Did you have to take apart the front axle disconnect? In Synergy's video they show that you need to take it apart and slide a collar over to remove the axle shafts. Did I just miss it in this video? I ended up buying Dynatrac ball joints for the JT but haven't replaced the stock ones yet.
Yea… I didn’t In this video as I had already deleted the fad and have a solid axle shaft…. You do need to remove the axle in order to press in the ball joints… the shaft will be in the way

JL LIFE OFFROAD before i found my axles i saw some jt rubi axles but the rear needs modification because of the different brackets , the front bolt right up.
I put these in back in 21 of December. And after the rubicon trail. They need to be replaced again. Huh. What's your thoughts of the delet kit from American iron 🤔
Another awesome install video! Great Job guys!Subscribed to Napalm JL lol 😂 just because reminds me of Napalm Death that i used to listened to back highschool 90’s. Anyways i will check them out :)
Thanks buddy! We were super happy to finally get a set of quality ball joints in! Misty has been needing some since October! 😂 He doing great on his channel! U will enjoy! Hope u doing well my friend
Same for Mistys jeep, testing the old ones on the jeep, they seemed fine. Nothing that should of caused DW. Misty has upgraded everything under her front end, BJ were the only stock part left. However we couldn't really do much as nobody had aftermarket ball joints. Synergy keeps saying they are coming, but they were saying December last year back in October. We were getting tired of waiting. These were a huge upgrade and fix the DW. However I will not shy away from saying this should of been the original design from Dana and FCA. If you swap em, and it helps. Let me know will you? im curious about these stock ball joints causing so much DW for so many people and nobody being able to figure it out.
JL LIFE OFFROAD I was keeping an eye out for the synergy ones too. I agree, they should have come that way. I don’t feel it’s something we should have to upgrade on 60k vehicles. You made the install look easy but it might be a little out of my comfort level. I might have to find a friend to help. I’ll let you know. Also.... I need info on axles. I think I saw you had a twisted one. I’m going to regear and trying to decide if worth doing upgrades shafts. And if so, which ones. Thanks dude. Stay safe.
No worries man... I always encourage people to do their own work... but ever push it 😂 Sadly the market for this part will continue to be lacking... every company we called... all said there is no immediate plans on producing the ball joints.. from past experiences... dana has lousy customer service... they just refer u to whoever sold them to u... 😂
Great video! Think I will just change mine preemptively as I am running larger tires as well. Just wondering how many miles are on the Jeep and what tire size? And that is a dana 44 correct?
We have 2 jl’s on the channel.. this one in this video.. is our sport.. also sport axles. Our rubicon is still on stock ball joints.. though I’m wanting to change them out also... the sport gets driven twice as much.
I’d recommend carli ball joints ......super beefy ....American made ....and a fast lifetime replacement..... meaning you call them .....you get your ball joint then send the damaged ones back ....they are that good and worth every penny....driving with a bad ball joint can get you dead quick if they fail at the wrong time or place... just my two cents
Yes, ur not the first person to have this problem... I suggest tightening the top up to hold it in place before u start torquing it per spec... Tht make sense?
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD got it, there's currently a gap between the spacer and steering knuckle. I'll have to redo the torque. Thanks for the quick reply and for doing what you do!
Does ur jeep have the fad? (Front axle disconnect??) if u do... u have the crappy ball joints. Dynatrac just finished theirs.. HUGE upgrade over these dana parts
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD Thanks, yeah if my steering gets any looser I may have to upgrade. Mine is a tiny bit sloppy so I can live with it for now. Knocked it outa the park again ! I see those MTR’s in there , yea buddy ! Dumb question: on greasable ball joints, u joints and steering linkages, If they are sealed, why is periodic greasing required ? Does it leak out past the seals over time ? Thanks again !
As the ball joints and TRE flex offroading... it will force out grease out of the boot. another’s reason its only a matter of time before the joint starts getting dust.. dirt and other foreign bodies in it... adding new grease helps push those out of joint... prolonging the life of the joint. Make sense? Lol it’s early. And I’m drinking coffee.... if not just respond with. ?...... I’ll do a better job
My rotor retaining bolt is on there good! I stripped the bolt and now I can’t get it out. Anybody else have this happen? Do you think I could take a torch to them and then use a screw remover bit? I used some antisieze spray and they still don’t come out! Ugh! I had to put everything back together, order spares and now I need to wait for those to come in before I either weld a bolt on top of try torching... any advice appreciated!
