Which generation of the Swift did you like the most?
The second gen!
1St gen Swift, diesel we still have 🔥
Definitely not the first one... Looks ugly and fat like a oversized bull.
1st gen was the OG budget hot hatch with a great engine and decent build quality. The new one is the worst in that regard.
Gen 1 cause I owned one
The Gen 1 Swift was so so so different from everything back then that I fell in love at first sight and bought one. New Swift has a task on its hand to replicate the same brand love
but the new one looks hideous compared to other gen
Learnt driving on the family's Gen 1, what an engaging machine to drive
@sirishch I remember back in 2010 when k-series launched with Swift - you said- if driving is religion Swift is god- and i still have that 2010 Swift now, running in city and occasionally in autocross -
Sadly the Swift sport never came instead they cut down 1 cylinder while companies like tata and Hyundai are getting racer and N line version - what a sad state for maruti and Swift
Sir the bs6 emission norm has just destroyed the driving dynamics of the cars.. if it carries on this way i am afraid to say we r heading for cars with 2 cylinders..
@@sandey22That's gonna be more refined than an unbalanced 3 cylinder!!(Thinking of Royal Enfield Twins)
I'll be honest, your video of The Swift vs Fabia was one of best comparison videos on the internet. I remember watching it in school, and then watching it every now and then over the years.
Thanks Dhruv!
Thank you Dhruv
Do the show in old format, on the roads only pls. It was amazing.
Thanks for the feedback.
Point taken 👍🏼
No this is better without a doubt
2nd gen was the best looking. Still have it with diesel engine and will never let her go ❤
That diesel is 💣
@@sirishch even I have a 2nd gen swift 2015 model zdi... 1.3 ddis is just 😍😍😍 even after 2 lakh+ kms it still runs like a gem that it is ❤️
It's an insult to the Indian market that Maruti cannot even equip the new Swift with that 1.0 L Boosterjet engine. As they say, the more money someone makes, the more miserly they become! I see Maruti going the way of old HM & Premier if they don't change their ways. The brand is literally surviving on CNG Tour models as taxis. Private buyers are ditching the brand. It pains me as an ex-owner of a 2011 Swift ZDi to see this dilution of the brand Swift.
2nd gen Swift is still the best car to begin driving, ease of driving, ease of maintaining, little bit strong body ,good feedback from steering it has fair bit of everything.
That second gen is love!
But the 2nd gen driving position is something different. 1st gen dashboard was low as compared to 2nd gen. Greater field of view 😉
Love sirish sir's passion he puts into these kinds of videos. Always makes me watch till the end.
Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it
Struggling to think who would pick Swift over Baleno which has got better features, more space, better performance, and arguably the better build quality, all for the same price.
It drives very different. Swift is more fun 😊
Swift pickup is another level ⏩💨
@@sirishchThat’s debatable (the fun part), especially with the current generation. Plus, Indian car buyers don’t necessarily buy cars for fun now, do they? 😄
@@32_Spencer0-100kmph time of over 14 seconds - slowest it’s ever been. That’s gotta be next level.
@@M4NA5 Yup, you know more than an auto journalist with over 20 years of experience.
evo India - This series is excellent and thank you for covering the Swift !
Please do the Maruti 1000 & Esteem next
Esteem coming soon. Stay tuned!
Yes, it’s in process
@@evoIndia we had a ESTEEM bro pls make a video soon and make a poll to bringing esteem in IG and YT
Owned the 2nd gen Swift ddis. Pushed it to the limits, what a joy also Please stick to the original gone but not forgotten pattern. Love to see these cars being driven on the road, the thrill it puts on the face while driving these machines.
Thanks for your feedback
Done, next Gone But Not Forgotten on the Pajero will be in the old style
I remember reading your article in the overdrive magazine about the swift when i was in school and suggested it to my dad, and he bought it. You described its torque as " Torque of the devil" or was it "The devil of torque", im now a bit confused. But we loved the car every bit took it for very long drives and sold it after completing 2.7 lacs kms in just 4 years!!!. it never had an issue except it developed a gear synchronizer issue towards the end. Thank you for bringing up a lot of nostalgia for me through this video.
