I’ve had my 2011 d22 for the last 9 years. Haven’t had one thing go wrong with it. It is a bit sluggish and I’ll admit it’s more sluggish now since i’ve added extra weight with all the mods i’ve done, but like you said, keep it serviced, take care of it and it will take care of you.
I loved my 2011 YD25......BUT!.......Like you said, they do lack power. The first mods I did on mine were 2" lift, 2.75" exhaust, EGR blank, catch can and a Steinbauer. Made a huge difference to how it handled and how drove! One thing I will say is they are quite capable as a 4x4 too. Once they get a bit more power, they can keep up with pretty much anything as long as it's not extreme. They are a very light 4x4 compared to cruisers, patrols etc, so making a few mods helps them keep up. Mine never let me down in the 280k I did on it. I love them!
Haha first day I got mine i realised thing handled like a boat. I bet they did the safety tests without a full tank or weight in the back tho because that makes a huge difference in rear end traction.

Ok, my experience with my sons 2008 D22 YD25. The crank angle sensor is in a vulnerable position to water and more importantly oil leaks. And when you get oil on it, it will run like shit (mine at idle). Before a mechanic tells you the timing chain needs replacing, get under the car and make sure its not soaked in oil. It can happen from oil spilt when the oil filter is changed, causing oil to run down the electrical conduit and a worn sensor "O" rings.......In my case both had happened. Mine was throwing out the code 0336, which is a number of things including crank angle sensor and it does also include wore timing chain. Now, to make sure the top chain had not jumped, I took off the front cover (real easy) and rotated the engine a lot of revolution to get TDC (I mean a lot, and take out the glow plugs). Mine was perfectly aligned at TDC through to the cam marks. But what I saw and what I read about the top tensioner it's obviously is a bad design, to where the after market guys include in their kits a tensioner piston spacer (7mm I believe) because over time with chain stretch, which is probably caused by it jumping/wiping around, it doesn't surprise me they jump. What I did was to purchase a new top chain tensioner and I cut a 10mm spacer from the old tensioner piston and inserted it into the new tensioner first followed by the new piston. Perfect fit and no more cam chain noise! Again before you have a mechanic tell you the timing chain needs replacing, check your crank angle sensor for contamination. Before you ever get to that point of it failing, get under the car and Denso wrap it all the way up as far as you can reach. Happy motoring!!

Mines about 650-700km to a tank. Can confirm the hate for this vehicle. Seems everyone loves to ride on your arse even though I'd be speeding. Had the oil cooler go on mine, still not sure what happened. Had to flush the radiator four times and it's still not right. Great bang for your buck I don't care what anyone says👍

I wanted a d22 however there wasn’t enough room really so I got a d40
If I could do it again I'd really consider the diesel V6 D40 550! What I could do with 6 cylinders haha!
Hey mate, nice work. What's the name of the band you play in?
Hey mate, facebook.com/sleeping.dogs.warwick/
This is the main band that keeps me on my toes. We're on soundcloud and Insta too, head over and check us out ✌
Any idea of the saftey rating on these cars mate

Mate 98kw sounds massive compared to my ln111r😂
I have the 3.3 d22.the previous owner treated it like shit.iv rebuilt the engine and fitted some mods but over all its never let me down i like it alot and plan to keep it even after i get something newer.its a 03 model before nissan went to crap dont buy a nissan after about 07.the boss of nissan was embezzling money so the cars became crap apparently
Who replaces the sump plug??
Probably talking about the crush washer my dude. :)
650 - 700 seems about average on the D22 Forums, and I'd say that's about what I'm getting. Its unreal how much people hate these cars, I reckon they go damn hard! Thats a bummer though and no idea whats wrong hey? What's it doing?
@@ap4x4 Not really sure, the mechanic said it kind of split internally. So the oil pressure was fed into the cooling system where it all came out through the coolant bottle 😬 All I noticed was the heater not working. Got very lucky there in terms of potential for damage to the engine.
I've found mine handles the rocks of the vic high country easier then my old gq with 2 inch sus 2inch body and 33s. currently testing the waters with a custom draglink im making out of my old one though with no ball joints, should probably finish the custom dash too lol
The 185cm thing makes me laugh, I’m 197 and it’s the worst driving position ever, feel like that tall guy from the Simpson’s in his small car
Hahahaha, man I dont know how you deal!
Haha, it’s a struggle but worth it because I love the Nav
I fixed the potato engine altho i had the zd30 but now its got a VK45de V8 Waaaayyy better😉
Struth! How'd you go fitting that in?
@@ap4x4 i got me mate glenn at the lab limited to fit it. He knows his stuff. Type in v8 navara and look for the lab limited youtube channel its all on there i dont know how to share links haha.
