    I have planted several yards. And for the most part I've gotten away quite well without ever turning on a sprinkler. So yes you can get away without watering if you plant your seed the right time of year

    Hey Pete, bought some of your seed and planted it last Wednesday. Got about a inch and a half of easy rain Friday-Monday. Tuesday morning in Northwest Ohio I have grass seed coming up after 6 days! Gonna go over it at quarter rate just to make sure nothing got washed away. Awesome seed and service from GCI. Thanks again Pete!

    I am here in NE GA near the SC line. The builder of our home laid the yard 1/3 sod, 2/3 seed. I water by hand 3-4x a day, takes about 1.5hrs each watering. Dirt is bone dry before each watering. I have a traveling sprinkler coming. Maybe that will help as I can water more often.

    I was reading reviews last night on the Tractor Supply Co Ultra Premium Fescue seed I bought and lots of people complained about it not coming up. Some of the complainers showed pictures of the results. The land was as parched, cracked and dry as Moses old bones with nothing but crabgrass everywhere. I couldn't help but laugh.
    Right now I'm stopped dead in the middle of progress thanks to Hurricane Gordon. Started raining Friday night here in SE Indiana and hasn't stopped yet. My whole yard is under water.
    Looks like Ryan Knorr sent me his storm. Lol.

    Pete, great video and great series of videos too! However, I hope you are not done yet and that you will show the progess and success of the germination of this test plot of KBG. I also hope that the hurricane headed your way will not wash out all your efforts here and on all the other projects that you are working on. Stay safe in those impending storms, Pete.
    Pete, I am considering buying some of your TTTF grass seed from you. I am wondering, though, what is the shelf life of your grass seed? If I do not use all of the seed that I buy, how long will that seed still be good for if I were to try to plant it later on?
    Thanks again for a great video series, Pete, and much success with this test plot.

    Can't wait to lay some seed, I got Johnathan Greene Black Beauty tall fescue blend. In hindsight I should have saved up enough to rent the rototiller BEFORE buying topsoil, milorganite, lime and Scott's pre-emergent top soil and seed. A little backwards I suppose but September isn't a bad time to start a cool season lawn right?

    One of the largest factors I see you talking about is the Micro Climate. Yards on opposite sides of the street can be different in my area because of sun exposure and at what times of the day. Something for folks to think about when planting a variety that they’d love to have. I have Bermuda and a guy across the street from me has fescue bc he gets the afternoon shade from a large tree on my side of the street. #getyourmicroclimateright

    Thanks Pete! I renovated my lawn and seeded fescue last week. It's coming up pretty good its maybe an inch tall in the tallest spots and barely poking through in spots. It's rained so much this weekend I've had some seeds wash down the street along with peat moss. The yard is soggy and its still raining. I'm not sure how much it will hurt. I may have to do an overseed when it dries out. Do you think the grass that's already growing will die with all of this rain?

    Pete, I have a question. I renovated last Monday. Seed started to germinate in most areas. Now tropical storm Gordon is here all day and there are huge puddles in my renovated lawn. Should I just reseed those areas after the storm passes? I had covered with peatmoss originally. Do I rake lightly, seed and recover? HELP please

    • @GCITurf
      @GCITurf  6 лет назад +2

      this is how I approach this. stop watering for now. let it dry out just a little. take a leaf rake and lightly rake over the yard to smooth out any bumpy areas. If you can visually see where seed is GONE then fix those areas. I would take the chance and wait a little to see what germinates. Once you see sprouts coming up you can then make the call to put down some more seed. Use garden weasel and work the new seed into the dirt. Start watering again right before you notice the ground starting to dry out

      @mikemalnar5095 6 лет назад

      @@GCITurf Ok I will see how it looks after drying up. I have decent germination except where the major puddles are. I think a lighter rain early last week might have moved some seed. Is it ok to walk on the newly germinated seeds?
