The only one I have a lot harder time with than you is Horseman, which I think is the hardest villain in that box. What's your favorite villain? I really love Magneto and Project Wideawake.
Horsemen are definitely a challenge! It could be playstyle dependent as I’ve never played them without flipping extensively which really mitigates a lot of what they do. Favorite villain is Venom Goblin. I’ve been really enjoying Apocalypse I as of late though. Magneto used to be a favorite of mine but there was a stretch especially in multiplayer where his magnet counters got on my nerves! 🤣
I feel like Spiral is harder than C tier. Though, maybe I haven't played against her enough. I almost strictly play multiplayer. I feel like unless you have a stun/confuse lock, with multiplayer she just disappears so quickly and it's hard to divide attention between damage and managing threat on the main before she disappears. Also you can get really unlucky when trying to find her cornered card in the deck (while threat mounts on the main), and have to spend a bunch of threat removal just to make her appear. I probably just need to time things better or like Ebony Maw, focus more on stun/confuse lock characters/builds to gun her down when she's cornered. That said, I don't like to build/pick characters to counter a scenario.
Good points. Maybe i underrated Spiral a bit? I’ve never had trouble with her across different player counts but can see what you’re saying about the window to damage her and remove threat.
I personally would put nebula in a tier above s tier. I will gladly play standard 2 expert 2 Ronan or venom goblin. I’ll deck build for the challenge (usually multihanded instead of true solo) and see if my decks are up to the task. It’s fun to do every so often. Nebula though… enrages me. She can just surge train to infinity and it feels completely unfair to play her, even just on regular standard and expert. Her attachments mechanic makes my blood boil. Btw, who would you say is the ‘stock standard’ villain in this game? Who’s the one who comes closest to being the basic villain closest to the core of what a villain is? IMO, it’s mutagen formula, although I can see an argument for klaw. I don’t see it as rhino, since he has no boost effects and he has a disproportionately high attack and low scheme threshold.
I can see your point for Nebula, I also would rather play Ronan/VG than her. She really is the worst with her variance and potential to surge. I also agree with Mutagen Formula being the stock standard villain. Thanos epitomizes a lot of how a basic game of Champions plays out so I also like introducing new players to him, but the Infinity Gauntlet definitely breaks him away from being “normal”. I also agree Rhino is not a good deck tester because of the low threat threshold and no boost effects. Klaw to me has too much variance in his attacks getting 2 boosts and too much encounter deck milling -> acceleration tokens to be a “stock standard” villain.
Globally agree with the entire list... My only real complaint is not against Wrecking Crew that I thematically understand (evasion from prison, so no modulars, no nemesis, no obligations) but against Risky Business. Nice concept, poor execution. Alter ego until built all supports and upgrades then a brutal rush against Goblin. Thanks for the video!
im surprised Mr Sinister is that high, but I can see why. Nebula and Collector should be A though. It feels like relying on partly luck to win against them. Thanos and Juggernaut for example at least gives you info on what they're gonna do next. So I dont see losing to them because of being unlucky
I agree that Nebula/Collector I are very lucky reliant, but I’ve consistently been able to take them down in sub 10 minute games on the channel in expert mode which makes them feel anticlimactic and not really a challenge. I can definitely see these 2 higher, but considering multiplayer and standard I think theyre less swingy than their true solo expert counterparts! Can definitely see some games of theirs being more difficult than villains I ranked overall more difficult though
Thanks for the great video! Personally, I would rank 4 riders higher. I really had trouble winning with several heroes in true solo (Bishop, Captain America ans SpiderMan). Finally had success with Dr. Strange Pool. Win ratio: 1 of 6
Great job as always ! What’s your go to villain when you want to test a deck ? Could you advise 1 for standard solo & 1 for expert solo ? I am mostly using Klaw standard to test decks.
Thanks Max! My go to for testing a new deck/hero is Expert Venom Goblin because I want to try a hero’s max potential. I would recommend Mutagen Formula for standard deck testing and Thanos for expert deck testing. Mutagen Formula on Standard has simple mechanics. I’m not the biggest fan of Klaw because he can mill the deck and sometimes i get an acceleration in 3 rounds and he has high variance for attack activations getting 2 boost cards. Thanos is a difficult well rounded challenge for expert with strong minions and otherwise a straightforward kit!
