Congratulations for the 900 subs! I love watching your videos, you are my favorite RUclipsr and you always make my day. You are doing a great job man, 1k is even closer now and you deserve it.
Thanks Rod! Your nice comments always make my day so the feeling is mutual. Appreciate you a lot, we are so close 😆
Awesome video! Love your content. Expert villain tier list is great because a lot of villains are vastly different from standard to expert. I appreciate your inputs on each villain and how they play. Keep up the good work!
Thank you man! Appreciate your comments and glad this is useful to you :)
I love your contents! Watched all your videos and love it
Thanks a lot Sasuke! Makes me really happy hearing that :)
Great video. I’ve always appreciated how clear your explanations are. Good luck as you balance family, work, and growing your channel.
Much appreciated. Thank you! I’m very glad you enjoy my videos and God bless you in your endeavors as well :)
Congratulations for the 900 subscribers! Well deserved! I admint that I never tried "expert" in over than 300 games played, last months started playing Standard II. Anyway, from what I see on your videos and other RUclipsrs, generally agree. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Oreste! Much appreciated. I’m dreading standard II! How is it treating you so far?
@@webwarriorfanatic Noticed that my win/loss ratio decreased with standard II in true solo even against Rhino or Klaw. More surge, more boost icons.
@@OresteGamba oh yea I can see that. I’ve only done standard II in multiplayer and it’s a lot more forgiving because 1 extra surge isn’t as punishment because friends can block, thwart side schemes, attack minions, etc.
@@webwarriorfanatic Same. Even 2 handed solo is another music. All is less swingy, but require more time. When I try new heroes, I go true solo for focus on the new hero.
905th subscriber here. Pretty soon we'll be 1000!
Your content is great. Congrats!
BTW, I mostly agree with your list, but I don't think Tower Defense is the easiest scenario. I'd put it at top of the D tier.
Thanks a lot!! A new member of our community is always welcomed :)
Which scenario do you have as the easiest?
@@webwarriorfanatic Absorbing Man or Morlock Siege (actually I find On the Run more "difficult" than Morlock Siege).
Anyway, I feel frustrating how easy is Stryfe for an end of campaign boss.
@@monoludico6166 i can see that! Yea Stryfe didn’t feel like an epic boss fight
Seeing all these scenarios makes me realize just how many we have but for whatever reason I still feel like we need MORE! Haha. End of this month is going to be fuuunnn!
Almost all of these villains already existed when I found this game so not much of a realization factor for me. But I’m super excited for Age of Apocalypse too! Hoping these new scenarios will mix up this list 😁
Love the videos man ! Keep it up !
One question; Do you normally play with the recommended Encounter sets ?
Thank you 🙏
And yea! I’ve only played with recommended sets so far. Definitely want to switch it up in the future but I want to try every hero first to get a reference point.
I think I commented on Facebook about thinking Magneto is S-tier, but I could understand him being a little below (he’s like, A+ tier). I will say the balance in solo is that he does stymie an approach that is often strong in solo games of not allowing you to rush him because of the side schemes. He has so many answers to every deck archetype. I think Magneto is as brutal often as the S-tier villains but it doesn’t feel as bad because no matter how tough he is, he still feels fair. For me, Magneto is far and away the best villain design they’ve ever done in this game, it’s always an amazing epic experience, but whenever it’s done I’m like, “I could play him again right away and still have a blast”, which I can’t say for like, Ronan or Loki.
I think Venom Goblin is the actual hardest on expert, he’s brutal and those encounter cards come flying at you out of the gate. His deck is full of nastiness, and the glider counter is an interesting mini game of trying to control what you can deal with best at the moment. While he’s the hardest I think he’s actually a really interesting scenario. I usually play on expert, but for a fun game that’s still tough, I find standard Venom Goblin to be a great scenario, I think on standard he’s one of the most fun villains to fight.
Ronan obviously is Ronan, it’s just kind of a broken scenario. Either you kill him quick or he kills you quick, can’t say I’ve ever had a long drawn out struggle. “Did he draw Fanaticism?” “Did he immediately redraw his Hammer?” It’s just not a great design, but it does feel good to beat him.
I always put it like this: Venom Goblin is the hardest, Ronan is the most unfair, Loki is the most annoying, and Magneto is the best
Hey Stephen! I really like that summary of those villains. I completely agree with how you characterized them… except Ronan! I’ve had mostly drawn out battles with Ronan and I think he is controllable, but he ramps up so easily he can overtake the game if I’m not set up properly (see my Strange vs. Ronan loss). He’s definitely unfair, but not as much as Nebula I guess is what I’m saying 🤣
Thanks for your input! It was cool to read your perspective.
