Peter Sam has always been the most consistent throughout the series. His age neither regresses nor ages up. He’s always the same kid-like engine on his railway.
Fun fact: Edward Thomas did lose his funnel once. As the unnamed Corris No.4, had a tendency to bounce at it went along. That, coupled to the fact that it was the tallest loco on the line, just shy of loading gauge clearances, caused it to slam its funnel into a low bridge. The funnel was reattached with a pipe clamp, which I believe is on display at the Corris.
my favourite engine of all time :) loved him the most as a kid and loved him the most now, such a sweet and kind character! his unique funnel is so awesome too and I remember desperately wanting all the toys of Stuart/Peter Sam I could get!
Same. He’s my favorite narrow gauge character too. Also he sang a song to himself in Peter Sam & The Refreshment Lady “I’m Peter Sam I’m running this line! I’m Peter Sam I’m running this line!”
My favorite from the small railway always was Perer Sam. Because of his adorable nice attitude. He seems to be the nicest from all small engines and I always appreciated that as a kid and even now.
Peter Sam was always my favorite narrow gauge engine when I was younger. I loved his bright eyed enthusiasm and positivity. Then I got older, jaded and cynical and Duncan took that mantle. Still love PS though!
Great review of my favorite narrow gauge engine Peter Sam looking at the history of his model in both the classic model era and the CGI series and its really interesting to learn that the Rev W Awdry commissioned Peter Sam to the Talyllyn railway in the same year I was born my favorite episode is special funnel and I love the little song sung by the other engines 🎵 “ Peter Sam said again and again his new funnel will put ours to shame went into the tunnel lost his old funnel now his famous new funnel’s a drain”🎵 thanks for sharing this 👍❤️🚂
Skarloey has always been my favorite narrow gauge engine..his significance and status being part of the reason, another being his personality, and of course how his story affected not only us as children but also the talyllyn railway in real life
My favorite narrow gauge engine from the series is, you guessed it, either smudger or duke, for duke it would be his attitude, design, and voice as well as smudgers punishment which I was and still am fascinated with
Definitely enjoy this style much more than previous. Love the longer video run time and learning more information about characters is always an enjoyable time.
I would have to say that Peter Sam is my favorite Narrow Gauge engine, the child me anyway. I loved the episode "Trucks" and wanted to get a toy of him but never did. I got Sir Handel and Rusty instead. I still enjoy Peter Sam to this day. He had a good treatment through out the series and that is why I like to try some custom takes on him.
My favorite Narrow Gauge engines are Duncan and Duke. I always like them so Much because they had the best stories out of all the narrow gauge engines, Duncan Get’s Spooked, Dunkin Duncan, Granpuff, Sleeping Beauty, and Bulldog being my favorites
Sir Handel is one narrow gauge character i've quite like because of the funny situations he's managed to get into with his attitude, especially his road rage incident with George the Steamroller.
Proteus reminds me of two locomotives from a Roblox game, being a old Tender Engine buried by a rockslide, and a Saddle Tank that fell off a cliff, now a ghost
Same, I thought they would use Sir Handle's seeing as they used his body for Him but who knows maybe Proteus is a unique engine made of spare parts and that's why he fell off the old iron bridge due to poor running and piston lock up causing wheels to jump
Duke was always my favorite being the only narrow gauge tender engine on Sodor. But I loved his character and back story as well. Never could get enough of him. Sad he'll most likely never return.
@@allisonkrueger8330 Yes technically speaking even though he was nothing more than Duke's prop reused and we never see him again outside of that one episode. To me he was just a throw away character for the sake of the story. Plus since he doesn't run on the Skaroley railroad he's hardly even worth mentioning.
My favorite narrow guage engine would probably be Peter Sam. Along with Diesel 10 and a purple barrel car, he was one of the first ever Thomas toys (Wooden Railway specifically) that I ever got as a kid. Still have all 3, even if they have taken some damage over the years. ❤️
Peter Sam’s large scale horrified face was actually used at the beginning of The Refreshment Lady’s Tea Shop/Stand. It was pretty far away and hard too see but I saw it.
That's an amazing video! Very informative. You got a new subscriber😉 My favorite narrow gauge engines are Rheneas and Sir Handel.🚂 Could you please do a video on a location next time? Like Great Waterton. I'm sure there are some things to be said about the model era sets. Keep up the good work 😁
Yeah I definitely think the show having the Narrow Gauge engines be different colors was a good move! Sometimes they could blend together in the RWS. Same with Donald and Douglas staying painted black instead of being painted blue. Also, I’m so stoked for Bachmann Peter Sam!
Ivo is my favourite narrow gauge engine, mainly because of his TV-style Purple livery some people give him, but also I just think he had potential, but it was all wasted by only appearing on a single page of the books and never in the TV series.
I know it’s kinda basic but I kinda want to see a history video with the troublesome trucks. Also since it’s October maybe we can have another scary railroad events video.
I'm three years late answering the question, but my all time favorite narrow guage engine has been and always will be Duke. It's a shame that he only had four episodes focus on him, and they all take place when Peter Sam and Sir Handel were still named Stewart and Falcon. Side note, I think it's a crying shame that back during the 1990's when Ertl was making the die-cast metal Thomas the Tank Engine series that an Ertl of Stewart was never made and by default an Ertl of Peter Sam with his original funnel was never made either.
While not my favorite, an honorable mention goes to Sir Handel, as I relate to him on a spiritual level. Though my hatred for George is greater than how much freight Murdoch can haul. Even after two decades of existing on this planet, I still put the blame on that damn defective steamroller. Honestly, I just wanted an excuse to talk smack about my least favorite character in the franchise.
My favorite narrow gauge engines are Skarloey, Duncan, and Peter Sam. They aren’t in any order, because I love them all the same. Heck the entire narrow gauge crew besides sir handel is in my 10 favorite characters list. I’m also excited for backhmann’s Peter Sam coming soon.
My favorite narrow gauge engine is and will always be Rusty, when I was a little kid the first trackmaster engine I had was rusty. I don't have it anymore but I do have a bachmann rusty.
I wonder if Awdry got inspiration from the names of real life locomotives for naming other characters. Duncan's basis is named Douglas, Peter Sam's is Edward Thomas. I don't know if it's super obvious but I still find it cool.
My favrourite Narrow Gauge engine is Skarloey, because he is one of those old Characters that have ALOT to say in their backstories like litterely, in Four little engines, Skarloey didnt even give up for taking home the passengers, did he give up? No. He kept on going, no matter how much pain he felt, he still continued.
My favourite narrow gauge engine is and always will be Duke. I've never liked how he just kinda disappeared in the TV show even after being rediscovered.
Wow, I'm surprised that Peter Sam used all of his facial expressions! My favorite narrow-gauge character has always been Rusty, though I also love Duke. I am curious what sort of car body paint was used. Spray, or normal brush paint, or something else. I know nothing about paint. Or cars, for that matter.
I definitely prefer Peter Sam with the proper realistic funnel. Even when I was little, I noticed the difference from the books, and didn't see how a square funnel was all that interesting or special.
Personally to me my favorite and narrow gauge engine is Duke because I relate with him the most being the eldest that of all my friends and the most responsible
Peter Sam with his special funnel, Henry and Lady with their Special Coal (Welsh and Sudrian respectively). Gotta wonder what The Fat Controller's engines were getting up to.
Interesting video about Peter Sam. I'm happy in the CGI era he got one episode that being Don't Bother Victor but I wish in the following Seasons they took the time to give each of them an episode. as for my favourite Narrow Gauge Engine it kinda varies I like All the Season 4 ones and mabey some of the HIT era and CGI Characters. But my Favourite is kinda a toss up Between Sir Handel and Rheneas.
Duncan has and will be forever my favorite narrow gauge engine. George Carlin did his voice best along with Alec Baldwin. I wanna see the history of Sir Topham Hatt's car or Rusty and it's models.
Peter Sam has always been the most consistent throughout the series. His age neither regresses nor ages up. He’s always the same kid-like engine on his railway.
He's like that kid who listens in class
mhm
Correct!
Show this to Unlucky Tug, Unluckily Tug is doing a Sodor's Finest Series
what about duncan?
An unforgettable character that will always be a favorite of many like all the narrow gauge engines
yup

