I'm currently watching a lot of tests on the new Swift. I think it's great how you rate the car and take the time to look at the details, not the banal bla bla bla like on the big channels. For example, the missing balance shaft on the 3-cylinder engine is really interesting. I wish you continued success and fun with your videos.
Thanks for your comment. I have apent a lot of time researching this engine and I spoke with Suzuki engineers about the development. I'll leave a link in the description to the article I wrote - it's in Dutch, but Google translate can help you out. Thanks for watching!
best review by a country mile on this car . i have this car and its a fantastic all rounder more than enough power great fuel economy very enjoyable to drive and sits nice and quiet at speed with the fantastic adaptive cruise control on comfortable no back ache and a lovely sound from the engine
I'm a big fan of Suzuki and the Swift. I've watched many Suzuki Swift reviews and your review has been the best by far. Thanks for your great work. 🇳🇱🏴
I'm impressed with the review-it's one of the better ones I've read. I'm considering either a Swift or a Mazda 2. Which do you prefer, and which is likely to hold up better in the long run in terms of reliability?
That is a good question, I think the Mazda will do very well too in the long run. The SkyActiv engines are very well built too. I think it is a matter of taste, the designs of both cars are very different. From an economical and practical view, I think the Swift wins, with better fuel economy and slightly roomier interior. But the Mazda2 is a generation older and doesn't have all the electronic nannies. And there is much to say for that. Thanks for watching!
Very good review good to get the info on the engine and how well it's built most reviewers don't have a clue about the engine in the car they are recommending you to buy like fords and Peugeots bad wet belt 3 cylinder engines it's great to have a reviewer that knows what they are looking at
Cheers interesting info on engine maintenance, we have the previous gen car and it seems to improve in most areas, lacks a real starter trim level but once you have to pile on all the safety stuff for ncap rating no car is basic. One equipment addition I would like to see is heated wheel nut other than that it's got everything you need will give it a look & drive soon.

Loved your review, possibly one of the most credible (at least in the area of technical information) I have ever come across Oh and I love that new breed of cow - suzukows 😅😂
I based this segment on an interview with Suzuki engineers, which I used for an in-depth engineering article. The oil specifications I mentioned are approved by the manufacturer and will not void warranty, nor damage the engine. The coolant refresh is not more complicated than with a conventional water pump. The EGR is very well thought out - it's not different than from the K-Series engines. It has a heat exchanger and the entire system is easily accessible. What do you mean with the remarks on the chain updgrade? I didn't mention or suggeat skipping oil changes.
@@Carnold_YTi wil change my reaction here. maybe i am wrong but do you think e-waterpump will not regulate the cooling much different as usual? maybe this is for the next emission rules... like the double oil squirts/valve
The electric waterpump will only pump as much as necessary, unlike a normal waterpump. This makes it more energy efficient. So during the warm-up cycle, them pump will only turn slowly to heat up the engine block fast, and to create heat for the interior. That is basically the only difference with a normal waterpump. I know of engines with three electric waterpumps (Volkswagen GTE models) which are really difficult to wotk on when refreshing the coolant. You need dealer-lever diagnostic testers and work in a very specific order. These cars are virtually impossible to work on for a normal owner.
@@Carnold_YT my 2019 Toyota Yaris hybrid (older model) takes forever to warm up, I'm wondering if that's because of the Atkins cycle but at least it charges the battery while warming up !
@@oliverskinner8962 Being the owner of a Prius gen 2 myself, I a familiar with the long warm-up cycle of Toyota hybrids. The reason for this is twofold: The engine has a high thermal efficiency, that in itself requires a longer warm up time for the coolant (and the interior heater). Second, the engine even shuts off in the warm up cycle to save fuel. During colder days, it takes quite long for the engine to get up to operating temperature. In my opinion it wouldn't hurt to use the internal combustion engine more during the warm up period when it's cold outside. I'd happily trade in some fuel economy for a nice and warm interior.
Currently driving sz5 swift (my friend called it coldhatch) (automatic, K10C turbo and it have flappy shifter) unfortunely UK didnt have automatic swift sport like taiwan and japan The new swift with NA engine/cvt+mini hybird motor not attractive enought to "upgrade" 😢 And the look might need some adjustment to looks cool
Those K10 engines are quite something, much more powerful than the manufacturers specifications. Let's hope for a sportier version of the Z12 engine, there is plenty of technical reserve for twice the amount of horsepower. Thanks for watching!

@@Carnold_YT i have one ordered & coming in sept / all BLACK
Something odd about speedo it has no sliver ring around it but the rev counter has it makes the instruments cluster look odd
That is true, the speedometer dial blends in with the display this way. I think they tried to mimic a larger display.
To date the best review I've seen, congratulations. Where can I find your engine article?

Carnold, z12e engine really requeres 0w16 in the longrun (sure even 5w30 will work but only if next oilchange is 0w16
