    With this candy apple recipe I used 4-3-1 candy apple recipe and will be referring to this recipe from now on:
    4 cups sugar
    3 cups water
    1 cup light corn syrup
    Flavor
    I've been doing this recipe for a minute now. I decided to share this because I figured you might want to try a candy apple recipe with the perfect crisp and crunch. This recipe holds up very well. Again, I've been doing this recipe for a minute now. To be honest, half the time I don't even measure. I figured this recipe out on a mistake because my daughter had misplaced my measuring cups one day and I actually loved it!....LOL.
    If you want the perfect candy apple with the perfect crunch and crisp you must use the 431 candy apple recipe. Also make sure you take the time to scrape the bottom of your candy apples on the side of your pot also. Doing this will make you have the perfect candy apples with this perfect candy apple recipe. If you skip this step, you will have all the extra candy on the bottom of your candy apples. If you are making your candy apples for a customer, I'm sure you'd like your apples to look perfect.
    Here is my 6-4-1 Candy Apple tutorial if you're looking to cover 8-24 apples with the perfect crunch and non-thick apples. Customers love it, when their candy apples are not too thick:

      Hi, Kisha!
      Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel!! To answer your question, it just depends on how many apples I need to get dipped. If I only need a few apples dipped I use the 311. When I have to get a lot of apples dipped I use this one-->> ruclips.net/video/7k7tuxnsT0M/видео.html. In this 4-3-1 tutorial this is a perfect crunch. The candy apples are not too thick using this recipe.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад +6

      Hello, and thank you so much! Sure I don't mind explaining the difference. 431 is 4 cups of sugar, 3 cups of water, and 1 cup of light corn syrup while 411 uses only 1 cup of water.
      431 allows me to use a little more water which will give my candy apples the perfect crunch, and perfect crisp. I can also get more apples dipped without my candy getting so thick to prevent me from dipping my candy apples smoothly.
      In contrast, in my opinion 411 is too thick, the candy apple mixture gets too thick in which I can only get a few candy apples dipped. It doesn't let me dip my candy apples smoothly. As a beginner and even myself when I used 411 candy apple recipe, I only got frustrated because I had too many issues with it. This is why I created 4-3-1 candy apple recipe for those who are going through the same thing. Let me know if I explained this good for you.

      Hi, K. Niang. They hold up just like the regular candy apple recipes. I have a subscriber in Florida that states the same thing. She stated she places her candy apples in the refrigerator due to the heat and humidity. But as soon as she takes them out, she stated the candy apples melt even when she used Hi-Sweet to prevent stickiness and melting issues.
      I suggested that she gets a dehumidifier to place in the kitchen to pull the humidity out her house. I will ask her if that helped and let you know. Because there's nothing else you can really do because you live where the humidity is very high. I don't think she has this issue during the fall and winter. Only Spring and Summer.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  2 года назад +2

      That's a greatttttttt question. Your candy apple mixture is too thick from the beginning. I had that problem too when I first started making candy apples. I no longer have that problem after I started making candy apples using 6-4-1 which means 6 cups of sugar, 4 cups of water, and 1 cup of corn syrup for up to 8-24 small apples. I used 4-3-1 which is 4 cups of sugar, 3 cups of water, and 1 cup of corn syrup for up to 7-8 apples. Try one of these recipes and come back and let me know how it worked out for you. I made my first batch using this recipe! But......It took my thermometer 1hour and 15 min to reach 300 degrees. It seemed like it stayed at 200 too long. Once it did, it was thickening so fast. I got to apple number 5 and I had to hurry up! What did I do wrong. My electric stove was between med and 6. Help I wanna try again. Flavor and color was good at least.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад +1

      You did good considering your very first try. My first try I couldn't even get the candy to stick to the apples. My candy was sliding all down the apples.
      This recipe takes longer because more water is added so the candy apples are not too thick. It will stay between 200-240 for a minute before the temperature rises with any candy recipe. It shouldn't have been thickening so fast. I recommend putting your candy apple mixture on anywhere between 4-5.
      Did you use regular granulated sugar? It really sounds like you may have put too much gel food coloring or flavoring in it. Make sure you have a teaspoon and try not to put no more than a teaspoon of gel food coloring and flavoring in it until you get the hang of it, because both can definitely make your candy apple mixture thick. I hope this helps you. I believe in you! You got this!

    • @Mrslckhrt01
      @Mrslckhrt01 Год назад +1

      Ok..my second attempt, same thing. This time it took the mixture 1 hour and 30 min to reach 300 degrees. It rose to 200 in 30 min but stayed at 200 seemed like forever. Help! I had a 3 quart stainless steel pot, my stove is the glass top electric stove, i only used 1 tsp of flavor a d 3 dropz of the white.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад

      Turn down your stove. It sounds like you may need a one on one tutorial. Have patience because your candy will reach 300 degrees. Put your stove on 4.

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  Год назад

      Also your 3 drops of white might be too heavy. I’m heavy handed as well. Try 1 no more than 2 drops as well. Wait to add your flavoring and color at the end and see if that’ll get it. Too much flavoring and gel food coloring will make your candy apple mixture thick as well.

    Can you bite into these apples using the 4-3-1?

      Hi, J Gee. You sure can. The reason why I started adding more water to thin the candy mixture out, was because my customers didn't want thick candy apples. So the only way I could figure out how to thin the candy was to add more water.

      Your candy apples will get hard. Eventually, it will but this recipe is added with 3 cups of water to thin down the thickness of candy apples and this also allows you to dip all of your apples before the candy thickens up on you to finish.

    How much do you charge for these?

      I always tell people to make sure you get your money back that you put in, and then charge your fee and/or the time you spent making custom treats by the hour. For plain apples with wooden stick $5 per apple and anything decorated starts at $8+ per apple.

    I want to try 4-2-1 instead of 4-1-1 just to see how many apples I can get out of batch.

      Camelia, this recipe is to thin out the candy so it won't be too thick. Now if you need 8-24 candy apples dipped in one batch, then try this recipe in my video tutorial, here: ruclips.net/video/7k7tuxnsT0M/видео.html I hope this helps you.

    I thought u did 6-4-1?

    • @DIYQUEENDIVA
      @DIYQUEENDIVA  2 года назад +2

      Hello, Angella Thames. Yes I absolutely, use the 6-4-1. The 6-4-1 candy apple recipe will get up to 24 candy apples. When I don't have a big batch to dip I will use the 4-3-1. So when you have only 6 apples to dip, this is the go to recipe if you don't want your candy apples too thick. I wanted to share this when you have a few candy apples to dip so you don't have so much candy remaining or leftover. I hope this helps.
