"I'm a Plain Speakin Engine! And I believe in Plain Speakin! *insert Duncan's Theme here*
"Speak up and stop whispering in corners!"
trainboy pinned you? wow thats a special thing buddy good job
"I'm a plain blunt engine, I speak as I find! Tunnels should be tunnels and not rabbit holes."
@@bluebellsfan8704 "I get no rest i get no rest!"
"I have a slight accent in the American Dub!" -Asian Talyllyn Douglas, 2021
I love how it’s implied that Duncan had a swearing habit in the RWS
The Thin controller sets up a swear jar specifically for Duncan and ever dime comes out of his driver & fireman's pockets.
He's bleeding them dry.
@@brenlc1412 oh no,anyway
@@ciarandaragh8676 What?
To be fair.. He is Scottish. (And even if he wasn't in the books. It makes more sense that he is in the TV series haha)
@@brenlc1412 top gear reference
Duncan is the best character in Thomas and an ideal personality
He may be a bit strong in language but he ain’t afraid to tell the truth no matter who he hurts, but at the same time he isn’t at all stubborn, once he sure he is in the wrong he will change his opinions so quickly and suddenly you would think he never thought the other opinion, period
Edit: grammar
Who else loved how disrespectful Duncan was? 😂😂😂👍🏽👍🏽
It was ICONIC
@@ItsTrainBoy hello trainboy
DAMN right
He’s one of my favorite narrow gauge character
@@ItsTrainBoy Period!
Duncan is DEFINITELY a member of the list of Thomas characters who would swear. 🤣
It was definitely implied in the RWS books that Duncan had a swearing habit, which makes that statement even better. 😂
Gordon (only in the company of big engines)
Toby (once, when nobody was watching)
Sir Handel (casually)
Thomas (once on a dare from Percy)
Donald and Douglas (constantly, it'd be a serious problem if they weren't so aggressively Scottish)
@@gonzoengineering4894 I think Thomas would swear a lot more than the twins
@@Opthomas_Prime Book Thomas would definitely swear more than I gave him credit for, but I still think the twins have him beat.
Source: Have spoken to Scotish people.
@@gonzoengineering4894 rws and model Thomas would swear the most IMO but I agree the twins and Duncan would swear the most
Out of every character on the Skarloey Railway, Duncan was always my favorite.
Also he is my favorite character of the entire show
TV series wise Duncan is probably the best written Narrow Gauge character. He’s very unique and and has been very consistent throughout the series.
He’s always a plain speaking engine.
I mean, sure, the HIT era dumbed him down a bit, but he was DEFINITELY better than the other three engines.
No, I do not believe Sir Handel and Peter Sam were ruined. Sir Handel matured, and Peter Sam *remained* a child, like he was.
"Spooked are you Duncan?"
"Noooooo!!!! I'm asleep!"
You ever think how would Duncan would destroy anyone in a roast battle.
No just me ok
The only person that could beat him would be a mirror
My boy Duncan finally gets the spotlight!
TrainBoy: Duncans larger scale models were built to a larger scale.
Me: Fascinating...
Duncan was my favorite narrow gauge engine. He had attitude, he spoke his mind, and on top of that, he wasn't BUTCHERED like everyone else!
the fact that one of the scottish twins is named douglas and is scottish and duncans irl basis is named douglas and duncan is also scottish
As garbage as Duncan’s CGI render was, his episodes were pretty good.
Aye, "Duncan the Humbug" and "Duncan and the Grumpy Passenger" are Brenner-Skarloey gems.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Like I get it, his CGI model's terrible. But I'm at least thankful that he made it into the CGI era at all.
Dont blame the producers who made Duncan in CGI. Douglas, his basis, was under repair during production. So they couldnt measure him so they had to make his model without measurements and so thats why he isnt very identical.
I feel like cgi Duncan is kinda like a chibi version of the Andrew Barclay E class (Duncan's basis)
Duncan and Donald and Douglas are the 3 Scottish Engines.
I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL!
In all seriousness, I'm glad to see Duncan take the spotlight in one of your videos, even if it _does_ kinda move the narrow gauge characters a little out of sequence.
You: Duncan is a fictional Scottish narrow gauge engine
Douglas (talyllyn railway):EXCUSE ME?!
Now all that’s left is Peter Sam and rusty and the Narrow gauge character models are complete.
I bet they were playing rock music while making his model XD
*Snort* nice
Duncan is the engine that I enjoy the most because him and I share some of the same traits, snooty and a little bit of an ass
YESSSS DUNCAN IS MY FAVORITE ENGINE ON SODORRRR
Best TTTE character, fight me
Duncan is my favorite narrow gauge engine. His whistle was very unique, the voice done by Alec Baldwin for Duncan fit perfectly. I'm a plain speaking engine, I believe in plain speaking. Speak up!