Not a fun task for sure… 😬 u have the right idea… heat… anti seize and spot welding a bolt on. U can always try sticking a larger torx head in it as well
What happens if they were installed with the top one on bottom and the bottom one on top? That’s how my shop installed em. Will there be any Ill effects?
Hmmm..... My biggest concern would be the zerk fittings clearing the drive shaft... u may be able to swap em if u do have issues... I’m pretty sure the size of top and bottom (ball joints) are the same 🤔
They have held up. But I recommend going with the dynatrac ball joints… rebuildable and you can grease it from the side… meaning you don’t have to pull an axle shaft to grease the lower one
we can't stop my jeep wandering to the right have had many shops try everything. they say i need to put a adjustable ball joint on ones side to get it to drive straight what do you think ? i have a 2018 JL with only 12,000 miles on it and i have the 2 inch mopar lift with 37 cooper sst pro tires. should i do a adjustable track bar first ot do what everyone is telling and go with a adjustable ball joint ?

Another thing, Dana should know Wrangler owners hit the trails, add weight to their jeeps and just overall have fun so yes they should’ve done a bit more research. O well, hopefully the other company’s come out with some better ones.
I will take your advise with the safety check that if I’m jacking up the Jeep to rest it on the jack stands and not let the jack still be the primary holder. I’ve been under my Jeep enough and other vehicles and fortunately haven’t had the vehicle come down on me.
Awesome video as always!
Oh, dana knew... they just didn’t care... dynatrac should be releasing some badass ball joints here soon... I was emailing them about em.. they said they were ready to sell... I told em I wanted to buy a set.. they stopped replying to me..., 😂😂😂
Dude, getting my knuckle to separate from the lower ball joint was a huge PITA. When I put the axle in it was easy..this time not so much. I have some Dynatrac's going in!
Tht lower one can be difficult... if the dead blow ain’t working, I’d recommend using a pry bar under the upper knuckle while hammering it still...
And them dynatracs are much nicer then these dana ones... wish they were available when I did mine
Thanks for the video you guys are great
You are welcome! And thank you for always watching! 🙌
Awesome, good job! Super helpful! You two are giving me the courage to tackle this myself. When you sign off... and end it.... you should the run out the video with the "putting everything back together" for the other kind of people who cant work in reverse". :-)
You can do it! Just take ur time and do one step at a time!!! 😂🙌🙌🙌
I’d watch a video 10 times before I even started tearing into a project I was unfamiliar with.
The decision to not include it was more so a youtube analytic issue...
Great video. I replaced ball joints on my TJ myself. When it comes time to swap my JL ball joints, It's going to the shop. Western Drive Train in Denver only charges $200 for labor for both sides. No brainer.
😂 the labor is not hard with this... but totally understand what u mean! Just make sure it’s the upgraded ball joints!
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD I'm hoping that Synergy will come out with some beefy ones.
Bob Steger well... these ones were hella better then the stock ones... granted... only had em in a week! But happy not to have deathwobble any more
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD In my humble opinion I think the manufacturers are really slow in getting out product for the JL's. The ones you installed are night and day different from stock. And even more important, a happy wife.
Like u said.. happy wife... just saying... synergy didn’t help me out here 😂😂😂 we had been holding out for theirs.. but it just kept getting pushed back...
Dude great video, so when you replace your axles you should maybe go with RCV performance Axles. One time replacement. Don't worrie about the jackstands, at least you had some.
We actually have plans to upgrade her to dana 44s hopefully this year... we have some chromos to replace them... see how them hold up... we do have rcv in my jeep...
Thanks for watching! 🙌
Hey awesome video ! Very thorough ! , what grease gun attachment is that , thanks
Dammit! Ur right... should of talked about that a little more. Well here is the link to what I used

Thanks for watching Sean! Appreciate the support!
JL LIFE OFFROAD awesome thanks !
sean glad to help! 🙌🙌🙌
Synergy makes replacement heavy duty ball joints for the JL
I try to avoid synergy …. I’d recommend dynatrac or those American ironwork ball joint deletes
Enjoyed this vid. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Glad to hear it! Thank you for watching!
Great Video, Thank You! Keep 'em coming and Stay Healthy!
Thank you! And will do!
Thanks for spending the time watching! 🙌
Love your shirt. I vote for you next campaign even if from Canada. Pizza is universal anyways!!
😂 I’m for pizza on every family’s pizza.... and beer 🙌😂
I saw a video where the ball joints with Synergy Ball Joints. I think the video was through Exodus at least that’s what I can remember of their video channel.
