@Ronan K If history has shown anything secretarian violence is far worse than difference of religion. Many many religions have semi-peacefully co-existed in history. Religious schisms on the other hand have literally partitioned nations in the _attempt_ to reduce the violence caused.
I still remember the time during my Otomo campaign when I was besieged by 3 full Ikko stacks. My small number of matchlocks truly pulled their weight when they chased off the 3 armies
My Japanese friend has a family crest. When I visited his house, I saw his family crest and said that "Your family crest is similar to Ikko Ikki crest!" then he said "Yes. Osaka, especially has called izumi province is one of the sanctuaries of Ikko Ikki" That is why when you lost Osaka, Izumi was selected as next stronghold of Ikko Ikki (guessing)
Was it because of cheap fucking units that would not stand a chance against an experienced and well armed army Or was it because you dont like communism Or was it because everyone will attack ikko ikki because they are if different religion Or was it because you cant put metsukes in your most wealthy towns so they can grow bigger Or was it because the trade sites and gold mines are light year away from your position or were you just tired ???
The best part about playing the Uesegi is that everyone loves you for killing the Ikko Ikki. The worst part is having to deal with the Ikko Ikki (on top of the Takeda and Hojo).
@@jv8462 It won't work with this mod list, but in Vanilla Shogun 2 you can get a military alliance with Takeda on the first turn you meet them as Uesegi. Then, with some shrew diplomacy and military access, you can get them to join wars even against the Hojo
@@nocturnaljoe9543 even your basic temple has conversion of neighboring provinces. If one of their provinces is has 2 orc3 of yours bordering it itll start converting real fast.
I recently finished a tall Ikki campaign. Being a pacifist and only capturing the immediate areas around Kioto and getting those sweet trade deals. After a few turns I realized that I was infact playing an Otomo campaign but without gunpowder. And I took that personally...Good times
@@robertharris6092 I have no idea what war you're talking about but regardless in Total War: Shogun 2 it's an undisputed fact of the universe that only squares rely on gunpowder units while playing Ikko Ikki. Kings and Generals recently had a video on the Sohei, including the Ikko Ikki rebellion against the samurai; it was a good video, goes well with this one.
I love how every other clan video it's about their amazing units and how destructive they are whilst the Ikko is just desperately trying to not be purged by every other angry Japanese person in the country
Well. They do have the strongest gun unit. the strongest bow unit. the strongest spear unit. And the strongest (for cost effectiveness) sword unit. And the strongest cavalry unit.
Goddamn the campaign was hellish, and I thought the Otomo was the most hated clan in Shogun 2 by other clans, and then Ikko Ikki came and said "hold my sake"...
First time as the Ikko Ikki, Otomo became my enemies, the fuckers missionaries are my nightmares. They owned half the maps. The christians revolted, in province where there are no christians, including my capital. I had to send my army all the ways to kyushu while converting them, their ninjas killed my monks and no metsukes to kill them. After beating them, I was preparing for realm dvided, one province rebelled and somehow became ikkoikki. All my best armies in Kyushu. My inlaws betrayed me, Three daimyos of mine died in different battles. It was the most fun campaign I play. Running around avoiding getting fucked. Try to attack only weakspots. Making vassals and leaving their gift regiment to delay enemies superior armies. The cause came from the Otomo, they attack me for no reason, and their missionaries are a night mare.
Christian Daimyo: I have a problem with the Ikko Ikki Shinto Daimyo: I also have a problem with the Ikko Ikki CDaimyo: Cool, we can be friends until they are gone...*after that it gets difficult*
The AI ikko ikki is a total beast, every time they get huge and powerful, because they don’t have the religious unhappiness that the player gets. If you play as the Hattori or Oda you can keep them in check, but if not they just get too powerful, their units are amazing, and AI doesn’t really have cost/upkeep issues
Imagine, Just imagine if the Ikko Ikki movement had survive the Sengoku Jidai period and establish themself as predominant power in Japan. I'm guessing thing would have been change by far turning Japan into religion dominant based country like Iran-Irak or Saudi Arabia. Comodore Perry would have arrived but World War 2 and Cold War would have been vastly different.
I remember doing this on legendary back in the day, took a few attempts, but what ended up working was just leaning real hard into ikko ikki religion with priests spreading rebellions everywhere all at once. Good times.

I want to see a meetup of one the descendants of each and every clan in the game. then they all play each other on multiplayer for domination of japan.
I was dominating as Takeda and crushed the Uesugi and Hojo. But the Ikko Ikki see through my defenses and use my only weakness against me. They crash my game from the sheer numbers of models in the field.
Is this not normal (everbody declares on you). In most other total war gsmes on higher diff it's like: Ai to ther ai: "He see that guy (player), let's fuck em up. Other ai: "Yeah let's do it." Player get's declared on by most of the known world: "Ah shit, here we go again." Still great vid keep it up Pilps
Well, I found the situation of Ikko Ikki after the end of Sengoku Jidai. They were divided into two powers, one in the east and the other in the west. This result is because they united Mori clan and confronted oda clan in 1570, and in 1580 they To make peace, but the elder son led by Ikko Ikki chose to continue the confrontation, so the leader passed the seat to the younger son. First time as the Ikko Ikki, Otomo became my enemies, the fuckers missionaries are my nightmares. They owned half the maps. The christians revolted, in province where there are no christians, including my capital. I had to send my army all the ways to kyushu while converting them, their ninjas killed my monks and no metsukes to kill them. After beating them, I was preparing for realm dvided, one province rebelled and somehow became ikkoikki. All my best armies in Kyushu. My inlaws betrayed me, Three daimyos of mine died in different battles. It was the most fun campaign I play. Running around avoiding getting fucked. Try to attack only weakspots. Making vassals and leaving their gift regiment to delay enemies superior armies. The cause came from the Otomo, they attack me for no reason, and their missionaries are a night mare.

The AI ikko ikki is a total beast, every time they get huge and powerful, because they don’t have the religious unhappiness that the player gets. If you play as the Hattori or Oda you can keep them in check, but if not they just get too powerful, their units are amazing, and AI doesn’t really have cost/upkeep issues

Imagine, Just imagine if the Ikko Ikki movement had survive the Sengoku Jidai period and establish themself as predominant power in Japan. I'm guessing thing would have been change by far turning Japan into religion dominant based country like Iran-Irak or Saudi Arabia. Comodore Perry would have arrived but World War 2 and Cold War would have been vastly different.

I was dominating as Takeda and crushed the Uesugi and Hojo. But the Ikko Ikki see through my defenses and use my only weakness against me. They crash my game from the sheer numbers of models in the field.
Is this not normal (everbody declares on you).
In most other total war gsmes on higher diff it's like:
