The original Swift was a 3 cylinder, i had one 60 mpg all the time very fun to drive it wouldn't break no matter what, i had over 500 thousand miles on it when i sold it.
Finally got a chance to drive it. Compared to the MG3 Hybrid, despite being slower, its superior in every single way. Really impressive little car that kind of makes a an argument for being all the car you really need.
I am curious to know if the A/C is turn on or not to get this fuel economy? After doing some research, I found that the A/C system in this vehicle cannot be powered solely by the battery. Consequently, when the A/C is turned on, the engine will not shut off, even when the car is idling. This means that during the summer months, the fuel consumption is likely to be significantly higher compared to the winter season.
An air conditioning compressor may draw 1kw of power at most. That’s about 300ml of petrol per hour of continuous running. Most cycle for about half the time unless it’s 40 degrees C outside, so minor difference at best
Stop saying cheap, this car is amazing and for the segment is not cheap at least in Europe, the motor is great, the back seats are fantastic, and gas milage is amazing. One of the best cars on the market quality price but is NOT cheap.
It's not the point of "Scratching your plastics" - but rather when other people or passengers get into your car, they aren't going to care about being careful not scratching up your car doors plastics when they clumsily try to grab the door handle to get out of the car. Hence having non-scratchy materials is prefered to prevent this.
Good to hear about how quiet it is. I just got back from test driving the new MG3 Hybrid, and it was disappointingly loud. It was just as noisy as my Current gen Swift Sport.

Do you know that the New rear window is a great addition as the last model had the biggest blind spot and I believe why the window was added and the door handle removed off the top of the door

This is just the mild hybrid tech, similar to the one in fronx turbo. If they include this technology in Indian swift, price would go up by 60-80k and at that price people can just get a Baleno instead.
My wife has a 2017 CVT and it zaps around the suburbs like a go cart. I'm comparing it to a Hyundai i30 n line and the swift doesn't feel slow at all . On the freeway etc is a different story , but the swift is a great uber eats machine in town.

Wasn't in love with Atmos and went on to my current Suzuki. Just looking for better range so I don't have to fill up so often. Travelling to work 150kms each day. 😂
I'd take the manual. It's the perfect city runaround. I'd love to see a base model comparison between the Swift, the MG3, the Toyota Yaris and the Mazda 2.

In addition to driver engagement, manual transmissions offer cheaper maintenance, greater durability and the ability to always be in the gear that you want for the conditions ahead. It's the difference between driving a car, and having the car drive you.....
So comparing the new Swift GLX to the previous model GLX it loses the turbo and 20kw of power, now has rear drum brakes instead of discs, has a CVT instead of a 6 speed auto and costs about the same. Most new models are an upgrade over the old versions and apart of the interior this feels more like a downgrade.
Researching for my young sons first car - which these days has to be auto. Anyway, the (not so implied) gutlessness of this 1.2 hybrid concerns me a little - based on my perception that it's safer to be able to keep up than to not have any capacity to overtake... and in up-hill situations, force people into possibly unsafe overtaking situations. So, my question is, is there a 2020 onwards car that has a bit of guts (clearly not WRX guts), but a little fun as reliable ... that you could suggest?

That swift came with m13 engine 2005 6 was one of the best stock 9.5 sec 0 to 100 and with modes mine does in 8.5 and after that i swapped m18 fwd and it is bonkers quich also it does have some good weight
4:40 so hang on, they put a wheel well in the boot but then all they do is fill it with a giant styrofoam block and put a tiny compressor, tow hook and bottle of glue????😂😂😂
It melts my brain that the top Swift is 29,500 when you can buy a base model MG4 full EV for 39,990 drive away. Pretty confident in saying that the MG4 would end up being cheaper over a 10 year ownership. Either EV's are really coming down in price or ICE cars are doing a glorious job of climbing in price to meet them. Make of that what you will.
I own swift. In uk, they are made in Hungary. Trim levels in the colonies must be different. I like manual handbrake coz electronic handbrahe is stupid and rear drum brskes are perfectly acceptable. Car isnt fast but you can steer it like a laser beam and its great in town. Full of tech so you are getting value. Mpg is very good Plus Suzuki are reliable so it does add up

