@@killianlpc Today it's popular to make weaker engines. Most cars have only 1.0 and 3 cylinders. My old Peugeot 206 is still faster and mobile than today's car. Never touched the engine, reliable as hell.
I prefer the old Swift. I prefer the dash in the old Swift and the grill as well as where the logo is and it has nicer alloys too. Old Swift wins it for me. The touchscreen in the new Swift looks like an afterthought whereas in the old one it was nicely integrated into the dash. So much nicer.

A lot of people in the comments here saying they prefer the old swift but once you get used to looking at the new one and especially once you drive it and it's brand-new and it handles better and it's quieter and smoother and the information screen for maps and CarPlay is up higher right in front of you .. the new car will win you over because it is just so much better
Old one is much better looking. Just put the new model's front grill with same line radar sensor and suzuki logo. You can also put better and faster computer from new model (same position as old one though). That's it. They also ruined beautiful retro round style with this new dashboard. Oh and old model with ''hidden rear door'' looks much cooler and better too !!!. Also this old model is not premium GLX one with digital air conditioner and double color too. I am glad they did not ruin beautiful steering :D and used the same one though !.
In India, Swift is an emotion. I have a gen 2 swift with diesel engine. This fourth generation interior and exterior doesn’t look sporty and doesn’t come with powerful engine. Most of the car manufacturers are nowadays focusing on features, we don’t want that. We want good engine, gearbox, clutch, good drivability, better safety and awesome looks. We don’t want sunroof, 360 camera, auto climate control and mild hybrid kind of gimmick features.
Your English is so perfect that even though I am a Czech who doesn't speak English perfectly, I understand every word. I've subscribed to the channel. And by the way, I'm going for the new Swift in full version (4x4) tomorrow 😃 Thanks to you too 👍🏻
Great comparison but I much prefer the old model, I’ve had all three previous versions of the Swift. My current one is the top speck SZ5 and I love it and is my favourite of all the Swifts I’ve owned. This new model just looks awful though, I really dislike the look and I’m not particularly keen on the interior either. I cannot see myself buying one of these, shame as they’ve all been incredibly reliable to own and a great looking car in my opinion. Think they may have lost a loyal following as they’ve had a great reputation. I am hearing a lot of negativity about this new car.
The 1.0 Boosterjet engine so much more powerful than this under powered 1.2 3cyl unit. The Swift from 2018 was so economical anyway no need for more economy, but it is a huge loss of power from 109bhp down to 83bhp you will really notice when overtaking. Apart from a larger infotainment system it looks almost identical inside. I would the say the dash actually looks much better on old model.
Great video, nice to see all of the changes compared. Love the spec you get on the new one as standard, that's really impressive. But, I think the looks will take some getting used to!
Are you still satisfied with the choice you made? I'm in the same situation and i have to admit i'm undecided after a few drive tests. l want the old exterior, brakes, motor and the new interior look. But it's not possible 😕
Excellent side by side comparison of the old and new models. The new model has enough improvements to keep it appealing. The only thing I don’t like is the new bonnet line. The price has probably increased but by how much ?
So, is the old 1.0 Turbo completely gone? I hope they still offer it in my country, we have a lot of high altitude cities where the 1.2 naturally aspirated will suffer.
These were quite popular 15 years ago but the market has moved on. This is neither cheap enough on pcp or cash or big enough to keep up with the sandero and lower end corsa or Clio. Hope they are update their range with all new models soon as it would be a shame to lose this manufacturer in the uk!
In our area every second car you see is a Suzuki, and the Swift is very popular... Suzuki now make some of the most reliable cars, hardly to be compared to a Corsa or Clio,
Great long in depth review Tish. I think i prefer the out going models front. I m guess the bonnet was lifted to satify some EU safety law or something. Keep up the good work. They are all very enjoyable.
Thank you! I wonder how quiter is the new model? Same? Slightly? or quite? I test drove the old one and the noise in the cabin was extremely loud (both motor and the road).
