I bought a year old ex-demo manual in red, 4 years ago. It still brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. Are there better cars? More plush? Quieter? Sure. But for all everyone complains about the price, there’s not another new car out there for the same money that can match it for driving dynamics.
As a Swift Sport owner since early 2018, in Champion Yellow of course. I totally agree, go out and buy one! Chuck on some wheels and quality tyres, an HKS Cat Back exhaust and enjoy!!!
I’d buy the outgoing model in a base manual. LED headlights, proximity key, push button start and climate control air! If you need more herbs, the 3cyl turbo triple in the GLX will suffice (frugal and fun, with a spare wheel)
I've had this model (a manual one) since it came out in 2018. I drove the new one a couple of weeks ago and can honestly say the new one drives just as well as this Sport, it's just obviously slower.
Recently got myself one of these in black with gold badges and dark window tint for my birthday and personally I have to say its great. I was lucky with mine where they replaced the crap infotainment system with a phillips unit out of the factory and I got mine shipped over from Japan and had to wait about 5 weeks. It doesn't seem to have native sat nav out of the box with it but everything else is miles better than the regular unit and I just use Android Auto anyway. My only complaints so far after about 700km is the road noise at times and personally I wish the exhaust note was better. Thankfully thats easily fixed with aftermarket solutions which I plan to do down the line. My favorite parts about it is most of everything else and personally I quite like driving experience in corners, cities and highways and especially off the line. Its quite quick and because its a Swift cops don't really look twice at it. My plans are most likely a tune of some variety, Exhaust and maybe wheels? Not to sure on that as the factory wheels I'm starting to like more as time goes on.
I wanted to add that door problem I also have to. You have to sort of slam the door a little but with the boot you can just barely touch and it closes fine. Its quite odd. I had no idea it was a Suzuki thing but I guess that is just a quirk.
Swift are the most reliable n fun to drive car. Japanese car are well known for good quality and the spare parts are affordable too as compared to VW Polo, unreliable n expensive spare parts.
Try dropping the window think it's the slight overpressure in the cabin as the door closes, I took ours in for that issue and that was the explanation.
If Suzuki have brought out a newer swift model shouldn't the current models be cheaper than the new ones? Generally that was my understanding of a new model being released! I'm confused as to why Suzuki wouldn't drop the prices on the current ones to get rid of "old" stock.
@@jesus_built_my_hotrod thanks for your input, but the outgoing models should be lowered in price even more so than what the new models is selling for. And I don't mind either of them Swift's looks, they're cute in my eyes. Beauty is subjective.
Don't they only have a 3 star Euro NCAP safety rating? Not sure why any new car would only get 3 stars and why Suzuki would choose to build to this low sub standard.
The hybrid base model manual with after market alloys is $25500 v $33,000 for the sport. A full size tyre does fit if you use a foam insert to raise the boot liner. The kia cerato was a horrid dog. The mazda 2 is 15 years old and drives very badly. Mg3 has all the tech gadgets but....its another singer sewing machine cvt that is aweful
This old gen exterior looks so much better than the turd that is the new gen design. But the pricing is expensive now whilst its still built as a cheap sh*tbox.
The retail pricing vs the reality for S-Cross pricing at dealers is a bit surprising. It doesn’t deserve to cost more than 45K, and most dealers are selling them MUCH cheaper than that.
A great little car let down by Suzuki not offering a decent engine. It’s ok but not brilliant. It’s not as refined as the competition in both the interior quality & what’s under the hood. A bit more fire power would be nice.
No it won't. Drive one and you'll see. I had a Golf GTI Turbo and I prefer my new Swift sport. feels as fast when that turbo comes in. .. and a lot more fun to drive with better mpg. (The 0-60 time and BHP figures Suzuki supplied are totally wrong, proven on rolling roads on many YT videos).
Have it from 2019 an still love it!

Well said mate. Glad you love yours!
It's pointless buying these cars with an automatic transmission
As a Swift Sport owner since early 2018, in Champion Yellow of course. I totally agree, go out and buy one! Chuck on some wheels and quality tyres, an HKS Cat Back exhaust and enjoy!!!
That’s the way! Thanks mate
I've got the 6 speed manual, perfect for the Adelaide hills. It's like hooning around in a go kart that's still very comfortable in traffic.
I really enjoyed driving the manual. It's super forgiving and even more fun to drive than the auto.
Another great review Matt. This is an awesome little machine and so light as well! Great work.
Thanks mate!
The Best Alternative segment is unique to other competitor reviews. Makes for a good point of difference. Thanks.
You’re welcome!

nice review, I have both auto & manual 😁
Cool!
As it only weights 970kg i think its closer to the original hot hatch recipe.
My daughter bought a Suzuki Swift new in 2018, $14990 including on roads. They sure have gone up in price!
Haha, yeah they also upped the spec since then. The new-gen mild hybrid model is $24,490 manual starting point.
I had a 2018 model and loved it, would buy one again.
Last of the affordable warm hatch

You mean the new one with the natural aspirated 3 cyl? It drives just as well? Cant believe it.
We got the 2022 Vitara Allgrip turbo same engine love putting into sport mode lots of get up and go! fun to drive!
Stopped watching as soon as you showed the price HAHAHAH they are crazy!!!!
Why to people give a crap in reviews about LEDs Isn’t that like saying hey look it has airconditioning in 2024?
Unfortunately, not many options left. Polo, n20i are much more expensive and fit different drivers
Yep, i20N is also almost impossible to get.

