  • Join Ed Sirish Chandran and Aatish Mishra in this insightful podcast episode as they delve into the highly anticipated launch of 2024, the Maruti Suzuki Swift. With updated styling, features, and a brand-new engine, the new Swift promises efficiency and performance. However, despite its claimed fuel efficiency of 24.8kmpl for the manual and 25.75kmpl for the automatic, it falls short on power compared to its predecessors. Surprisingly, the absence of a 1-liter boosterjet engine or a hybrid option raises questions, especially when competitors offer a turbo-mill-equipped sporty alternative. Nevertheless, the new Swift retains its reputation as a driver's car with good ride and handling. Watch the full podcast now to find out whether it retains the Swift DNA in 2024.

      Guys your tag line is Thrill of driving, we should not be even talking about this car for being fun to drive in today's context! On top of that they never gave us the best tech that they sell abroad. Let's just call them out for what they are and the lobby war they indulge in to stay in the market.

    • @9392388886
      @9392388886 2 месяца назад +2

      I really don't understand why you guys are taking the blame for the flop of the Jimny. Maruti shot themselves on the foot by being greedy and pricing it too high. If I'm in a market looking for a Jimny, the price is so close to Thar that I'll definitely change my mind and go with Thar. For a manufacturer that knows how to sell cars, they really made a noob mistake.
      Regarding the new Swift, why're we calling this new generation? To me, it looks like a minor facelift of the old one with a new engine.
      I think reliability is where it'll obviously excel. My dad has 2012 Dzire ddis back in India, it has done 2.5 lac km and still goes like a rocketship. I really miss the Multijet diesel. When I read about a Fiat Multijet 2 engine somewhere, I really prayed (literally) that Maruti would being back diesel, sadly they've just become too old. The new car launchs reflect their age.

    I have been dreaming of owning a Swift ever since I was in primary school, and today we have a Third gen Magma grey dual-jet. But if this is how the Swift would had started, I guess I would have never cared about owning or driving one…

      The best swift you can own is the 2nd generation multijet diesel. Just slap on 17 inch wheels and maybe tune the engine a bit to get rid of that turbo lag, you'll love it.

  • @nasreenfathima8711
    @nasreenfathima8711 2 месяца назад +6

    And third gen would always be supreme over the new one, considering the fact that it has a 4 cylinder, 16 valve, DOHC engine, smooth as butter and as slick as… well, a Swift! It can have bigger tuned cars for lunch at corners and hairpins if you have skilled driver behind its wheel. In India’s automotive market today, I must say that the best JDM cars on sale now in 2024 should be the Vitara and definitely, the City

    Enthusiast talk aside, how many brands do we have where a 'hero car' helped with sales? You guys mentioned it yourself. We enthusiasts made a lot of noise around the Baleno RS... didn't sell. Jimny... didn't sell. Abarth... well. As per global news, there isn't even going to be a Swift Sport version of this iteration apparently. Sad, yes :')

    And I must point out the fact that cars, being mobile objects, should have a more fluidic design philosophy. In fact, that is what a good design language should deliver, and that is exactly what all swifts since 1984 have looked like… This one, at least to me, looks absolutely static and bulky. The 2005 model looked good too, but the new one looks bulged from no matter what angle you see. The front fender and headlight portion looks absolutely out of place, and the rear end is just too trapezoidal for a Swift… And I really miss the Cpillar mounted door handles. Also, many of the colours offered overseas gave not been made available here, like that pleasing light yellow, the beige, etc.

    Everyone wants an enthusiastic car and will comment about it on social media, but when it comes to buying most of us will simply go ahead and buy a low maintenance and a high resale value car. Maruti knows the market very well, they did not buy into the ev nonsense and now focusing on fuel efficiency

    I think Maruti shud hve positioned Swift to compete against Altroz Racer & i20 nline , make it pricier & faster. Imagine turbo petrol with paddle shifters ❤😢

    • @AmanVerma0272
      @AmanVerma0272 Месяц назад

      Altroz and i20 are a segment above the Swift. Maruti has Baleno to compete with those cars. So, to compete with the Racer and NLine, Maruti will have to come up with Baleno RS.Again.

    Swift is no longer the driver car.. unless they come up with a racing sportz or RS edition.. the 1st gen had a certain fan following which this generation completely ignored so Baleno makes more sense now .. now other car manufacturers such as Toyota should capitalize on this and come with more smart offerings

    4th Gen Swift is Fantastic in terms of Looks and Styling
    I m sure it will score 3 stars in BNCAP
    Fuel efficiency is the Deal Maker 😉
    Among all generations here is my thought
    1st Gen(2005-2011) - 9/10
    2nd Gen (2011-2017)- 10/10

    3:18 do you think maruti cares about us. Absolutely not, its visible that panels bend even if you put small pressure. Such kind of rigidity wont give any stars. They might be using lighter and low density steel to make this. Mileage is the only thing they care. If they try to sell quality car they know its hard to convince people that they will excel over tata nexon and hyundai.

    Indian reviewers have made a transition to talking about a product on a podcast. That's where the money is. No one is asking the straight, hard hitting questions to the manufacture. Maruti is the biggest culprit. They pay off the reviewers to just talk $hit in a mild way, wrapped around with nonsense benefits.
    Threaten to sue Maruti by saying the car is slower than 19 year old car. Make the company accountable.
    But as I write this, somewhere there will be a news of 20k bookings for new generation swift.

  • @MrLanmx
    @MrLanmx Месяц назад

    Price aside, if the swift is faster, there will be more accidents. Peope tend to go fast in this car and that's how the awareness of the built quality comes in the picture. it is small and light and fun to drive. I am personnally happy with the car after test driving. The amount of power is reasonable. Only the price isn't. one lakh less and it would have been a steal.

    So Maruti got special privileges from the government? They didn't implement six airbags till date though Gadkari told Oct 2023 was the initial deadline. Could it be because of they immediately stopped production of diesel cars when center took decision for saving the environment that's why not a single Maruti car underwent BNCAP tests? If its not the diesel engines which run decades, do these crap 3 cylinder engines provide the reliability over 10 years and buying a whole new car is good for the environment or government taxes? If its not the Toyota hybrid tech (that too inferior to Honda eHev), Suzuki India made no single attempts towards green energy except putting CNG engines in the car boots. Whenever any accident happens, Governments should make the news agencies publish what was the make and model of the car that takes away lives of its passengers so that safety awareness increases in the customers.
