Did the MSF course about a year ago now, best thing I ever did. Dropped the bike 2-3 times in the course and that stuck with me in real life. Teaches you confidence too
Im 50, I'm taking the msf course this July. Im nervous and excited, I've been binge watching these types of videos. Your video helped me out to have a clear mindset. Appreciate this
UPDATE: I passed my msf course this past weekend with flying colors! The biggest struggle for me was U-Turns at slow speed maneuver, BUT, the coaches provided me some feedback and applied it and I was making slow speed maneuvers in a U-Turn look like a cake walk! Go in with an open mind, ready to learn, receive the feedback and apply it and you'll do great!
@@12_inch_spinnerz Great job! Was the multiple choice test for your permit pretty easy? I have mine scheduled for October but plan to do my MSF before getting my permit.
Just passed the course this past weekend. Was my first time ever sitting on a motorcycle. Dropped the bike once during braking in a curve. Pressed the brakes too hard and didn’t have the handlebars straight. Then to make matters worse I had to switch bikes before the test because the one I dropped wouldn’t turn on. Damn. Lol. Passed the test though so all good and got a nice lesson on emergency braking in turns.
A friend of mine encouraged me to take the MSF course and obtain my license instead of just buying a bike and "ride dirty." I was happy that I took the course because I definitely learned some things on top of getting a discount on my insurance because I passed the course. The written test is mostly basic defensive driving knowledge. Study the acronyms S.E.E. , T.C.L.O.C.S, and F.I.N.E. - C. Other than remembering the acronyms, you should be good on the written if you pay attention. Mistakes while riding are ok! Just don't make too many lol. I think 16 points or less gets you a pass. Points are accumulated when you mess up. The biggest thing I can say is stay upright. DO NOT DROP THE BIKE. That could potentially be an automatic fail. Really, I'd say that 90% of people should be just fine. The instructors do not set you up to fail. Lol, I'm done now! Thanks for the video, 6! RESPECT 👊🏾.
Thank you for this, 35 this year, never even driven a manual car, and that fact has my confidence about succeeding in the course low, but I've got my MSF course booked for early August. It's good to keep in the front of my mind that they aren't there to fail me - but they're there to help me succeed. Ridden a bicycle since I was a lil' jit, and still ride at least once a week during the riding season - mostly theraputic to get out and away, always wanted to ride a motorcycle but was just never exposed to it.
I'm glad you mentioned the Bicycle part. I'll probably make a video on that. Most people come to the course and haven't ridden a bike in YEARS. Riding a bicycle will put you ahead of the other for sure because you'll have the mechanics of riding on two wheels down. Shifting gears is only difficult when you first get started. Understand that it's supposed to be difficult because it's a brand new skill you have to learn. Understanding that will help you to not get frustrated. You'll only shift to second gear in the course, and you'll only do that about 5 or 6 times. No worries at all! You'll do great!
@@uptownkickzz5931 Thank you! I just finished day 2 (day 1 on the range) and I was doing so much better than I expected, then I confidently layed the bike down. Did a no-stop slow approach waiting to go for the next part of the course and then I went forward when the person in front went - but they stalled and I quickly stop'd but it layed the bike down oh so gently. Embarassing, but no scratches or damage to the bike or me thankfully. The group I'm in is really great, 6 people 4 girls and 2 guys including myself, everyone's really upbeat and encouraging. I'm nervous for tomorrow, hoping I don't do something stupid again and it's supposed to rain, so if I pass I can atleast get past the unknown fears of weather and maneuvering around safely.

