It's a shame that the non M1 iPads get barely any features. iPads don't even get the iOS 16 lock screen features! What's even the point in upgrading? The weather app??
@@IgorTFerreira and this I understand to an extend. I find it very shameful that people - like myself - who have the 2020 model which is barely 2 years old are refused the big features. It kind of feels like we're robbed because honestly, the chip is the main difference between the two.
As a tip, the best Stage Manager key combo is Globe-Control-Backslash. That shifts your current app from one monitor to the other. Right now, it’s really hard to click on those three dots reliably to move it but the keyboard shortcut works great.
As someone who worked in higher education I'm glad to see that iOS 16 will offer some useful features for students. The only thing I could question is if the college uses exam software that would work on an iPad (should the student only have an iPad and not a laptop).
Nice video! The exclusion of Stage Manager and other 'power features' from Non-M1 iPads is a HUGE letdown. My 2020 Pro still works perfectly fine. It's ALMOST worth upgrading for Stage Manager alone. But who's to say they'll pull a similar stunt with the M2 iPads?
Thank goodness I bought my M1 iPad Pro a month or two after it came out last year. This is going to make experience 10x better especially when I work on the go
I’ve seen other YT guys open 4 apps on the iPad plus 4 apps on the monitor for 8 total. You can have 4 apps side by side on the 12.9” ipad if you have the show more content setting on.
This is literally an insane jump to iPadOS 15. And it sure is a students dream as a student for like 9 years lmao. The biggest jump for me is the stage manager. I use it every day
What a shame how my ipad pro 2020 doesn’t support stage manager or external display on ipados 16 especially since ipad air 5th doesn’t have memory swap which apple says stage manager requires but still has full stage manager and external display. This is a bad idea for apple since people are going to expect a huge upgrade only exclusive to a newer generation ipad and eventually going with windows or even an android tablet
I had almost this exact setup in college using an HP laptop and a big external display, and then I upgraded (swapped) the laptop for an iPad2 (this was in 2012 to 2014 while I was geting my bachelors) and an apple magic keyboard, HOLLY shit, it's the only reason I graduated honestly. Keeping everything in OneNote was the best, also i used TeamViewer to use adobe CC apps on my laptop from the dorm remotely to the iPad with a mouse, it was pretty sweet, I could get homework done in each class and between so i didn't have to later, blew a teachers' mind one day i was in InDesign on the ipad, he was like WTF? HOW? and I explained team viewer and he was in love.
I really want a fully functional 2-in-1, so I think I’ll have to go with the Surface Pro 8. Sometimes I need a full-fledged desktop operating system while other times I just need a tablet. I currently have both the iPad Pro and Macbook Air, but I just don’t really care for carrying around both devices.
Imo that perfect device still doesn’t exist. Idk how they’ll do it unless they just dual boot iPadOS and Mac OS or something. I’ve tried surface and as a tablet it just doesn’t do it for me. However that was windows 10. Maybe 11 is much better as a tablet.
I agree. The iPad will actually be a replacement for a PC for pretty much any casual user. Laptop when you want it, desktop when you need more room. Monitor, full keyboard and mouse - just "dock" it. Amazing. I can't wait until I can justify the purchase to myself.
Except, it’s a student’s nightmare since 90% of students own a non M1 iPad meaning nothing you said is relevant 😭 not trying to put down the video though, it’s just a bummer

I'm curious if the people using stage manager have ever used a windows surface product. The standard resizable windows on PCs do not work on the touch screen. It's painfully obvious within like seconds of using a window's surface without the keypad. Stage manager is a much better solution.
This is just a slap to the face knowing i bought the non m1 ipad air last year and some time later this comes out and now I can't even refund my ipad to upgrade

Bro they just intro the non m1 ipads like only recently. Guess most ipad users wont be using main ios 16 features here.
Great video! I recently bought an iPad Air 5 and I’m searching for a “setup” for writing and listening to a lesson (.mkv format) in split screen. Do you have some tips or just a good app for uploading a video? (File app doesn’t read the .mkv format)
vlc I believe supports that format and it runs in split view