This new engine is brilliant. Overall a definite improvement on the old model. Way better inside and I even prefer the outside with much nicer lights. The big difference for me is the much improved display with better camera and Bluetooth Apple car play. Finally the significant improvement is the lessening of road noise. I’m taking delivery of one this week. This will be my fifth Suzuki over the years.
"Loads more tech" means, first, a higher price for basically the same previous version, more [expensive] problems, both for features which you often do not need. I'll buy the previous version as a used car with less than 100,000 km and save several 1,000s Euros on a car which is very reliable and should go 200,000 km without any problems.
The problem I have with the new one is that I have a 2019 SZ5 Swift. It looks better, has 30 more HP, 58NM more torque and is almost as economical (I get from 44-59mpg realworld). I consider the new model a big downgrade.
I have no idea why they changed the motor. I have a 2017 Baleno and the motor is excellent. It is 1.2 petrol, 90 hp and really economical. My record, outside city, driving 50-55 mph was 4l/100. That is 70 MPG in British lingo. What is there to change? And being 4 cylinder, it is silky smooth. When waiting on a red light, I cannot understand if it's working or not, if not looking at the rev counter. This new one is not lighter either. My Baleno (which is a bit bigger than this) weighs 960kg! I feel it's a change for the sake of a change.
I personally prefer the older model Swift. It looks more classy. (Besides I have a black 2023 model and I just love it!) The newer model just looks too "basic" , just my opinion!
Written perspective as the video progresses: The older swift looks much more smarter and elegant, better looking overall. With that reverse camera positioning, although it may get dirtier much quicker, i'd prefer that and just give it a wipe with a microfibre cloth or something every once in a while as it does not look very neat having it randomly placed in the middle of the boot. Those rear doors ... yes, has pros and cons as discussed, I prefer them up high though. It feels different and unique, as only very few other car manufactures have this (i.e nissan juke, reno clio) but the electric windows are an improvement for 2024. I've always preferred the interiors of older models, I really dislike how when a manufacturer announces a facelift, they place an almost ugly-looking, large screen in the centre of the dashboard which doesn't fit. This is me talking in general, and this is what Suzuki has done as a prime example for me. I just think it looks tacky, it should be hidden/tucked into the dashboard as on the older model. I just think it suits an SUV, but not a little car like this. Even if the graphics of the screen looks more washed out in comparison, I also dislike how the cars are made to be technologically advanced to remain in competition. Why can we not have analogue dials and a small dashboard screen anymore... why has it got to be a full digital, increasing the price of what is meant to be these cheap run-around vehicles. The only thing i'd take is the new infotainment, providing it was integrated and the heated seats with the outgoing dashboard gauges and rear electric windows in terms of the interior. And for the exterior, I would want the outgoing design.
Frankly, the new swift is aimed at the female market. The old model had the looks to satisfy both genders. And then there is the added complexity of the mild hybrid setup, along with the problems and costs that will come with it as the car ages.
Said the exact same thing last weekend.tbh if you looked at Kia in comparison you do get a lot better value for your money then swift is hybrid but that's about the only selling point thrid generation was great all they needed to do was add a few extra bits 😊
I think the fact that now it's a 3 cyl unit instead of the erstwhile 4 cyl. Some comparison in the refinement levels should have been done. Even more so since you mentioned that online people are concerned about this change.
I think this engine change is the biggest disappointment in the new Swift. You can't beat a good old 4 cylinder. The Swift was one of the last remaining small cars with one and now it's gone.I guess it was forced on them (emmissions).
manual knob style A/C controls with slider for external air mixing is better in terms of functionality compared to the new one, slider allows for recirculation/fresh air mixing according to your liking instead of just switching between recirculation/fresh air transfer mode.
I just got the outgoing model last month, fully equipped version. In terms of design and engine I prefer it to the new one. The only thing I would like on it is the new infotainment system, but hey, you can't have it all :D
Are you still satisfied with the choice you made? I'm in the same situation and i have to admit i'm undecided after a few drive tests. l want the old exterior, brakes, motor and the new interior look. But it's not possible 😕
Pretty much the same car, with the old one being waaay better looking. Thankfully everything is included on the standard edition at a price about +2500 euro compared to the old one. Same price as the top spec model of the previous generation. Lastly i dont get the whole noise reduction concept combined with a 3 cyl engine. The one simple thing Suzuki had to do was upgrading the hybrid system from mild to strong making the ultimate fuel efficient town car, but guess what
I love her videos. Old Swift looks better, but the new Swift isn't too bad. Looks a bit more like a Mini. Lots of extra features as well. This is why I am buying the new model. Off topic: she's got dirty trousers!