Just finished day 1 of 2 of the MSF, was doing really well that I could lead the group in the drills. All of us struggled with the stop into low speed turn but have done some more research on how to get that going. I think the most important part of all this is to really understand what the drills are enforcing in your habits so youre safe on the road. Great vid Cutloe you a DAWG
That's exactly what the drills are for. They know those slow speed drills are hard, especially for new riders, but they want to show you how important it is to get comfortable with those drills because anyone can go fast but it takes skill to maneuver the bike in slow speeds. Thanks for checking out the video brother! Let us know how the second day goes.
@@6GearCutloe Hey so passed the class no problem, did the course on the KTM 200 that the school provided so it was one of the better bikes of the fleet. Actually got to be the Bike Lead for most of the drills and the skills exam. Great video. I was the weakest rider in my class, but I was there early every day and asked questions and let the coaches know what I thought were my weak points were and tried to listen to what they said. Three riders that I know were better than me failed the exam. All three put their foot down multiple times during the final exam phase. I went wide on U turn and missed a cone in the curves section and probably got points in every stage of the exam and passed. The coaches didn't let on how we scored until we went inside. I think that was the worst part of the whole course. Everyone drop their bike at least once if not more during the 3 day course no big deal, just don't drop it during the exam. the student that dropped their bike the most during training had the best score at the end of the exam. Remember make sure you do the e-course before you get there or you won't get to ride.
I have to ask did you have any riding experience at all because I don’t and I feel like I should know at least how to start rolling and stopping the bike
@@yensu8671nah they’ll teach you everything. I’ve never rode before so I’ll have to learn everything too. Was watching a lot of videos but that was months back. Don’t remember much tips. Mainly let go of the clutch slowly so it doesn’t stall
It is great to see MSF endorsement; I took mine in 2010 and I had been riding motocross from age 12..I'm 49 years old now. I still learnt lots of things!! I did se two people not make it off the course, one was a teenager that their folks brought and he wasn't mature enough, he kept dropping the bike and not really listening to instruction. The other was a lady, petite and she wanted to start riding because she had lost her husband who had left her a full dresser Harley, she didn't want to sell it. There was no way she was riding that dresser, she was not confident enough and too petite, she was dropping the training bikes left and right. I honestly felt sorry for her; the instructors gave her their honest opinion not to ride.
Took the msg course, failed the final. First time on a bike. 4 hours first day, 3 hours next day with the test. I learned a lot though. Went from nothing motorcycle to able to operate in first gear. The final test I was just too slow, never left first, haven't got the confidence to shift to second.. oh well.

@@6GearCutloe . Hi sir. I passed my msf course today. What an experience for a beginner rider omg. It was worth it all tho. Learned a lot over this weekend about motorcycle.
shoot I got a sad story I could not even make it to the course on the final day but luckily in my state I can do a permit a lone and get an endorsement.
I'm taking mine next week. I'm excited and nervous! I plan on buying a Honda Rebel 300 as a college graduation gift for myself so I figure what better way to learn than through MSF!
Taking the course this weekend. Your video was a great confidence builder. Definitely hyped and ready to learn and join the community of riders! Thanks a lot gang! 🤙🏾💪🏾
Taking mine in August. Last time I let my nerves get me after I did a 180 on the bike - saved both myself and the bike but my nerves hit an all time high. Chickened out. But hoping this round is better for me.
Everyone goes through similar learning pains. Keep at it, and you'll get it. Don't be afraid to ask for extra help. Good luck family! Let us know how it goes.
If you feel like you did bad, then you're on the right path. This is new to you, you're not going to come to MSF and pop wheelies 😂. It's like a baby trying to walk... after a while it will become easy. Keep at it! Don't give up! You'll make it, I promise!
@Bekah That's awesome! Congrats! Now the task is to continue to practice with your bike, alone, in a parking lot. Do it until you're comfortable. Take your time, be patient, don't get frustrated, and you'll start having fun really soon!
Thank you for taking the time out to watch this video. You're already on the right path. Get as much information as you can and be ready to learn. You'll do great!
Do you need to know how to take off on a bike in order to take MSF classes or do they teach you that during classes? It's one thing to sit on a bike, but to confidently take off is another ball game.
Taking mine tomorrow and the second day a week from now, split over two Mondays. I'd have rather done it Saturday and Sunday but I can't get out of what I'm doing Saturdays for another couple months. I picked up a Triumph Trident 660 a little less than a month ago, between waiting on insurance and the class I haven't taken it out yet but I can hardly wait. I'm nervous but looking forward to it 👍
Thank you for this video. It put me at ease. I take my MSF this weekend. I’m nervous about the written test. (Test anxiety) I am a female, 60 years young and getting back on a bike was on my bucket list. Road in my early 20’s. Stopped while raising a family. Bought my Dyna Lowrider in June. Have been out riding. Just need to work on the slow speed and tight turns. I got this! Right? 😬
Thank you for checking the video. You'll be fine. The written test is pretty easy if you're paying attention and ask questions for anything that you may not understand. The slow speed turns are difficult for everyone, even experienced riders. The key is to look where you want to go and believe in your throttle Control in the friction zone. All of this will make sense during the course. Check back in and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
Thanks for checking out the video. Everyone is nervous, and that's perfectly normal. Ask your instructor as many questions as you can and ask for help if you have trouble with the maneuvers. You'll do great! Come back and let us know how it goes.
I got day 2 tmr, I felt great first day but I stalled one time and he kinda tried to belittle me and didn’t really tell me how to correct. I let it get in my head. Gonna go tmr with an unbroken mindset
Way to keep a positive mindset moving forward. Everyone stalls the bike, you'll continue to stall it well after you pass the course. Like you said, don't let it get in your head. Check out a few vids on not stalling the bike and you'll get it brother! Good luck family!