Torque of the devil if I remember right 😅
@@sirishch you are absolutely right, now i remember...
Ah! I miss our 2008 Swift Dzire. Thanks to the Swift DNA, it wasn't just practical but a lot of fun as well! That 400l+ boot space was a boon when it was time to shift to a new house. Thanks to the stupid 15-year rule in the NCR, we had to sell it last year. While we replaced it with a second-hand Brezza Diesel, which surely feels like the perfect upgrade, the Dzire is still sorely missed occasionally. 😔
Forever in our memory :)
I personally like 2nd gen swift❤❤❤
👍
This is how I expect a car review should be. It's so much fun watching a video with stories and its pure Nostalgia Sirish. I'm sure no one would have done it better. I was in School when you were in Overdrive and in my school circle, you were the guy we used to look upto. You won't believe but I still have the Overdrive Anniversary edition magazine from 2009 where you did the Ultimate hatchback tests. You guys drove Swift Vista Punto i20 to Ladakh. That was the seed sowed in me that one day I will do Ladakh one day (I was just 13 at that time) and in 2017 I finally did Ladakh in my Thunderbird. And also Sirish, I had the opportunity to meet you during 2016 Auto Expo Greater Noida. I was volunteering back then at Auto Expo and we exchanged few words, I specifically mentioned you about the 2009 edition ODmag I have with me. I have that photo in my laptop, would post that in X/Insta and tag you for sure. The moment you left OD, I cancelled my subscription.
Such kind words Sachin, really appreciate it. That hatchback comparison test to Ladakh was nuts! So much fun
@@sirishch oh it's such a nice feeling to receive a reply from you Sirish. And I used to love your anniversary mega tests you guys used to do. Later when 2nd gen Swift was launched, you guys did Udaipur to Udaipur trip. The best photo was of the red Swift being loaded onto a raft while crossing a river.
2005 Gen 1 swift...the first car I took for a long drive... What an engine and gearbox combo ! Can never forget the experience it gave. It was my dad‘s car and he exchanged it with the new Ciaz 10 years later. Regret that I did not buy it from him. Nothing gave me the drive experience ( middle class cars) till i bought a Skoda in 2021. B/w great concept Sirish👍
Thanks for sharing your memory with us. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
I'm using Gen3 Swift with Dualjet engine. Feels smooth, powerful and peace of mind..
The swift weighs about 100kg less than the Mazda mx5 which is considered to be one of the lightest cars in the world. Lightweight cars are more about the handling than horsepower.
Add lightness 👍🏼
mazda has more than 2x the horsepower compared to shift
New Swift has 40% high strength steel
@@baapkastyle What was it earlier?
These are all PR values
Suzuki can clearly get an NCAP rating for theb structure and shut up the mouths of critics
But they cant and they wont 😂
Because if the structure keeps getting heavier, their only and only USP i.e mileage is gone 😂
@@ajaykaushik2272 No company disclose what was it earlier, and I am sure if it had, it won't be scoring a 1 Star.
What makes you think they won't be sending it? I mean it just launched right?
And btw it's actually heavier although not by much (20kgs).
Old is good ( 2006 to 2011 swift 👌👌👌👌👌👌 super 💐💐💐 )
12:23 our 2008 Swift vdi did 180kmph with 5 people and a boot full of luggage while returning from Puri to Kolkata
We have a gen 1 swift, my grandad bought it used arround 7 yrs back for going and comming from his golf trips, now my dad uses it for the occasional drives. I also plan on learning on that.
Now that's awesome!
@@evoIndia There's just something abot that swift, I am going to keep it for as long as I can. Of all the cars we have owned that one's my second most favourite after the rapid.
Learning to drive! A rite of passage
@@sirishch Can you make a video on the Tata Hexa ,We had one, Its built like a tank 2018 model. It had good interiors 400nm of torque and what not. It was a good car decently reliable too. It in a sense was the new begining of Tata motors the way we know it today. It deserves a gone but not forgotten don't you think??