@@webwarriorfanatic I think of Nebula as more swingy/random than unfair. Another important thing for Ronan is the Kree Militants modular set can really swing the game, get a bad draw with them and you can pretty easily get locked out long enough to lose. The amount of games I’ve lost to “okay, I’m in stage 2 so I can’t remove threat unless I get the Power Stone off Ronan, so I have to attack him, but there’s a 7 HP Guard minion I have to deal with first, and after I get the Power Stone there’s still a 6 health Patrol minion….”
@@stephenball2108 True! And that's Ronan hahaha. He has so many nasty combos in his encounter deck and you named them. His Superior Tactics side scheme (Power Stone cannot be unattached from Ronan) adds on even more. You'd have to clear Superior Tactics, defeat Kree Lieutenant, deal 3 damage to Ronan, defeat Kree Commando, then finally be allowed to thwart the main scheme stage 2b...
Thanks for the rankings… always nice to hear your clear and concise opinions. I don’t play a huge amount of true solo, so won’t comment too much on where I think things should be, but I did agree with the top of the list.
What I really like is how Ronan gets easier with a higher player count (which I certainly find myself). So get all the Guardians of the Galaxy together to take him down.
And in the same way Venom Goblin is Spider-man’s problem and that he would often be better to face him on his own.
The game design is so good!
Thanks Dan!
I never thought about it like that. That is really thematic and cool hahaha. I wonder if the developers intended it to be that way especially the Spidey handling his own problem with Venom Goblin 🤔
Congrats on 900! I've only watched a handful of your videos so far, but I'm really enjoying your output, so cheers!
Now for the most important debate of the night, I think On the Run is C tier, definitely harder than Morlock Siege. I've lost to the former a coupe of times, it can give you decent pressure, whereas siege always felt basically impossible to lose to, maybe the easiest scenario in the whole game.
Granted I also lost to Norman Osborn with a good deck that could relatively comfortably handle Ronan, so I shouldn't be trusted (protection X-23, got impatient and went on the offensive too early).
Thank you!!! I’m glad you’re liking my content :)
Your experience is totally valid, actually a lot of people shared that same opinion so maybe I’m rating On the Run a bit too low 😅
Nice video! I do enjoy playing Kang but he is easier to game in solo. Basically, just use stage 2 to build up a little bit then lose to threat, that way you start your turn attacking your nemesis and Kang on the final stage instead of the other way around. That's why I rank him at "C". I agree about Mystique, she bumps every scenario up another difficulty level you put her in.
Thank you! I totally agree. The hardest thing about Kang imo is his alter-ego obligations, but if you’re playing a deck that can flip a lot it’s usually no issue. Mystique is the worst 🤢
Hey Web-Warrior,
i like your videos (and reddit-posts) a lot 🙂
Nebula as a villain can be so frustrating 😕
But on the other hand, there are so many fun scenarios like Taksmaster, Mutagen Formula or Venom. And if someone wants to play Venom Goblin, which is a VERY thematic and fun scenario, a bit easier, take out the modular with the glider and replace it with another one.
Thanks Vincent! I appreciate that a lot 🙏
I totally agree with what you said. Taking out Goblin Gear definitely makes Venom Goblin an easier and more manageable experience 👌🏻
i have a massive pet peeve against tier lists done alphabetically rather than by release order, so the fact that i watched the whole thing says a lot about the video🙃
Hahaha I didn’t know that’s the preferred order! Ill rearrange the next tier list that way :) and thank you 🙏
@@webwarriorfanatic might just be me, but it feels more organized and thematic to do them by release/expansion order
@@rickmel09 no i agree. In hindsight I should’ve done that haha
Oooh, can't wait to watch this one!
😁 hope you find this list entertaining and of value, Daniel!
Great video as always! It's fascinating to see different people's takes on villain difficulty, we all seem to agree on the easiest and hardest but some of the B tier villains seem to be more play style dependent. I have had terrible experiences with mutagen formula and claw for instance but have never lost to crossbones or red skull😂 was thinking of buying wrecking crew and keeping it along with Thor as my travel deck- no big deal if any cards get lost but would make for a fun slug fest.
Can't wait to see your next video
@@danielvanvuuren8075 thanks Daniel!! Yea I’m pretty surprised most people agree with the top/bottom like you said. When I first started playing, I played the heck out of Mutagen Formula and Klaw, so that could be my biased where I put them.