Those were for a jk.. I know the video ur talking about.. synergy has been saying they gonna release their jl BJ since October.... 🤷♂️ dynatrac says they are close to releasing a their set... I’m really wanting those for the other jeep
JL LIFE OFFROAD I purchased a 2018 jl here a few months back. It’s the unlimited sport wrangler.
I hope u love it as much as I do! 🙌
JL LIFE OFFROAD absolutely, will love it even more when I am able to modify
Thts a true statement 😂
did that maddox press come with the cups needed, or did you have to buy the add on cup kit?
Can I take my jk to yall so you can help.. yall are just right up the road from me lol. I'm in the south valley! Keep up the good work!
You do need to remove the axle in order to press in the ball joints… the shaft will be in the way
Nice. Glad my Ultimate 44 came with those ball joints. We’ll see how long they last.
Should of been the part from factory for all the axles on the JL
JL LIFE OFFROAD Any idea on the size of the little zerk screw? Just noticed I am missing one!
Also what grease gun fitting is that?
LockNLube Narrow Needle Dispenser www.amazon.com/dp/B0779FK9CZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_fm2JEbJRHSFVY
As far as the size of the zerk fitting.. in sorry friend... I don’t have tht information for u... Iv failed 😭
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD Thanks! Haha no it's alright. Dana spicer aftermarket customer support line did not know either. Told me their Ball joints are made by another company, his diagram does not go into enough detail to see the zerk size and wouldn't give me the company's number. In fact, all he suggested I do was buy new ball joints. Then he hung up on me.
So I just ordered an assortment pack size
Wow... Thts pretty bad... I called them about my tone ring not being pressed on correctly. They told me return it through the company I bought it from....
I ended up pressing it myself... but was surprised at their customer service
Nice video guys , very well filmed and put together , did u know before that you had a twisted shaft?
Nope, I mean.. not surprised... we got chromos we need to put in... see how those hold up before we upgrade her axles...
Thanks for watching brother.. appreciate you! Your support! And ur time!
JL LIFE OFFROAD nice , are u saapping the axles on heathen? You said long time ago u got 44s off a rubi
We have a line on a set of jt axles... mistys tryna figure out if she wants to build those or get something else.
JL LIFE OFFROAD before i found my axles i saw some jt rubi axles but the rear needs modification because of the different brackets , the front bolt right up.
Synergy adjustable is the way to go
U mean the ones that are still not available?
Does the 2020 JLUR have the upgraded ball joints stock??
No, I’m hoping fca mans up and orders the change in the axle... but as of right now... they have not
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD thx for taking the time to answer man
Embark Wholesale absolutely, the least I can do after u spent ur time to watch the video! Soooo THANK YOU!
I put these in back in 21 of December. And after the rubicon trail. They need to be replaced again. Huh. What's your thoughts of the delet kit from American iron 🤔
Actually what I plan on swapping in after I get my money out of these lol
Another awesome install video! Great Job guys!Subscribed to Napalm JL lol 😂 just because reminds me of Napalm Death that i used to listened to back highschool 90’s. Anyways i will check them out :)
Thanks buddy! We were super happy to finally get a set of quality ball joints in! Misty has been needing some since October! 😂
He doing great on his channel! U will enjoy! Hope u doing well my friend
Interesting Mr. Mo. I've had death wobble start out of nowhere. I've checked everything. now you have me wondering.
I always encourage people to do their own work... but ever push it 😂
Sadly the market for this part will continue to be lacking... every company we called... all said there is no immediate plans on producing the ball joints.. from past experiences... dana has lousy customer service... they just refer u to whoever sold them to u... 😂
Can you give a update on the new ball joints
So far, no issues. I will say this... dynatrac makes a better quality ball joint for the JL. But it’s a little more expensive
So Mo, now 4 years later how did these joints hold up for Misty and would you buy them again? Thanks for your reply
Dana ball joints are junk. We have swapped in dynatrac.
The stem on the new Dana’s snapped clean off
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD thanks so much! We get so much from your videos thanks for responding
Haven't been watching your vids so I apologize... are those rubicon axles? disregard, I see 'sport' in the details.
😂🙌 it’s all good my friend...
Very informative! Just what I was looking for. Now I just need more tools lol
Awesome! Tools are always a great investment!
How have these upgraded ball joints held up for you guys?
Haven’t had to replace em yet. But was also the only option available when I needed to replace…
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD I’ve been looking at the Teraflex ones for the Gladdy.
