Jamaican Seafood - Today was dedicated to Jamaican seafood - and what a another memorable day in Jamaica it was. We scored big with some amazing fresh Caribbean King Crab, which I didn’t even know as a thing - and we had an amazing day of fresh Jamaican food!
Smokeez by the sea (goo.gl/maps/xcbegGg7tnXZUNCz8) - Our first stop for the day was in Montego Bay, Jamaica, at a laid back chill out spot called Smokeez by the sea. While we were there, a fisherman came in with his fresh catch including barracuda. So along with the pepper janga (crayfish) and some jerk octopus, we also got a taste of ultra fresh escovitch barracuda. Amazing place, great hospitality.
Far Out Fish Hut - North Coast, Jamaica - Next up we started driving down the North Coast of Jamaica, and made a quick stop at Far Out Fish Hut to eat a simple dish of fish tea. It was mainly fish bones and a few spices boiled until comforting and delicious. It’s the way to get started on a Jamaican seafood feast.
Rock Wharf Luminous Lagoon (goo.gl/maps/ZM5NSjbb22fxhkYcA) - But our main goal for the way was to get the seafood, fish, lobsters which Matt brought, and the Caribbean king crab we bought, with us to the beautiful Rock Wharf in Falmouth, Jamaica.
They cooked an amazing array of Jamaican food for us, including Escovitch fish, Jamaican Steamed Fish, Bammy, mahi mahi in an amazing marinade, and finally King crab rundown! What a dish and what an outstanding place.
For our final activity of the day, we took a boat in the luminous lagoon once it was dark - but unfortunately due to weather conditions, we weren’t able to see the luminosity of the lagoon. Typically the luminous lagoon illuminates with bright colors. Unfortunately we were unlucky tonight. Next time!!

The best of the Caribbean is always outside of the hotels. The local foods are amazing. You will never get that at the hotels.

You can NEVER go wrong with ANY Jamaican dish. Walk into almost any Jamaican restaurant & order fried chicken and you'll be wowed at the great taste. You can order ANY Jamaican signature dish off the menu & then don't be surprised if you end up licking your finger & wanting to order seconds.
And the RUNDOWN is something to experience!
PS: Rest assured we ONLY use ingredients & seasonings commonly used by all. The diff for us is in the preparation & execution at cooking time. E.g, the fried chicken's great taste is due to how we use 1 commonly used seasoning. Makes all the diff!

Jamaican food is amazing. I think it's because of all of the influences (e.g. Taino, Spanish, British, African, Indian, Chinese, Syrian, etc.) since Jamaica is a very rich melting pot of many different races and ethnicities. I would say the same thing about Trinidad. Find yourself some Jamaican food. You won't be sorry!

Oh wow wow wow.... I have always preferred fish to meat and this made my mouth water from the start... I am going to do that cocoanut thyme scallion cream sauce on cod . What an awesome food adventure! Jamaican food is world reknown to be very diverse, truly awesome.
That is a new discovery with the Caribbean King Crab, which does look like a mixture of Northern Pacific King Crab and a Mud Crab, truly looks unique something to feast on. The Freshwater Crayfish appear to be the transplanted Australian Red Claw variety.