That sounds like a fun travel kit! Wrecking Crew is a nice short little scenario… I heard as long as you don’t play it a lot it won’t be boring :)
I do think for solo, Nebula is A tier. Especially in her expert campaign, she starts out swinging. In multiplayer outside of campaign she's a lot more managable, so overall, high B is fair. I can say pretty much the same for every hero. I could push or swap a few of them around a few places, but that's it. Nice list!
Thanks Kazuchi! Cool to hear we have similar lists. I can definitely see Nebula in low A or high B. I was factoring in if a new player faces her and they just attack her every turn, if she doesn’t get techniques they just win! So it’s not that challenging of a fight in true solo SOMETIMES. I haven’t played campaign modes but have heard she’s way harder. But I agree she is very difficult if she gets those technique attachments.
Thanks for this list. Where would you slot the Age of Apocalypse villains?
They’re pretty streamlined in my opinion. Id probably put all of them between B and A tier!
59:53 did SOMEONE get the Hood?!?!? Woo
Hahaha noo I borrowed it 😅
Definitely plan to tho. Age of Apocalypse just takes priority :)
So this is clearly for Solo, Expert and using the default modular sets but is it for tailored decks? :) It's a lot of stuff wow. I of course broadly agree.
There are loads of the newer (mutant) scenarios that I have not really played enough to formulate an opinion on and some of those and plenty of earlier ones I did not enjoy enough to bother trying to play more. I've not got strong opinions on anything you rank above Ultron though Magneto seems fun enough to play more. They are all sure tough - Mojo might be the hardest for me as I hate rushing and I am unwilling to change my playstyle to deal with them. Based on my typical decks Zola is the hardest of the next tier of villains. He can generate a lot of beefy minions while Ultron doesn't swarm that much in solo, although I played Spider UK against him turn one the other day & he killed 12+ drones & finished off Ultron. Zola doesn't scale so he gets easier in MP while, Ultron has a lot of cards that affect every player so presumably scales quite hard, the difference I find interesting as usually 2 player is easier.
I haven't found Red Skull or Juggernaut as difficult as they first appear. Juggernaut is a bit like someone with the Infinity Stone - it's like a tax you have to pay every few turns that mostly slows you down. Of course I'm quite likely to have some control cards in any given deck and not to be completely relying on chumping which will make him easier. Red Skull's side schemes can be quite helpful, there is a good bit of variance there but they are mostly another tax with rebates.
Sandman is another one I find really easy - like Rhino with 2 extra on his main scheme so you are very unlikely to threat out by accidental Advance.
Hela, Kang, Ebony Maw & Taskmaster I find easier than you have put them and Nebula, Collector 1 and Sabretooth I struggle with. What you said about Nebula is spot on. It sort of applies to everyone, Under Fire into Shadows of the past can spoil your afternoon, but some villains seem to be very streaky. Ebony Maw is one, Mysterio is another - he seems to either do nothing or make you life a shuffling hell. I did not find him at all difficult but alternating between too easy & tiresome means I am not really going to test that.
I usually play Mutagen Formula and Klaw with alternative modular sets. They work very well with them and it can tweak the difficulty a bit. They intend all those stand alone modulars they print to be used somewhere I suppose. I also play Nebula in standard.
Really good point, I guess this list is for general decks, not if you specifically tech against a specific villain. Good points all around, there’s nothing outright Id disagree with. I can see how a lot of the scenarios you mentioned can be easier depending on luck or deck. It is interesting to hear your take on Mojo. I’m not the biggest fan of rush either but I find him to be a good tempo between outright rush and forcing the player to not slowly build.
@@webwarriorfanatic I only thought of the tailored thing because I believe we both use generalist decks but they definitely influence the difficulty of the scenarios.
I should certainly try Mojo some more and some of the other cool ones - Mr Sinister & Spiral et al
@@jonathanpickles2946 haha yea I remember you really appreciated when I had OWoA as a dead card against Red Skull 🤣
And I agree. I think both Collectors for example drop in difficulty if teched for. Same for Mojo, who I can definitely see why is difficult for you if you play it in your specific playstyle.
Pardon my ignorance but what is TRUE solo? How it differs from solo? (Im new to the game)
No worries! True solo refers to playing 1 hero. Some people will play solo and 2 heroes which is referred to as “2 handed solo”
Do you sleep!?!?
Hahaha my life is a delicate balance between wife, work, & Marvel Champions :)