I am glad you enjoyed the video. I think you'll be surprised that the styling will grow on you. Yes, I don't know when but at some point I managed to press up against a dirty car!
Stopping the production of the excellent 4 cylinder motor was a grave mistake. 4 cylinder units run smooter and blowers (turbos)can be problematic and expensive to replace. Probably done for economic reasons as 3 cylinder units use less material and parts so are easier/cheaper to manufacture. The bonnet looks awful on the new one and the alloys were hidious 🙄
Things have to move on. Looks are a one man's meat is another man's poison point of view. I haven't yet driven one and frankly I'm not likely to as I have a non hybrid Swift Sport and I'm disappointed that there won't be a Sport model so won't be buying s "standard" Swift. As for the rear door handles, never had a problem with mine. I see no reason why this Swift won't be as reliable os the old model. In 20 years of owning a Suzuki I've never had a problem. On a run driven smoothly I get 50+ mpg. My biggest complaint of my car is the very thin paint, it's very easy to scratch. On the plus size it does shine very well, but I won't bevin rhe market for one unless there's a change of mind and a Sport version is offered.
The lack of steering direction on the stock infotainment is just awful. Reverse parking direction lines are often offered even by cheap aftermarket stereos, using the steering angle sensor data. I dislike cars that make you feel that a cheap android tablet would be an immediate upgrade to what the maker included as standard.
Good review, but check your filming location in future. All the exterior content was spoilt by reflections of trees in the background, especially on the shiny black car.
Can't hate suzuki as a brand. Lightweight sporty cars without the creature comforts are what this brand does best! Just a chassis, 4 wheels and an engine!
Love the way she drives the cars with her pretty, soft, hands so gently. Her Reviews are so interesting and genuinely well made; with no drama, spices or artificial stuff. Keep up the good work lady. Would love for you to come to India and make car review videos here ad well since there is massively big market here, with range of interestingly different models over here that you will love to cover and will definitely enjoy exploring them.
I think the new one looks older and uglier than it’s predecessor. 😂 I’d go for an Aygo X, Mazda2 or Sandero instead. That new MG3 is probably worth a look too. Great video as always Tish.
The Mazda 2 is a brilliant car. I bought the auto petrol variant new in 2011. Great driving dynamics, and a mechanical gem. Recently traded it in while it still had life left and got a 2024 Mazda 2. I considered other subcompact cars and subcompact SUVs but the Mazda 2 came out on top. Well-made, best looking subcompact car (inside and out), I appreciate Mazda's approach to tech, and great driving dynamics. The old Suzuki Swift was high on my list (we don't have the new one in Australia). I was interested in the highest trim - the GLX Turbo (3cyl 1.0 T petrol auto). But I preferred the looks and interior of the Mazda 2. I have never had a car with a turbo before - so I was wary about that. Edit: Tish did a fantastic video about the Mazda 2 on the John Banks Reviews channel.
Seems like they went for a more female/family appeal; as a man, I find it hideous. I much prefer the sporty look of the previous gen. Good to see they are still being sold.
It looks ok but when you start cutting the availability of the range you have to get it right I’ve no interest in an electric car and I would have loved to look at the new sport model but sadly they haven’t bothered with one
Our 2023 SZL has nicer wheels than either, looks wise I like the old rear doors, on the interior the new car is a bit of an uplift though I do like the old binnacle and the white inserts could have done with a colour change. We will give the new model a look when ours is a year old. Heated seats is good to see but heated wheel is on the wish list. Overall impressed with the car the new one looks good in some colour combos though.
