  • 👋🏻 Hey guys! In this video I'll be walking you through my 4 hour method of studying. Overall I'm able to study 10 hours per day staying focused, motivated, and productive. I explain why I study in 4 hour blocks and then how I study in 4 hour blocks. I understand everyone studies differently and this is what works for me - I hope you find it useful.

      Correct but what is better , working hard for 10 years to enjoy 70 years , or enjoying 10 years and working hard for 70 years.
      So this is my philosophy, working hard in high school to go into a competitive and good major and university.Then enjoying life with a good job , good salary and good life in general.
      In return say `a person who didn't do well in school , he got accepted in a low tier university and studied a meh major.
      He will spend his whole life jumping between jobs with a pathetic salary.
      The first person worked hard for what 3 years in high school and 4 years in uni so 7 years then enjoyed the rest of his life
      The second person probably had fun in uni and high school because he didn't work hard in these years and now is suffering the rest of his life.

    How he stays focused:
    1. Plan the study you are going to do the night before, have everything prepared
    2. Try to stay seated, don't give yourself a reason to move from study space (get snacks and other essentials prepared before study time starts)
    3. Get rid of your phone, it's a key distractor.
    3a. keep phone out of sight
    3b keep phone out of reach
    4. give yourself rewards for studying
    5. Set standards for yourself and keep yourself to those standards

    Hi. I owe you the biggest thank you ever because you basically saved my life ! last year when I was studying for THE exam of my life I came across this video and started studying like you do. the "do it without break" method is life changing because I used to take several breaks during my study sessions and get distracted easily but after this video I studied 12 hours a day for 6 months and got the highest score for my exam and accepted to my dream job as a teacher! and now that I'm a teacher i recommend it to my students too. So just came here to say thank you because that's all i could do. you are amazing.

  • @RAJEEVRANJAN_07
    @RAJEEVRANJAN_07 Год назад +226

    Summary in points:
    * If you study in long hours blocks, it would be more productive and efficient.
    *You need to plan before so you know exactly what you are going to study when you sit down.
    *You have to keep distractions away in order to not let yourself get out of the zone.
    *Reward yourself for successfully completing your study session.
    *Be consistent with the standards you set.
    I think these points make sense to me. After incorporating these points and trying out, one can modify according to his needs and capabilities.

  • @Maeriii
    @Maeriii Год назад +110

    so true, im totally like you! i prefer going longer blocks of study so I minimize the chances of having more and more , longer breaks that could possibly break my focus and motivation to study again after every break! And starting very early is sooooo much better! you feel much more accomplished and the fact you can end earlier in the evening feels very rewarding and you can relax with a good feeling knowing you were productive that day !

    Very good video. I”ve used this method for working on art for years and it does get work done consistently. I think washing up (showering, brushing teeth, combing hair), setting up for the morning (clean up workspace + set up work for day), and eating SOMETHING for breakfast is the most important task before starting work to sit down for 3-4 hour periods at a time. Before I start my second 3-4 hour session I’ll asses if I want to work more on pages then or if I want to work out or run before or after my next session. I compare the 3-4 hour blocks to running. After an hour of work I feel like I’m just getting started, after a mile of running I feel like I’m just feeling my legs and analyzing my body. 2nd-3rd or 4th hour I’m really moving and seeing shapes easier, for running I feel like this at 2nd or 3rd mile feeling like I can keep running. Thanks for the video!

    One thing I've been doing recently is going to the library to study after my last class of the day. Since I've already been walking around to my classes all day, walking to the library after that isn't that hard and is much easier than going back to my dorm and then getting distracted and not wanting to walk all the way over to the library to study. There's also different parts of the library for different types of studying, like there is a place where you can group study and there is a place that is meant to be 100% quiet for maximum efficiency individual studying. I've also been sectioning off my notes with titles and subtitles so that I know what material I need to study for the next quiz or test.

I feel like having structure and a solid, consistent plan, makes all the difference. I have a tip: When I start to study, my brain always reminds me about other thing that I have to do, like an e-mail that I have to send, a website that I have to check and things like that, but all this things aren't studies subjects, so when I remember that I note the idea in a paper and my brain stops to think about it. So when I finish my study time, I do the things that I have written. This tip helps me to deal with the distractions during the studies.

    4 hour block:
    After 1st hour: get coffee and a simple snack
    After 2nd hour: get more snacks ( chocolate or granola bars or fruits and nuts..)
    After 3rd hour: get 10 min break on tablet
    After 4th hour: take 30 min break.
    Tips: Keep phone, in another room or on the stairs.
    Have water always with you so that you don't have to go to the kitchen.
    Don't give yourself any reason to get out of that study zone.
    Getting yourself to study is just the hardest part, everything else ( if you stay in your room or get snacks ) will be easy.
    Lastly, keep your workspace clean and prepared with the necessary books required for study, this creates a welcoming atmosphere and I duces a study mood.
    Just sit down and try to concentrate, this is the hardest part. 😊

      Isn't staying seated for too long bad for your health? According to multiple sources, you can't just exercise more to counteract the effects of sitting too long, so it makes sense to take breaks at least a few minutes every hour to minimize the health risks. I find the pomodoro method to be beneficial in this regard as you can walk around during the short breaks, or you can choose to modify the time chunks to suit your needs. Maximizing productivity at the cost of health doesn't seem desirable, imo.

    • @erixtf4413

      h i depends i think, If you train regularly it’s not so bad for you.

    • @hi-gf5yl
      @hi-gf5yl 3 года назад +1

      @@erixtf4413 There aren't a lot of studies, but it seems safer to treat exercise and sitting as independent things that affect your health instead of thinking that one compensates for the other. For instance, according to this study (journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0055542), exercising for an hour or more in one sitting doesn't help insulin levels and blood fats as much as moving around frequently. Of course, an issue with the study is that they didn't give participants the same amount of time for vigorous exercise as they did for the group that spent time walking and standing. If the group spent the same time vigorously exercising as the other group did walking and standing, I suspect the results would be similar in terms of insulin levels and blood fat as the exercise group sat longer than the one doing minimal physical activity.
      Walking in between shorter study sessions also benefits you when it comes to learning as from an evolutionary standpoint, you only move when you need to do something important, such as hunt, gather, or escape from a predator. This primes your brain for learning quickly, so you can adapt to the situation, whereas sitting or staying still means you're in a safe environment and therefore don't have be as alert. To me, it seems that while exercise at any time does provide long-term benefits that improve studying, the short-term benefits are useful as well and could be utilized to help maximize productivity. I'd like to see someone try this instead of studying for hours straight while sitting and see if there is any difference or try multiple combinations of sitting and physical activity to find out which one maximizes productivity. Suddenly this video appears and helps me a lot, even though it is thousands of kilometers away from me , love U buddy❤

      @ agree i tried to do 50 min and then 10 min of relaxing time but it still feels too short , 2 hours is a good range because 20 minute break you can go to the bathroom and eat something and like pet your dog or answer texts

      @@britneyferndx763 this makes so much more sense. I totally relate to it because when I had gotten into these habits I found my focus deviating a lot. But now when I'm working for 2-3 hrs straight with a 30 min break, it helps me balance both work and break! I guess I can get more things done by working for 2-3 hours.

    He is able to study 4 hours without breaks because he loves what he does, it’s simple as that. Some people love playing fortnite so they can play it for 5-10 hours straight without breaks.

      I don't think that's the only reason tho. I mean, from the way he talked to me it seems like he did actually pushed himself and made sure his brain gets used to the 'have to stay productive for 4hrs' thing...which kinda gives me hope that one day I can also be there