I have to say that as a product the hexa was one of tata's best, too bad it didn't perform well.
We had to sell ours because it was basically sitting for a few months with no use we though if someone used it it would be better. The person we sold it too took it to ladakh from banglore.
Love the enthusiasm you show in this series, Sirish. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you!
Hi Evo India! I recently fell in love with your "Gone but Not Forgotten" series. I have a huge request, can you make an episode on Hyundai Accent? It was my dad's first car and he had bought it right after I was born so that I wouldn't face any difficulty during travelling. It was a 2009 Hyundai accent executive and as I grew up I started to take care of it as my father will be busy at work. I am 15 years old now and our car is going for FC in just 2 months. It has been a crazy journey to be able to share my life with our car. I am sure others to have such great memories with the Hyundai Accent.
I would be very much greatful if you make a video with all the Hyundai accent variants (GLS,GLX,Executive,(and maybe GTX Tornado?????), etc..)
We recently sold our 2012 WagonR and got a 2013 Swift Dzire Diesel, man what a difference, The Dzire feels like much more premium compared to wagonr.. and that diesel engine, it pulls like crazy. (sold our wagonr for 1.65 clocked at 90k km and got the dzire for 2.55 clocked at only 52k km)
Swift >>>> Wagon R
Maaan ❤ i lovee this series'
Sirish chandra just rockzzzzz
Keep rocking GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN foreve ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do stay tuned for more coming up!
After finding the first drive videos on youtube from the other creators I was expecting from evo India and was waiting finally its worth as it not only cover the first drive impression from my alltym favorite @sirishch who's an enthusiast and my favorite series GBNF I wonder how @sirishch find ideas to make everything interesting and informative everytime I see him in a new video I get a smile in my face..... Waiting for the next GBNF episode with the Mitsubishi Pajero its one of my favorite cars please make the video more special. Thankyou for this wonderful presentation............
Thank you for your kind words! The Pajero GBNF will be released soon. Stay tuned :)
Thank you for the kind words, appreciate it
The Gen 1 Swift Diesel was our first car after coming to Mumbai. From 2007 to 2021, served really well.
You may think it's cringe now, but that Swift v Fabia is a very fond childhood memory. I'm pretty sure I still have the DVD lying around somewhere.
Luckily it’s all there on RUclips 😅
My mom , grand father have Wagon R
My father's 1st car was a 2nd hand Zen which came with accessories like cushion seat covers, carpet and Kenwood audio system
1st gen Swift ♥️
😍
I think there should be a "gone but not forgotten" series for bikes as well.
We do have one on the two wheeler icons of India. Here's the link to it: ruclips.net/video/xQ8CZutU9Dk/видео.html
Yessir
WOW! The best review on RUclips of the new Swift,,, AWESOME Sirish !!
Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
I didn’t like the New Swift pre release, but I guess it’s growing on me a bit. The new one has really improved. The only thing I’d want is some power! Here, hoping for a turbo version of the same.
Turbo 💯
in used market which gen swift should one purchase between 2nd and 3rd gen without looking at price?
3rd obviously. Newer the better
The older format of Gone But Not Forgotten was much much better @ sirish. The graphics were so much better on the headline text and also the presentation was in a flow as it moved generation wise from the oldest to the newest. This is not very friendly nor as exciting as the earlier format!
As a top fan of this segment I can only hope you go back to the previous avatar!
Thank you for the feedback, appreciate it. Pajero gone but not forgotten coming up in the older format 👍🏼
When it was time to replace my aging Hyundai Accent, I test drove the Swift 1st gen, boy oh boy what a contrast it was from the floaty boaty Accent to the taut Swift, my wife said if you want to "downgrade" better retain the Accent that said I went in for another yacht Elantra 🤣 Sirish what a video probably the best ode to the generations of Swift! Very Swiftly done, Sirish!
Glad you liked the video. Do subscribe to the channel and stay tuned for more videos coming up!
