      Thanks Gary 👏🏼 appreciate that, because I genuinely do take a lot of thoughts and planning about what I’m doing before hand, and try my best to get it as neat as possible and follow the regs etc. but when it comes to the videos I just try and have a bit of a laugh and joke and make it seem like not much effort has gone into the prep and planning, when in reality it has ! So thanks 👏🏼

    The cable cost for that is absolutely savage mate! Nice install bud. Those chargers give you a nice bit of room to work with, have had some that have about the same room as an up and down wall light behind 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣
    You’re correct putting the type A RCD in anyway as the cable will require RCD protection at source. The EV ultra is so much nicer to work with and easier than having to run another data cable. I usually use two pairs say the greens for one and browns or whatever just so it fits the terminal better but that’s personal preference.
    Nice one for leaving the slack have had to change one and the previous installer left absolutely nothing on it was a right pain!

    Very tidy job as always Sean very neat. Ultra ev cable I got was just over 9 quid a metre at "no" electrical but was a pain to strip as it didn't have enough French chalk in it. I guess regulation 528.1 doesn't count with the cat 5 being screened within the cable. Just one thing I would say if you do another one of these can you video how you fitted the current transformer inside the cu so other sparks know. Nice touch with the bootlace ferrules and heat shrink well impressed 👍😁

    • @Cablesmith
      @Cablesmith  Год назад

      Cheers mate, yea will show next time. One thing I did mean to mention in this video but forgot was, to connect the CT to the cat5 you shouldn’t use wagos. Almost anything but wagos according to manufacturers instructions they’re not suitable

    • @adierob1
      @adierob1 Год назад +1

      That's a good point about wagos I don't know if it's because cat 5 can snap in them and cause the ct to become open circuit which in turn could cause arcing and possible fire risk or they haven't approval, I'm not a big fan of wagos and only use them on lighting circuits. We used din rail terminals and like you boot lace ferrules as it was a tidier job. That ultra ev cable could be useful if someone wants power and Ethernet in a summer house the only thing is it would probably have to be terminated in an enclosure and separated for band 1/2 separation which could be a pain plus the stuff is too expensive to strip down. Maybe as time moves on the stuff will become cheaper

    • @Cablesmith
