I use the same rod okuma celius out here in Cali fishing for surf perch
I wish I didn't know much about surf fishing! 😁 One little sand flea (a frozen one at that) was the bait for our (North Carolina) record black drum

Back on the beach in time for Pompano ... there's no place like home! If small clam shells are found on the beach, this new Fishbite flavor could be worth a shot: "Coquina Clam". ( Also introduced recently are "Periwinkle Clam" and a "Blue Crab" flavor. ) Fast-acting Clam flavor Fishbites are handy in off-colored water. I've seen it catch Pompano in downright muddy surf.

Is that your doggie? So cute. Been a pleasure watching you grow as a fisherman and a person over the last 5 years or so. Probably the most adept fisherman I watch on the tube. I lived close to where you fish and have fished those beaches multiple times and you make it look so much fun and catch more fish than i do, although i feel like a better fisherman after learning some things from you. The fact that you have the same character from video 1 until now makes me appreciate you because i feel like i know you. Thanks for taking us along with you and may you continue to bring us amazing videos and i hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

There's a guy that has done some underwater footage of pomp hitting on those floats. Seems like they strike his little floats about 3 times as often as the shrimp or fleas.

Are pompanos running now (6/3/24) in NC or is it still early?
Do you find Fish Bites to be more of a lazy bait? Or does it work well there? I might as well be fishing with bare hooks, when Surf Perch fishing in Oregon. Razor Clams, Sand Shrimp, Gulp Sandworms etc all work better for Surf Perch.

When using shrimp if you brine them in salt overnight they toughen up, stay on the hook better and work just as well as fresh

Man when I was fishing the NC coast last month the shrimp I was getting for bait felt half disintegrated before I even got it on the hook. Is there a secret to that or reckon it’s a freshness thing maybe?

How many poles r u allowed out
In NC if not on a pier then as many as you want. Piers usually a limit of 2 rods. For me on the beach surf fishing I find 2 rods keep me busy.