Those old Hyundais were boats 😅
I had a WagonR Purchased as a 2nd Car in my Family and that car had a very Great Emotion that instead of Having a Hyandai Creta In our House we Again have gone for 2021 WagonR CNG and the performance is incredible and till date within 3 year the car have crossed 50,000 km and still by my driving skills the handling and the performance is the benchmark and this the best car i can ever see in Maruti Line-Up 😃
Need a gone but not forgotten on Opel. My dad had a silver 1.6 Corsa GSI in 2004. Great memories in it
Thanks for the suggestion. We shall do one on it soon!
Will do 👍🏼
Forgotten by most as wellqq
Hi Evo India
Loved this video on the Swift tooo....
Both mixes of Old and New swift made it a more interesting content for me
Also would like to tell that in my opinion the new swift should give a 24-25+ in AMT because my own Ignis with K12M engine delivers 23 kmpl on highway with tank to tank testing.....
Keep doing such of these contents
Thank You....!!!!!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
@@sirishch Yeah, it was the best....!!!!😀
Really appreciate your kind words. Thank you!

Which one is the better handler - 2nd fen swift or i20 n-line?
Very good and genuine review as expected from Sirish.. lot of channels will still assure unchanged driving pleasure and "swiftness" of this car, but real enthusiasts can always read between the lines :D .. clearly Maruti's focus with this car is fuel economy with "some" driving pleasure..
For me, the 3rd gen swift was the best of the lot...
AND YES, WE NEED A FASTER SWIFT, MARUTI :)
Thanks for your kind words.
Thank you! Time to do the chassis justice
I really love the videos made on this series, for that i patiently wait for the relese of a brand new episode. W evo india

Hope you enjoyed this!
I love this new format of gone but not forgotten
Thank you
Thank you, though more comments are for a switch to the older format
This new Swift looks good. Weighs 900kgs. Very nice fit and finish. Lovely to sit inside. Good car. I liked it immediately when I saw it for the first time today at the Maruti Arena near me. 11.42 lac for the ZXi manual on road Bangalore. Thats fine. It is on par with the pricing of other cars. I like all the generations except the second gen.
What did you like the most about the 2024 Swift?
@@evoIndia It is a wholesome package. perfect city car. looks good and will work perfectly in our over crowded traffic filled towns.
It’s nice to drive too!
Good video, previous style of filming on roads was better but its good to see the magazine clips! I think you should have included the swift dzire too but waiting for a video on the alto since we only have the k10 now. If you ever do that then do include the A-Star as it was basically the next generation of the alto sold togther
Yeah A-Star was the next Alto generation
@@sirishch do you plan on doing one on the alto?
As a diesel head the DDiS engine was my alltym fav i know it has turbolag but after 1500 to 2000 rpm its a gem it was also great in the ritz some doesn’t like the tuning of the engine in the ritz...However the best swift till date is the 2nd gen with the DDiS as a Diesel is a Diesel is a Diesel is a Diesel is A....
Is a diesel...
….. is a diesel 💪🏻
Maybe the new 3 pod motor will spawn a turbo version with 125 bhp. This can go into other Marutis and the swift sport (if it ever happens in India)
🤞
Never stop the gone but not forgotten series. But Please bring the old format back.
Cmon don't be lazy....😅
It will never stop and thanks for your feedback :)
Righto 👍🏼
Why do I think EVO Ind thinks this car could be the last IC engine swift we would see on Indian roads 😢
We don't think so
It could well be the last ICE Swift
A swift with the Boosterjet mated to a 6 speed manual would be glorious
💯
It would be really awesome if Suzuki brings a sport version of Swift with boosterjet engine coupled with a manual transmission..
💯
Definitely 2nd gen Swift was a good looking one among the 4
👍
Sirish! This is education. You rock my man! 🙌
Thanks Abhishek!