We bought a manual at $29,990 in 2021. Nothing else japanese built and sporty around that price.
Swift are the most reliable n fun to drive car. Japanese car are well known for good quality and the spare parts are affordable too as compared to VW Polo, unreliable n expensive spare parts.
At that price I think a second hand low km i20N or Fiesta ST would be a much better option.
I never going to buy a used hot hatch. It's not an option.
I'm still bitter that they moved the rear door handles from hidden to the typical location. The previous gen swifts look much much better!
Try dropping the window think it's the slight overpressure in the cabin as the door closes, I took ours in for that issue and that was the explanation.
Yeah it’s still annoying! Haha
@therightcar Means the cabin is sealed pretty well I guess.
Had a few swift sports in my time and having an auto is sacrilegious…if you’re gonna get one it has to be manual
Should be in its signiture yellow colour always had the same shade of yellow (champion yellow) think you forgot to mention requires 95ron
At least they made the numberplate the signature yellow I guess?
I think I did mention it.
Give it a revin Kevin, oh wait, they installed a diesel redline in these.
The Sukuki Swift Sport Diesel, so advanced it runs on petrol.
Hahaha
Yeh that was the only thing I didn't like when I had mine. Another 1k rpm wouldn't go astray.
Wait six months the price will drop. Dealers are overstocked right now.
Inside intel?
Nope. Had to wait 8 weeks for pearl white manual.
Im experiencing the same thing with my kia picanto 2024 doors.
those cars are more fun in manual
Manual was must for 1.6 (160nm at 4000rpm). Auto is good match for 1.4T with 230nm at 2300rpm and lot easier to live with on daily commute.
True but the auto is much easier to live with if it's a daily driver. It's also quicker off the line and cruises on the motorway at lower a RPM.
Pay that sort of money for the old model. These dealers are living in la la land.
It’s ambitious.
I think if you strike up a deal, you’ll get one for a bit less tho…
Nice, but would only consider it for $2x,xxx
You might find one at that price if you shop around!

They had to make the new one cheaper because it's so bloody ugly.
@@jesus_built_my_hotrod thanks for your input, but the outgoing models should be lowered in price even more so than what the new models is selling for. And I don't mind either of them Swift's looks, they're cute in my eyes. Beauty is subjective.
i will pick cerato GT
Don't lie. You were listening to Backstreet Boys. 😂
yep the new gen swift is not a looker...
0-100klm/h ?
It will.
@@therightcar hahaha...seconds I mean!
The car is good in its category but its overpriced.
Don't they only have a 3 star Euro NCAP safety rating? Not sure why any new car would only get 3 stars and why Suzuki would choose to build to this low sub standard.
Its probably cause of lightweight body structure/chassis. You probably can't go that far to make a car that light without compromising body rigidity.
Suzuki swift sports 🎉🎉😂
This is the 2022 model
The new swift has nothing to do with the current swift sport version
The swift sport is no more. Suzuki has decided to become extra boring 😴 😒 😑
This review clearly indicates that it is still around. Expect it here for at least 12 months more!
@@therightcar What I meant was there won't be a new one
Polo GTi
3 star safety 😂😂😂

I don’t agree with your comment about the build quality. But I do about the exterior styling.
Manual only available in base. Takes away the whole purpose of a city car. Aussie gen z wouldn't know how to drive one. So sad. Auto is crap
3 star euro safety rating, no thanks!
i20N is a real hot hatch. Suzuki is past it.
Its $39000 manual. And still built to hyundai standards. In india?
Taking votes, the. Biggest rip off car under $50k. Suzuki x Cross for me.

@@therightcar thank you. Agreed
Those that do not have the $ complain about the price, others simply buy it.
I guess you could say that about anything….?

Ummm it does have a 1.4 turbo 4-pot.
@@therightcarI have redone previous comment. Still maintain it needs more mumbo under the hood. Then it would be a proper little rocket
You miss point is sport not hot hatch. If you want pocket rocket buy VW or Ford.
Overpriced
What is it worth?
No more than $29k. My turbo 1.5 Fabia is better balanced overall.
$25k drive away max
5 star ancap
Yep, for now. As I mentioned, it expires for the Sport in December 2024, but ANCAP has delisted the ENTIRE Swift line-up on its pages.
Sorry Matt, just another little overpriced piece of crap without a spare. I'd rather put the $32,000 towards something worthwhile.
You’re such a harsh marker.
The older polo 1.0tsi will eat that swift and its not even a gti

Thanks! That’s the point. Helpful and insightful. I’ve driven thousands of cars and I know what might be worth checking out.
