  • In this video we set up our Zappi car charger and Harvi remote monitor. Its not too bad but the wifi setup was a world of pain and also pairing the Harvi. It feels like it should be able to check all 8 wifi modes itself and then pick the best one ! It also feels like these should be the option for an internal antenna as most wifi and Harvi connections are with internal devices.

Yes guys My Energi is from Grimsby, the new Libbi battery storage is taking the UK by storm, yes unfortunately I’m seeing a lot of electricians hard wire a plug first then take it inside connect Wi-Fi first then it will remember even when shut down, good video guys 👍😉💪

I have now moved to hard wired CT's and its starting to be more reliable.

Great clip as always. Worth watching just for the banter.😊 Richard Symon @RSEV provides regular updates on the performance of his PV array. Maybe Simon could give us a tour - with George's drone footage over the roof? - on the setup with peak kwp etc chez Simon and Mrs Powerful's company? Please and thank you.

I can show more of the data from the Solar Edge app....and we can show the roof from the drone

Are there any rules on where chargers can and can't be fitted ? I was surprised it was so close to the water hose.

Interesting point and one that i had not even considered. Apparently there is some guidance that states 15m from a hose ! well that is going to be a problem even on my big building ! The unit is an outdoor unit and as such weather proof. The Zappi does not have an earth rod so i am not sure this has an bearing... Can you wash your car while it is charging ?

It's a bit fiddly to set up, and you have to have the right setting to make it charge from excess solar automatically, you should use the ct direct wired to comply with the regulations even though it does work with the Harvi not sure why that is, as it will work fine with the Harvi, also you should look at the Eddi solar diverter with resistive loads (spring and autumn heating not so good in the winter unless you have lots of solar) or with the optional relay board if need more control.

We now have hard wired CT clamps as you will see in the next video that the wireless CT clamps ) Harvi were just not working

I have a Zappi that keeps my Mini S E running for free in the present weather however I’m about to add an Eddi so I can utilise even more of my solar as it will feed PV down to 0.1kW excess into the car, water heater or (if you have one) a battery storage system . With Harvi only I have to be exporting 1.6kW before it will switch over to charging the car

Hi Tim - we have the Zappi sort of working now with hard wired CT's
We have a lot of solar and i need to use it to heat a tank to run in the central heating loop.

What surprises me is that surely trickle charging a potent static battery, then dumping that slowly accumulated charge into the car battery quickly hasn't been seen as a solution to fast charging. Probably a touch more expensive in set up costs, but there is / will be an almost infinite quantity of tired car high capacity batteries to re-engineer and rebuild. (A small percentage of the profit will suffice.)

Yes this is a good idea but a car battery is say 96 Amp Hours at 12v - this equates to about 1.1Kwh ( 96 x 12 )
You would need 70 of these to fully charge the Buzz ( 77Kwh )

@@L663 I was thinking of reconfiguring EV traction batteries, rather than 12V lead acid ones. But there my be more scrap value in them (for a while) than rebuild value.

I did find the phrase "searching for slaves" a little odd....i do comment on this on the next video... searching for devices would be ok
