuracy. Have a great day Ernest and God bless!
Thanks Ernie! So much relevant and good info, been struggling to fine tune my slug liner in .22 but this was certainly most satisfying to watch and very educational. Sure I should get my Imact shooting slugs like a beast at no time! Regards from South Africa!!! FYI All other comments/watchers ( if i might call it that ), same goes for crown, dreamline etc...
Thank you! Seeing it done is the best way to learn it and although I do not have the Impact I think most of what I saw will help me with my first generation Crown. It would be nice to see this done with the Crown!
This is an eye-opener for a lot of People. I would be very happy if Mr Rowe could make the same video for the FX Dreamline. It would be very nice to know if you can fine tune the transfer port. The wheel on the dreamline only has three fixed settings.
Damn Ernest you are the Master I have the .30cal Crown and I really wish we had the same info for the Crown as you just did for the impact, Thanks Randy
Just ordered my impact a few days ago and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. I’ve been a little intimidated by the tuning process but now I think I’ll have a handle on it! Really looking forward to emptying a few tins when I get it in! Thanks for this video!
Thanks for the video. I thought I knew where you were going with the tune - keep valve and hammer spring maxed and increase reg pressure until 920 fps was achieved and then back off the hammer spring to the ~900 fps range. I was wrong. Instead of backing off the hammer spring, you closed the valve a bit to drop fps to 900 range. I'm wondering why? Seemed to me that a bit lower hammer spring setting would have been better for the rifle. So why the valve adjustment instead?
Thank you! Plz make the same video for 25cal shooting jsb mk2’s 34 grain 700mm barrel! What feet per second do you recommend for efficiency and acuracy! Thank you
Stay below 59.6 fpe for best accuracy AND power combination then tune down, not up, to find the barrels harmonic resonance, which will be between 5 to 6 times the pellet speed at the muzzle, which pellet speed will be less than 78% the speed of sound at 26 degree Celsius. Regulator pressure will be around 145 Bar +/- 5 Bar, maybe a bit more. set your hammer spring preload tension half-way between full and minimum, as well as your valve spring. You will get the best equilibrium once you adjust your regulator pressure to get a hair below 59.6 fpe, now the fun part is to tune down, but not up to find your barrel's harmonic resonance and tune to exactly 5-1/5 of your pellet's velocity at the muzzle. All barrels, even from same lot manufactures one before the other will have different harmonic resonances, although close, but not exact. Besides a chronograph, a set of piezo sensors along the barrel and a digital storage oscilloscope, you can find the eluding resonant frequency, but once you remove the sensors, the resonant frequency will change by I don't know exactly how much, but you can deduce it by shooting groups above and below the tuned down velocity. Your the trainer and all athletes as well as guns are not the same, but this is why we shoot. Enjoy the sport. Stay safe and God speed.
I would like to know this as well. What is fpe? Is that metric? I am chrono at 960 FPS with 25 grain jsbs, 700 mm mkii pp. I am getting sub moa. I assume from where I am I just start working 10 shot groups for each setting on the power wheel, then look for the tightest group, but I don’t really understand the interaction and adjustment of the the two for optimization. I understand harmonic tuning for my center fire precision guns, but I am missing something on these air guns.
Thank you for this video Ernest ! Could you please do a video like this for JSB MKII and the .25 cal Crown? Or maybe with the slug liner? After watching and doing what you said I have my crown tuned in nicely. Thanks again. I would still watch if you did a crown video.
Hi there Earnest, I was wondering if you do tuning for a fee? I have a fx impact mk2 .25cal and would like to get it tune. Here on Minnesota I just couldn't find anyone who can tune air rifle especially fx air rifle. Please let me know if you are doing this 🙏. My name is Jack Xiong.
Thanks Ernest and FX! Anyone else find the coincidence of the hammerspring adjustment measurement of 18.1 mm for 18.1 grain pellets interesting? I’m sure that none of the other caliber adjustments would line up so OCD! Thanks again.
Hi Earnest, I just got my FX Impact MKII in .22 cal with the new "Power Plenum" regulator. My question is - Do the regulator adjustments you show in this video work the same or are they adjusted differently?
I don't have a meetured device to measure speed yet and I didn't get see the part where you have to have one to make adjustments... Now I know that it's better to NOT at all dry fire the Impact and which the book says its ok on minimum power obviously the book is without your instructions... (that was from other videos ) thnx again Earnest, I am certain that other's made the same mistakes... it is what it is. but thank you.
Absolutely brilliant. So clear and easy to understand and do ourselves. I have couple questions. In uk we have to stick to sub 12ft/lbs. Would you say this is still worth doing for us? I know my given pellet weight so could easily find the fps I want to achieve. Also on my impact m3 I set the micro adjuster but after about 50 pellets it’s moved in and I have to reset it. Is this normal? Should I put a drop of locktight blue on it to hold it?
The FX's ammunition system is very good, due to this in the rear part of the carbine, even with a 700mm barrel, the carbine is compact and does not lose precision.
This guy has got to be the most chilled and laid back instructor ever. Appreciate the video. Very informative.
