    All my Galveston peeps just stopped watching after tip #1. Haha!! The "dirty" water in this video looked cleaner than we ever truly see in Galveston. We get clear water for about 10 days every 3 years. The rest of the time it is disgustingly dirty and brown. Haha!!

      Fish gum or fish bites. They both just flat out work. I live just outside gulf shores and I fish orange Beach fort morgan and gulf shores. Both brands work well. I use them to top off fresh cut shrimp. Sand flea or electric chicken fishbites or pomp candy fish gum. Both catch whiting and pomps. Last February I caught like 7 massive black drum in the surf just using the blue crab fish bites.

    I’ve been studying Bama beach bum and hey skipper. Both are great fisherman when it comes to the surf, I’ve learned from both of them that usually the first or second sand bar are usually great places because the white water washes all those crustaceans like sand fleas out. Furthermore holes or pools apparently work too.

    LOL, I was hoping something new. But it is good to be refreshed. I moved (very reluctantly) to Arizona in 1987. Every year I planned on returning until I gave up after the 22nd year. I’m able to go home for a visit, been trying to refresh my memories. Reading the water is the most important thing. I have been on Google Earth, looking at the shoreline. Trying to read the bottom from from Wave action. It tells you a lot by what you might find. Part of the adventure is there is always that one fish who can’t read, which is a complete surprise.

    On Vancouver Island just before spawning season starts coho and certain other varieties spring salmon such as all pool in front of rivers waiting for the rains to start before they start heading up the rivers but sometimes due to lack of rain these fish are sick

    • @jacqueshubert934
      @jacqueshubert934 2 года назад +2

      (I meant to say thick not sick) the fish pool in front of the rivers waiting for it to rain sometimes they're so thick you can see them in 3 ft of water that's when I like to surf fish and what I like to use are shore denizens such as surf crabs and little tiny surf fish and the little tiny prawns and clams that live in these areas as the tide comes in the salmon start gorge in themselves on the shore denizens sometimes even bears are down there fishing them with us. One day I was using a herring cut plug and just casting it out in the surf when a large spring salmon grabbed onto it being a spring salmon probably I know they're only good for one hard long run and then they pretty well don't give you a good hard one again so as I was pulling it back in thinking, WoW! lucky me when it started to take off again. I realized that I was fighting a seal who was trying to steal my fish. and I was ready to cut my line when I looked out and saw the seal stick its head up sure enough there was a big fish next to it but not in its mouth I could see the hook off to one side of the seals mouth I was afraid to let it go with all this line hanging out and with the hook stuck in it cuz I had stainless steel hooks and I knew I had 80 lb test line so I just pulled the seal slowly over time and tired it out a small harbor seal juvenile probably and I finally got it close to shore( my wife likes to eat seal) but it's beautiful eyes and eyelashes made me feel compassionate for it and it didn't try to get the away too hard ,I think I had tired it out at that point and I had needle nose pliers on extensions for unhooking the threshing sharks we had been catching also barbless hooks. I thought that it would grab my salmon and swim away once free but I guess it was traumatized and it just left. The Spring Salmon floated in the water with me and the Bears eyeballing it but I was quicker and ran out and grabbed my salmon. (38 lb spring salmon) when the rain is late I do the same thing every time

    1st time Surf Fishing looking for some advice on best time to fish. Below info
    Low Tide: 5:38am 0.2ft
    Slack: 6:31am
    Flow: 9:44am @ +2.2 kts
    High Tide: 11:44am 7.6ft
    Slack:12:20pm
    Ebb: 2:38pm @ -1.2 kts
    When would be the most productive?

    • @03novtanu
      @03novtanu 2 года назад +5

      It depends on many thing.
      1. Tide
      2. Moon phase
      3. Time of the day you are fishing.
      1. Tide: try to fish when water starts to rise that 2 hour is very much productive if u ask me.
      2. Moon phase: Prefer a full moon night if you are planning to fish in the night. Try to start fishing from 1hour prior to moon rise and continue for 2 hour. Same with moon set. This 2 phase are more productive.
      3. Time: 1hour prior to 1 hour after sunrise and sunset.
      Now in a full moon day sunset and moon rise will be together and they will do the opposite together too. So those evenings are very productive. If you observe tide timing closely u can catch the beginning of high tide too along with sun and moon during those 3-4 days ie. Moon's 13th phase to 2nd phase.
      If you like this reply please let me know. Tight lines

      Saltwater kitty kats are much worse than freshwater.

    One thing he did not tell us I don't care how clear the water may be how fresh the bait maybe if fish are not biting you're not catching anything

    What's so good about Pompano? I'm on the West coast, so I'll never see one unless I travel, but it seems like that's 90% of what I hear about from the East coast and Florida boys. Are they good fighters? More challenging? Or just good eating fish?

    I’m guilty of a few of those and one point or another. And truthfully I’ll probably still be guilty of some of them in the future lol.

    I was working at a job on a condo on the beach and wind was whipping and the waves were frothing. There was a guy surfacing who had a pile of black drum. I wouldn’t have fish that weather, but I missed out. I always thought that dirty water was bad to, but not always.

    I loved your vid. I really haven’t tried going fishing so close to the shore. Are you ever going to sell more fishgum on ebay?

    Wait so If I spend an entire day catching bait, I can’t leave it in the freezer for a few days and it’s no good? 😂
