After an insane Mexican street food tacos tour of Tijuana, we continued south in Baja California to Popotla - a fishing village teeming with every fresh seafood you can imagine - including giant spider crabs, also known as Martian crabs. Before leaving Tijuana we had some amazing seafood breakfast, and continued to eat legendary carne asada, finishing off with an epic crab and seafood meal. #Mexico #MexicanFood #streetfood
Thanks to my friend Jeffrey Merrihue ( / jeffrey_merrihue ) for organizing this trip. And to Scott Koenig: / agringoinmexico and Paco Perez: / aquiestexcoco for arranging this tour. Thanks to Sebastian: / sonsoftheseamex for hooking us up in Popotla.
Mariscos El Paisa (g.page/elpaisaoriginal?share) - Tijuana, Mexico - But first, in the morning before leaving Tijuana, we thought it would be a great idea to get started eating some seafood to get warmed up. At Mariscos El Paisa (Mariscos El Conchal del Paisa), their crab tostadas are out of this world, and we had an amazing fresh seafood shellfish cocktail as well. Amazing place to eat when you’re in Tijuana.
Tacos El Yaqui - Perrones Tijuana - Then on the way to Popotla, further south in Baja California, we stopped at Tacos El Yaqui for legendary carne asada. Their huge tacos were amazing.
Mariscos La Estrella (goo.gl/maps/TryrkzbyKXvMeyb79) - Popotla, Mexico - But the real highlight of the day was arriving to Popotla for the amazing seafood. The fishing village community is a full seafood market where you can get anything from the sea. But the big ticket is the spider martian crabs. At Mariscos La Estrella, she fried them up, simple and extremely delicious. When you go to Popotla, go say hi and have a meal at Mariscos La Estrella as she is rebuilding her restaurant!

Who else got hooked on Mark from watching his first trip to Mexico over a year ago?
🙋♀️
me.. for sure
Mexico is so beautiful and people are so humble. Western media should show how rich and lovely people are. Always showing dirty side or negatives of a country like their country is god. Loads of love to Mexico from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳❤️❤️❤️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽. I wish I visit this beautiful country one day . (Tacos are really famous in India among youth❤️❤️)
✔✔Thanks for taking the time to show the true side of mexican🇲🇽 culture. The side of mexico that the media don't show..
this guy is living half of my whole dream. and yeah, although i live at the opposite side of the globe from mexico, i always dream that one day im gonna be able to travel safely to try different local delicacies in your beautiful and dangerous country. lol
@@willya1521 omg that´s my dream tooo
@@davids_blog1 yeah, i love to learn the culture of a place from their food. it tells a great deal of their livelihood presently. fastest way to know the people is from what they are eating.
wish you will find the freedom, and maybe, also the companionship to fulfill that dream bro.
Sorry but Mexico has been inhabitable by Americans for awhile. I grew up in San Diego in the 80s. As young as 12. I would walk across the border without parents with a few buddy's and we would take a cab to revaluation and have fun. I was gifted a lease in rosarito for 80 years as I can't own property in Mexico as an American . The property was past the gas plant and Corona factory at the time there was a ozone clinic next door (this was a treatment for cancer, aids and other maladys at some point. It was illigal in the US so people from around the world would go there for treatment). Spent every weekend here for years. It was on the beach and was beautiful. I can still taste the salt on my tounge as you as I would walk in the door. Everything was rusted even if we replaced it because it was so close to the ocean. Would occasionally go to Ensenada it was a lot of fun and good food. Built houses and schools in tijuana for the church. But around 98' 99' maybe 2000 it became impossible to go because of the violence. People were getting kidnapped especially Americans because they held a high ransom. I have not been to my property in over 20 years. Who knows it may be gone.
Uninhabitable
Mexico continues to amaze me by how much it can use almost the same ingredients for countless dishes and still make them seem incredibly different from each other.
In Mexico, every State has its own signature dish n everything is bomb. Every State wants to have the best dish in the Country....its the same anywhere.. Its just like having a LA Hot Dog VS a Chicago Dog VS New York Style Hot Dogs... LA Dodger Dogs and Pinks Hot Dogs r the BEST!! LoL
@@trovekrotek7050 I've had real Mexican food and it's a world of difference from the crap they call Mexican food in the states.
@@heru-deshet359 Totally I'm mexican who has traveled plenty of times to see Friends and relatives in US and everytime I even went to the authentic places, there's something always a lil bit off... the way they make it isn't really like homemade, in Mexico people take cooking very serious as if everyone would like to have their own special twist in every dish they make, being one of the countries who has mastered the use of peppers, spices and chiles, so anytime we do something is in order to like be the best at it with your own récipe, even if it's the same dish over and over people have made so many variations to it and how to prep things up that it's never the same flavour, each state and even each town has their own way to make the same dishes or their own signature dishes aswell. So the only way to taste Mexican food is to eat it in Mexico, the freshness of every ingredient ever used exist all over the country and that's not something you can have in US. even if you had the same recipe instructions to follow up, the person behind has to be mexican and a lot of other things involved in order to experience what mexican food is, bc after all that is what it is for us an (almost spiritual lol) experience to enjoy the food that is in front of us.
Well they kind of are but that’s ok, that’s the magic of our gastronomy, how we are able to transform something as simple as corn, chiles, and tomatoes (those are the base of Mexican food) in so many different things, only with corn we can make tortillas, tostadas, tamales, atole, Pozole, empanadas and so many more amazing things so that’s what makes it amazing, using simple ingredients and transform them in something amazing
@@ithervert Every country has ways of taking simple basic ingredients and making a delicious variety of meals with them.
Yay the Mexico series continues!🥰 Who is enjoying Mark’s Mexico series? 🙋🏻♀️ I really enjoy it! The seafood looks so tasty. Imagine eating a crab so big that you have to use a stone to open the crab claw 😂😍 Thanks for the awesome content as always Mark!!❤️

Yeah, in between hundreds of automatic weapons bullets that have killed thousands, the violence has delapidated the Mexican travel and tourism industry. This Mexico series motivates me to keep working hard to payoff my house in the USA to one day buy a little seaside cottage and dine like this on the daily. 🇲🇽🙏🏻❤️
Blessings hope you achieve your dream. One of mine as well closer to CantaMar
cruzer cruz thank you so much! The husband and I will start traveling to different seaside towns to see where we like it the best. We are hoping somewhere that is not popular with tourists lol Hope all of OUR (yours and mine) dreams come true. 🙏🏻😭
Karis Del Real thanks I appreciate it also. Popotla didn’t get too many tourist that’s where the big spider crab is. Ensenada has its moments where boat cruises stop for a day but the city is huge that is not over crowded

watching you eat that tostada... i remember the tostada i had in Guadalajara at the flea market YEARS ago. we got it with shrimp. we didnt speak spanish, they didnt speak english, but we pointed at the menu and knew the word "camarón" and got the most amazing tostadas for a few pesos. the lime juice was so bright and lovely, the onions were almost sweet, and the shrimp was almost a ceviche because it was so lightly cooked. the avocado was.... sublime. If you ever wind up in Guadalajara, go to the top floor of the flea market and look for the tostada stall. it was so delicious that i dont think i'll forget it for the rest of my life.