On top of that, he wasn't BUTCHERED like everyone else!
Also his whistle is reused from Denver & Rio Grande Western 4-6-0 Narrow Gauge T-12 class No. 168.
Duncan (and Henry) has been my favourite because of the fact that he's basically a communst, but I think that he has some form of PTSD from constantly seeing slaughtered animals in that factory.
The Narrow Gauge museum is not just near the Talyllyn Railway, it is literally AT the Talyllyn Railway. It's basically the Tywyn station building and I've seen all the NG Skarloey models in person :)
Great video looking at the history of Duncan’s tv model and in the Railway books my favorite lines are “ I’m a plain speaking engine I speak as I please” and “Keep your old station I’m staying here and “No polish means no passengers” in my favorite episode passengers and polish from season four with my favorite narrator the late Michel Angelis thanks for sharing this video on the one and only rock’n roll engine Duncan👍❤️🚂
"Fancy not securing your freight cars on a hill. They'll come back to spook ya, and your special funnel. WOOOOOO!!!"
"Ghosts... Things that go bump in the night. Rubbish!"
"Haunted bridge... rubbish! It's as tame as a pet rabbit."
It’s cool that the real locomotive scraping a tunnel was the inspiration for home at last. I always liked real railway stories being inspirations for some Thomas stories, it added realism.
Duncan is the most unique engine. I like his character development and especially his Brooklyn accent. It gets me every time
Does he have a Brooklyn accent in the US dub? Because he's got a Scottish accent
Brooklyn Accent? I thought he was Scottish in both dubs-
1:43 Yikes and I thought the ghost of the old iron Bridge was unsettling.
I love Duncan! I’m thinking about making an engine for my railroad and naming him Duncan
My man Duncan getting a video to himself :o
Guys I deeply apologize for something, I was responsible for making an edit on the wiki stating the S5 LS Duncan was the same as the S6 plus Duncan, this is NOT the case, I misread a post my a Twitter user stating "nothing from the body was reused" I thought it said "nothing apart from the body was reused" and made the edit for said reason, obviously this is not the case and I apologize, please bare in mind while watching the S5 LS Duncan is NOT the same as the S6 plus LS Duncan.
Duncans renders cab looks so BIG!!!!!!!!!
It’s ya boi, Dunkin Duncan, good to see him getting his own video.
“Send Rusty packing! Send Rusty packing!”
Is it funny that’s his real basis a welsh engine but his name is has a fictional Scottish engine, I just find it funny how it all ties so well
His basis whas built in scotland
Is it weird that the Scottish Twins are two of my favorite characters as well as Duncan when all three are Scottish?
“There is another” (Harvey)
@@ezugen I didn’t even know Harvey was Scottish but that’s pretty cool.
@@therealwitheredbonnie2985 Emily is also depicted as Scottish, as a nod to her builder being Scottish.
Michael Angelis also depicted Murdoch with a Scottish accent.
Well his basis is Scottish.
@Dat-Mudkip yeah, well, he was an annoying narrator. I can't stand his voice
An amazing episode the history and Thomas and Friends on their models as usual
I used to love watching Duncan as a kid. He was so hilarious back then!
He's hardly seen at the blue mountain quarry, which is kinda sad, we haven't seen him since season 19 (2015) Duncan and the grumpy passenger, and nobody knows what happened to him.
I saw Douglas as Duncan at the Talyllyn railway as I remember seeing Douglas as Duncan at the wharf before leaving, again amazing review.
"Nothings happened Nothing's happened silly old diesel clever me"
Duncan donuts
Was just watching your videos
my favorite character !
Oooh finally some info on my personal favourite of the Narrow Gauge Fleet’s models
George Carlin's voice for Duncan is my personal favorite
Ah yes one of favorite characters the legend Dunking Duncan BABYYYYYY
Duncan was always a favorite just for how appealing his design was to kid me either the color or just the build of him looking neat to me
I've been looking forward to Duncan
Duncan trivia piece.
Normally Duncan is a 0-4-0WT. But some official artwork in Japan show him as a 0-4-2WT. Imagine Duncan having his rock n' roll being fixed with trailing wheels, like Skarloey and Sir Handel did.
Honestly small Duncan works so well. We all know small things are the angriest ;)
James: your late
Duncan: I know
I hope you're well Trainboy
"its as tame as a pet rabbit"
Cgi Duncan is basically a take and play because of that red running board
FINALYYYYYYYYYYYYY
man that intro
also I like rws duncan
0:44 duncans one of my favorite characters!
DUNCAN HES MY MAN
I played his theme when I delivered food to a class for severe handicaps on Fridays because I don't like Fridays. Along with flying kipper, express theme at times with it.
It’s mr rock and roll himself!!