Backseat power mirrors are a miss. Nobody needs power mirrors in the back; you have hands free to roll the window. Mechanical windows are an effective safety backup for if your car is crashed or underwater or sometihng, and the power mirrors don't work, and you can't open a door. You should always have mechanical backseat mirrors for safety, and they are also more reliable to boot, thus saving costs. I think these days a mechanical windows costs more to manufacture, so electric windows are a cheapout, and another maintenance item. Also keyless fobs are always horrible and run out of battery, so keyless should be an option. I hate these new techs ruining cars. If it has that lane assists.. oh dear, those can cause accidents in the winter, when the camera cannot detect the road really. Safety first, and simplicity is safety.
Old one is much better looking. Not the first time designers ruins things with new model. The old one was very reliable too.
Agree is basically a facelift that have made things worse. The engine is so under powered compared to The Boosterjet that was in old model.

Can't hate suzuki as a brand. Lightweight sporty cars without the creature comforts are what this brand does best!
Just a chassis, 4 wheels and an engine!
I’m not a fan of the new looks, but the changes overall make it a better car. I heard they aren’t doing a sport anymore, which is sad.
Enjoyed video but am I missing something didn’t get car prices ?
The new model, looks like a car assembled in Bangladesh, with parts they had lying around, Suzuki have you lost you mind?!
Probably because of the fact that Suzuki’s main focus market is not anymore Europe or even Japan, it’s India
New Swift interior is good ❤
But front part 😭😭
I'm getting used to it!
Am I the only one who likes a lot the new model? Never been a fan of the previously gen.
When is the sport coming
Love the way she drives the cars with her pretty, soft, hands so gently. Her Reviews are so interesting and genuinely well made; with no drama, spices or artificial stuff.
Keep up the good work lady. Would love for you to come to India and make car review videos here ad well since there is massively big market here, with range of interestingly different models over here that you will love to cover and will definitely enjoy exploring them.
"pretty soft hands" simpy much? lol
Somebodys horny
Bit weird mate.
You sound a bit creepy!
Great video but too Swift for me 😂
You'll just have to swallow it.
@@Wotsitorlabart😂😂
I think the new one looks older and uglier than it’s predecessor. 😂 I’d go for an Aygo X, Mazda2 or Sandero instead. That new MG3 is probably worth a look too. Great video as always Tish.
Mazda 2 is a very good car. The proper sized 1.5 4 cylinder engine is great in a world of 3 cylinder engines these days.
I have the MG3 arriving in a few weeks... let's see!
Shame they discontinued the 1.0 boosterjet hybrid engine. It's a hoot to drive down a country road :)
Seems like they went for a more female/family appeal; as a man, I find it hideous. I much prefer the sporty look of the previous gen. Good to see they are still being sold.
There is a lot more kit under the bonnet of modern cars, which is why the bonnet depth has been increased on the newer Swift...
No, it's purely a styling change. If anything, they need slightly less room than previous Swift as engine has lost a cylinder!
It's ok that's all. Love my outgoing Swift it's diesel and amt . ❤
Cute british 😍 looking cool
It looks ok but when you start cutting the availability of the range you have to get it right I’ve no interest in an electric car and I would have loved to look at the new sport model but sadly they haven’t bothered with one
We miss the Swift in North America.
Much more beautiful now
The new model already looks classic
Adaptive cruise standard in the existing model? Wow never seen it as standard in a car of that class.
Suzuki should have retain the 4 cylinder engine.
has the new swift 'motion' entry level one have a digital speedometer to see your current speed Mph please?
The signal indicator is on the left? I though is suppose to be on the right
From day one I am trying to convince myself that the new one looks good but my head always turns towards the old one..
top reviews on both suzuki swift 24 reg models i like the newer one best.the spec wins.😁
Safety first, and simplicity is safety.
.. sorry but i didn t hear anything about the most imp thing..the price.. maybe next time u begin with this.. 🥂
20 000 euros for the top spec model, 15500 for the basic. At least here in Serbia, probably a little higher in UK
could you tell much difference in the refinement
Nice car my sister
The rims of the new swift looks aweful.the old version rims is better and looks modern.the interior of the new one looks nice though