Hey yo 6 !, you good great aptitude I like it how you lay it down bro . I’m on my second bike 🏍️ 2018 Zx-6r and I’m still have been riding on my MP , my first bike I ever own was a 2006 Honda CBR-600RR had it for 3 years 2009/2012. Just got my ninja 🥷 just got my Zx-6r six months ago after been off riding for 11 years almost. I got enrolled today for my MSF for October over here in Catersville Ga, with the Harley Davidson MSF !!. I saw you are here in Marietta riding by the big chicken 🐔. Be safe bro 👊🏻🙌🏻👍🏻
I am getting ready to take it. I have a motorcycle that I’ve been using around the neighborhood to get practice, but would you recommend using their bikes on the actual course?
Yo, how are you liking those dainese pants? Got mines a few weeks ago. Feels warm and comfy with protected knee armor, but it feels a little baggy. Fell down on it doing slow speed maneuvers and the armor it did an excellent job, barely felt the bike on my leg and the pants was still good.
I'm sorry to hear about the fall. I'm glad the pants did their job. I love these pants. The zipper for the vent helps in heat, and they are pretty warm when it's cold.
I got my motorcycle permit, aced it. Never drove a motorcycle, but I ride a high powered e bike on the streets. Do you think that will translate well to riding a motorcycle at the msf course?
Yes, there's a written test at the end of MSF. Easy to pass if you pay attention. I'm pretty sure you can use your own bike, but I wouldn't recommend it. Use theirs in case you drop it.
Enjoyed the video bro! I’m taking the course next Saturday on the 15th. I took the erider online class so I’m ready for the riding portion. I already bought my bike 2 weeks ago and been practicing. Didn’t really struggle at all. Now I’m just fixing my errors and doing much better. Are high ankle sneakers ok?
If I remember correctly, we spent maybe a total of 2 hours in the classroom. One test is an in class test. The other test is a riding test that you must complete. It usually consists of slow speed maneuvers .
Hey man, I'm 35 no riding experience but it's always been my dream to ride motorcycles. I just passed my motorcycle permit test, and I plan on doing MSF next month. Should I be worried as a person with 0 experience? Or will MSF walk me through and prep me on all I need to know?
I started riding at 34. Zero riding experience. Didn't even know how to drive a manual car. MSF Basic Rider Course will get you started. You'll learn how to get the bike moving and how to turn the bike at slow speeds (harder than it looks). Those skills will set the foundation you need to start learning. After the course, you'll need to practice on a regular basis until you're comfortable enough to hit the public road. Find an empty street or parking lot and practice practice practice! Good luck family!
The only thing you should fear is the disappointment of not trying. You'll be fine, just pay attention to the instructors and ASK as many questions as you need. Good luck brother .
@@6GearCutloe I appreciate that I’m taking the Msf course this month in Louisiana and I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before so I’m in a mission to get all the best info I can on how and where to start

Similar experience at the course I took. One lady didn't make it, but they tried everything to motivate her.
I'm glad I found this video, now I feel confident about taking the MSF course. Thank you so much!
That Msf course was a light breeze long as you pay attention. well said vid bro
True indeed. Thanks brother.
Took the msg course, failed the final. First time on a bike. 4 hours first day, 3 hours next day with the test. I learned a lot though. Went from nothing motorcycle to able to operate in first gear. The final test I was just too slow, never left first, haven't got the confidence to shift to second.. oh well.
Hello from Bundaberg Australia 😝👍 im 59 & always wanted to ride a motorcycle 🏍 So before i get to much older ive decided to go do my LAMS Learner Course & while im still able ☺️ ive been watching/ learning from heaps of videos to see what im in for during learners course & because of videos like this one im feeling pretty confident ol be ok 🏍👍☺️ Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🕺🍹
I take my course This weekend. I can't wait. Never roll a motorcycle before but i'm glad I'm taking this class.
You'll have fun and learn a lot! Best of luck at the course Smoove!
@@6GearCutloe . Hi sir. I passed my msf course today. What an experience for a beginner rider omg. It was worth it all tho. Learned a lot over this weekend about motorcycle.
@@smoove2082 congrats!
Damn bro this a good ass video. Ima big man w/ zero confidence, never been on 2 wheels in my life but I’m about to take this bad boi lol
I was the same way. Believe it or not, it'll be people there with less confidence than you. Whatever you do, don't give up! You'll make it!
Passed my MSS course! Thanks for the helpful videos.
Ghost Rider Achievement Unlocked!😎
Lets gooooooooo!!
Hell yea!! Congrats!!
shoot I got a sad story I could not even make it to the course on the final day but luckily in my state I can do a permit a lone and get an endorsement.
I'm taking mine next week. I'm excited and nervous! I plan on buying a Honda Rebel 300 as a college graduation gift for myself so I figure what better way to learn than through MSF!
Sounds like you're ready to ride! Congrats on graduating college. Now, it's time to graduate the MSF Course. Good luck, family!
I'm taking the MSF this weekend! Thanks for all the information!
Good luck, I’m taking mine next weekend.
@@daltby4363 Good luck to you as well!