Duncan the frickin mood
THE SMALL SCALE DUNCAN IS NOW OWNED BY TOMSPROPS!!
I think the next one should be about the Troublesome Trucks
I simply love Duncan keep your station I'm staying here
Duncan was always one of my favorite characters from Thomas and friends.
About 10 years back, the intellectual property owners of TTTE threatened legal action against the Talyllyn for holding Dunccan Days without paying a fee... The Talyllyn wrote back asking for fees for TTTE using representations of all their engines and never heard another squeak about the matter!🙊
In terms of merchandise, Duncan is the most iconic Narrow Gauge engine along side Rusty as they added yellow and orange to the toy lines. And CGI Duncan has a fat cab.
I remember that Season 6 episode of Thomas and friends James and the red balloon (2003) in Christmas 2012.
I think you should make a wooden railway video love your stuff keep making amazing videos and never stop
Duncan is my fav of the narrow gague engines Thats why i made my own "o gague" duncan model!
I had a trackmaster Duncan and fearless Freddie
“No passengers means no polish!”
“...no polish means no passengers...”
I wish I had more of the narrow gauge engines episodes from season 4 since iirc i only have bull dog on vhs thats it and i really like the narrow gauge especially in season 4 as it was focused on the little wngines
i find it so funny that your favorite standerd gauge chacater is my favorite and your favorite narrow gauge character is mine as well whats next? your gonna say that jock is your favorite small railway engine
is it?
Well here's Duncan but where is his donuts
Duncan's CGI render is the textbook definition of "Look at how they massacred my boy".
They designed him like that to make him more accurate from the model series.
@@adamreutgen4575 And it's still very inaccurate
@@mdeverhart to me both renders look the same.
8:51 I think it's dinking duncan.
Duncan: AHH IT’S THE GHOST TAKE ME BACK TAKE ME BACK and NOOoO IM ASLEEP
Lets hope the next one is peter sam.
Up to the poll more than anything though he will included lol.
Duncan is my favorite character 😃😃
I was wondering what the name of these two things in Duncan's smoke box are
Nobody:
Thomas tank merch: soon, i will have all the *infinity stones* thomas models. With all the stock he has he could probably film his own thomas episodes
Rusty deserves a chance he’s a important part of the narrow Gauge railway
Duncan was such a savage
My favorite one yet!
We should be happy Duncan was reintroduced into CGI because he would only be seen in season 18 to 20 and then him disappearing again for season 21, two BWBA seasons and planned to have a small role in The Great Little Railway Show in season 24.
I liked it when Duncan did the Duncan thing
ROCK N ROLL!!!
My favorite character as a kid other than Gordon. I love the accents that Carlin and Baldwin gave him. Very funny
Same here! Alec Baldwin made Duncan sound like Stevie Griffin in Season 5. I sometimes had mistaken Seth Macfarlane for voicing Duncan alongside Alec Baldwin’s narrations. Lol jk!
@@thomaspixarmarvelfan Yeah. I especially like Baldwin’s delivery of the line “Things that go bump in the night? Rubbish!” in the episode Duncan Gets Spooked.
@@maxoyew2965 just imagine for a second if George Carlin narrated Season 5 and Sid that line. Now that would have been cool!
@@thomaspixarmarvelfan Certainly. Tbh season 4-6 are my favorites. Mostly because I grew up on those. Most of the season 1-3 classics were new to me when I binged 1-6 a month ago
Duncon Donuts! LOL!
First and love the vids man
I really like the narrow gauge engines in CGI, especially Duncan.
I agree his cgi model looks great and more accurate from the model series and more realistic.
Hey train boy if you do see this or anyone what do you recommend for my first Bachman set because I was think of the thomas,Annie and Clara bel with track that is like $108 but I don’t know if it’s good or not have any suggestions?
The episode that made me laugh was Duncan gets spooked lol
The people at Nitrogen Studios could’ve looked up some photos of Douglas and use it as reference for Duncan’s model in the CGI series.
Awesome!
Hey Trainboy, since you’ve talked about wanting to cover the narrow gauge engines a little more, and since you have some HOn30/009 gauge track, have you ever thought about buying and modeling with a Peco James or Jeanette kit? (Aka the very same kits that Awdry *himself* partially used to make some of his models of the Mid Sodor engines?)
I never knew Duncan's series 4 & 5 models were different.
Or that his CG model was totally scuffed.
I wonder if anyone has done a photoshop of a properly proportioned CGI Duncan.
I thought he looked off when I first saw him in CGI, but just wrote it off as having not seen him in so long.
I'm just glad we got to see him again, even if he got the short end of the stick.
Man if Douglas wasn’t having an overhaul then Duncan would’ve been in blue mountain mystery.
And Mabye he would get merchandise
YESSS!!!!
