    Not really a fan of this one tbh. That tone just doesn't do it for me with the built in IRs, but I love the idea behind this one switching the different channels with just one knob. Good review as always though! Thumbs up

    Your overdrive sounds great with it! The amp sounds really tubby without a boost. Im sure its accurate to the amp (they do basically the same thing as NAM does with their amp sims) but the boost is required and what makes it useable IMHO.

    The ampknob plugins are cool, but i honestly prefer the full suite of the subzero. I've dialed in some really sick tones with the Kohle dv77 irs and the shoeless drive boosting it. The shoeless drive has become my favorite drive

    I saw that they updated their 'Knob' series and released a couple others. Perhaps they missed an opportunity to call it Bonehead Simple Ampknob, that has a nice ring to it. It gets some fat tones out of it for sure, and also dodges the dreaded option paralysis in the process by narrowing things down. Sometimes you just need to plug and play and forget all the engineering stuff just to get some metal in a jiffy! Thanks for the rundown. 👑🎸🔥

    Love the tone boosted with the Shoeless - that’s just a great little plugin you got there. 😊
    Tried it with the Granophyre (still my go-to ampsim) and it’s just so much better than the internal boost pedal. More gnarly, more bite, more bark… just a joy in combination with the Granophyre.

    I really like the Ampknob concept, just plug and play. The standalone variant comes with a built-in recorder as well. I own the original Rev C and like it. Unfortunately, the later Ampknobs are a bit underwhelming in their sound imo. Great for simplicity, but I'd much rather start up NAM + your Shoeless Drive and a couple of Big Boot IR's for sure! Love your sound man! 🤘🤘

    ampknob plugins were marketing gimmick crap, they marketed it as a mix/hassle free ready stuff, but joke is they FULL plugin with tons of features, AND NOW are making amp know out of it loll. paying cash for that vst with zero features is idiotic stuff. same with IRDX tech which is mix of eq/saturation and some other crap which could be achieved easy with free plugins.

      I understand your point and it makes a lot of sense. I partially agree. However, I believe that these simplified versions have conquered their space in the perfect balance between:
      convenience x practicality x agility x certain guaranteed quality
      remembering that the life of instrumentalists and producers is much busier than that of a connoisseur who plays in his free time without commitment to third parties.

    "everyone's scared to scoop their guitars" this has to be the weirdest thing I've heard in awhile. Most guitarists scoop their guitars too much. And if they don't, it's because they know that scooped guitars leads to a weak sounding mix. It's not being "scared"; it's having a little bit of knowledge.

    • @resington

      Scoop life! I have a video on scooped mids.

    • @truckguy3
      @truckguy3 3 месяца назад +1

      You couldn’t be more wrong in the least. There is nothing great about the overly midrangey guitar tone that is so prevalent these days. Most of peoples favorite tones are much more “scooped” than you think…don’t believe me? Download an isolated track and put a frequency analyzer on it…or use your ears. Your 5150( Mids) with a recto cab ( 1k city) with a 57( more mids) and a tubescreamer ( even more midrange) doesn’t need…wait for it…more midrange. And what do you mean scooped? Scooped in the 1k region sounds a lot different than scooped in the 500hz or 330hz region. That’s also where the cardboard tone comes from. You don’t need near the midrange in a MIX that you think you do. Live is a different story ( kind of) but recording? No man, just no. Vocals, snares, bass, they all cover spots in the midrange as well, you don’t need a honking ass guitar on top of it.
      Things pro engineers will never say: “scooped guitars lead to a weak mix”…no , they don’t. A weak mix leads to a weak mix. Shittty arrangement and shitty songwriting ( which is what you actually meant to say is over done) leads to a shit mix.