I’m taking it tomorrow a little nervous but definitely going in wit confidence
How was it?!
@@nickgoodwin1105 pretty good I passed it was indeed hard but I had fun honestly really worth it
Congrats man!
Did the first day today and feel like I did so bad. Now watching a bunch of videos like that’s somehow going to make me pass tomorrow 😭
If you feel like you did bad, then you're on the right path. This is new to you, you're not going to come to MSF and pop wheelies 😂. It's like a baby trying to walk... after a while it will become easy. Keep at it! Don't give up! You'll make it, I promise!
@@6GearCutloe thank you for the encouraging words. I did end up passing!!
@Bekah That's awesome! Congrats! Now the task is to continue to practice with your bike, alone, in a parking lot. Do it until you're comfortable. Take your time, be patient, don't get frustrated, and you'll start having fun really soon!
I appreciate the production, brother. I'm going on Friday for my class. 3 days here in Michigan.
This one was a great one! Thank you good brother. I’m scheduling my course in the next few days .
Thanks brother. Check back in after the course! Let us know how it goes. Good luck and ride safe.
Thank you I’m 13 turning 14 next year and I’m already looking stuff up and everything and I feel like this will help me next year thank you once again
Thank you for taking the time out to watch this video. You're already on the right path. Get as much information as you can and be ready to learn. You'll do great!
Thank you for the insight. I know I just need to go ahead and get it done. Tired of it always being in the back of my mind every time I ride.
You'll have fun and learn a lot. It's a win win! You got it!
Getting ready to take my course April 6-7 got a helmet and gloves and some steel toe work boots should I get good ?
Yep, you're good. Bring a jacket as well.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
Do you need to know how to take off on a bike in order to take MSF classes or do they teach you that during classes? It's one thing to sit on a bike, but to confidently take off is another ball game.
Nope. You don't need to know how to take off. They will teach you that.
I'm nervous but looking forward to it 👍
Being nervous is normal. You'll do fine. Get that Triumph on the road, brother! Good luck with finishing the course.
Good luck!
What an excellent video, I’m taking my course this month & m NERVOUS but I want it so bad …& thanks for building up the confidence ❤❤
Thanks for checking out the video. Everyone is nervous, and that's perfectly normal. Ask your instructor as many questions as you can and ask for help if you have trouble with the maneuvers. You'll do great! Come back and let us know how it goes.
I took it 2x as a new rider, it was fun, most importantly practice, practice, practice 😊
I took it twice too and just passed today! :)😊
Good luck family!
i’m on YT day in day out learning everything i can. plan on taking my MSF course soon hopefully i can get a bike next summer.
Class is end of April and I’m excited!
Hell yea! You'll do great! Perfect time to start riding.
I took my msf course today i took on a cruiser im about 4'10 i had leave class 😔i feel emotional rn since i was let go but i asked for one to one training i was very scared of clutching and braking or crashing onto others
MSF is tomorrow. Thanks for the reminders