I’m not sure how to send a photo through RUclips, so here’s a link to my Reddit post that has a copy of the image: www.reddit.com/r/marvelchampionslcg/comments/1d6gkbu/villains_tier_list_2024_up_to_age_of_apocalypse/? Hope that suffices!
Dang, yesterday I was all sorts of out of it. This is a power ranking, not a favorite villain tier list I usually see on youtube! That's why I instantly assumed it was one of those. This makes a lot more sense now. Sorry I made you a bit confused. If I just look at the tiers themselves, I completely agree. Maybe put Spiral in B, I had some rough games with her, her swords are annoying and I can't thwart the main while she's hidden. But I understand why you put her in C. If there's a ranking between the tiers themselves too, then I'd change a few things, but overall nothing super major. Seems like we have a similar enough experience of the villains so far.
It’s all good man! Honestly Nebula and Collector I are the 2 villains most people have higher anyways so i didn’t think anything of it. I only put them in B because of their variance but I’ve definitely had tough games with those 2. Spiral i was thinking about you when I was evaluating her. I probably need to play her more but i think we’ve just been bringing the most suitable decks against her hence why I’ve always had an easier time with her. I can see her being in B though, those swords are pretty impossible!
@@webwarriorfanatic Collector I seems honestly fine in high B tier. I feel like pretty much every villain you put higher is harder than him, except for maybe Kang, but I can see him being there too. The thing about Collector I is that in a campaign setting he's both extremely not fun and overtoned. Outside of campaign he's manageable as long you know how he works and build against him specifically, but still extremely not fun. Sentinel is basically a very similar, much more fun and balanced, but still challenging scenario. I don't think outside campaign Collector I that hard, he's just very annoying to play against. I have a similar opinion on Nebula. In expert campaign, she's extremely challenging. Outside of that, it's kinda random how difficult she is. Again, except for maybe Kang, everyone you put higher than her I also feel like it's harder. Sabertooth for example heals way too much and has way too many activations, he has some nasty cards too and you have to pay attention to Robert Kelly, so I feel like he's slightly harder. Yeah, I've had some rough games with Spiral, no matter if I played in solo, 2 or 3 players. I honestly wouldn't put her higher than the Brotherhood though and you put them only a few places above her. I like her though, but the RNG wasn't always in my favor, especially when she got those swords. The only other small nitpick I could say is that both of the Apocalypse scenarios I feel like are definitely harder than Zola or even Mister Sinister. As long you can deal with the minions, Zola barely can do much, though the minions can easily get out of control in solo. Mister Sinister can be argued because of how insanely low treshold the main schemes are and how much threat you have to deal with each turn. Not to mention his upgrades are very nasty. But again, very small nitpick, I can see both sides. Very nice list overall, it's as close to my own experience as you can probably get!
@@Kazuchi35 awesome! Good to hear haha. Yea the way you view Nebula and Collector I are the exact same as how i see them hence the high B but I’ve gotten a lot of pushback on them. I really think Apocalypse I is an amazingly difficult scenario and on expert he’s a top 5 difficult villain for me. But considering him on standard i feel he drops off quite a bit adding a whole extra main scheme and weaker stats.
Would you say that B tier villains are good deck testers? Or, what villains do you actually use as generic deck testers? As of late i find that unus is great for that, while before i would have gone to Mutagen Formula or Cross bones , and Klaw before that
I think you could have different deck testers depending on what you’re testing the deck for. I agree that Mutagen Formula and Klaw are good deck testers and have used them both before. Currently, my big 2 deck testers are Thanos and Venom Goblin. If it can handle expert Venom Goblin, that gives me a good reference point for that specific hero/deck.
Great video really helpful. Haven’t played all the villains yet so this makes it easier to match my level to the villain difficulty. I have a question: you mention having to gun down villains quickly - do you have a favourite hero(s) and deck(s)that you would recommend if you need to do that?
Rush isn’t my favorite way to play so i don’t do it too often, but I like Ghost-Spider aggression or Miles Morales aggression when trying to quickly gun a villain down. I’m really glad this video is helpful for you :)
The most annoying thing about Spiral is their swords. If you have both swords attached to her, the damage is insanely high and it's hard to get rid of these counters. Because of this and what 8836 said spiral for me is a B tear. Nice Video ❤

I appreciate your content, but: Mixing standard/expert and solo/multiplayer just doesn't work for a tier list. Reasonable averages cannot be objectively estimated.