or it may have fallen off on it own due to the rough riding or the funnel may have been thin around the bottom part of it
@@eliotreader8220 Locomotive parts don't just fall off like that, unless something is extraordinarily wrong.
my favourite engine of all time :) loved him the most as a kid and loved him the most now, such a sweet and kind character! his unique funnel is so awesome too and I remember desperately wanting all the toys of Stuart/Peter Sam I could get!
The reason why I love Peter Sam is due to how hard he works and his chipper happy personality.
Same. He’s my favorite narrow gauge character too. Also he sang a song to himself in Peter Sam & The Refreshment Lady

I truly love these. These are great to listen to late at night to decompress. Please keep these up for all our favorite locomotives
Rheneas has always been my favorite. Hands down. Love his design, story, and his basis Dolgoch. That engine alone makes me want to start 009 Modeling
I'll second this entire post.
I like skarloey
@@West_Coast_Mainline Peter Sam all the way

Great video as always. I love Peter Sam and I hope that we find his smaller scale model soon.
And as of 2024 we have seen Peter Sam’s small scale model for the first time in several years.
Peter Sam was always my favorite narrow gauge engine when I was younger. I loved his bright eyed enthusiasm and positivity. Then I got older, jaded and cynical and Duncan took that mantle. Still love PS though!

Best Boy!
I love Peter Sam, I always loved Season 4 and special funnel and trucks! were always a joy to watch as a kid.
Duncan is my favourite narrow gauge charecter as he is hilarious at times

You failed to mention how Edward Thomas recently turned 100 years old this year
Peter Sam is my favorite narrow gauge engine
My favourite... It has to be Skarloey, old, wise intelligent... And a child at heart
Unfortunately the Hit era took that last part a bit too literally.
I wonder if Awdry got inspiration from the names of real life locomotives for naming other characters. Duncan's basis is named Douglas, Peter Sam's is Edward Thomas. I don't know if it's super obvious but I still find it cool.
I recall reading that Gordon was named after a particularly rude boy that Awdry knew when he was younger.