Taking msf this weekend July 8 and 9 nervous everyone I talked to said you'll pass I'm just going to go in listen to instructors ask ? And I should be fine by the way it's in wisconsin called cruisin safely msf.
Absolutely no reason to be nervous. Everyone there will be a beginner just like you. As long as you come ready to learn you'll be fine. Let us know how it goes brother.
Good to see you going for the MSF certification, brother! How do you like the Ninja so far?
Awesome middle weight bike , I’m 5’-7” 145 pounds .
Having lot of fun with it after almost 11 years , back in the game 👊🏻🙌🏻🏍️👍🏻, Be safe 6Gearcutloe .
I am getting ready to take it. I have a motorcycle that I’ve been using around the neighborhood to get practice, but would you recommend using their bikes on the actual course?
They usually have the bike available for you to use. I would use thiers if you can. If you've already been practicing, you'll do great.
Last time I rode a moped. And had issues stRti g off what's the best advice for that
Im taking my class on may 25th and 26th. Its gonna be 6 of us in a class. Where can i buy gloves and a helmet? Coming from Texas
Visit your local cycle gear or motorcycle dealership. They should have gloves and helmet. Good luck on the course family.
@6GearCutloe I found some, thanks brother. I went to hornytoadhd to get some.. that's where I'm taking my class also
I know how to ride and all but i am scared about the written exam could you advice me on that?
Whats up brother I want to learn to ride never rode ever I was just going to buy me a 250cc to start off with how much is the class
Awesome! Good luck on your journey. The class is usually about $200 or less in GA.
Thank you!! Much appreciated!!
Thank you family
I dont know how to find or where to find the course in order to take it
msf-usa.org/
Yo, how are you liking those dainese pants? Got mines a few weeks ago. Feels warm and comfy with protected knee armor, but it feels a little baggy. Fell down on it doing slow speed maneuvers and the armor it did an excellent job, barely felt the bike on my leg and the pants was still good.
I'm sorry to hear about the fall. I'm glad the pants did their job. I love these pants. The zipper for the vent helps in heat, and they are pretty warm when it's cold.
Failed my first time. Wish me luck. Test tomorrow. 2nd time is the charm.
What did you do wrong? What steps did you take to get it right?
Going to sign up for the MSF course now
Solid!
I got my motorcycle permit, aced it. Never drove a motorcycle, but I ride a high powered e bike on the streets.
Do you think that will translate well to riding a motorcycle at the msf course?
You'll have an advantage for sure. Most people at the course haven't riding a bicycle in years!
Is there a written test on msf class also ? Or that's just on the dmv?
And also can i use my own bike for training?
Yes, there's a written test at the end of MSF. Easy to pass if you pay attention. I'm pretty sure you can use your own bike, but I wouldn't recommend it. Use theirs in case you drop it.
Enjoyed the video bro! I’m taking the course next Saturday on the 15th. I took the erider online class so I’m ready for the riding portion. I already bought my bike 2 weeks ago and been practicing. Didn’t really struggle at all. Now I’m just fixing my errors and doing much better.
Are high ankle sneakers ok?
If you're already practicing and doing OK, you'll probably be one of the leaders in the drills. Yep high ankle sneakers are fine for the course.
My question is how many hours are the classroom part of the course and what type of test is it.?
If I remember correctly, we spent maybe a total of 2 hours in the classroom. One test is an in class test. The other test is a riding test that you must complete. It usually consists of slow speed maneuvers .
I have to ask I don’t have any riding experience at all is that bad or should I know how to at least get the bike moving?
I had zero riding experience as well. They'll teach you how to get the bike moving. All you have to do is show up and LISTEN. You'll do great!
Im taking it at the end of this month (sep2024) super nervous man but exited
Did it. Failed it. Still riding... with a permit LOL been 2 years now.
Go back and pass that thang! Get that certification on the shelf bro.
@@6GearCutloe thanks bro, I'm excited to finally get my journey started.
@@BADforlyfe Yeah no worries I started when I was 38 and I had no idea about motorcycles but MSF get me thru this really easy.
wish me luck im gonna take the MSF course tomorrow

I went to MSF Training Center in Alpharetta. I believe it was at a Honda location.
I got to take mine July 7to the 9 and I’m scared but I feel like I got this
The only thing you should fear is the disappointment of not trying. You'll be fine, just pay attention to the instructors and ASK as many questions as you need. Good luck brother .
It’s they job to see you succeed trust in the process people
Indeed brother!
Great video man.

Never give up. Pay attention to the instructors and ask hella questions!
Yes get as much experience with open ears. Despite audio interference, you're kosher at getting your point across
Exactly. Thanks for catching that!
Do they give you a test or is just a riding test
Written and riding. It's Easy if you're locked in and paying attention.

@@6GearCutloe I appreciate that I’m taking the Msf course this month in Louisiana and I’ve never ridden a motorcycle before so I’m in a mission to get all the best info I can on how and where to start
Good video 6g. Need a microphone
passed the course at 15, you learn a lot and ride more confidently. before it i dropped my bike 2 out of the 3 times i rode, after it my first ride was nerve racking and i was scared (125 cc msf course bikes to a ninja 650) so i got off. got back on about a week later and rode every day after that never dropped it. take the course, you may think your above what they teach or it isn’t needed but everyone learns something trust me.
Solid!