I want to buy the steel knuckles from Reid and slap In some ball joint deletes or dynatrac BJs
How do you know??
Iv worked on JKs... 🤙🤙🤙 😂😂😂😂
JL's Jk beso I used tiny tools to pull the part out of the unit bearing! 🤣
You guys would be handy to have around👍👍😁😁
😂😂😂
Mo, where you bought that shirt! I want one please
I’m not to sure? Misty bought for my birthday 1 year.
Not a JL owner...but I have a JK. Still all good info!! 👍
Lol! Thanks! Who knows... maybe one day u will end up with a jl 😂😂 Burbank even if you don’t... thanks for watching my friend! Means a lot!!!
How are those ball joints holding up? My Dana upgraded ball joints have weakend within 2 months! What to do....
They are holding up fine... when these go out... I’m gonna install a ball joint eliminator kit.
Dynatrac has the best ball joints for the jl right now
What size socket for the ball joint castle nuts, you skipped that one in the video
🤔 should be a 22
I’d recommend carli ball joints ......super beefy ....American made ....and a fast lifetime replacement..... meaning you call them .....you get your ball joint then send the damaged ones back ....they are that good and worth every penny....driving with a bad ball joint can get you dead quick if they fail at the wrong time or place... just my two cents
Do they have them for the JL? I know literally nobody had them when I put these in
Does the steering knuckle spacer on top ball joint sit flush on bottom after you torque the top ball joint?
Yes, ur not the first person to have this problem...
I suggest tightening the top up to hold it in place before u start torquing it per spec... Tht make sense?
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD got it, there's currently a gap between the spacer and steering knuckle. I'll have to redo the torque. Thanks for the quick reply and for doing what you do!
🙌🙌🙌
Do you know if the 2020 JL still has the plastic part ball joints?
Does ur jeep have the fad? (Front axle disconnect??) if u do... u have the crappy ball joints. Dynatrac just finished theirs.. HUGE upgrade over these dana parts
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD Thanks, yeah if my steering gets any looser I may have to upgrade. Mine is a tiny bit sloppy so I can live with it for now. I drove a new 2019 that was so loose it was like driving a 1960 truck with the big steering wheel and no power steering. Shame on FCA for putting out such bad steering.
Yea... they dropped the ball with a bit in the steering.. 😬😬😬
Perfect ! Thanks for answering, seems you try to reply to everyone. That’s really cool.
I do my best 😂😂 least I can do for every one who invest their time into our channel!
U can always try sticking a larger torx head in it as well
Finally a new video haha
Lol. Yea. SRRY it was late this week. It’s been busy this week 🙌😂
What happens if they were installed with the top one on bottom and the bottom one on top? That’s how my shop installed em. Will there be any Ill effects?
Hmmm..... My biggest concern would be the zerk fittings clearing the drive shaft... u may be able to swap em if u do have issues... I’m pretty sure the size of top and bottom (ball joints) are the same 🤔
JL LIFE OFFROAD Thanks for the reply man!
Yea of course, sorry for the delay thou... Iv been wild busy lately 😬😬😬
What brand is that breaker bar that expands?
Pittsburg... harbor freight tool
Im sure someone already asked, but how have these held up thus far?
They have held up. But I recommend going with the dynatrac ball joints… rebuildable and you can grease it from the side… meaning you don’t have to pull an axle shaft to grease the lower one
What is the front torque for drag link and tire rod for jeep wrangler sport jl?
We did an install video on it... if I remember correctly... 90lbs on the TRE and 55 on the clamps
we can't stop my jeep wandering to the right have had many shops try everything. they say i need to put a adjustable ball joint on ones side to get it to drive straight what do you think ? i have a 2018 JL with only 12,000 miles on it and i have the 2 inch mopar lift with 37 cooper sst pro tires. should i do a adjustable track bar first ot do what everyone is telling and go with a adjustable ball joint ?
The stock ball joints are trashy... but there are currently no adjustable BJ for the JL... if u are wondering... it’s likely ur alignment is wonky... have they shown u the alignment print out sheet?? Thts where I would start... (after making sure everything was right)
@@JLLIFEOFFROAD yes we have had very good alignment shops do good alignments and give me print outs. I was told the alignment was spot on and there's a problem else where
What steering do U have in the jeep?
I’d like to see ur print out...
Jllifeoffroad@gmail.com
Not saying ur ball joints are fine... but I’m teling u there are no currently adjustable ball joints to add camber...
Also lift info?
