My headcanon connection T&F to Tugs is that after 'Munitions', Big Mickey was fished out and basically sold as scrap, but ultimately ended up being repaired and put to work at Brendam Docks
That is ALMOST what happened to him in my headcanon, but he was still at the bottom until a ship owned by Sodor found him in the water then was brought to Sodor
I think that’s one of the reasons they didn’t have it, it may be more adult then Thomas, but having a character with a face die on screen might have been a bit much for kids.
I love Big Mickey! He's become quite the icon for connecting Thomas and TUGS! His formal reintroduction into the Thomas series on Season 21 was the best moment of Season 21, no question about it!
Such a pity that his original Tugs prop was completely shattered while being shipped to Toronto for his planned appearance in TATMR, and it had to be completely rebuilt from scratch, who no original Tugs parts
I just love the fact they made big mickey into a character in the CGI series instead of a background prop, it makes him so much more interesting. I hope he has a episode dedicated to him. Anyone else agree?
He was never supposed to have an eye mech, his face was in the same style as Lord Stinker and Jack the Grappler with stationary eyes. Why they ditched the face is still a mystery, likely along with the Fultan Ferry, Scuttlebutt Pete, etc. And like them, he had fake front windows added during the later parts of tugs which he kept into Thomas. Also things about the model I was were highlighted are some of the pre-existing details used to build him. For example, I'm pretty sure his crane arm was a mixture of a trestle bridge and an overhead station walkway. There's also a Marklin steam engine cylinder right above his head on the right side which is really odd.
I like to think that, somewhere in the Model Series and CGI Canon, Bigg City Port is located somewhere near Sodor, and when there was the munitions accident, Big Mickey did actually somewhat die and was left driving in the ocean for years when he was found and taken to the docks to be restored. I want to think that the deleted scene of Ghosts is canon and Big Mickey's face is heavily damaged, thus when he got restored, they made him a facial operation, made it a bit small and restore it the best they could, and the reason why he spent 35 years without saying a word is because he still has PTSD from that accident.

Either this was already in the works, or you REALLY liked my suggestion. Or maybe it's just you also like TUGS, and needed a segway. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more TUGS characters.
Actually his first appearance was in high tide because all the episodes of tugs were aired out of order people were saying that he died in munitions and came back in high tide but High tide actually comes before munitions because in munitions, they mention the collapse of the bridge and the mention of the steel contract
Still would be cool if big Mikey was voiced by David horwitz (I may have misspelt the name but he played invader zim) because he would sound like the og tugs voice
How about butch or however you spell his name. He didn’t have a face in the older version of Thomas and friends but in the CGI version he does. But his name did get mentioned in the older versions

major probs to you for making this work no joke seriously i play detective games and study old trail and mystery cases/investigate for fun and even i was impressed
Ok here is an idea, you should do a video on the history and the making of the model sets for the show as I don't think may people know lots about that. I don't even know if it is one big layout or lots of little location. I think it would be a good vid
You should make videos talking about the history of Henrietta, Harold, Salty, Harvey, Arthur, Derek, Rocky, Toad, Elizabeth, Bulgy, Caroline, Butch, Fearless Freddie, the breakdown train, and the rest of the members from Jack And The Pack and their models. I definitely think that all of these would be very interesting to talk about.
My head cannon is years after his sinking, big Mickey was put back in bigg city port and worked there until it closed and he was shipped in 3 pieces on a ship to sodor and worked there long after that up until season 24
All for one and one for all! Hooks connect. Narrator: It took workmen a long time to untangle the cranes hooks, which cause confusion and delay at the docks.
Amazing history on big Mickey and also there are things that you made a little mistakes here and there like big Mickey didn't get a face and season 24 actually in season 21 new crane on the dock those are the only mistakes that I could find but overall pretty good history on big Mickey's model and an interesting thing is that big Mickey was from renamed big Basel in Salty's lighthouse and I don't know Tugs that much but I do remember seeing a few bits here in there where big Mickey falls into the ocean.
Since we're on the topic of the docks how about a video about the big cruise ship that brought vacationers to sodor or Salty the dock yard diesel, you haven't done a episode with him yet.
Wasn't it Season 21 that Big Mickey got his first (and only) speaking role in Thomas? Season 22 - 24 was the BWBA, which if I remember correctly he didn't say anything at all again.
Like Cranky, Big Mickey will always be here to stay too. But is now an amber yellow colour in All Engines Go. But considering that he had a megaphone like all the other faceless Tugs characters, I’m guessing Big Mickey’s voice came from his operator.
even though cgi thomas is for kids, I really wish they made his old face rather than a small truck looking face the REAL big mickey died a hero to save many tugboats's lives nothing can change the big mickey we saw in TUGS but it was nice to see him again in thomas
Not sure where I heard this but I heard that Thomas and friends when big Mickey's face was revealed they didn't quite have the right to use it. So chances are they likely are expecting a lawsuit sooner or later from it.

Wow that makes a ton of sense
I like that, I’ll adopt it
That is ALMOST what happened to him in my headcanon, but he was still at the bottom until a ship owned by Sodor found him in the water then was brought to Sodor
that's definitely something sir topham hatt would do
But that'd make the 15 minute version canon over the 20 or 30....
I adore Big Mickey, and his bravery in Munitions. Seeing him, Cranky, and Carly together as "the three musketeers" of the docks is so cool.
Correction: he actually gained his face in Season 21's New Crane On The Dock and that's also the episode where he spoke for the first time in Thomas.
I'm gonna be honest, I think having his face intact would make his death (depending on the version you're watching) more impactful.
I think that’s one of the reasons they didn’t have it, it may be more adult then Thomas, but having a character with a face die on screen might have been a bit much for kids.

I've always loved that the Canon for him not speaking was because Cranky never talked to him.