Glad you enjoyed it
Need a video on Wagon R...my dads second family car...DDis is my fav...that torque i can feel...i have Ritz Zdi my first family car..that sudden surge in Power❤❤❤❤..we retained Ritz and sold WagonR...to buy Scorpio
Sir Sirish, Could you please explain why car manufacturers tend to favor producing vehicles with taller gears? What advantages do they offer, and what are the best practices for driving such vehicles?
Taller gear means pulling lower revs in top gear at cruising speed which means better fuel efficiency and lower emissions on the test cycle
Mileage and emissions on the ideal testing cycle
Zen was discontinued in late 2006. So Swift & Zen sure did coexist for sometime!
Anyways great video, I myself an ex owner of a 01 Zen VXi & a 06 Swift ZXi.
My teambhp thread- "My experience with cheap used cars"
Zen or the horrid Zen Estilo that was sold at the same time?
@@sirishch Thanks for replying!G10B Zen only, the facelift one (aka Tiger Zen) was in production till 2006. I was just going through some old ACI/OD magazines. All seems to indicate Zen was there till early/mid 2006!
The old format of gone but not forgotten is better imo
Thanks for your feedback
Thank you for the feedback
Not as excited about the Swift now as I was about a month ago.
So sad 😢 but also understandable
@@sirishch looking forward to the hybrid though
still mk1 is best, swift gti's g13k can fit innt ,1.4 mutiair from 695 yes,k14c from gen3 sport yes,m16a from gen 1 and gen2 swift yes, so best car is gen 1 or 2
Old format is better so much rich history
Thank you for the feedback!
Loved the series through ❤❤
Review with history is always good !!!
Absolutely.
We definitely want a 100 bhp swift
No doubt
Hope someone from Maruti Suzuki reads this.
Hopefully someone at MS convinces the management to get the Swift Sport even if it's a halo product, or atleast the 1.0 boosterjet engine. Every other manufacturer offers a turbo. Why can't Maruti?
Fingers crossed for that to happen
@@evoIndia razor thin chance of that happening though. 🥲
🤞
I have gen 2 Swift dzire vxi and it's very smooth and giving me 22kmpl and I'm planning this dzire with me upto the 2032
"Who are these people who bought the Wagon R"?? Sensible middle class folks who need a spacious car to go from point A to point B. Which has adequate performance and good mileage. It ticks a lot of boxes right. Thats why it is still Maruti's top selling car.
👍
Yeah. Plus all the ola and Ubers
Maruti suzuki is killing it's iconic Swift with 3 cylinder engine , hilly terrains is where the car is going struggle..
We’re looking forward to driving in the hills and seeing how it performs there as well!
My wishes to maruti suzuki india from @evoindia subscriber pls bring back ESTEEM 🔥🔥 😢😢

@10:49 Fuel economy is 6km/L 😳
Yes, that word it did not matter how you drove it but still it would return a very good mileage was true with that DDIS diesel mill engine, gun of an engine
That engine was 💪
💣 of a motor
maruti was basically apple(ing) on the performance during the launch event.
I love this quote "If driving is your religion then the Swift is god"

Definitely need more of these video's
More coming up 👍🏼
That's a perfect meaning of review

Thank you! Appreciate it
Honestly if this generation gets 4 stars or more in GNCSP or BNCAP, the sacrifice of few seconds on 0-100 and the number of cylinders can be gladly and wholeheartedly overlooked.
One of the best reviews. Thanks a lot for so much research...👌
Thanks!
I have a second generation vvt swift I love it.❤❤❤
Electrified speech ❤❤❤
Could you please make a video on all i20 generations

Which road are these amazing roads 😍
On the outskirts of Bengaluru
Bangalore outskirts
The first generation 2005 to 2011 Swift who was the whole different breed the top end the runs the right quality was absolutely different no other card at that time could match the level of Swift with that being said it was the most favourite hatchback of Indian families and The Legacy is still now going but I am really disappointed by the fit and finish the quality the value for money and the build quality Maruti Suzuki is giving with set of Swift
A big yes and request to MSI for the new swift with the 1.0 booster jet...pls .....
We need an episode on Hyundai Accent. Been waiting since forever 😢
We will try to do that episode soon.
