I love my Petrol twin cab. So cheap to run because no expensive diesel sensors etc causing problems. Filters, Oil and fluid changes and that’s it!
Bonus is so smooth and quiet. We run the 4.0 as a generator when camping to top up off grid batteries. No diesel stink in the camp either. I love it. Sensibly driven I get 11 to 12 L/100 no worries. 18 towing 2.5 ton. On 91 or 95 whatever’s cheapest.

Also they use alot of technology not found in other 4wds such as unit injectors as well as funky problems caused by things such as oil in wiring harness so you need to find mechanics that know what they are doing on this particular car.

As was mentioned, what you save buying a lower priced unleaded vehicle can be $ thousands, so no bank loans, no interest etc. Why spend $60k to $100k on a diesel to save a few fuel cents and then laugh at a V8 unleaded owner of an older model who owes $0 to a bank has used savings to fit it out with accessories etc (and a long range tank).

Picked up my 90 a year or so ago for $5700 and was clean with one owner and full service history since then Ive built it into a fine off road tourer. It was stock when purcahsed and have spent a heap on suspension and getting the engine etc ready for the big trips. Will be taking her next year as back up vehicle in the kidney Kar rally. Love the 24/7 4wd channel. Nice video Jocko love that you mentioned the 90 series very underrated Ive pulled my mates 80 series out a few times haha blow there minds when you get pass a difficult section of track and they say how you do that. Asd 2” spring spacers, 30-40 mm wheel spacers, longer shock absorvers and abs sensors, a winch and good bumpers and you have a go anywhere beast.
The engine is easy to remap to 165hp with no risk apart of broken exhaust pipe screws(cheap to replace with disco3 ones forever). Cut the pipe nerves and that’s it.
You’ll keep a good 11 to 12/100kms fully loaded(could be a bit more if full time in low gear)…
Parts are cheap and the car is easy to fix anywhere as it’s really simple(I don’t get why people keep on saying it’s a car with too much electronics…wich I can’t find..).