The thing about that light body - one work colleague had one and in a freak accident smashed into the back of our boss's Jeep Compass. The front end was totaled whilst the Jeep had barely a ding in the bumper. He immediately switched to larger vehicles for safety reasons - like a Toyota Fortuner and then finally a Ford Everest. You get what you pay for. That light body is most probably a death trap in a severe accident. EDIT: Just get the Honda FIT Hybrid and be done. Yes, you do get what you pay for.
Nice car but I'm fed up of driving underpowered cars. I currently have a 2003 polo 1.2L with 65Hp that weighs 1010kg. It's a great car but it feels dead slow even when driving in town. I feel that Mazda's approach with the high compression ratio 1.5L NA engines was better than this
I have a 16 yrs old VW Golf with a 2 liter diesel engine and 320000 kms, regularly serviced and kept in garage. Combined consumption 5 liters. Has heated seats, 320nm of torqe, 8 airbags, a lot of extras Suzuki not even thinking about to offer. I would never buy this Swift to replace my 16 yrs old Golf. Suzuki is sooooo cheap, but I still would buy a used car for this money with much more to offer!
Just a comment regarding your car purchasing service - if you get your money from the dealer, you work for the dealer. I would rather pay you so you'd work for me instead. The one who pays you is your customer. But maybe that's just me. :-)

My family has always driven Picanto range toppers.Now I have decided to buy this because the range topper Suzuki is the same price as the bottom of range Picanto.Same power specs in both though.
Analog gauges seem unfinished. RPM gauge has metal rim around it while speedometer does not. It may be nitpicking but it looks cheap. I still drive 2006 1.5 swift 102hp. This new model seems like a serious downgrade in terms of power and driving experience. 20 Hp less than 18 yrs old car.
I love the look of these on the exterior and the interior is leagues ahead (looking) than the previous gen. I just wouldn’t be able to buy one over the Polo 1.0T - phenomenal engine and little car.

The speed recognition system is defective. Suzuki refuse to acknowledge this and hide behind legislation to avoid dealing with this dangerous feature as it would cost them too much to fix it. It cannot recognise all signs and Suzuki acknowledged that it will not work in all road situations yet refuse to offer a fix. The Dealers are equally complicit, keeping silent about this feature during the entire sales process. These features make the car, the MOST irritating thing to drive and I really would not recommend this car to anyone.
Seems an overall worse car in every respect except maybe fuel economy (if claims are believable). Weaker, less durable engine. Worse styling. Much higher price (than what they've been selling for here). No options without the complexity of a largely pointless hybrid system, more ADAS crap to try to disable. Just a less appealing proposition.
Suzuki successfully made it look ugly😂 Suzuki has 6 manufacturing plants in India nd building another one for electric....it insane that they don't give Adas nd other features here. They just upgraded the exterior nd added some features

Yes. My HQ Kingswood with 202 6 cyl with tri-matic did 17sec to 100 kph. It felt slow even at the time. I think that 202 6cyl was rated at 98kW.

The base model is around $5,000 cheaper than the MG3 hybrid. And it uses less fuel. It's also about $1,000 cheaper than the MG3 non-hybrid.
If MG can match the reliability that I've enjoyed from 3 previous Swift's for uber eats then that might make a fair comparison , time will tell .

Wait a bit longer and you can get a BYD Qin L Hybrid that does between 2100 to 2400 kms a tank full

Great little car. Their only issue is the paint suffers badly from stone chipping. I hope Suzuki addresses this issue.

Except for the sport, the swift is not swift.
A Mazda 2 is at least 2 sec + faster, especially in manual. Drives better and better interior.

These zero-to-whatever acceleration videos are tiresome and repetitive. The Swift isn't a sportscar, just a good city runabout.

Seems an overall worse car in every respect except maybe fuel economy (if claims are believable). Weaker, less durable engine. Worse styling. Much higher price (than what they've been selling for here). No options without the complexity of a largely pointless hybrid system, more ADAS crap to try to disable. Just a less appealing proposition.

Good Cars are Old Cars. The old swift with 1.0 Turbo, 1.3L Petrol and 1.3DDIS were great. The new swift is a piece of shite even with the hybrid.

Suzuki might have a separate manufacturing section for export vehicles in India. Manufacturing in India is much cheaper than Japan. That explains the prize of Swift in Australia. India is closer to Australia too.
