I think this kind of review on new affordable cars by senior citizens or parents are quite underrated and a great contender to be the norm for car youtubers/reviewers, both your parents has pointed out small details that I wouldn't normally consider but does matter to me for a daily car. Plus, I wasn't kidding when I said I actually smiled when you dad remarked on how he could recognise the new Swift just by looking at its rear-end design from distance and that it seemed fairly similarly to the older ones, which to me is a great trait (if that is the right word for it), likely due to that this lovely little hatchback has remained true to its origins, which its predecessors are generally loved by the majority, regardless if it's the Sport version or standard version. One option that I never expected that the previous generation Swift had is the option of AllGrip AWD on the SZ5 trim (trim level below the Sport), pretty unique for a small hatchback but I think it's cool, and naturally the new models carries that option as well so that definitely got me curious seeing how will it perform in damp surfaces, or even on snow! Additionally, I always have been a fan of Suzuki Swift in general, regardless if it's the standard or Sport model. In my opinion, all the previous generations always had a "cheap and cheerful" look to them, but while the new Swift still has that "cheap and cheerful" look, it's a bit less pronounced (definitely not a bad thing of course, only pointing it out!) and seemed more smart, as if the well-loved little hatchback has grown more mature, and I love it! Of course, whenever talking about the Swift, it's almost impossible to not talk about the Sport version, seeing how well-designed and well-received this new Swift is to you and your parents, I DEFINITELY can't wait for the new Swift Sport as I'm always a HUGE fan of it, so much so that I'm seriously considering to get this or any other generation of the Swift/Swift Sport as my first car thanks to this very review!!
We have a new Suzuki SCross. It is huge fun to drive, the hybrid system gives it an extra kick under acceleration and it feels far nippier than Suzuki's figures suggest. Hugely underrated cars and a proper alternative to the Korean stuff on everyone elses driveways.
Dad in cargo shorts, I’m a 61 year old and no doubt the cargo short is the greatest piece of apparel ever made, a pocket for everything! They work across the pond too! Suzuki pulled out of the US, we had a wonderful lil Sidekick SUV, manual 5 speed air and manual locking front hubs, it was so good on snow covered roads.
Hi Jon and Pete a great video as ever and great to meet your mom as well! A great review and I’ve been a big fan of the swift for some years now my brother had a baleno (one would be great in the JC collection!) and never had an issue ever reliability wise Glad your mom and dad like the car and would be great for them when they change the i10 they seemed to sing its praises! That one is a mild hybrid so it Can’t run on electric but it does have a bigger electric battery 48v I think for stop start and regeneration from braking the Toyota is a classic hybrid which runs on petrol and electric Hope you are all keeping well Daniel
We had a couple of test drives and it is a fine small car, great for anyone who can cope without loads of power prefers to maintain momentum. Only real concern was on a fast dual carriageway it wouldnt engage cruise just above an indicated 70 have we been euro safety to the point of loss of useful features? Bought one of the last of the old shape sports instead i can do without a better screen.
Technology have advanced so much Such that when compared the Swift with the Nissan Micra there are safety features which makes driving to be safer and better now
@@JonCoupland is there any problems with loud beeping as i've heard and it can't be turned off permanantly unless a suzuki garage could probably fix it
Nice reliable cars jon which in todays world is a big thumbs up 👍 im going to get a jimny once my steed gives up the ghost. I just want a car without giblets and goes where you point it
Great little car. Their only issue is, they suffer badly from stone chipping, particularly on the bonnet/hood. I hope Suzuki address this issue with future models.
Have the 2023 Swift Sport model. Fun to drive. Was a bit of a let down after coming from a Fiesta ST - that thing was an absolute weapon. But the Swift actually corners better at speed and doesn’t suffer from torque steer on launch like the ST. My only real gripes are that you seat on the car rather than in it (detracting from the sportiness) and the highway fuel usage - appalling.
Nice channel, I once had a silver 2001 Nissan Micra K11 and after that, a white 2011 Suzuki Alto, so interesting to see your Micra content, and this new Suzuki Swift test drive. Currently having a 2016 Kia Rio, about the same size as Swift. Alto was a bit too small car for my needs, but Rio is just about perfect size for me. Too bad Kia killed off the Rio, so should I need to find new car, Swift might be one possibility.
It's not a full hybrid it's a mild hybrid which means it's just got a more substantial start stop system can't drive on full electric like a full hybrid or plug in hybrid
I was hoping to get this to replace my Vitara but the front passenger seat doesn’t have height adjustment. It’s too low for my parents to get in and out of !.
Well, the Ignis is similar but a little higher (TBH I don't personally go a bundle on it, though) and the AllGrip versions of the Swift have (slightly) raised suspension. Only by about 2.5cm, though. But that may well be all you'd need.
Lovely car. Mum and Dad answered my main questions , could i get in and out? And is it comfortable for someone with back problems? Definitely worth a look, the heated seats are another big bonus for back sufferers too.✅ So Mum, Dad and Me, seems we like it 👌
Tell dad to take his hand off the gearstick when he’s driving!😂😂Great idea getting your parents to give their views on the car. No spare wheel unfortunately! Got caught with the puncture kit on my Astra as had a puncture in the side wall which the kit is no good for, had to get a tow truck, so won’t buy a car again without a spare. Otherwise looks a nice little package.
I got this car and for the first few miles i couldnt get on with it. Its not my car so not end of world. Anyhoo either the car has loosend up or i am finally used to it but its ok now. It has a small car feel similar to a Picanto we had which is either good or bad depending on you direction. I haven't really driven it apart from to Asda and back so probably need a good day in it to get the feel of the car. I was sort of coerced into the car so it wasnt my choice but it beats walking.
